Front of the train getting full? No worries, there's plenty of room in the back cars. Mind your step and take small children by the hand. Kiss your Ma and your Pa, get the last jab in at your younger siblings, but don't dally!
The Hogwarts Express will be pulling out soon, headed to Hogwarts for another magical year. You may RP your character boarding the train here, saying their goodbyes, and meeting new Hogwarts students.
"I can't wait for school to begin, my primary school w great, but I got bullied quite a lot, hopefully I won't here though." Red had heard how amazing Hogwarts was, not from her father obviously, but other people she had met told her about it, "Thank you, Laura, I probably need help, I always struggled in primary school, I can't talk to boys or men, I get really nervous around them." Red smiled and shook Laura's hand, she had made a friend, be that a friend from a different year, but it was good to have older influences.
Laura smiled. "I got bullied at primary school when I was there." Laura sighed, she had hated that but at least at Hogwarts she had made some great friends. "Here it is different, you get to make loads of new friends and people respect you for who you are." Laura had been scared many people would have hated her but she had made some great friends.
Laura was smiling as she thought about the start of term feast in her second year when she fell asleep and Ella and Sophie had refused to let her sleep and then Minnie had changed her hair colour it had been a blast. "When you get to Hogwarts you'll notice that things are changing." Laura smiled. "So anything you want to know?"

"Yeah, it was cool." His face expression proved that too. "I could stay here aaaall the summer with my mum and aunt. I met Tobias and checked out some brooms, but didn't buy. There were such talents like Tobias, Minerva and Alec--how could he even finish the try-outs with dignity? "AnywaysI'lluseschoolbroomsfirst." He looked away for a moment. And she totally caught that 'I' and tilted her head, curious as to what he was going to say but didn't. "School brooms work just fine and I'll still fly with you if you want. I'm looking forward to get back on my broom so I'll be at the pitch lots." Nodnod.
"My summer?" Hm. The blonde smiled slowly and she tried to find a nice enough word to sum it up. "It was really brilliant." Grin! "I worked at the zoo again and Alec came to stay for a few weeks as well." Which was especially nice. "I really am glad to be going back, though. I missed all the Hufflepuffs!" They were family too, after all.

"I'm suuure Gemini won't mind a new face around in his life." And the attention. The attention for definite. Cassia was in the same year as Elodie too, so it meant that they'd be at school for the same amount as time as one another from now until graduation, so Gem wouldn't LOSE his new friend for a few years. Unless Cassia hated him or something.
WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE GEMINI WAS A ROBERTSER.
ROBERTSER'S WERE LOVABLE.
Lots and lotsa love.
Oh thank the heavens! Cassia seemed excited about being older than everyone as MUCH as Elodie did. Not as much as to join in with her little dance, but enough to SOUND excited. "We're old, but not. It's like..the best time of forever." The absolute best time in her life as well. She supposed. Maybe. Until graduating and travelling. If that was what she still wanted to do. SO MUCH TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT. But right now was right now and she STILL had to get that statue date happening with Cat, and they had best friend things to do and she had nails to paint and hair to twirl and corridors to sock slide down. THINGS. TO. DO.
Was that food? Oh, food! Els considered whether the food she had had before leaving was enough to last on until she decided to get the food trolley and love on everything there. It wasn't at all. "Mmmm, I would, thanks!" And with that, she took the licorice wand and started at it.
OH SUGAR.
Woot!
She just granted herself the company of a cutie cat. Though, she hadn't gotten to see Gemini yet, she was sure he was cute. Because he was lazy! Those were the cutest. She was lazy you know.....slightly off topic, she wasn't a cat. Anyway, the snake beamed. "Awesome! I'll walk him and play with him then," She was making plans already. Mhhm. Since Elodie gave the green light, Cassia pretty much pushed away the formalities.
She just needed reminding that he wasn't hers.
Juuust from time to time.
Cassia appreciated people with such enthusiasm as hers. YAY! Someone to fangirl and squeak with! Did Elodie squeak? Well, she didn't seem annoyed by Cassia's half-squeak which was a very good sign. Some people didn't like it you know, claimed it was annoying and hurt their hearing. Pfffft. If a squeak could hurt their ears, then they wouldn't survive this cruel world. Poor them....whoever they were, anyway. "You know what, Elodie," She said musing at the horizon dramatically. "Life is very good right now," There! A life status from the snake. "We should take advantage of it," Life you know.
Cool! She liked sweets and didn't jump back seeing the chocolate frog. Some do. The snake had encountered a couple of those. Nodding her head with a smile, she unwrapped the chocolate frog and tightened her grip so it wouldn't jump. She didn't fancy chasing after it. Or maybe she could order one of the younger ones to do it for her. Maaaybe her experiments should wait til they reached the castle.
"I have lots in my trunk, too," She randomly said. "I got lots of tips when interning at the Leaky you know," Needless to say she spent allmost of them.

Yay it worked! The wink thing... Just like West said. Weirding people out who weren't expecting it. Muahaha. She made a mental note to do that again, with the flaily hands and the pokiness and stuff... that was all on the list of things that got that look from Ascanius. Hehehe.
And she could tell that he was doing the thing. The noticing thing. Pfft. Don't do the thing, Ascanius. Don't do the thing. She was freaking out about a hundred different things at once and she wasn't in the mood to talk about it at the moment. Maybe later.
"...I think Lafay lost her mind." she said, glancing down at the badge. "Half the team deserves it more than I do." she added quietly. Would it be ridiculous just to take it off and hide it in her pocket for a while? Whilst she got her brain to stop picking out all the things that could go wrong n stuff. That'd be nice... but also obvious. Instead she just cuddled Lando closer and hid her face in his fur for a minute. "OWL year too..." she mumbled, peeking up at Ascanius. "'Sgonna be a busy year."
Pushing the smirk aside, although it did creep him out something fierce, the fifth year continued to size Derry up. Something was wrong with her. He could tell because she wasn't bothering him or trying to displease him in any way, which was a favourite past time of hers. Yeah, he knew that. Didn't mean he liked it. Pfft.
Derry was doing that self-doubt thing again, which made Ascanius sort of itch. He didn't understand why she so easily got down on herself. She had about the most attractive person he knew as her best friend; she couldn't be all that bad. Oh, and on her own, Derry was a solid girl. Kind of awesome, yeah? S'why he liked hanging around her.
So rolling his eyes, he said, "I dunno why you got it and my opinion doesn't matter. You've got the badge. Don't make excuses, rise to the occasion.". and she would. Derry was cool like that, yeah? And a fierce flyer. Ugh, the thought of flying made him sick.

"Okay.. good," he said, squeezing her hand gently. "Maybe you could let me know when you get there?" Or even talk to him while she was on the train if she wanted but he knew he needed to provide a strong example for her so she wouldn't be too sad, even if this was just as difficult for him.
He took a deep breath as he looked at her, still keeping the same small smile, but feeling bad as there seemed to be an awkward loss of words between the both of them. He looked down for a minute, not wanting things to go this way, then looked up smiling a bit brighter as she mentioned his jacket. He captured her with his arm around her waist as she leaned in to kiss his cheek, holding her for moment before letting her go to look at her. "Not a problem.. It's as much yours as it is mine, really," he said chuckling, knowing how much she borrowed it especially when she was cheering him on at games. But he didn't mind at all. "Maybe when you wear it, it can feel like I'm close to you.. like I'm there with you." Maybe that sounded kinda lame, but he hoped that it would be even some small comfort to her. He grinned as he looked at the bear he won for her at the festival. "Possibly.. but it's all stuff you can't leave behind." Nope.. it was all necessary as far as he was concerned.
Green eyes followed the ball of fluff as she bounced around on the ground and he looked on a bit sadly. Their little pets were all so attached to each other and he was sure they couldn't understand why they had to be separated, but figured they'd be alright. "I'm going to bring Elise up to the dorm with me when I go back to get the rest of my things." He didn't want to leave his animals up there alone and figured his parents could take care of them for a few days. Smiling a bit brighter at her, he nodded to her suggestion. "Sure, let's sit down.." Still holding her hand, he led her over to the nearest empty bench and sat down near the middle, setting his things down on one side of him and allowing room for her to sit on the other.
Min smiled, "Yeah.. As soon as I'm settled and I help get all the first years situated and do whatever else I will need to do, I'll make sure to let you know." She fidgeted a bit, "I really hope they knew what they were doing putting me prefect... I'm so nervous about it. What if I fail at it." She frowned.. It wasn't even a year ago that she had been having all the issues. Yes it was the ice cream and the antidote, but still she felt like they made the wrong choice. She took a deep breath and fell into her thoughts once more.
She laughed a bit with him as he said that the jacket was hers. "Of course it's mine, but yes that's why I want it. So now you can picture me all mopey in the common room cuddling with my bear wearing your jacket." She half teased knowing it probably would be true on most days. For better part of two and a half years she spent most of her time with him. She couldn't even remember the last time she really hung out in the common room since he wasn't allowed in there. She sighed and frowned a bit. Not that she didn't like her common room, she loved it, it just didn't have him was the issue. "That means I get to take you then right? If it's things I can't leave behind." She leaned up kissing his cheek again. She felt the first tear escape her eye, she was trying so hard for that not to happen. She wiped it away and bite her lip trying to control the emotions that were trying to take over. "I really hate this..."
Min followed to the bench and sat down next to him. She sat quietly for a few minutes calming her nervous down. She felt so anxious knowing the train would be there soon. She fidgeted a bit in her seat and kept looking at the ground. She felt if she looked up she wouldn't be able to hold on to clam any longer. "So.. when do you start classes?" Her voice was shakier than she wanted it to be. "W..what classes do you have again? " She was hoping take her mind off the train, but talking about him at Uni might not have been the way to go. "Oh.. make sure to grab those extra treats I bought Elise and Gretchen before you leave your parents." She knew they would like the treats she had gotten.
Min smiled, "Yeah.. As soon as I'm settled and I help get all the first years situated and do whatever else I will need to do, I'll make sure to let you know." Ethan nodded at Minerva's words. "Of course.. that's important to get your responsibilities taken care of first. Those younger students are going to be counting on that. And then you can tell me all about your first official day as prefect.." He beamed at her, immensely proud of the badge she was awarded. His smile faltered nearly imperceptibly and only for the briefest of moments as she expressed her insecurities over the position. "Listen to me," he smiled at her, putting his hand at the side of her face. "You are going to be the best prefect Hufflepuff has ever seen. I know firsthand how much you care about everyone else around you, especially the younger students.. and you are always so willing to help everyone out. You are going to be amazing." He leaned in, lightly kissing her forehead before putting his arm around her shoulders as he sat back on the bench.
He glanced at the jacket in her hands, chuckling a bit as she laughed about it, then he shook his head. "You are going to be having too much fun this year and be far too busy to be mopey.. but I'll still picture you wearing my jacket and cuddling the bear," he said, attempting to make light of the situation. He smiled faintly, trying to push back the realization that he would only be able to picture her for the next month or so, not actually see her. The one person who had become such a huge part of his daily life over the past couple of years, the one he had gotten accustomed to seeing nearly every day.. he wasn't sure how to begin to manage leading separate lives even for a relatively short time. He looked away for a moment in an effort to control his emotions, then suddenly turned and hugged her as she kissed his cheek. "I wish I could say yes.." What he would give to board that train with her.. but he knew it wasn't happening and just needed to face it. He swallowed the lump forming in his throat and murmured against the side of her head. "Me too.."
He held her for another minute before reluctantly letting go, watching her fidget for a moment and trying to find words to continue. He gave a grateful, yet small smile as she spoke and he reached down to squeeze her hand. "Day after tomorrow.. after you get on the train I'm going to go home and get Elise and Gretchen, then I'm going to head back up." Smiling a bit brighter as she asked about classes, he added, "Well, I have a couple different courses in Herbology, of course.. and a specialized Charms class for starters." And a couple others, but those were the ones he was looking forward to. He would make sure to tell her all about them through the mirror once they started. He nodded at her words. "I will.. and I'm sure they'll thank you for it." She really did know how to spoil their pets. "I'll make sure to take some extra for Liesel too.. I hope to see her a lot.."

Nerida strolled onto the platform ready to get back to Hogwarts, sad that it would be her last year... Where had the time gone! It seemed like yesterday she walked through those doors and became a Ravenclaw. She looked around to see if she could see anyone...But she didn't really look it was more like a glance before deciding if someone saw her they would could come over right? If not she would surely find someone on the train!

And there was that train that Damon knew quite well, it had been only a few months but that mode of transportation was steaming and making the loud noises it usually did. Damon was excited for yet another year at the school but he was rather sad that it would be his last year, but his focus was on making sure that he did as well as possible in those classes. Now he had to find a good place to get on.
Seeing as this was her candy now, Ella was just going to nom it, okay? The blonde unwrapped the sweet and took a bite, savoring the taste. "Mmmm." Delicious.
The sixteen year old smiled as the younger puff shared how his summer had been. She was happy to hear he'd met up with Tobias because she liked both of them lots and approved of the friendship. ...Not that anyone needed her approval or anything. As for the broom browsing, this earned a BEAM from the captain. "That sounds brilliant, Forrest! Did you see anything you like?" And she totally caught that 'I' and tilted her head, curious as to what he was going to say but didn't.
That was all the cue Forrest needed. If she ate hers, he could eat one of his. He fished out a sweet from the closest pocket without looking, and was happy to see it was Milka chocolate. He didn't know many brands, but Milka was known worldwide and... He tore open the paper and got himself a piece. He then got another piece and offered it to her.
"Mhmmm," indeed. It was delicious.
"Erm... Locketbreaker sounded fine as a start..." He saw her beam alright, but that didn't encourage him the bit. She didn't know how he played. He didn't know how he played, but it was bound to be horrible. "Yeah... I'd rather not bother you though." He tried to smile, but he looked like he was in pain instead. "With captaincy an' stuff. I can--I can fly with Tobias." Nodnod. She apparently thought he was alright to speak to. He didn't want to ruin that image by flying horribly.
He could properly smile this time. He was glad her summer was brilliant.
...Alec yeah, her boyfriend. Oooookay.
He giggled at her Hufflepuff comment. "I missed everyone too! So you worked with elephants, huh? I mentioned it to my mum and she said she might allow me too!" He clapped his hands once in excitement. That was great, right?

Laura had been waiting for her friends for ages and now she had seen one. She decided that she would have loads of fun and mess about. She quickly and quietly snuck up behind her friend and then put her hands over her eyes and in the deepest voice she could do. "Guess who?" Laura was trying to trick Nerida.
Laura kept her hand over Nerida eyes and decided to give her another clue, as she said in the smallest voice she could do. "I think I might have found you a boyfriend." Laura couldn't help it after saying that, she just started to giggle because it was funny after all.
Pfft.

"I'm not making excuses." she said, fidgeting her feet a bit. "I was all giddy and excited about it." She still was, actually, just other things had piled on top of those feelings. More important things. Like her friends. "But West..." Her brow creased a little when she thought about it and she shook her head. "Never mind, doesn't matter." It did matter. She just wanted to talk to West about it first.
"And then that's before all the actual work of being captain with tryouts and stuff and..." Deep breath. "I don't know, it's just going to really suck trying to be objective about my friend's flying, yeah?" She didn't WANT to. She was not a leader type person. She was a sit-at-the-back-and-have-opinions kind of girl. But she supposed she was going to have to get over that.
God, it's like they were trying to force her into personal growth or something... Maybe they were. Anyway. That didn't matter. She just had to be good at this. No room for errors. Cause almost all of her friends were on the team - or they would be, probably... right? RIGHT? Please fly well at tryouts guys... - and she didn't wanna disappoint them by being a sucky captain. Ugh... anxiety. Great.
Well. There was one thing that could make her feel better. She handed Lando over to Ascanius - yeah, be ready - and opened her bag, grabbing a little sandwich box and opening it. "Shortbread?" Cherry shortbread. Mmmm.

This conversation was sailing along nicely. It meant that Elodie would have no problems taking part in another, and even more than just one. Cassia was coooool. Cool as a cucumber, after it was stored in the fridge. Not if it was left on a shelf in the sun. Fridge cucumbers for all.
The Hufflepuff laughed and nodded. "I take him for walks too." Gemini actually had a lead too, because if Els delegated a walk in a certain direction, HE liked to run off and come back later on acting like he hadn't upped and left her. "You can definitely take him though. I'm sure he'd like it." Cassia was kind of going to be a babysitter though. Which meant Els got time with her boyfriend without the cat loitering; because Gemini did NOT like Coulson. Or something like that. He was always there whenever Coul was and trying to take her attention away and it was ruuude. Rue, lazy, old cat. ....How old WAS he now?! Seven? Eight?
The squeak was possibly Elodie's favourite part of this conversation. It went perfectly along with her little celebration dance from before, and it was tempting to squeak herself! When she had reason. And only a squeak. Not a screech like Banshee Dixon. Banshee screeches were unnecessary and NOT NEEDED. When the other girl looked off into the distance, Elodie giggled and looked over there TOO. Nothing too interesting but okay... OH. Cassia was spouting all wise things and Elodie probably should have been taking notes on this, right? Probably. She listened along, nodded along, and smiled along. "How would you suggest we do that, Cassia?" With boyfriends? With friends? With food?
............. TIPS? Elodie chewed on her licorice wand and shrugged. "I got cheek kisses from customers." From Coulson, because he did NOT approve on the whole customers kissing her beacuse it was 'his cheek'. Nevermind.

KISSES ALL THE SAME.
In her mind, the snake was already making up her schedule between babysitting hers and Lex's new spider and now she had Gemini! This year was gonna be awesome she felt it already. Or she was gonna make sure it was. Last one wasn't the greatest as she spent most of the time broke and borrowing money from friends. Not that they ever complained, she had the greatest friends in the world. Also, they already knew that the turnstiles weren't going to be around the castle. That was a good sign. Hopefully, no professor will just go ahead and die. Getting annoying you know. Ehh...she didn't want to think about that. Back to the subject. "Great! We'll figure out a schedule, then," This was going to be official!
They didn't need to sign forms or anything, right?
The snake didn't appreciate anything more than people who went along with her sudden dramatic act. And Elodie fit the role perfectly. This girl was smart! Yay for smart company! "Hmm..." She stroked her chin considering the question then finally spoke, "Lots of adventures. Hanging out with people we like and never wasting time on people we don't like," Which Cassia already didn't do. But it seemed important to mention. Life was too short to be irritated. The blond had rules about ignoring those who were mean to her, they were lame anyway. While she liked to bound with cool people, like Elodie who made into Cassia's list. She had lots of lists, most of them were on her head though.
She'd lose them if they were written. Mhhmm.
Kisses?! This was different and kinda unique you know. No one kissed Cassia! ever yet. But like, she'd be picky about whose mouth got near her. She cared about people's hygiene and she was pretty sure Elodie did, too. ALL girls did! "That's cool, too." She chuckled. And she meant it.

Brodie came in, one of his closest friends Vikki pulling his bags for him due to his arm still being in a sling from the accident earlier that month. He still had a slight limp though, on the bright side he didn't look as horrible as he had. Both his legs had healed quickly, he'd had a neck, and his face had been a bloody mess... So he was fine still having a broken arm and every now and again needing to use a pair of crutches to get around. He still didn't want to use magic to heal this, what was the point anyways?
Looking around he had a small grateful yet saddened look not seeing Taylor. A plus because every time he looked at his ex girlfriend his heart shattered, especially after when she came to see him in the hospital she had kissed him then turned around and started to talk about some other guy named Nash and then Harvey as well... She also wouldn't leave him alone until he agreed to come back to Hogwarts again. But he did miss seeing her... Even it did kill him to see her. She was probably off talking to Harvey or this 'Nash'... And if she was, Brodie really didn't want to see her.
He turned and hugged Vik to the best of his ability, telling her he'd be home as soon as he could and he'd find someone to help him with the bags hopefully. He watched his friend go before turning with a sigh, Well, Hogwarts... let's get this last year over with...
Mmmm.
But she was making excuses because she was nervous. There would be no buts or anything tagged onto what she was saying if she wasn't...of course, it wasn't a bad thing. Her excuses were mostly concerning her friends, well, mostly West. Yeah, that was a thing. All the fifth year knew from West was that he and Snaps spoke. 'Sides, she had just said as much. Being that he wasn't one to pry, he figured he'd let that alone.
If Derry wanted to tell him, she would. Derry never had that problem, over sharing.
"You're the most opinionated person I know," Ascanius laughed, "And you don't think YOU can handle try outs. Please, Snaps." He playfully nudged her side to diffuse the tension. Smile, Derry. He wasn't the worlds biggest fan of down on herself Derry, yeah?
But there wasn't much of anything he could do about her anxiety. He knew better then most what that was like, so he would let her stress. Just hopefully s'not the long lasting type. 'Sides, she typically bounced back pretty quickly. The fifth year was just hoping that now would be one of those times.
Jeez, okay. He was holding Lando now. She couldn't give him even the slightest heads up? Nah, 'course not. Why in the world would she warn him about anything. Wishful thinking. But he WOULD take the shortbread. Petting Lando behind the ears, he nodded, "Please."

Opinionated? PSH. ... The wasn't a good thing. Was it? Hmph. Okay, maybe he just said that cause she told him most of her opinions - she could keep them to herself you know. He was just her best friend and whatever. "I could totally handle it if it wasn't you guys." Cause they were her friends n stuff. "But if you think you can use that as an excuse to get out of tryouts you can think again." she added quickly, sending him a little grin and pulling a little bit of straw off her jacket. Seriously that stuff was like glitter, it just got everywhere
Derry was, of course, oblivious to the fact that Ascanius hadn't been fully prepared for cat holding, being more occupied with producing shortbread. "It's got cherries in it this time." Which just meant it was better. Cherries were cool. She held the box out to him - it only took one hand to hold a cat right? Especially a blissed out cat, and since Lando was basically infatuated with Ascanius he wasn't kicking up much of a fuss.
She was sure there was other things to say to Ascanius. Since she made mental lists of things she wanted to talk about to certain people. But she couldn't think what it was... meh. She'd get round to it. Maybe she should make proper lists instead. Hmmm. But that was a lot of effort.

Alec pushed his trolley, with a bag of sweets on top, along the platform, his grey-blue eyes scanning the crowd for familiar faces. Probably someone who didn't think he was weird and was about to lead them to crash into a wall. ... Not... that that Ladysaurus Olly girl thought that, probably, but you never know, yeah? She did look at him weirdly every now and then, back at the wall.
Anyways, he had friends to see! The Hufflepuff craned his neck this way and that as he looked around for a familiar head of blonde hair. It was weird, actually, because Alec hadn't seen Tag that many times over the summer. Only twice! And one of those times included mattress surfing at the leprechaun's house so... the two were prepared for some of the things they had planned for the upcoming year.
Regardless. It wasn't great that he hadn't seen the Gryffindor at--
OH?
Alec tilted his head and watched the interaction between someone he thought he knew -- did he? ... Maybe not -- and someone he definitely didn't know at all. But his grey-blue eyes were on the familiar looking boy whose arm was in a sling. Poor dude. Alec wouldn't know how he's cope if his own arm was in a sling and he couldn't Seek. Once the girl left, the boy mustered up what little courage he had coursing within him and headed over towards the other boy. Words. Introductions. Summer talk. This was going to be EASY PEASY.
"Sweets?" he asked, shaking the sweets bag gently.

Brodie still looked around, not able to make his mind up if he wanted to see Taylor would show up. He kept looking, not noticing someone walking up to him until he heard the words 'sweets' Was this person talking to him. He looked at the other boy who seemed just a little younger then himself and just gave a slight shake of his head, "No thanks." He pulled half a smile, hoping it would just seem like he wasn't hungry.
Which he wasn't, but he had lost a few pounds, eating just wasn't much of a thing for him with everything that had happened with Taylor. He maybe ate once a day and even that was small, but it filled him, and anything to do with sweets just seemed to make him nauseous. He gave a kind nod hello though to the boy, "I ate before I came." Always excuses right? Better to seem like the small quarter of a sandwich was bigger than that if he happened to ask about it...
"But, I'm Brodie, seventh year Huffie." He offered his hand. He knew it was horribly american, but some still saw it as polite.
"Yeah, I suppose your right about that, I would like to have some real friends." it sure would be nice to have a friend, one who actually liked her. Red remembered primary school, where she had only one friend, who turned out to hate her.
"I can't wait to start!" she said, "Anything I want to know? Well, I suppose, does the Sorting hurt? My dad told me it was really painful," Red said, it probably wasn't true, but it was better to make sure.

Alec studied the boy's face carefully, silently wondering whether he had actually seen the boy before. Some people had one of those faces, yeah? And he ended up thinking that he knew them from... somewhere... but that wasn't the case. But he definitely had a gut feeling that he knew this guy from somewhere.
... Oh? "Okay!" he said, shrugging his shoulders and smiling back at the boy. At least Mystery Dude was smiling. And he SEEMED nice, too. "What did you end up having?" He reached a hand into the bag of sweets and brought out one particularly sugary one before popping it into his mouth.
MYSTERY DUDE WENT TO HOGWARTS! "I knew I recognised you!" GRIN. ... Wait... that could be creepy. "Erm... I mean..." He reached up a hand and ruffled his hair before continuing, "It's great to meet you, Brodie! I'm Alec, sixth year Hufflepuff!" And he held out his hand for the guy to shake. Manners, see. He had those.

"Just a sandwich and some chips but I don't really eat that much." He shrugged, He'd grown use to having to lie about that at least. He looked at him then gave a small chuckle, "It's fine. I've only gone once before so not many people do recognize me." He nodded.
But... this guy was in his house and he didn't recongnize him? Huh, leave it to Brodie to be too busy sketching to pay attention to who else was there while he sat in the corner being the loner he was... Well, minus when Taylor was around... He stopped himself before those thoughts started to go a little further.
But if he was to be honest, "I'd rather just go back to my home schooling... I don't really know anyone and now the one person I went there to be with can't even speak to me without mentioning... others." He wasn't going to say names... This Alec kid could be friends with either Harvey or Nash and he didn't want them thinking he hated them... Well, he did but at the same time he didn't know Nash and he actually got along with Harvey after they talked... He just hated them because Taylor had a crush on both of them.

Alec didn't really understand the concept of not eating much but that probably had a little something to do with the fact that he was really good friends with Tag Kildare; the two boys practically came up with their own feast idea! "That doesn't sound bad..." Chips, though. CHIPS! "Chips and sandwiches sound a lot better than spinach."
Spinach. Shudder.
... Dude had only been to Hogwarts once before? Only ONCE?! "Oh! Well, I'm glad you're going back again," Really. Nodnod. "And hey, you could make more friends this year. Hufflepuff's a really welcoming house!" And they were stereotypically known for being the nicest but... that wasn't always the case. He wasn't going to mention that little fact, though.
Home schooling. Alec didn't know what to think about that since he had never been home schooled before. It wasn't as if he could relate to it and give sound advice, yeah? But something he could relate to was that tiny hint of... was it jealousy? Whatever it was, he could relate to it. Nodnod. "Do you... think this person's replacing you?" ... No! NO! This was meant to be HAPPY. "Erm... I'm sure the other people don't have the kind of friendship you have with... this friend." Man, he wasn't good at this.

It was better than spinach? Brodie definitely needed to remember not everyone was the same as his friends... they just didn't throw out weird comments like that. He gave a weak smile though and nodded, "Yeah, I'd have to agree with you." Hey, he was trying to be nice and social, it was just weird for him to talk to new people.
"I know they are... I'm just normally keep to myself." Brodie gave a small nod, "And aside from Taylor I never really had anyone else to talk to, it seemed." And that kinda was the truth, he was just fine talking to Taylor and no one else, if he was to be honest. But that might seem rude to him so he didn't want to throw that out there.
"Both of them seem to be." He admitted, "Make a long story short, she kissed someone else while we were dating," He didn't really know why he didn't say her name, he'd already said who it was, so did it really matter? *Shrug* Oh well, "Then on his advice hid it from me. She told me about it nearly half a year later I told her I needed a bit of time to think. She ran off before I could explain, and the same person who told her not to tell me about the kiss told her I never loved her." Okay, maybe this wasn't a short version... but it was the shortest one he had, "Then I'd ended up in the hospital, she came to see me. She kissed me, and then turned around and told me all about this Nash guy..." Oh oops... name slip, oh well, "And then after I had flat lined for about a minute and had woken up she scowled and yelled at me until I agreed to come back to Hogwarts."

"Awesome!" he said, nodding. Spinach tasted horrible and anyone who knew him knew that he hated the stuff. And hey! Now this dude knew too! GRIN. "If you get hungry on the train, though, I have sweets!" And he gave the bag another wiggle!shake. He had lots more and sharing was caring, yeah?
... Oh. So... Dude was more... of the quiet type? "That's... kind of sad, you know," Really. Alec wouldn't call himself popular but people seemed to know him and... well... he was always surrounded by someone to talk to. And if not, he'd find someone to talk to, simple as. "Well... now you have me and I could introduce you to people!" Maybe the Hufflepuff house could have a big picnic in a blanket fort? Ells would like that too!
...
O_______________O
Alec's eyebrows rose... and rose... and rose as the guy talked about this Taylor friend of his and what had happened. This... was probably starting to make a little bit more sense. He would definitely go and hide if Ells ended up kissing another dude. "I... erm... I'm sorry, mate," Were they even mates? ... And speaking of mates, he said something about Nash. Uh oh. "Nashville Cash?" That very same Nash? "Erm... but... are you okay? I mean... you were in hospital and... yeah..." BLINK. "And, see, maybe this friend could be moving on...?" Why was he getting the feeling that that was the wrong thing to say?
Opinionated? PSH. ... The wasn't a good thing. Was it? Hmph. Okay, maybe he just said that cause she told him most of her opinions - she could keep them to herself you know. He was just her best friend and whatever. "I could totally handle it if it wasn't you guys." Cause they were her friends n stuff. "But if you think you can use that as an excuse to get out of tryouts you can think again." she added quickly, sending him a little grin and pulling a little bit of straw off her jacket. Derry was, of course, oblivious to the fact that Ascanius hadn't been fully prepared for cat holding, being more occupied with producing shortbread. "It's got cherries in it this time." Us guys? Oh, her friends, right. Well, no one said being captain was going to be easy, yeah? Jeez, he didn't have all the answers, so he was just gonna listen and be the supportive best friend over in the corner. 'Course, it was gonna get really awkward up in the Common Room, he could already feel it. Mhmm.
Taking two steps forward, he took some hay out of her hay and dropped it to the platform. She was on her way to Hogwarts, not the stables, yeah? Snaps needed to get back in the zone.
Smirking at her, he shrugged, "I dunno, Snaps. You never know. I'm pretty crafty." As to the trying out bit. He was currently trying NOT to think much about heights, lest he threw up or worse. The anxiety was already creeping up on him and he was no where near a Pitch.
Grinning down at the shortbread, he took a bite and made a definite yummy noise, "S'good. You brought me some, right?" After all, she HAD promised and stuff. And he took shortbread very seriously. Smirk.
