“No, let me, Tonks. I need to be the one to talk to him,” she sighed. George kissed her cheek and then Emily went after him. She searched the other rooms and finally found him in the room with Buckbeak.

Emily knocked softly on the door before entering. Remus was sitting by Buckbeak, petting his feathers. He looked up swiftly, and then brought his attention back to the animal and the floor. There was a patch of hardwood to his left that was heavily dusty. He started drawing in it with his forefinger. He drew a huge circle, and then he started writing in it. Emily read it upside down. When he finished, it said “Meet you under the moon”. Emily sighed and sat down in front of him. Her ring glistened against the light that was in the room.

“Rems,” she whispered. He didn’t look up. Emily scooted forward until the tips of their shoes were barely touching. She put her left hand on his knee. He stared at her engagement ring.

“I remember when Padfoot gave that to Amelia. She was so happy,” he said. “They were a year older than you.”

“Rems,” she said again. He put his hand on top of hers and sighed.

“No sugar coatings, okay?” he said. Emily nodded.

“I love him, Rems, you know that,” she whispered.

“I know, but you’re so young. Why can’t you wait a couple years?” he asked.

“We don’t want to wait,” she said softly. She squeezed his fingertips, and he finally met her gaze.

“Ems,” he whispered.

“I love you, Remus John Lupin,” she said. “You aren’t going to lose me.”

“What do you—” he began.

“Don’t even try denying it. I know that’s what’s been on your mind. Just because I’m marrying George and that Sirius has been around doesn’t mean you’re going to lose me. I will always be your little girl,” she promised. He nodded slowly, sorrow and pain still in his eyes. “And if you want to, I was hoping you’d walk me down the aisle. I love Fred and all, but I want you to do it.”

He looked up at her, a little happiness ebbing away his pain. “What about Sirius? Isn’t that his job? He’ll be heartbroken,” Remus said.

“I actually wanted both of you to do it. Both of my fathers should walk me down the aisle,” Emily said softly.

Remus cracked a smile and Emily smiled in return. “I’d love to walk you down the aisle,” Remus said.

“Good because I would have killed you if you didn’t!” Emily chuckled. She stood up on her knees and fell into Remus’ chest, hugging him as he congratulated her on her engagement. He kissed her hair and told her he was proud of her.

Emily and Remus made their way down to the kitchen together. Everyone was standing round. As they made their way in, every eye turned to them, but they just smiled. Emily made her way over to George, who stretched his arms out just in time.

“Hi,” she breathed into his chest.

“Hiya back,” he chuckled. “I’m guessing everything is good?”

“Mmmhmm,” she said.

“Alright, lovebirds, why don’t you guys go to the sitting room while I make everybody dinner?” Mrs. Weasley said. They all chuckled and moved into the sitting room. George led Emily to an armchair where she snuggled up into his lap. Fred sat on the floor beside them while Tonks, Remus, and Sirius took the couch. Moody sat in another chair while Kingsley magically made another chair appear.

“Have y’all thought of where you’re going to have it?” Tonks asked cheerfully. Her hair was neon purple today.

Emily glanced up at George. Their eyes locked as they shook their heads. “We haven’t really decided much, but I have an idea of where she wants it,” George said with a toothy grin.

Emily sat up straighter in his lap. “You do?” she asked him, confused.

“Mmmhmm,” he replied. He pulled her face down to him and whispered in her ear.

“Are you serious?” she squealed. She kissed his cheek. “Is that where you want it though? I want us both to be happy,” she said.

George chuckled. “The only thing I care about is the girl I’m getting married to. I don’t care where we have it, Ems. You get to decide that one, but since I know you’ll just keep asking until I agree, I think it’s a brilliant idea to have it there.”

Emily kissed his cheek again. “Then yes, we’ve decided on a place.” She smiled widely at everyone. But then her smile faltered. “Wait, we can’t,” she frowned.

“Why not?” George asked.

“Because that hag is still there, and Dumbledore’s not,” she said.

“Oh yeah, I forgot about that. We’ll think of something,” he promised.

“If you’re talking about the school, I doubt that Umbridge will be in charge much longer. Albus has a feeling that she’ll be gone before the term ends,” Kingsley said.

“Where were you going to have it at the school?” asked Tonks with a smile.

“Under our tree,” Emily breathed. “We carved our initials on the bark,” she smiled. George grinned, kissing her hair.

“Who’s going to walk you down the aisle?” asked Moody.

Emily blushed as she glanced at the couch. Remus smiled slightly while Sirius fidgeted with his shirt. “I actually wanted both of my fathers to walk me down the aisle. Remus has already agreed. So, what do you say, Dad?” Emily asked quietly.

Sirius looked up at her with a tear in his eye. “I would be honored to walk you down the aisle, Ems. I wish your mother could see you. She would be very proud of you, and she would have loved George,” Sirius laughed.

“I wish she were here too,” Emily said as she played with her ring.

“Who is going to be your Maid of Honor?” Tonks asked.

Emily chuckled at her interest. “I’m going to ask Ginny. She’s my best girl friend,” Emily said. Tonks nodded. “Oh, gosh, have you decided on all your groomsmen?” she asked as she twisted in George’s lap to look at him.

“I think I have an idea,” he smiled. “Have you thought about all your bridesmaids?”

“Er, well, I’m going to ask Hermione and probably Luna. And I was going to ask Tonks if she would like to.” Emily glanced at Tonks, whose eyes were large. Her hair turned into a bright bubble gum pink and her smile was large. The truth was that ever since she had moved into Grimmauld Place, she and Tonks had become very close. Tonks is where Emily would always go for advice and to talk. Tonks was like her older sister, almost like a mother figure.

“I’D LOVE TO!” she exclaimed. “You really want me in your wedding?” she asked.

Emily nodded. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Tonks grinned, completely happy. Everyone chuckled at her.

“Do you know what colors you’re going to want for the bridesmaids; I’ll change my hair so it’s the same color!”

Emily giggled. “Tonks, I just got engaged this morning, I haven’t thought much about the colors.”

“But if you had to decide right now, what would you lean more towards?” she persisted.

“Probably this color,” she said, indicating to the sea colored bow on her dress.

“That’s my favorite color on you,” George whispered.

“I know,” she replied with a smile. “That’s why I’m choosing it.” She kissed his cheek. “Unless you’d rather have a different color?” she asked.

“Nah, I think that color is perfect,” he smiled. He buried his face in her hair and she giggled.

“You two are so cute together!” Tonks squealed. Emily and George laughed. They listened as the front door opened and closed with a clunk. Footsteps were heard as they walked down the stairs to the kitchen. About five minutes later, they heard footsteps coming towards them.

“So, I’ve heard that you two have some news to share?” Albus Dumbledore asked with a twinkle in his eyes. He stared over at George and Emily. Emily’s breath caught as she felt him survey her.

“We’re, er,” Emily started. She looked back at George and smiled. “We’re getting married!” she told him.

Dumbledore chuckled. “Ah, young love, what a beautiful thing,” he murmured. “Congratulations to both of you, and I hope I’m on the guest list.” He smiled at the couple.

Emily nodded quickly. “Of course you’re on the guest list, professor,” she said. She looked back at George. “Hey, do you think McGonagall would be a bridesmaid? We’re somewhat close,” she said. George shrugged his shoulders.

“Professor McGonagall, Miss Black,” Dumbledore said.

“Right, sorry, professor,” Emily blushed.

“I think Minerva would be delighted to be a part of it,” he added. Emily nodded seriously.

Molly announced that dinner was ready, so everybody ate. Sirius and Remus had decorated the dining room with balloons and banners that said their congratulations. Emily and George shared the head of the table, their fingers interlaced.

Hi Emily, Look I'm here and it's not hours and days passed your posting! This was a precious chapter, and it's wonderful to see the plans unfold for a very wonderful marriage. It's good Remus came around without much pouting. Emily did a good job talking to him.
I figured they'd want to get married under their tree.
I love Tonks's enthuseasm. Emily should let her be the wedding planner.

Finally, I have caught up. I'm super-sorry Emily but I hadn't been on in a couple of days and I got a floodof PMs with new posts Just a few things to say!!

I also just thought about Emily and all the people that she will lose. Sirius in book 5, Lupin and Tonks in book 7, Freddie in book 7, then she will have a new little brother (well kinda, not blood-related but still)

One question, did you think about all of this when you started writing this? Like she would have a new sibling and lose everybody?? Or did it just become part of the story because of who she is??

Can you invite us all to the wedding? That would be really good like have Weasley cousins called Kerri, Sophie, Katie, Abi and everyone else who reads this amzaing FF!!!

Hmmm, good question. It's kind of both. Like, some things I knew were going to happen and I knew how I was going to write that bit. But others just fell into place with who she was and how the story took off. Like for the very last post, before the epilogue, I knew exactly what was going to happen and how it would end, even if I hadn't gotten to that developtment in the story. I actually wrote that bit near the beginning of the story

The rest of April and all of May came and gone with a snap of the fingers. Emily and George planned their wedding as much as they could without a location. They decided on colors, flowers, and the guest list. They both had their bridesmaids and groomsmen picked out. Though Ginny didn’t know it yet, she was the Maid of Honor while Fred would be the Best Man. June had arrived. Emily vaguely wondered how Hermione, Ron, and Harry were doing with the O.W.L.s. She missed them and Ginny, but she was happy with George, and even Fred. Emily and the twins talked to Ginny every night via mirror. She seemed depressed half the time, but Emily knew it would just be a matter of time before they were all together again for summer. The happy couple decided that they didn’t want to tell them about the wedding until they were face to face, so they decided to announce it at the train station when they picked everyone up.

Dumbledore kept them updated on most goings on at Hogwarts, but even then, they felt sheltered. Nobody in the Order would tell them about the “secret weapon”. Emily’s nights started getting restless at the end of May. She was paranoid, but didn’t know why. She felt like she was going to lose somebody, but didn’t know whom. She never stayed away from George for long, just hours at a time. It made her jumpy to be away, like at any moment he would be ripped away from her. Little did she know, George wasn’t the one being ripped away.

On a late June night, Emily, Fred, and George were having a conversation about what new products they could create for the shop. George and Emily were sitting in one armchair while Fred was in the other, a Butterbeer in all of their hands. They were laughing and joking and having a merry time when they heard a knock upon the door to their flat. Fred got up slowly, wondering who it could be.

“Remus, how nice of you—” Fred’s smile faltered as he studied Remus’ sorrowful and painful expression.

Emily got up quickly and went to her Godfather’s aid. “What’s wrong? Remus, are you all right? What’s happened?” she asked frantically. She tried to steer him to a chair, but he wouldn’t budge.

“E-Emily, we need to talk,” he said slowly. He had tears welling up in his eyes. Emily was on the verge of tears too, but didn’t know why. She couldn’t bear to see someone that she loved feel this much pain.

Remus put his hands on Emily’s shoulders and looked deep into her eyes. Tears overlapped his lids and she wiped them away. He could barely speak, and he looked like he had seen a ghost.

“Sirius—” he choked out. Emily’s heart went to the tips of her toes. What about Sirius could make Remus act like this? There was only one thing and she knew it.

“Just say it,” she whispered as her tears started falling down her cheeks. She needed to hear it.

“He’s...dead, Emily,” he whispered. And Emily completely broke down. She collapsed in her Godfather’s arms and they sunk to the floor. Emily sobbed into his chest as he held her, crying as well.

Emily calmed down, but only slightly, after thirty minutes. “How did it happen?” she asked quietly. She couldn’t look at him, wouldn’t look at him.

“There was a fight at the Ministry,” Remus said quietly. “Death Eaters were trying to get a prophecy about Harry and Voldemort. Harry saw Sirius being attacked by V-Voldemort in one of his vision things,” he said. Emily let out a sob. “Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and Luna all went to the Ministry.”

“What?” Emily, George, and Fred all asked at the same time. Emily leaned back, finally looking at him.

“They’re fine,” Remus said. “They got into fights with Death Eaters but they’re fine. The Order was informed and we all went to help. Sirius was supposed to stay behind but he wouldn’t. We all got into battle with Death Eaters. There was nothing I could do. My hands were tied up with other Death Eaters. And then,” he said, looking into the distance as if he were somewhere else, remembering a nightmare, “he was laughing and he didn’t see it coming, and she killed him. He fell through the veil,” Remus said. Tears brushed down his cheeks as he looked down at Emily.

“Who was it?” she asked quietly.

Remus shook his head, knowing her thoughts. “You can’t,” he said gruffly.

“Who did it?” she asked again, danger in her tone.

“Stop it, Emily! You can’t be serious! I’m not letting you go after her! I don’t want you anywhere near her!” he said, his voice getting higher by the second.

“Who. Killed. My. Father. Remus?” Emily asked. Her face was tormented in pain and anger.

“I’m not letting you go anywhere near Bellatrix—” Remus started to say. As soon as he said it, he wanted the words to come back. He raised his hand to his mouth and stared at her, shaking his head angrily. Emily started to stand. She made her way to her and George’s bed to get her wand. Remus stood too. “Emily, don’t do this!” he yelled.

“Emily, I can’t let you go,” George whispered. Emily looked at him, tears in her eyes. He looked pained, and it broke Emily’s already shattered heart.

“George, I have to—” she started. He walked over to her and placed his hands on either side of her face. His right hand extended back into her hair.

“I’m not going to lose you, Emily. You aren’t going anywhere,” he said through clenched teeth.

“So, what? I’m just supposed to stay here while she gets to go on and live? She’s out there having a merry little laugh, and I don’t get to stop her?” Emily asked angrily.

“I just lost the last of my best friends. I’m not about to lose my daughter too. I vowed to protect you when I took you in. I am not going to let you walk right into a death trap,” Remus said.

Emily’s tears came in strangled breaths. “I—He—I didn’t get to...say goodbye,” she cried. She fell into George’s chest. He led her over to their bed and Remus sat beside them. Emily cried into the crook of George’s neck as Remus clasped both of her hands in his.


Emily’s whole week basically consisted of bed rest. Remus stopped by every day. He tried to get her to get out of bed and get some tea with him, but she refused. She didn’t want to get out. She didn’t want to see the world that Sirius would never get to see again.

It was the day that the Hogwarts’ students would be coming home for summer vacation, and Emily still didn’t get out of bed. Remus tried to get her to, but she wouldn’t budge. He finally went to George and asked if he could do something.

“I’ll try,” George promised as he walked past Remus and up the stairs to their flat. He looked over at their bed and saw Emily curled into a ball, facing the other way. He lay down next to her, wrapping his arm around her waist. She turned in his arms and rested her head on his chest.

“Ems,” he whispered.

“Did he ask you to come get me?” she whispered into his skin. George nodded.

“You can’t stay up here forever, Ems,” he said quietly.

“I know, I just—” Emily paused. “He won’t ever get to see the world again, why should I be allowed?” she asked.

“Sirius wouldn’t want you to think that, Ems. He loved you so much and would want you to be happy,” he whispered into her hair. “He would want you to live your life, not dwell in it in a small flat above a joke shop,” he chuckled lightly. She joined him for a moment before stopping.

“I’m scared,” she whispered, letting a tear stain his shirt.

“Don’t be, I’ll be with you the whole way,” he promised. “Besides, today’s the day we’re supposed to tell everybody about our engagement,” he said, shaking her slightly.

She pulled back to look at him. “You’re right; I guess Sirius wouldn’t want me to waste away in this place. And I do miss Ginny and the others,” she said. George kissed her forehead and rolled them out of the bed, landing on the floor with a thud. They both chuckled before Emily stood up and made her way to the bathroom.

*cries* Awww... so sad! But it was a good thing that George was there! He always knows how to comfort her. And I'm glad that she was able to move on, because that is what Sirius would have wanted. Still... so sad... no more Sirius! =[ But other than that, it was a great post, my dear... and I expect more soon. Like... tomorrow!!! =D PAMS Emily!
