Summer was the complete opposite of last year’s. Not only were more people cautious because of the sudden return of Voldemort, but summer was also filled with much love. George and Emily were almost inseparable. The Order of the Phoenix was stationed at Sirius’ house, so she moved into Grimmauld Place. She got to see a lot more of her father, but less and less of Remus. He was sent on missions and sent to protect certain people, and she missed him dearly. Though she had Sirius, nobody could replace Remus. But somebody did occupy her time enough for her to not miss him as much. George. George and her had a happy summer, crazy in love. They mainly made people sick, but they were still happy for the couple.

Fred and Ginny teased them, but neither Emily nor George cared. As long as nobody came between them, nothing could go wrong, and they would be happy Forever and Always. Emily stuck by him with his joke shop and cheered him up when his mother tried to tear it down. She always told him to never give up on his dream, because she never gave up on hers and it came true. When she said this, he was taken aback.

“Oh yeah, and what was your dream?” George asked as he trapped her in the hallway of her father’s house, wrapping his arms around her waist.

“To be with you forever,” she whispered. She kissed his cheek and he smiled.

“Ugh! Why don’t you two get a room?” Sirius joked.

“Well, if you insist, Dad,” Emily laughed. She wiggled out of George’s arms and took hold of his hand, leading him to her bedroom. They both laughed loudly, as did Sirius.

“Hilarious, Ems. Now, why don’t you go help Molly with dinner?” Sirius said.

“Why is it always the girls that get asked to help in the kitchen?” she huffed under her breath, letting go of George’s hand. “So prejudice,” she mumbled.

“You know I didn’t mean it like that, Ems,” Sirius said softly.

Emily glanced up at him and smiled politely. “I know,” she said as she moved past him towards the kitchen. She hopped down the stairs quite loudly, forgetting she wasn’t supposed to do that.

“Filth! Scum! Blood traitors and Mudbloods! How dare you befoul the house of my fathers!” screamed Emily’s sweet grandmother.

Sirius glared at Emily as she grinned back at him.

“Would you just SHUT UP already?” Sirius yelled at his mother’s portrait that was magically charmed to stay forever in the hallway. “And you are totally grounded, Emily James Remus Amelia Sirius Black!” he said with a laugh as he forced the curtains closed around her portrait. Mrs. Black finally quieted down.


The days turned to weeks and the weeks turned to months, and before any of them could even imagine it, the O.W.L.s were almost here. Umbridge was a nightmare, taking over the school with her decrees. It got even worse when Dumbledore left, leaving Umbridge in charge. Harry, Fred, and George were banned from Quidditch, which made them all extremely unhappy.

Emily wasn’t in the highest spirits of late either because of the mood around the school. She didn’t even want to be at Hogwarts anymore. And then, things turned worse for her.


“Emily, come in here, we need to talk,” whispered Fred as he peered out of a doorway to her right. She was on her way back to the Common Room to study for the tests that were quickly approaching.

“What’s up?” she asked as she slipped through the door and shut it tightly behind her. Fred was sitting on top of one of the abandoned desks and George was leaning against the wall, arms crossed, not meeting her eyes. She glanced at Fred with a worried expression before crossing the room to George. “George?” she asked quietly.

“I need to tell you something,” he whispered.

Emily’s heart sank. He surely couldn’t be breaking up with her, could he? “Just tell me,” she choked out. He looked up and immediately cupped her face in his hands. His stare was penetrating and meaningful, because he knew he wouldn’t be seeing her for possibly months.

“I’m sorry, Ems, but Fred and I are leaving,” he whispered. He moved his hands into her hair and leaned his forehead against hers. “I love you so much, never forget or doubt that. It’s just that there isn’t much left for Fred and me here. We bought a store in Diagon Alley, and we’re going to start our joke shop. Quidditch was almost the only thing that kept us here,” he said.

“What about me? You’re just going to leave? Just like that?” she whispered. A tear splashed to the floor of the classroom. Her hands hung tightly to his shirt, not wanting to let him go.

“You’re the only reason we’ve put this off so long, Ems. I couldn’t leave you. It breaks my heart, even if it is just for a few months. I love you so much, and I can’t bear to be away from you, but it’s something we’ve both decided on. We can’t take Umbridge anymore, and we don’t need to further our education when we’ve got the future planned out with our joke shop. And we can’t do Quidditch anymore and Dumbledore’s gone.” George’s fingertips wiped her tears away. “Don’t cry, you’re too beautiful to cry, my love,” he soothed.

“I can’t help it. I don’t want to be away from you,” she whispered.

“And I don’t want to be away from you, but—”

“Don’t. It’s okay, I understand.” Emily leaned her head on his chest and grabbed him tightly. George held her for a long while. “Promise me something,” she whispered against his chest.

“Anything,” he said against her hair.

“Promise me that you won’t meet some woman and fall madly in love with her, ditching me,” she chuckled lightly.

George pulled her back so he could look her in the eyes. “That could never happen, Emily James Remus Amelia Sirius Black. I’m too head over heels for you, and you aren’t getting rid of me that easily,” he joked.

“Don’t worry, love, I have no intentions of getting rid of you,” she promised with a chuckle. “When are you leaving?” she asked quietly.

“Tomorrow,” he whispered. Emily let more tears fall as George pulled her into another hug.

“Let’s not go to dinner tonight, let’s stay in Gryffindor tower,” she said. George nodded and Fred said okay. Of course he was included. She was going to miss both of her best friends.

The trio walked back up to their Common Room. George was still holding Emily tightly while her right hand was occupied by Fred’s hand. Emily’s water works had stopped a while ago, but her eyes were still glazed over. Nobody was waiting for them when they walked through the portrait hole.

“They must have already gone down,” Fred said. George and Emily nodded. George led Emily over to the love seat while Fred sat on one of the good armchairs. Emily curled up into George’s lap while he kissed her forehead.

“I don’t want to say goodbye,” Emily whispered.

“Don’t say goodbye. I’ll see you soon, baby,” George soothed. Emily nodded against his chest.

“I’m going to go finish packing my things,” Fred said quietly. “So I won’t have much to do tomorrow morning,” he explained.

“Okay,” George said. Emily nodded against his chest. “I think he just wanted to give us some privacy,” George whispered into her hair.

“I knew there was a reason I liked him,” Emily chuckled. George laughed lightly. Emily maneuvered herself on his lap so she was sitting right on top, her legs wound around his waist. Emily looked him in the eyes. “I love you more than anything,” she whispered.

“As I love you, my sweet,” he whispered. She smiled at him and he returned it.

“You better write me every day,” she said.

“I have something better,” George promised.

“What?” Emily asked, intrigued.

“I have these mirrors. Your Dad gave me the two that Remus and Peter had. He has his and Harry has James’. All you have to do is say my name and I’ll be right there,” he promised. She smiled, happier to know she could see him every day.

“I’ll still miss you,” she whispered, leaning her head against his.

“I know, and I’ll miss you the same,” he said.

“Georgie,” she whispered before she twisted her head. Her insides melted as she kissed the love of her life for what seemed like forever.

Awwww... it's so bittersweet! I'm happy and I'm sad! I'm happy because they love each other so much and they're together and happy (finally), but I'm also sad because now they're sad. =[ But I have a bad feeling about this... I feel like some foreshadowing was in the post. I feel like George is going to meet a girl and fall in love with her... but then, maybe I'm just looking too far into it. And maybe I'm not giving George enough credit... ha ha! I just feel like some good old drama is coming up... =/ I hope you prove me wrong, Emily. But an amazing post, nonetheless! =D

Hello Emily, another great post! Sad it's always one or the other! I always felt so badly for Remus! They're just not in the comfort zone 100% yet are they. Not like her and Remus. But, it's coming. Me too! The great toad! Oh no! This feeling is universal all over the world. Every girl reading this knows what Emily is thinking right now. There's nothing worse than feeling like a third wheel, except being one.
Great post Emily. I'll be watching for the next.

It was the night before the twins were to leave and everyone was tucked peacefully into their beds except for two. Emily lay awake and stared at the ceiling. All she could think about was George. They had stayed in that love seat until around midnight in each other’s arms. George would whisper in her ear about their future. He promised her that once she was out of school, they would get married and start a family. They would live in a house near the beach, and they would be together forever and always with their five kids. Emily wanted a big family because she’s never had one, and George agreed.

George was also awake, also staring at the ceiling. He kept picturing himself with his red haired beauty on their beach in their future. He wanted that future to start tomorrow, bright and early, but unfortunately, it was going to be a few years. He sighed, fluffing his pillow up.

Emily huffed quietly, no longer able to stay away from him, especially when he was leaving her tomorrow. She quietly scooted out of her bed and made for the door. She silently opened it and closed it behind her. She quietly opened the door to George and Fred’s room, shutting it behind her. She heard movement from George’s bed, and then saw him peer out from behind the curtains. She smiled at him and he grinned wide, clearly glad to see her. He patted his bed, and she quickly got under his covers and snuggled up close to him as he closed the curtains back around his bed. Emily pulled her wand out from her sweats and whispered, “Muffliato.” George lay back down and Emily positioned her body on top of him.

“I couldn’t stay away,” Emily whispered.

“I’m glad,” George chuckled.

“Couldn’t sleep?” she asked him.

“You kidding? How could I? All I could think about was you and me and our future,” George whispered. He tucked one of her curls behind her ear.

“Me too,” she whispered back. “I’ve been thinking, Georgie,” Emily said.

“Oh yeah? What about?” he asked.

“Well, you know how it’s killing the both of us that we’re going to be apart for so long?” she asked. George nodded. “Well, I have a solution.” George just looked at her with his eyebrows raised. “I could come with you,” she said slowly.

George stiffened. “You can’t come, Emily,” he said slowly, not wanting to upset her. Emily looked away from him. George took both of his hands and placed them on both sides of her face. “Don’t be upset,” George pleaded. “Ems, you know you can’t come. I love you—you know that. And I want you to come more than anything, but you have to finish your education.”

“Why? You’re not,” she accused.

“Yes, but I’m starting a joke shop, Ems. You want to be a Healer and an Auror. You have to finish your education,” he said.

Emily huffed and laid her head on his chest, deciding to not argue because she knew he was right.

“Are you upset?” he asked softly.

“No, just frustrated,” she said.

“Don’t be. School will rush by quickly and then you and I will be together again all summer,” he promised.

“Better be,” Emily said, sighing. Emily’s hands found his and they intertwined them. “Always and forever, right?” she asked.

“Always and forever,” he vowed.

For the rest of the night, Emily and George stayed in each other’s arms, talking more of their future together and the places they would visit. They fell asleep in the wee hours of the morning with their fingers intertwined and George’s lips pressed to Emily’s hair. And that’s exactly what they looked like when they were discovered in the morning by George’s roommates.

“Time to rise and shine,” said Lee loudly as he approached George’s bed. The other boys snickered. He pulled back the curtain, ready to poor a bucket of water on his friend, when he stepped back, surprised.

“Emily! What are you doing in here?” he asked loudly. All of the other boys came closer to get a look of the sleeping couple. Fred quickly came to the side of the bed.

“Ems, George, wake up, you two,” Fred said. He shook Emily’s shoulder gently and hit George’s arm.

“Five more minutes, Rems,” Emily mumbled into George’s chest.

All of the guys snickered and Fred tried again. “Wakey, wakey,” he said.

Emily slowly opened her eyes groggily and noticed Fred’s towering figure over her, smiling wide. Her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when she realized where she was. She fumbled in the bed, scrambling, and fell over the side of the bed. George groggily woke up.

“Wuzzgoinon?” he asked sleepily. Emily peeked her head over the bed frame with a shy smile.

“Georgie, wake up, it’s morning,” she said. George’s eyes opened. The first thing he saw was his brother and the rest of the guys in his year, and then he looked over at Emily, who had fallen out of the bed and onto the floor. He thought it was hysterical. George started laughing loudly and held out his hand to Emily.

“Get back over here,” he said through laughs. Emily took it with a grin and crawled back in bed with him. Fred sat on the end of the bed as Emily snuggled back into George’s side. “You are a goofball,” he laughed as he kissed her hair.

“So, you were here all night?” asked Fred with a snicker.

“Yeah, basically,” answered Emily.

“Huh, interesting,” he said.

Emily looked at him crossly, and he grinned and winked at her. “Fred Weasley! Get your mind out of the gutter!” she yelled at him. All of the boys howled with laughter, while a few wolf whistled. Fred winked at her, and Emily grabbed one of George’s pillows and threw it at him. Fred did a back flip out of the bed, landing with a thud on the hardwood, and snickered. She stuck her tongue out at him and he chuckled.

“Mmmm, I think I better go get dressed and what not,” Emily whispered against George’s chest.

“Mmmkay,” whispered George against her hair. He kissed her forehead and she kissed his cheek. She wiggled out of his bed with his hoodie still on her. She had gotten cold early this morning, and he fished it out of his packed trunk for her.

Emily went and showered and prettied herself up for her boyfriend’s departure. She put on her blue skinny jeans with a white T-shirt and white ballet flats. On top of her shirt, she snuggled back into George’s white hoodie. She smelled the fabric, which smelled just like him. It was sweet, but homey. It was her favorite smell in the world. It was a mixture of chocolate, wood, pine, roses, and ginger. She closed her eyes and sighed at its warmth. She jabbed her wand at her hair and it turned into curly q’s. She put on light makeup, making sure her mascara was waterproof since she knew she was going to cry.

Emily went to her normal classes that day, but after Herbology, she went back to her dormitory. Fred and George had told her that it was around this time that they would pull their stunt, and she had no intentions to watch it. She didn’t want to watch George leave her, so they said their good-byes earlier, right after breakfast, and she had been a mess since. All of her teachers asked her what was wrong, but she just held back her tears, smiled politely, and whispered “nothing.” Emily crawled into her bed and curled up into a ball, as phase one was about to begin. Emily heard a crash from the floors below her and started to weep.
