Here's the new posty!

The next week or so, Emily stayed away from dating, seeing as she was grounded. She watched Ravenclaw beat Slytherin and Harry struggle with his studies, Quidditch practice, and his private lessons with her Godfather. She felt bad for him, but she wouldn’t even talk to him. Her and Fred talked on occasion, usually just through letters though because he was always with George. And that was one boy she needed to stay far away from. Emily unraveled the mystery of how Hermione was getting to her classes—she came upon the term in a book she borrowed from the library about the facets of time. She noticed the necklace around Hermione’s neck matched the one in her book perfectly and deducted that it had to be a Time-Turner. She kept it to herself though because she knew that if Hermione wanted to tell her, she would.

Emily did the basics—ate, slept, studied, went to classes, did homework, and talked when the conversations presented themselves. January faded into February, and the big game up against Ravenclaw was coming closer and closer. Emily tried to get in the spirit but to no avail. Instead of faking smiles and cheery emotions, she buried her nose in her books, reading ahead of everybody, with the exception of Hermione of course. The only male Emily hung out with was Remus. She spent full moons with him and had tea from time to time. One time, they even went for a walk early in the morning. It reminded her of their walks on the beach.

There was a bit of excitement, I guess you could say, one night when Ron found blood and some ginger hairs on his bed. He blamed Hermione and her “bloody cat,” and that pretty much ended their relationship. Even Harry couldn’t see how they’d make up.

Game day arrived, and Emily promised Ginny that she’d watch the game with her. They made their way down for breakfast and sat near the middle. All five Weasleys were there, but Emily only really talked to two—Fred and Ginny. Harry arrived with his Firebolt, which caused a lot of chaos and whispering. Even Draco came over for a closer look.

“Sure you can manage that broom, Potter?” he asked, his eyes glistening maliciously.

“Yeah, reckon so,” Harry answered.

“Got plenty of special features, hasn’t it? Shame it doesn’t come with a parachute—in case you get too near a Dementor,” Draco said with a smirk. Crabbe and Goyle snickered.

“Pity you can’t attach an extra arm to yours, Malfoy. Then it could catch the snitch for you,” Harry replied casually. Even Emily had to crack a laugh at that one. Draco walked off and joined his team.

At a quarter to eleven, Emily, Ginny, Hermione, and Ron made their way to the Quidditch pitch. They found seats in the stands with a good view. Emily vaguely listened to Lee announce the game. She found herself watching everything blur around her. The only thing she really could make out was red hair from the beaters.

“Emily? Yoo-hoo? Are you there?” Ginny asked, waving her hand in front of Emily’s face. Ginny giggled as Emily snapped out of it.

“Sorry ‘bout that,” Emily giggled.

“What were you thinking about?” Ginny asked.

“Oh you know, just studying and what not,” Emily lied.

Ginny gave her an “I don’t believe you” look, and Emily just shrugged. Ginny was about to object to letting it go when Harry caught the snitch. They looked down and saw four hooded figures sprawled out on the ground. Emily leaned over the edge of the railing to see Draco and three others struggling to get their black robes off. Emily giggled as she realized that they had tried to act like Dementors, but Harry had stopped them. Emily and Ginny made their way to the Gryffindor Common Room where there was bound to be a party.

Ginny joined some girls from her year and Emily sat awkwardly on one of the armchairs, staring at the fire.

“Come with us,” someone whispered in her ear.

Emily hesitated, but decided to follow the twins anyway. She needed to get out of there. “Where are we going?” Emily asked as they walked down a hall and into one of the secret passageways to Hogsmeade.

“Going to get some party supplies,” Fred grinned. Fred led the way, leaving a bit of a distance between him and Emily and George as they walked down a long pathway.

“I’ve wanted to talk to you,” George whispered.

“Oh? What about?” Emily asked indifferently as she stared ahead.

“Ems, I want us to be friends again,” he whispered. “I’ve missed you.”

“I’ve missed you too, but I don’t know if that’s such a good idea, George,” Emily whispered.

“Well I think it’s a brilliant idea, especially since you’re all I can think about lately,” George whispered, frustration clear in his tone.

“Georgie,” she whispered. Then Emily did something she shouldn’t have. She made the mistake of looking over at him, deep into his eyes. She seemed in a daze as he smiled his cute little smile at her. Not watching where she was going, Emily tripped on a rock and almost fell over, but George caught her.

“Gotta watch your footing, Ems,” George chuckled. Emily nodded quickly, looking away from him. Emily sped up to catch up with Fred. George didn’t get another chance to talk to Emily. She stayed close to Fred so she wouldn’t be put into anymore private conversations. They grabbed some Butterbeers and a variety of sweets from Hogsmeade and then went back to the party in Gryffindor tower.

“How did you do that?” Angelina squealed as George started throwing sweets into the crowd. Emily quickly went to bed, not giving him another chance to talk.

Emily fell into a restless sleep. She kept having the same nightmare. She was in the forest; running from what she knew was Remus in his werewolf form. Her company kept changing. First it was Cody beside her, and then it was Oliver. It turned into Cedric and then Draco. And finally, right before she woke with a start, it turned into George. He screamed and she sat straight up in bed, panting. She heard a ruckus downstairs and went to investigate.

Ron was having a fit about Sirius Black in his room with a knife. Emily’s heart started beating rapidly in her chest. She couldn’t hear anything beyond the blood pounding in her ears. She turned extremely pale, barely able to stand. She clutched the wall for support.

Fred found Emily at the bottom of the stairs, nearly on the floor. He lifted her up and took her up the stairs, unnoticed by everyone else. They were too busy listening to McGonagall question Sir Cadogan.

“Ems? Can you hear me?” Fred asked slowly. He felt her forehead and wiped away the sweat that had conformed there.

“F-Fred?” Emily asked. Fred nodded. Emily looked around his dormitory. Everyone else was downstairs. “Fred,” Emily whispered in a sigh. Fred sat down on the bed and pulled her into his side, hugging her tightly.

“He couldn’t have—he wouldn’t have hurt—do you think—?” Emily stuttered.

“I don’t know, Ems, but him being in the boys’ dormitory with a knife isn’t looking so good for him,” Fred said quietly. Her heart rate slowed down as Fred held her.

“I’ve talked to him, Fred. He wouldn’t have hurt us or any of the others. He isn’t that kind of person, Freddie,” Emily said.

“I believe you, Ems. I don’t know what we can do about it though,” Fred stated. Emily nodded.

“Hey, Fred, why aren’t you down—” George started, coming through the doorway. He glanced at Emily and then back at Fred.

“George, we were just talking. I was going to be down in a bit,” Fred said slowly.

“Is that a dismissal? Maybe I wanted to chat too, Fredrick,” George said, narrowing his eyes.

“We talked about this, George,” Fred said impatiently.

“And where’s that Hippogriff’s hind I was going to give?” George asked sarcastically as he sat beside Emily.

“George, I don’t think—” Fred started.

“Cut it out—the both of you,” Emily snapped. Both boys stopped talking. “Look at us! What’s happened to us?” she asked angrily. Emily jumped up from the bed and started pacing the room. “We used to be inseparable, able to tell each other anything. And now—and now I’m trying to avoid you, you two are fighting, and I can barely stay in the same room with you,” she said, pointing at George.

“I can’t take it anymore!” she said exasperatedly.

“Emily, please just—” Fred started.

“I don’t want to sit down! I don’t want to relax, Fredrick!” Emily screeched.

“Can you two please stop calling me Fredrick?” Fred said impatiently.

There was a moment’s silence when Emily and George just stared at Fred, and then George started laughing hysterically, doubling over on the floor. Emily joined in, clutching her stomach.

“What is so funny?” Fred asked angrily.

“Your facial expression!” Emily got out through giggles.

“It was priceless,” George added.

Emily sat down on the bed beside Fred and grabbed his hand. George joined them on the bed, and Emily hesitantly took his hand too. It felt warm and natural. Emily pushed those thoughts aside.

“We’re supposed to be best friends,” Emily whispered.

“We are best friends,” George said.

“We haven’t been acting like it,” Fred said quietly. Emily nodded her agreement.

“I’ve missed you two,” Emily whispered. She leaned her head on George’s shoulder as they both tightened their hold on her hands.

“We’ve missed you too,” Fred and George said at the same time.

Deciding to not join the rest of their house downstairs, the trio stayed up all night, in the boys’ dormitory, talking. They caught up on what’s been going on and even cracked a few jokes. Emily told them of her extremely corny ones that Mr. Morgan had told her about the cookie and the tornado, and the twins told her that she should stay far away from comedy for her career. They laughed and joked for the rest of the night, enjoying each other’s company.

Haha, I told you it wouldn't be for a while... It's not going to be until the seventh book type thing. I've decided I'm only taking snippets from book 4, 5, 6, and 7... So, it's not going to be for a while.

Hey Emily, once again you've put up a great post. I should tell you I can't pick out even a few particular things to highlight as super, cause it's all great. Super. But, I will say that I love how you've progressed time along, and used moments from the book to show where abouts we are in the school term. I also think it's clever that Emily found out about the Time Turner. I wonder if her knowing that is going to come in handy at any point? Great post Emily, and I hope she gets to talk to Sirius soon.

I'm extremely bored, so I thought I'd give you guys a small post

The next day, Emily noticed the tighter security around the school, not to mention Ron retelling the story a gazillion times. The school owls swooped into the Great Hall, and Emily looked up. Bluejeans came toward her, holding a large package.

“Hiya, Bluejeans,” Emily said cheerfully as she undid the package. Bluejeans nibbled a piece of her toast as she studied the package. A few people stared at her, which she didn’t really like.

“What do you think it is?” Lee asked.

“No idea,” Emily said. “My birthday isn’t for a couple weeks,” she said thoughtfully.

“Why don’t you stop wondering and open it?” George asked, like it was the most obvious thing to do. Emily, Lee, and Fred laughed at him.

“Er, I don’t really like everyone staring, so why don’t we take it somewhere else?” Emily asked nervously, glancing around at the unwanted eyes.

“Oh, all right, let’s go,” George said impatiently. He grabbed her package for her as they all stood up. They made their way to the lake, Bluejeans on Emily’s shoulder.

George and Emily sat at the stump of their tree. Fred and Lee sat opposite them, looking at the package that George set in front of Emily.

“Well, let’s open it, shall we?” George asked.

“Right,” Emily said.

Emily tore open the package. It was wrapped a second time, but this time; there was a note on the outside. She tore the envelope and read the letter.

I know it’s not quite your birthday, but I thought it might cheer you up a bit. I love you, kiddo. And I see that you’ve been hanging out with a certain red head again, don’t forget you’re still grounded. Meet you under the moon,
Remus


Emily finished reading it and looked up. She glanced at George, who had read it over her shoulder and was now smirking.

“You’re grounded, huh? From me?” George laughed.

“No, not from you, you prat,” Emily said, getting red in the face. “I’m actually grounded from dating since it’s created quite a bit of drama,” Emily explained. George started sniggering. “Oh, shut it!” Emily said, slapping his arm.

She gently undid the paper around the box and opened a latch that was on a miniature chest. Opening it, she gasped loudly.

“I can’t believe he got these,” she said slowly.

“What are they?” George asked, lifting up a rectangular object. Emily giggled, taking it from his hand.

“That, Georgie, is a DVD, and these are CDs—they’re muggle contraptions. I’ve wanted them for a while.” Emily ran her fingers over the spines of a few books he put in it as well. “Meet you under the moon,” she whispered.

“Emily, where’s your radio? It’s the perfect time for a bit of chill time,” Fred said.

“In my dormitory,” she answered.

“Accio radio!” Fred said loudly with a swish of his wand.

“It’s a good thing I left that window open,” Emily sighed. George and Lee chuckled as Fred caught the radio that zoomed towards them. He turned it on the wizard station, and they listened to the Weird Sisters’ new hit.

Fred and Lee took up a game of Exploding Snap while George and Emily lay back against their tree.

“So, are you and Angelina a couple?” Emily asked quietly.

George shook his head. “No, not really, we don’t even have conversations really. It’s usually about Quidditch or...you,” he said slowly.

“Me? Why would you have conversations about me?” Emily asked.

“She’s the one that brings it up, honest. It’s always—I know you’re thinking about her. Or it’s I saw you staring at her at breakfast. Or even, I know you’re in love with her,” George said. Emily fidgeted uncomfortably under the tree.

“And what do you say?” Emily asked barely above a whisper.

“I tell her that she’s being preposterous and must be imagining things,” George whispered. Emily nodded vaguely, looking off into the distance at the lake. “Of course, I was lying,” George said quietly, looking at Emily. She glanced at him. George brushed a curl behind her shoulder and smiled.

“George, I—” Emily started.

“George, I—” Emily started.

“George! There you are! I’ve been looking all over for you,” Angelina interrupted. George sighed, dropping his hand from Emily’s hair. “Oh, you’re with her,” she said disgustedly.

“Yes, he is with me—good observational skills, Angelina,” Emily said sarcastically. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her abdomen.

“Are you going to let her talk to me like that?” Angelina asked George angrily.

“There’s not much I can do, I’m afraid, Ang.” Angelina huffed as George shrugged.

“UGH!” Angelina said as she stalked off.

“I don’t think she’s too happy with you,” Emily laughed.

“I think I’m okay with that.” George leaned back against the trunk, spreading his arms out. He nodded his head sideways at Emily and she leaned back against the warmth of his arm. “So, what were you saying?” he asked casually.

Emily hesitated before answering him. “Georgie, I, er, I just can’t,” she said slowly.

“Why not?” he whispered.

“Look at what this whole thing did to us before. We’re just getting back into the hang of things. Can’t we just be friends?” Emily asked slowly. George nodded slowly. “I’m sorry, Georgie,” she whispered.

“Me too,” he whispered back, curling his hand around her shoulder, bringing her closer to him. He leaned his head against hers and she closed her eyes. She felt like she was home. She was safe. She was happy.

That weekend was another Hogsmeade weekend and the four decided to go together. They shopped around Zonko’s for a bit before going to have a Butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks. They made a snowman in the village and then had a snowball fight. It was Emily and Fred against George and Lee. It was really Emily versus George and Fred versus Lee. At one point, George tackled Emily and snowballed her in the face. Emily spluttered, calling him a few names through giggling. He was brushing the snow off of her face, while still on top of her, when Angelina came round the corner. She stared at them once and then stalked off. The four of them laughed uncontrollably at the look on her face.


The Gryffindor-Slytherin match was fast approaching, and George, though he would never admit it, was a bit nervous. Emily tried pepping him up and convincing him that he was the best, but she didn’t seem to be getting through to him.

“Oh, come on! It’s just the Slytherins!” Emily said one night. They were all sitting around George’s bed in the abandoned dormitory.

“Yeah, not to mention your ex-boyfriend,” George muttered under his breath.

“Is that what this is about?” Emily asked quietly, staring at George. Fred fidgeted uncomfortably. George didn’t answer. “George, listen to me. I’m not going to lie—I fell hard for Draco, and I even ran to him after Christmas break,” she said. George’s head snapped up, fury in his eyes. Fred stared at her with an equal expression. “But I realized then that it would never work between us,” she said quietly.

“Why not?” George asked through clenched teeth.

“Because I don’t love him. And it wasn’t fair for me to stay with him when there was someone else,” Emily said quietly.

“You mean Cedric? Or are you referring to Oliver and Cody?” George asked coldly.

“I meant you, you idiot!” Emily yelled as she fled from the room.
