Videos: Emma Watson interviews on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon", "Anderson Live"
Emma Watson, as reported, promoted the release of The Perks of Being a Wallflower on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. That interview has been released online, where Emma not only discussed her role as Sam in the drama, but decided to reenact the dance routine she and Ezra Miller did in the feature, but with host Fallon. That can be viewed here.
A few highlights of Emma Watson's interview with Anderson Cooper on his daytime television show were released by the program's YouTube, where she and The Perks of Being a Wallflower costars Miller and Logan Lerman discussed the movie, as well as Emma chatting about her days as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.
Anderson Cooper: Have you ever been asked on a date by a royal?
Emma Watson: I have not. The Queen is a lovely lady. I’ve met the queen.
Cooper: Have you ever been to Vegas? I hear Prince Harry likes Vegas.
Emma: That would have been the place to go. I wish someone had told me.(laughs) I think it’s a hard deal being a royal. I think it that would be intense. I think Kate’s doing an awesome job of it.
Cooper: I feel so bad for Prince Harry. He’s hanging out with a bunch of friends in a hotel room and some sleazy person takes a picture and sells it.
Emma: The joy of camera phones. It’s like there’s no … it’s … yeah.
Audience member: You played very heavy scenes in the movie. Where did you find that in yourself … to get that emotion?
Emma Watson: You don’t need to have had the exact experience that someone else has been through to really be able to empathize and be able to relate to it in another way. I mean, there have been times in my life where it’s hard to deal with criticism and to keep believing in yourself.
You feel so unsure of yourself and who you are. You really need a Charlie to come and be like, “Oh, you’re doing good. You’re great.” Actually, Logan’s a little bit like that in my own life, which is awesome. But I could relate completely in different ways.
Cooper: Which was for you the most difficult scene to shoot?
Emma Watson: I think for me it was coming from playing Hermione Granger, who’s like this seriously buttoned up, very prim and proper English school girl, to playing Sam who’s like on the other end of the spectrum, running around in fish net stockings and feather boas and doing Rocky Horror. She’s a true unique.
Cooper: Which one is more like you?
Emma: Well, it’s funny. I think obviously people associate me with Hermione because I played her for so long, but there’s definitely a part of me that is much more spontaneous and funny.
Cooper: You have fishnets?
Emma: I do now. But, I think for me it’s breaking down the barriers of like, “Oh, what will people think? Oh, I’ve never done this before. Do I really have to get up on stage and dance like Susan Sarandon? I’m so embarrassed right now. I can’t do this.”
I am waiting to watch Anderson Live today
