Video: Studio recording of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I soundtrack
A new behind-the-scenes making of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I soundtrack has been released by Hero Complex, featuring interviews with composer Alexandre Desplat, and film producers David Heyman and David Barron. That can be viewed below.
Samples of the soundtrack can be heard here, for anyone interested.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released November 19, 2010, and July 15, 2011. Click on the banner below to pre-order tickets for Part I at Fandango. Tickets are also on sale now in the UK; head over to the Harry Potter official UK Facebook for more information.
That video definitely sums up what I felt about the music when I listened to it yesterday. It didn't "duplicate" what was on screen; rather, it took on a "personality of its own."
Btw, the piece that they're playing in the video sounds beautiful and haunting at the same time. I'm dying to know what track that'll be in the soundtrack. I'll definitely have the soundtrack playing all the way through December once I get it.

It sounds wonderful. I'm not sure whether it's because I'm a fellow musician, but it literally gave me chills to hear such scary, wonderful music.
As for people that hate Desplat because of Twilight, please don't discriminate. I'm not the hugest Twilight fan but you can't deny that Desplat orchestrates amazing pieces.
The samples are tantalizing. I can't wait to hear the soundtrack in its entirety!
A friend of Harry is a friend of mine. The impossible often has a way of become reality.

I agree! And Howard Shore (composer of Lord of the Rings) did Eclipse, so all we are saying here is that the composers have real skill to write for these movies. =)
Back on topic, I'm absolutely thrilled that Desplat is doing Deathly Hallows. He evokes the kind of emotion that this movie requires - joy, sorrow, despair, fear. As a musician, I find his scores compelling and well-written. They are full of emotional depth, which we need for this film.
And he seems to be in tune (pun fully intended) with the film - he knows what the directors want, he knows what the producers want, but most importantly, he knows what the audience wants.
I cannot wait!

I'm glad I could watch the video because the sound clips don't work for me. I think the verdict is still out on the soundtrack. I haven't heard enough.
Moooooooo. :) || Have a supermegafoxyawesomehot Christmas.
As much as I love Desplat, I can barely hear Hedwig's Theme in any of the samples (unless my ears deceived me). It's like the main theme of the whole series, so he just has to clearly integrate it into another song...somehow.
