Video: Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Radcliffe talk evolution of Voldemort in Harry Potter
Harry Potter: the Quest unlocked its latest exclusive feature, focusing on the evolution of Tom Riddle to Lord Voldemort, and the eventual destruction of the Dark Lord in the Harry Potter series. Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Radcliffe, and directors David Yates and Mike Newell commented throughout the clip, where they discussed why Tom became Voldemort.
Ralph and Dan discussed how Voldemort became increasingly more insane as his Horcruxes were being destroyed in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts I and II, and how he was losing what semblance he had of himself. That can be viewed here.
Daniel Radcliffe: In the first part of the seventh, he's the most composed and the most in control we've ever seen him.
Ralph Fiennes: He's at the peak of his power, about to grasp victory and defeat Hogwarts and Harry Potter.
David Yates: Voldemort feels incredibly strong, but then he discovers that Harry's been hunting Horcruxes, so he suddenly realizes that, for that the first time we’ve ever seen him, that he's particularly vulnerable. And there's this journey that he takes through the film where he starts to fragment.
Ralph: There's more extremes of emotion and rage and distress, and something essential is being ripped out of me every time Harry and his friends destroy these Horcruxes. So he's a man who's - the last part of the story, he's diminished, he's sort of imploding.
Dan: It's a really interesting journey for his character because he's going from somebody who is very stable and in control, and evil and malevolent but, nonetheless, steady. And as Harry starts destroying parts of his soul, he starts slowly kind of losing his mind, as well. By the end of the second part, he's almost totally lost his mind.
The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I Blu-ray and DVD sets, out now, can be ordered at the WB Shop or Amazon at the links below. A list of international dates for the DVD's release can be found here.
Your flavour is milk. You're a quiet person and enjoy the peace, but you also
enjoy a bit of something new. You like the unconventional surprises that life
brings. You keep those dear to you close and adore them, as they adore you. ♥
Voldemort is a very enigmatic person, but it gets clearer he has gone mad when he keeps screaming (as we could see in the Deathly Hallows Part 2 trailer).

Ralph is going to do justice to this, I can just feel it. I've never really thought about the devolving of his sanity. I'm so glad that the directors and actors have put that much thought into it. I think they hit it smack dab on the head of the issue.
Fantastic video, I have always thought Voldemort was such an interesting and fascinating character. Ralph Fiennes is an amazing actor and I really can't wait to see him in Part II. I think he will be absolutely perfect.
LOLLOL. No offence to them, but that not true. This whole "Voldemort going insane" is a thing solely in the films, not in the books. He was perefectly sane in the final battle in the book, evil, yes, but sane. He always killed people, that;s not something that not new. The only reason they say he's crazy is because he's punching Harry in the movie. A very unloyal part.
It's really great to see Voldemort's character being discussed this way. He might be a horrible guy, but I think he's a character beautifully written by Joanne. The way she's explained in Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows, his life, and how he baceme Voldemort from Tom Riddle, is just amazingg. It's a deep thought. I love how he evolves.
