J.K. Rowling is currently reading from Sorcerer's Stone and answering fan questions as part of the Easter Egg Roll 2010 at the White House. You can watch below. We will post videos for those who miss it, later on;
UPDATE: Jo read the excerpt where Harry went to Ollivander's wand shop for the first time, and how he came to be owner of the holly wood wand, 11 inches and with a phoenix feather core. Jo also took questions from the young fans: she explained that sparks came out of Harry's holly wand when he first held it because the wand had chosen him as its owner; she gave a great deal of credit to the Harry Potter filmmakers, and especially the actors, on staying true to the movie - Jo insisted that the actors were just like the characters as she imagined them.
She said that Charms was her favourite subject because so much could go wrong; that she may consider re-entering's Harry's world to write something in 10 years; that she has no interest in owning a house-elf, despite how useful they may be; and that she plans to release something in the "not too distant future," but it will not focus on Harry or the wizarding world.
Deathly Hallows is Jo's favourite book; and of the character she missed the most, Jo said that after the trio, Dumbledore stuck out to her the most, but she also really enjoyed writing Snape, even if he wasn't a nice person. A few screencaps from the reading can be seen in our galleries.
OMG!!! I wonder what she’s writing!!!! I’m not surprised that Hermione was the second character JKR thought of considering Hermione is based on JK Rowling. I love the original back story for Harry and Hermione. If JKR had kept that in, the whole series would’ve been different. Hermione’s parents would definitely have had a larger role in the series.
I wonder what JKR is writing?!! She’s such a tease. It’s been almost 3 years since DH was released, so she’s been giving a lot of attention to this new book. That’s one of the things I love about JKR. She takes her time!! That’s why all of her work is so brilliant, because she doesn’t rush it.
I really really hope the new book comes out in June or November!
This is random: but JKR is wearing the same exact shoes Emma Watson wore to the HBP UK photocall.

I watched both of the readings. She said in the second one that the 2nd book was her favorite- wonder which one really is! LOL. It was interesting. Wonder what 10 years will bring!
I to this day just say to her regarding the pairing of Ron and Hermione- WAY TO GO JO!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) I completely forgot my friends went there today!!! I need to ask them how close they were to seeing her!!! They are huge fans too!!!

But yeah, I heard she's writing a mystery novel. I'll DEFINITELY read that! And it'd be great if she did more HP in ten years... I'd be... 26? Not too old!
But I think she went because the Obamas probably requested her presence; they're huge HP fans, especially Sasha and Malia. DUDE, for someone's birthday (Sasha or Malia, not sure), they went to the DH set and got a cake presented by the cast members. Lucky little girls!
Aw, that's awesome. I wish I could've been there. It excites me both that she may write something else about HP in the future, as well as that she's writing something new. She's such an amazing author, I'd read anything from her xD
