Video: J.K. Rowling discusses Deathly Hallows' last words on The Oprah Winfrey Show
Scholastic's Harry Potter page has updated with a new clip from J.K. Rowling's interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, which will air tomorrow. In the preview, Rowling spoke about how she changed the final words of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows epilogue from 'scar' to 'All was well.' That can be viewed below.
The full interview, which took place in Edinburgh, Scotland, will be aired tomorrow. Check here for your local listings.

I remember reading the final book and getting to the last word and going, "Heeey....wait a minute..." But it doesn't really matter to me anymore. Good book, Jo!

I think she changed it because the scar caused Harry so much pain and a reminder of his parent's and everyone's death and of course Voldemort. I don't think Jo would have wanted that to be the last word because of this. Harry and everyone is happy and settled. 'All was well' is more concluding and reassuring after all those years and has a hundred different meanings in only three words. That's what I think, if only I could think like Jo, she is amazing! But I think it was a good choice to change the last words.

I agree with you 100 percent. With the last words being "all is well" she is being more concluding. I think scar reminds us too much of the past which wouldn't be moving forward.
