Video: Harry Potter official Shop at Platform 9 ¾ launches, Warwick Davis attends
The official launch and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Harry Potter official Shop at Platform 9 ¾ at King's Cross Station in London took place on Friday morning, which actor Warwick Davis attended to preside upon the festivities. SnitchSeeker was on hand at the opening, and got footage of the opening speeches by Davis and Jonathan Sands (Founder and Chief Executive of London Film Museum) outside of the shop before its open.
SnitchSeeker correspondent Milo got a quick minute to ask Davis about the popular rumour of the Harry Potter cast filming scenes for the Gringotts-themed ride for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, though he was coy about it, stating he had no idea of the topic. When asked if he would love to play his Harry Potter characters - Flitwick or Griphook again - Davis merely smiled and was moved along to chat with others.
Both The Sun and Entertainment Weekly have received word from inside sources that filming is indeed taking place this week, though specifics are being speculated to this day.
Fans of Harry Potter today were treated to the grand opening of a new shop at London's Kings Cross Station, the Platform Nine and Three Quarters shop. On hand was Warwick Davis who officially cut the red ribbon after giving a speech about the world of Harry Potter and how far it has come.
Once the shop was officially opened we were allowed a sneak peek inside, and anyone wishing to buy Harry Potter souvenirs will not be disappointed. Wands, Props, Clothing and Books are among
just some of the items you can buy, as well as that magical Hogwarts Express ticket. The shop itself sits next to the famous Platform 9 3/4 sign which has been at Kings Cross for many years, although it was quite hidden away.
But now the station has fully embraced its Harry Potter heritage, and they have spruced up the trolley that enters the magical wall making for an even better photo opportunity for tourists and fans alike. The shop will even have a professional photographer on hand so that you can have your picture taken and then have the option of buying it complete with souvenir packaging. Central London has been crying out for an officially recognised Harry Potter shop and landmark for sometime, and now its finally here, and what more fitting place to have it, than at the Gateway to Hogwarts.
No doubt every year on September 1st, fans will flock to this area, and celebrate the magic of Harry Potter.
