Video: Daniel Radcliffe at 2011 Gypsy of the Year; talks Alan Rickman & Oscar chances
Daniel Radcliffe, along with fellow actors Hugh Jackman and Bernadette Peters, announced the winners of the 2011 Gypsy of the Year charity competition this past Tuesday, proceeds to which went to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. That, including of Dan picking up How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying's top musical fundraising prize, can be viewed below.
As Entertainment Weekly's 2011 Entertainer of the Year, Dan spoke to the publication about an array of subjects, including why he believes his Harry Potter costar Alan Rickman deserves an Academy Award for his performance as Severus Snape in the final installment of the series, Deathly Hallows: Par 2. The issue is out today; if anyone has a copy, do feel free to send in scans.
“I don't think there is going to be another performance from an actor in a supporting role that is so powerful,” says Radcliffe, “where the actor had the challenge of realising a scene that's been realised millions of times the world over in the imaginations of readers.”
“That scene - those revelations about Snape's past - represented maybe the most anticipated part of [one of] the most anticipated movies of the past 10 years,” continues the star. “I think Alan does amazing, amazing work.”

Aww... Dan! Your so sweet! Alan does deserve an Academy Award! His performance made me sob, and I felt as if he was really feeling that pain, just by looking at his face.
Put me in the middle of Daniel & Hugh Jackman, and I'd be a happy camper! And I could not agree more with what he's saying about Alan. If he isn't at least nominated, after Ian McKellen can be nominated for playing a wizard in a fantasy world, there is no justice.
Aw, Dan and Hugh Jackman with the kids.. So cute. Not to mention swoon worthy. I am loving all the Dan and Alan stuff. They have this sorta mentor/ mentee or admiration for eachother. Ok, I dunno how to put it but it's so cute... Alan deserves to be atleast nominated... I cried so hard, and still do, when he was on screen. I felt so sorry for the character of Snape; like reading the book all over again. Mr.Rickman is an exceptional actor.. Totally agree with Dan.

I don't remember the last time I saw Dan in a sweater! And Alan truly deserves that recognition. I wasn't particularly moved by the scenes in the book, but I was bawling when he grabbed Lily's body and was rocking back and forth in tears.
