Tom Felton talks Harry Potter, Planet of the Apes, future projects with BBC Radio 2
Tom Felton promoted the release of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (see SnitchSeeker's review here) with BBC Radio 2 earlier today in a rather lengthy and in-depth interview with host Dermot O'Leary. Tom began the conversation chatting about the now-infamous nickname given to him by his girlfriend Jade and manager when checking into a Los Angeles hotel in July - Snoop Hoggy Hogwarts - and how the pair had set up the trap for him.
The actor spoke at length about the two current blockbusters he's costarring in - Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, as well as how the character of Draco Malfoy was a far more redeeming person than the horrible Dodge in the science-fiction prequel. Tom mentioned his two other films that have yet to be released: the golf drama, From the Rough, set to hit theatres this fall; and Warner Bros' supernatural thriller, The Apparition, tentatively schedule to be released in February 2012.
The full interview, well over 20 minutes long, where Tom revealed his parents' influence on him to remain grounded, including getting a 'regular' job as a sort of valet at a fishing lake in England during his earlier Harry Potter days, can be listened to below, or at BBC Radio 2 (beginning at around 1:20 hours in).

Also, a reminder that Tom and his Harry Potter costars Scarlett Byrne (Pansy Parkinson), and Afshan Azad (Padma Patil), will be guests at Germany's Ring*Con in October. For more information on how to get tickets, head here. Tom commented on how much he'd love to visit Germany in a recent interview with an EA correspondent, seen below.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an UNREAL film! It's my favourite film of the Summer (apart from Harry Potter of course) I didn't even know Tom was in it either until I saw it. But really, if you haven't seen it, watch it!

"You come to love not by finding the perfect person,
For some odd reason I couldn't see him a properly evil in PATA and constantly made excuses to the things he did. He just seemed like a bit of a misunderstood character, even in Harry Potter. Maybe its just Tom's way of doing things or the way the script was written. I couldn't properly hate him in either movie....idk why?
I actually love all of the Apes series! It's been awhile since i saw the last Planet of The Apes movie in 2001 with Helena Bonham Carter
Really wanted to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes!! but my friends and sister didn't want to and i didn't want to go alone..
