Post Three new Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Oscars FYC posters, Daniel Radcliffe talks snubs

Three new For Your Consideration posters were released to promote the three nominations Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 received at this year's Academy Awards, including best makeup, best visual effects, and achievement in art direction. Those are viewable below.

While Daniel Radcliffe had been pleased about the technical nominations the finale of the Harry Potter series did receive at this year's Oscars, he revealed to Radio Times how annoyed he was that certain other films were recognised while his film wasn't.
"It's kind of disheartening. I never thought I'd care. But it would've been nice to have some recognition, just for the hours put in. I don't think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids' films, unless they're directed by Martin Scorsese.

"I was watching Hugo the other day and was going, 'Why is this nominated and we're not?' I was slightly miffed. There's a certain amount of snobbery."

But the actor concedes, "How much of a pat on the back do we really need? We get paid stupid amounts of money."

The posters look amazing and I agree with Dan (even though ive never saw Hugo), that HP has been out there and a house hold name since it began and its sitting in the backseat watching as all the other films get the awards when more effort ect. was put into HP throughout its timeand beyond. And they also do get paid stupid amounts of money but who cares we love the actors. Hope that made a little bit of sense....x

He has a good view on this, remembering that he got lots of accolades from fans and payment galore. But I still agree. The Academy's definition of 'Best' needs some reworking.

I'm with Daniel on this one. They rarely consider the audiences anymore. Films like Gone with the Wind, The Sound of Music, and The Godfather were both extraordinary exhibits of filmmaking and acting and they were hits with the audiences and made the most money of their years.

While people can say what they want about the acting and other things like that, there's no doubt that this film franchise has been executed beautifully, that it's been popular worldwide and made tons of money. The same can definitely be said of The Dark Knight with legitimate runs at acting.

I feel like, these days, the Academy Awards ostracize the audience that goes to see these films (or doesn't go to see these films) and pays (or doesn't pay) their hard-earned money to support or not support them. It's not to say that the smaller films and the actors acting in them aren't worthy of awards. But it's also not saying that big blockbusters and the actors acting in them aren't worthy either.

Most of the time, I've never heard of at least half of the films nominated before they're nominated. And, again, while it's not an indication that they're bad films, it also ignores the people who pay their salary by going to see the more popular films. And sure, many popular blockbusters are NOT worthy of Academy Awards. But many are, including, I think, the Harry Potter franchise...particularly DH1.

Agreed. Let's not forget Avatarm which lost the Hurt Locker. Hurt Locker wasn't BAD, but Avatar was awesome. Avatar, Harry Potter, and the Dark Knight: Great popular movies that have been ignored.

I am still trying to withold the intense rage over mainly Alan being snubbed, but in the end, I think it's the fans' opinions and love for the films that matter more than little statues.

Good for Dan! I agree with him, the thing that really irks me is that that they can nominate 10 films for Best picture but decided this year to only nominate 9 which I think is a huge slap in the face for HP.
Oh well...still doesn't change the intensity on which the fans love this series nor the money it has made. The Academy can take their awards and cram it.

THANK GOD Daniel said that! because it's true. I know the movie is not the best movie ever, but they deserved more. they nominated Jonah Jill, but no Alan Rickman, or Micheal gambon ever, and Melissa Mccarthy (Liked the movie but it's just the female version of hangover get over it!) but no Helena, Maggie Smith, July walters, Imelda, Oh and Ralph Fiennes am i the only one that thinks his Voldemort was Amazing?

But what you expect if they didn't nominated, Reservoir dogs, the shinning even Scorsese used to be snubbed all the time.

its time to choose between what is right and what is easy

I cannot agree more. The oscar's definitly like a certain type of movie and completely ignore others. this series should be given a special award of some kind as a whole for all 8

the last film especially should have been norminated for more, and even for the actors, this is just sad and extremely disappointing and it deseves more

He is really going to take flack for this. Even if it's the truth.

I'm not thrilled that BAFTA snubbed them as well. If it weren't for that achievement award last year I wouldn't be watching them either this year.

Thank you hobesan! BAFTA snubbed them and this is on their own turf. If BAFTA was not a fan of the movie yet gave them a special award, they should also accept the Special Award to be presented to them by the Academy of Arts & Science. I agree, nominations of Best Pictures is questionable but as far as children movies is concerned, I believe many of you are forgetting the movie UP. THAT was a fabulous movie and was so well received that it was nominated and recognized. As much of a fan I am of HP, the movie did not merit anything that made it BEST. HUGO is really good. We have much to thank for HUGO being out there since the character in the movie Georges Méliès, is a legend in the movie industry. His Man on the Moon movie was actually used in the Smashing Pumpkins video Tonight, Tonight. I think many are being too hard on the OSCARS considering BAFTA fared no better in nominating Alan in the field of Best Supporting actor.

Couldnt agree more... The HP films have had so much time and effort put into them, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. They deserve some recognition.
I also LOVE the first poster... a great view of their visual effects

I wish the HP films could be nominated for more awards. Alan Rickman deserves to be nominated for best actor. He's just amazing, especially in the last HP film.

Moooooooo. :) || Have a supermegafoxyawesomehot Christmas.

Well, I have nothing against Hugo being nominated, but I do agree with Dan at some points. I don't know, there's just something about the Oscars that makes Hollywood seem...conceited.

And Dan's starting to get a lot of hate from Scorcese fans because of his comments. I mean, I know he's a very successful director and he has TONS of connections in Hollywood, but seriously, I wish they give Dan some slack. Snobbery is a huge part of the entertainment industry anyways.

I was extremely upset as well. 10 years of Harry Potter and no actors/actresses were nominated for an Academy award. It's very disheartening to see how much work the whole cast and crew put through the years, but no recognition at all except for the CG effects that were put in the films. I hope they at least will put in a 10 year Harry Potter tribute to the hugely successful Harry Potter films.
