| | JK Rowling to the rescue at Antiville
The Larne Times reports that J.K.Rowling has yet again done a heroic deed. Quote:
The parent association have recruited the best selling author in their campaign to save the school from possible closure.
When she was asked to donate an item to be sold at an auction next month, the millionaire writer had no hesitation in signing hardback copies of each of her Harry Potter novels, including a rare first edition.
Quote:
The complete set of books comes complete with a letter of authenticity from Ms. Rowling.
Quote:
"The auction is to raise funds to help meet the educational needs of the children and also to highlight the cause of Antiville Primary", Samantha said.
Quote:
"The board is to make up its mind about the future of the school next month and we believe that it is important for the future of the estate that the school be retained", they said in a joint statement.
"The special education unit has such a high reputation that parents from as far away as Glengormley volunteer to send their children to it. The special unit is a facility not just for Antiville, but for the greater Larne area.
"The school is an important community resource", the DUP men added.
"It is a centre not just for children, but also for adult education.
"At a time when the estate is undergoing difficult change the loss of the school would be very wrong.
"We trust that the board will do more give the school a sat of execution, but go further and give assurance that it will remain so that parents can have confidence in sending their children to it", they stated.

| In Love with Touz | | Lil Mikky-Mu Hey that's great! It's not like she's handing money out, she's encouraging reading and donating at the same time! Now if only all rich celebrities would think that way...

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

Thats very nice of her, but she could probably afford to buy the school, thus saving it from closure for good. Then again she must get thousands of begging letters, lots of them from equally worthwhile causes.

Wow, it's a wonder Moy Regional never thought of that... I live about 40 miles from Larne and a load of state schools (including the one down the road from my house) round here are getting closed down cos they only have like 30 kids in them. Nearly everyone goes to the private schools. S'a terrible pity. I can't get a lift to Larne. |

Siriously, she is a truely wonderful person. Not that is was a big deal for her, but it is still rather awesome that she never ceases to help out her fans.

That was really nice of her but I do feel because of this generous act she might be taken for granted, with schools all over the world probably writing letters,
her poor post man! :-(
