It's no secret that J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was rejected by a dozen publishers in the 1990s before Bloomsbury picked it up, but now the author revealed some of the rejection letters she received for her first novel in the Cormoran Strike series, The Cuckoo's Calling.

While encouraging fans and aspiring writers to continue to craft their work, the author revealed two letter she - or rather, Robert Galbraith - received about The Cuckoo's Calling when rejecting the chance to publish it.

One of them, Constable and Robinson, funnily enough is owned by Little Brown UK, who actually DID end up publishing The Cuckoo's Calling and all future novels in the Strike series. The other publisher shown below is Creme De La Crime.
