| | J.K. Rowling comments on Ilvermorny & Hogwarts Houses, Sorting polls available now
J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to state that Ilvermorny and Hogwarts Houses have no equivalencies, despite some of the houses sounding the same (like Slytherin and Horned Serpent), or even portraying similar traits (like Ravenclaw and Horned Serpent).
This thread is open for Harry Potter fans, members and everyone who loves to take polls, basically, to discuss what Ilvermorny House they were Sorted into. The test can be taken in the link attached to the poll below (any Twitter user can take it, follower or not).
SnitchSeeker also has set up a site-wide poll that all registered members can take (and if you're not a member, register today right here)>
Here's a brief description of the four Ilvermorny houses: Quote: Horned Serpent
Named by Isolt Sayre after the great horned river serpent that has a jewel set into its forehead; Horned Serpent house is sometimes considered to represent the mind of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Horned Serpent favours scholars. Wampus
Named by Webster Boot after his favourite magical beast, the Wampus; a magical panther-like creature that was fast, strong and almost impossible to kill. Wampus house is sometimes considered to represent the body of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Wampus favours warriors. Pukwudgie
Named by James Steward, after the fiercely independent magical creature the Pukwudgie; Pukwudgie house is sometimes considered to represent the heart of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Pukwudgie favours healers. Thunderbird
Named by Chadwick Boot after his favourite magical beast, the Thunderbird, a beast that can create storms as it flies. Thunderbird house is sometimes considered to represent the soul of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Thunderbird favours adventurers.
Feel free to discuss your Ilvermorny (and even Hogwarts) Houses and preferences in the thread right here, or via Twitter and Facebook. Ilvermorny will no doubt, in some shape or form, make an appearance in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films, as many lead characters were students of the school (including MACUSA president Seraphina Picquery, who was chosen for all four houses). Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay book can be pre-ordered now via the following links: Amazon.com (hardcover) | Amazon.com (Kindle) | Amazon.co.uk (UK hardcover) | Warner Bros. Shop (hardcover) |

totes agree with Jo, theres no direct equivalent. the only info we have about the distinguishing qualities of Ilvermorny houses are two phrases, which im pretty sure hasnt even begun to scratch the surface of what makes each house unique from each other. im hoping that Jo will release more info about them though, perhaps closer to the time when Fantastic Beasts will come out.
also my house: Hogwarts: Gryffindor // Ilvermorny: Horned Serpent

It's very refreshing to be sorted into a house that you have no preconceived notions about. And I took the quiz before reading the brief history, even. So I had no biases going into it and man, it was awesome. Freeing almost? (totally agree with the wanting more information from Jo soon though)
I also really love what each house represents? It reminds me of Myers-Briggs typing a little bit. The questions that were asked were also really telling. Some of them made me really angry lol, but in all I think they were a very well-rounded set of questions that covered all sorts of bases. It was really interesting to take the quiz and have to think really deeply about things.
Thirdly, though I have a forever loyalty towards Gryffindor... I guess I could be down with Pukwudgie too. It'd be a lot easier if it didn't have the most embarrassing name out of the lot, but I think I've already fallen in love with my new house

I'm not sure I actually fit in Thunderbird, but we definitely need more information for me to be sure of that.
Pottermore: Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff (yup, took it more than once)
Ilvermorny: Thunderbird

I just love that I'm in the house that is basically one big dad joke. Not to say that Pukwudgie is a joke, but I think it's hilarious that it's named after a pukwudgie for the lols. Fits right in with my personality!

There are some slight similarities, I think. For example a Gryffindor (brave) can be both a warrior and an adventurer so a Wampus or a Thunderbird. A Pukwudgie, representing the heart, might have a slight resemblance to Hufflepuff. Cunning and wisdom both focus on the power of the mind so a Slytherin and Ravenclaw are more closely related to Horned serpent. This fits in my case as I'm a Slytherin Horned Serpent.
But on the whole, I agree that we still need more information to form a definite opinion.
