Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Part I play's premiere night first reactions, info
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Part I made its world public debut on Tuesday evening at London's Palace Theatre, where over 1,500 fans from across the world got to see the first half of Harry's eighth story come to life.
The Cursed Child's social media page revealed one teaser image from the production, that being of Rose Granger-Weasley's apparent Sorting. That can be seen here.
SnitchSeeker staff member hpluvr037 got to see Part I Tuesday evening, and gave this vague yet great review of the production (more to come on Wednesday):
Quote:
Generally, effects were GREAT and it's super well acted. The writing is pretty decent and Scorpius is hilarious.
Much more has been released online about the production, including plot points, but as said before, they will be hidden and covered behind spoiler cuts. In order to see them, and not be tempted until the rehearsal book is out, or whenever fans see it live in London, feel free to scroll well below.

We now come to some of the spoilers for the first part of the play. This will include which actors will play which characters, and some key plot points. This will be all under various cuts.
SPOILER!!: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child cast revealed.
The show's program highlights key characters of both production, including familiar faces, and some brand new names for the eighth story.
Among characters returning: Moaning Myrtle, Vernon Dursley, Petunia Dursley, Dudley Dursley, Teddy Lupin (not on the list, but confirmed by those who saw the play), Neville Longbottom (not on the list, but confirmed by those who saw the play), Albus Dumbledore (not on the list, but confirmed by those who saw the play as a portrait), Madam Hooch, Professor McGonagall, the Sorting Hat, James Potter Jr., Lily Potter Jr. and Amos Diggory, and a child Harry Potter.
New characters include: Craig Bowker, Polly Chapman, Yann Fredericks, Karl Jenkins, Professor Manzoni and Delphi Diggory (presumed to be wife of Amos, and mother of Cedric).
We've decided to take down plot details for now, but they can easily be searched around the internet, including on Reddit and Twitter. J.K. Rowling has called out those who did release plot details and as such we'll take them down. The cast list does not reveal much, so that can stay here, for now.

if all those spoilers are true, i cant understand how people fall in love with this story after all harry potter legend. of course, in the other hand, i respect every different opinion but this all just seems like one epic prank to me. it is like a badly written fanfic done by a 10 year old. i am sorry it was a dissapointment for me.

So having seen Part 1... All I can say is it is SO well done. If you've read plot spoilers and don't like it, I'm sorry. It's absolutely FANTASTIC so far. If you haven't seen it with your own two eyes, I wouldn't pass judgement on it yet. Wait til you read it. Though, I suspect it won't transfer to the page as well as it does to the stage. I think this format was exactly right for it.
I mean...it's not terrible, but Cursed Child just doesn't live up to the rest of HP. I'm not sure how it could, and I kind of wish JKR could've just left the epilogue where it was. That being said, it does exist, it seems promising, and I wish I could see it. The plot has some iffy parts, but they might work out onstage?? I haven't given up yet. Alas, I live way too far away to ever see it.
I just jumped to the bottom of this thread to comment (without reading anything) to say that I solemnly swear to not get any spoilers of the Cursed Child before reading it.
