'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' first on-set feature screencaps breakdown
Everyone is excited for the upcoming release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but perhaps none more so than the cast and crew of the film itself, as shown by the first behind-the-scenes look that debuted at A Celebration of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort this weekend.
Here's a breakdown of the new scenes, quick chats with cast about their characters and entering J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World, and what's to come in the first installment of the hugely-anticipated series. Only 10 more months to go.
A shot of Newt, with enchanted briefcase, walking up the stairs in MACUSA, the Magical Congress of the United States of America.

Meet Eddie Redmayne, Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts - and the only British wizard walking around 1926 NYC in the first film.
Quote:
Here's Queenie Goldstein now running up the same MACUSA steps Newt was walking up in the previous scene. There seem to be two darkly-dressed figures by the steps, presumably security.
Quote:
A close-up of Queenie using her wand - remember, Queenie is an accomplished Legilimens.
Quote:
Meet Alison Sudol, who plays Queenie Goldstein, younger sister of Tina.
Quote:
This looks to be a behind-the-scenes angle of the shot of Tina Goldstein and briefcase standing before a large group of people, with Carmen Ejogo's character Seraphina at the front.
Quote:
A better look at Colin Farrell's character, the American auror Percival Graves, wearing dashing black robes and with conductor-like wand in hand.
Quote:
Meet MACUSA employee Porpentina Goldstein, played by Katherine Waterston.
Quote:
Tina, with briefcase in hand, follows Newt down a NYC street.
Quote:
Quick shot of director David Yates doing his work.
Quote:
Yates giving Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston tips and direction advice, no doubt, between takes.
Quote:
J.K. Rowling looks like she's getting a tour of the MACUSA set featured at the opening of the footage, from producer David Heyman. Rowling is walking up a podium in the middle of the MACUSA hall, where it looks like four or five dark statues stand in the middle.
From a hi-res close up, it looks like the the taller figures are adult women, wearing Puritan-era clothing, perhaps around the time of the first Salem Witch Trials? There's a smaller figure, a little girl, holding onto the hands of one of the women statues in the middle.
Surrounding the statues are four mauve-colored pillars on the dais, with four golden phoenixes at each corner. Around the walls of the room or hall stand marble-looking figures on black pillars - perhaps famous American wizards of the past immortalized?
The area as a whole is similar to the Ministry of Magic atrium in the Harry Potter films, which begs the question if it is something similar - the lobby at the entrance, or offices, at MACUSA.
Quote:
The MACUSA logo, with the words Magical Congress of the United States of America encircling an imprint of the American flag and the wings of what seems to be a phoenix.
Quote:
It looks like someone is leading or taking Newt into the MACUSA entrance, located at the Woolworth Building in New York City (which is a real skyscraper in NYC).
Quote:
Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts' producer David Heyman invites fans back into the world.
Quote:
Another imposing shot of Carmen Ejogo's mysterious character Seraphina.
Quote:
Newt and Tina shuffle through a crowded NYC street to get to their destination.
Quote:
A profile shot of Newt looking troubled/worried/annoyed/possibly angry on the streets of New York.
Quote:
Newt has his wand and is staring off at something, as people (probably No-Majes) run in the opposite direction of his glance.
Quote:
A cautious-looking Newt looks up (perhaps a magical creature got loose?).
Quote:
And now Newt's running into what looks like a New York City brownstone as others run out of it (maybe another magical creature on the loose?).
Quote:
Newt, with wand at the ready, leads his merry band of misfits, including Tina, Queenie and No-Maj Jacob, to their next adventure, no doubt. Both Tina and Queenie have their wands out in this scene, too.
Quote:
A cautious and at-the-ready Tina gets her wand out in what looks like a storage room.
Quote:
A quick shot of the Goldstein sisters, who apparently raised each other growing up. It begs the question of where their parents were if it seemed they took care of each other?
Quote:
What is that on Jacob's neck? That sure looks pretty bloody. Perhaps he got to meet one of Newt's briefcase companions, and the wrong end of them? At least he's alive and sitting, so not too much harm done.
Quote:
Now Jacob's holding Newt's briefcase. Jacob, according to Heyman, is a World War I veteran just trying to open his bakery. But, he meets a new friend or two while trying to adjust back to post-war life.
Quote:
Who is Jacob opening Newt's briefcase for, and why? And whose office is this? Is the man across of Jacob a wizard or No-Maj? Suppose we find out in November.
Quote:
Newt and Jacob walking down a NYC street, and Jacob probably explaining the ways of the American land to his new and lost British friend.
Quote:
Quick shot of Newt standing in what looks like a lobby (probably MACUSA?).
Quote:
What looks to be Tina with wand at the ready, at whoever (or whatever) stands before her.
Quote:
Jacob walking across the streets, with 1920s cars behind him, with Newt's briefcase in hand.
Quote:
The four heroes staring up at whatever (probably a magical beast) that's coming their way, in what looks like the same storage space Tina was featured in earlier.
Quote:
Looks like Jacob and Queenie are playing around while in that storage room, or pretending to tip-toe in the room, or acting like some kind of bearlike magical creature? Or Alison and Dan Fogler messing about between takes? Could be anything!
Quote:
What looks like the some of the first tender and sweet moments between the future Mr. and Mrs. Scamander. Or Newt's checking a wound on Tina's head. And yes, bonus old-school Hufflepuff scarf around Newt's neck!
Quote:
Yep, lots of this happening in the movie, apparently. Newt running around the streets of New York with wand in hand.
Quote:
No words necessary!
Quote:
Aaaaaaand now Queenie's holding Newt's briefcase while going up those MACUSA steps.
Quote:
Newt doing a bit of magic in front of a dressed-up Tina?
