Travelodge have compiled a list of the top ten latest literary works most often left behind in hotel rooms. Deathly Hallows ranks at #10. Quote:
Jason Cotta, Travelodge operations director, said: "This review always gives us a good idea of what is going on in consumers' minds during the summer holidays.
The full list is as follows; Quote:
1. The Blair Years - Alistair Campbell
2. Don't You Know Who I Am? - Piers Morgan
3. A Whole New World - Jordan
4. Wicked - Jilly Cooper
5. Dr Who Creatures & Demons - Justin Richard
6. The Diana Chronicles - Tina Brown
7. I Can Make You Thin - Paul McKenna
8. Humble Pie - Gordon Ramsay
9. The Story Of A Man And His Mouth - Chris Moyles 10. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - JK Rowling |

List is missing the Bible..? There's always one of those lying around in hotel rooms.
But seriously, this doesn't make a lot of sense to me. DH is only 1.5 months old, how come it already makes rank 10 on such a list? Is it because people very rarely leave books at all, or are the Deathly Hallows thrown away like crazy?
[edit]
First. Fine.

Hm...that's kinda sad... the poor books get left all alone in hotel rooms... but hopefully somebody else takes them home and they get a new home!

Yeah but those are left there because they're hotel property. This is books which people bring themselves to the hotel rooms and accidentally leave behind.

I've seen people hold on to the book like it's a matter of life and death, why would they accidentally leave it behind?

I think that the list tells you what kind of books people take on holidays and buy while on holiday, and that they are a tad disttracted when they pack to leave the hotel.
I wouldn't call them "discarded" books, only forgotten.

I guess I better take all mine back I wonder if this means: A) People didn't care enough to keep it ... B) It's such a popular book everyone's reading it ... C) H/Hr shippers go to hotels a lot. D) HP readers who stay at hotels are confounded ...
E) They didn't stay at Holiday Inn Express ... *Ottery did, and he's not a surgeon but he'd perform brain surgery on you in a pinch* You're in luck I've watched every episode of Grey's Anatomy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111

| I know why people leave them behind!!! So they can share the joy of Harry Potter with next people who stay in that room.....then they can pass it on......and then the people after them can pass it on....until the entire world has read it =] See they left it behind for the greater good. |

Anyone who's had children knows: even the most precious stuff can get left behind in the jumble to leave: teddies, pillows, blankies...
Though I tell ya, if I stayed in the room that JKR finished Deathly Hallows in, I'd probably leave mine behind too.

| I just saw a Deathly Hallows book sleeve laying on the side of the road when I went out shopping today. Just laying there, all lonely and blown around. Sad, isn't it? |
