Colin Farrell confirms Hogwarts mention in 'Fantastic Beasts', talks character wand
Colin Farrell, still on the UK promotion of his upcoming movie The Lobster, revealed a few more fun tidbits this week about the production of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, in which he plays a wizard named Graves.
Farrell confirmed that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be mentioned and referenced in the film at some point (possibly when discussion of American schools, as J.K Rowling noted months ago, would come up), and teased a bit about his character's magical wand. That, as well as a couple of kind comments about director David Yates and Rowling can be seen and read below.
Quote:
JOE: The spinoff of Harry Potter … how is that going and have you been Sorted into a particular Hogwarts House?
Colin Farrell: No, it takes place in America, this one, so Hogwarts is referenced. It that takes place about 80 or 90 years before Harry was born.
It’s just extraordinary - a big world, man. And the sets – I’ve been around the block a couple of times and I’ve seen some nice sets, but it’s pretty extraordinary to see what they’ve built – practical stuff. There’ll be CGI and all that, but just the physical stuff that’s in space. Yeah, I have a wand, which is interesting. It doesn’t have any batteries obviously, because nothing happens when you wave it.

Good Morning Britain: J.K. Rowling’s Fanatastic Beasts … a fantastic opportunity ...
Colin Farrell: Absolutely. It’s great fun. I’ve only done a few days on it. They’re shooting here, as you probably know. They’ve been at Leavesden for the last two months or so. From what I’ve seen, David Yates is so brilliant and obviously J.K.’s imagination isn’t left wanting, so the world that’s been created is extraordinary – it’s nice to be part of.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, starring Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston, hits theaters and IMAX in November 2016.
For those in the Liverpool, UK area next week, don't forget that filming for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will take place around St. George's Hall starting this Saturday.
