Chris Columbus, who directed the first two
Harry Potter films, recently said that he'd love to come back and possibly helm another movie for the series... after the end of the Hogwarts battle in
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Columbus, director of
Sorcerer's Stone and
Chamber of Secrets, and who chose not to direct any further Harry Potter films because he wanted to spend time with his family, stated he'd love to make another movie focused on Harry, Ron and Hermione between the battle and the epilogue 19 years later.
Columbus, like so many millions of fans, would love to see what happened during that 19 year gap between the last two chapters of the book series.
Quote:
“I would love to go back and do another one,” says Columbus. “Not Fantastic Beasts as much, which I think is going to be amazing, but I would love to do another movie with those three characters — Harry, Hermione, and Ron. I’m just fascinated about what happened to them after the end of the last movie, because then they cut to 18 years ahead. There’s 18 years there of great Harry Potter stories.”
“I don’t have the courage to actually mention that to [J.K. Rowling] because I have such respect for her,” says Columbus. “She should do what she wants to do, but I really would love to know what’s in her head about those missing years.”
Columbus discussed this while promoting his upcoming movie
Pixels, which will hit theaters this Friday.
