| | Alfonso Cuaron "tempted" to direct Deathly Hallows
In a new interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Alfonso Cuaron, the director of the film version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, admitted that he would be "very tempted" to direct that final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Quote:
I feel a little bit like I have to try to do the films that are not going to exist without me. On the same token, I would be really tempted because it was really beautiful. I just started reading the last book and something I respect is the care the producers have put in the film franchise. It would have been so easy after the success of the series just to take the cynical approach of knowing that no matter what people are going to see those movies. Actually they've been taking a lot of care from beginning to end, so yeah I would be really tempted.

He is super awsome! But I also love David Yates...
Why don't they direct it together! That would be awsome!

i think that there should be a group of directors because i dont think one person could handle the stress caused by the hype that is going to precede the last movie. I would not be shocked if it was as big as the book's opening

| I don't think I'd be very happy if he were to direct the final movie, to be quite honest. He did a terrific job on PoA of course, but I think someone with a different style needs to take DH. It needs ... well, I'm not sure what it needs, but I feel like the PERFECT director needs to be found to do it justice and, judging by the way he did Azkaban, I'm not sure if he and the 7th movie would be a good match. But I can certainly see why he would want to do another! |

He needs to do it because the 4th and the 5th movies sucked, and the 3rd, IMO (and many others') was the best, and the one that best followed the book.

I think Alfonso's style is the perfect match for DH. He's amazing with action and an obsessive-compulsive of beauty. I hope it happens.

wow.
I actually did'nt really like the way the third film turned out. I hope David Yates returns again to direct the final film, they were my favourite. But I also think it would be a good idea to have a few directors on board because it is such a huge novel to fufill as a movie, and it really needs to be a good film and do the book justice.

haha, i wasn't too fond of how the third film was either. i mean, alfonso's a great director but i think someone else should take on the final film.

yeah, too bad Chris Columbus quit... he was really good.
They should make it a GROUP of directors for the 7th movie - it'll probably be pretty crazy anyways since it's the final movie and all.
besides, Alfonso was ok, but he wasn't great... I wouldn't want him to be the one directing D.H personally (by himself at least. Him, Chris Columbus, and David Yates would make a great team actually - all three previous directors banning together, that way they actors know them and such).
I only say this cause I personally hated how the movie butchered the book! I mean, I blame the screenwriter mostly, and Alfonso was ok, but I can say if he and the screenwriter come back, it'll be the worst movie of them all personally.
Besides, Yates did way better if you ask me.

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | go ahead ALfonso please, that's the right attitude! he made PoA very great and much darker than the previous two, he also made that impact of changing Harry Potter, bcoz GoF & OotP remained that "dark", and Yates again directing HBP...i think its bound to be the same again.. but DH is special, bcoz simply its the ending, and i bet he could do that change again... |

I can't stand his films. they have too many artistic parts which have no point. He doesn't understand that films also need a good storyline.
But it's true that the butchering in the third film was mainly the scriptwriter's fault. they kind of missed the whole point of the film and messed around too much with shrunken heads and buses and werewolves and stupid birds flying headlong into trees...

I have a major problem if he directs this film. I don't like his directing style and POA is my least favourite film so far.
I loved how OotF was shot. There were some great scenes. I hope David yates get it.
