Nestled comfortably between the stairwells to the boys' dormitory away from the hustle and bustle of the central part of the common room is the reading room - complete with a long bending book case that takes up the entire back wall. You'll find several desks and chairs arranged comfortably to assist you with your homework and studying. For those that are looking for a quiet place to read and unwind, there are a few beanbag chairs strung about. Whether you're working on a project, completing some homework or simply want to relax and read, you've come to the right place.
As you enter, however, your eye is not drawn to the inviting looking study tables or bean bag chairs, but rather a large boulder that is situated off to the right of the entrance. If you go around to the back of it, you will see a gigantic pair of googly eyes glued on as well as a smiley face painted with white paint. Lions, say hello to the Gryffindor common room pet - Pride. He is large enough for any lions looking to climb upon and is especially useful for those wanting to brush up on looking down or working on their ROARS. Just be sure to treat Pride with respect and the occasional pat every now and again.
All in all, it is the perfect place to sit with friends and tackle any homework that comes your way. The most important thing to remember is not to stress. Remember, help is always given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. So if you need advice, ask a peer or a professor, or even a portrait, who knows where you will find your answers! The portraits in this part of the common room may be especially helpful to you as they are all former Heads of Gryffindor House. From Godric Gryffindor to Uric Oapley to Minerva McGonagall to Seren Bentley... they are all here! Even this one stern looking woman whose portrait is just off to the right of the bookcase who may just reveal a secret to you if you say the right things to her.

Okay, this was a whole lot harder than people were leading on--than the Professor had led on to. The transformation itself had gone well and he was now, in his opinions, the most adorable kitten in existence. The only problem came with navigating his way around in this form. He'd tried pouncing and hopping and something like skipping after getting down off the couch but Merlin even THAT was hard and had him falling on his face.
How did anyone do anything on four legs? You had to make sure they were all coordinated together so that you didn't end up having them criss crossing. Forget bounding around the Common Room like the agile creature he now was, the kid was still trying to make sure he didn't hit into things.
One of the coolest parts had to be his heightened sense of smell and hearing. It was like a whole new world had opened up to him in the space of downing one potion and it was FANTASTIC! Blaise walked around--stumbling here and there--with his nose stuck high in the air taking in all the smells. Sure not all of them were pleasant but he wanted to try guessing them all anyway.
Such interesting experiences cats got. He'd have to let one know the next time he ran into one.

Charlotte Kettleburn had to write a LETTER. Not just any letter either, like she had to write letters most days back home to her family but this was DIFFERENT. It was going to be a nice letter for the Secret Santa letter exchange which was FINE BUT THE THING WAS she maybe had NO IDEA what to write because the person she got was kind of.... well....
!?
He was her frieeeeeeeeeend?
....Maybe? He was NICE and very polite to her and funny and smart as WELL (but not nicer or politer or funnier or smarter than her, this was important) and it was almost like there were TOO MANY nice things she could say? And also she felt sort of funny about writing things DOWN even though her name wouldn't be on it and WHY WAS THIS SO HARD?!?
It was JUST a letter.
.... it had to be PERFECT.

Ugh, she actually didn't like doing homework, ever since she was in muggle school. Nooooope... But then, she had to. What if the Professors owled her mom and told that she's lazy on doing homework? She would not be pleased with it. So, she had to do it.
Entering the reading room, the young lioness tried to cast the dragon-transforming spell. She already had the rock too. But.... instead on performing it right, like the Professor B had instructed she tried to give a little bit twist. Like... for now, she tried to think that she's gonna transform this rock into... mushroom. Hehehe. Thinking about mushroom, Ava slashed her wand into the rock and cast the spell. "Draconifors!" And.... of course it wouldn't work. Duh.
Okay, how about.... changing the wand movement.
For now, instead of slashing her wand, now she tried to flick it but she's gonna think about transforming the rock into a dragon. "Draconifors!" She said as she flicked her wand. Nope, nothing happened. Well... now she's gonna try it again with the correct incantation, correct wand movement, and focus too. She thought about transforming the rock into a dragon. Think.... Think very hard. And then she slashed her wand and cast the spell. "Draconifors!" The rock had transformed into a cute little dragon. Awwww....
