As you wander down the Hallways you notice a new door along the Eastern wall. Was it there last term? Quite possibly....as you approach the door you see a notice attached which reads:
Quote:
Attention All Students!
This is the Staff Room. Under no circumstance should a student pass through this door. Any student caught on the other side will be sent to detention immediately, no questions asked! Continous violations could result in suspention!
Being a curious student you try the doorknob....locked! Well, better not try again or risk detention....

Well, seeing as she wasn't a student... that sign on the door only made Anastasia Truebridge smile evilly. The redhead pushed open the door to the staff room and let it swing wide open behind her. Lovely. This place smelled musty... a few fresh air charms would take care of that.
The redhead went about the staff room waving her wand here and there, fluffing up a pillow there, smacking the dust out of a cushion there, and so on. Then she pointed her wand at a kettle to get some water ready for tea and settled her high-heeled self into a high-backed armchair.
Meeting time! Come along, darlings. It was back to business.

Start of term, back to work, greenhouses, Gryffindor, everything else. Seren had a checklist of things to do, daily, in the cover of her daily planner, and as it so happened to be time for one of the items at the top of her agenda. Staff meeting. They weren't so bad, even if they were tedious, the saving grace was the tea... always the tea.
"Helloooooo Annie," Seren greeted brightly - perhaps too brightly, entering and taking her usual seat, daily planner lightly thudding on the table.
The Divination Tower was ready for lessons to begin and Callie had already passed out class schedules and maps to the Ravenclaws before making a sweep of the Common Room. She wanted to check for stragglers trying to skive on their the first day of lessons or any trembling First years.
Now it was time for a Staff meeting to kick off the new term--Elwood was glad, they were good for unity and stuff. "Hello Annie, Seren." She was especially happy to see the Gryffindor Head of House, they hadn't gotten to speak much at the Feast. "I'll sit by you." she grinned as she took a seat and arranged her while she crossed a leg over the other.
Was the tea not ready yet? She'd gotten used to the stuff finally and was actually craving it oddly enough.

First meeting of the year. Piers yawned and ran a hand through his hair as he came down the hall. Letting himself into the staff room, the charms professor nodded to those already there. Headmistress, Herbology, and Divination.
"Afternoon, ladies. How are we doing today?" He sat down opposite of the two other professors and leaned back in his chair. Was there food? He was hungry.

Her watch was fiiiiine. Everything was fiiiine. Just needed a new enchantment was all, and voila! Perfect timing was being timed! Though the world may still very well end, because it looked like she was early. Biting her lip as she closed the door softly behind her, she glanced to her watch. That...was the right time...right?
Making a mental note to fiddle with the gadget later, she shook her wrist and smiled towards everyone, moving to the seat just a chair down from Piers. "Zdrasti, everyone."

She was here. And she was on time! Annie should be pleased with her promptness. She even was able to deal with a few classroom and common room things.
"Afternoon everyone!" Fina exclaimed, upon seeing several colleagues already situated around the table. "I've got some fresh baked peppermint humbug cookies too, if anyone would like?" She set them in the middle of the table, before taking a seat next to Medea. Because she's missed sitting near the woman at feasts and it would do good to catch up some, no?

Two steps, a small cane thud, two steps, a small cane thud, two steps, a small cane thud... all the way through the corridor. Botros had his usual relaxed face expression on, one hand tucked behind his back and the other clutching his cane.
The staff room was already packed with his colleagues, "Greetings." Oh and cookies from the former Arithmancy professor... he would've taken some cookies was he sure the woman wasn't going to try and stick her face in his face again. So he opted to politely walk around her and go to sit next to Callie. He liked the young woman, she was respectful and very fun to be around. Hi Callie he smiled at her.

Javy was definitely not going to miss this meeting. Nope, nope. Lala was fully resting in her little pen out by the barnyard and would be safe for the time without him there.
Entering in, his lips curved, "Good day, everyone." Giving his usual smile to everyone before plopping his rump down into one of the empty seats between Piers and Medea. Mm, comfy. He could get use to these chairs and the fresh scent of cookies at the table in front. His eyes glanced around at the others while waiting.

Fish tank in his arms once again, Airey waddled his way through the door and into the staff room once again trying his best not to spill any water on the floor or on anyone. He was sure someone would point out to him that he should just levitate it along side him, but that just seemed like an accident waiting to happen given the way his attention span could be at times.
He was a bit startled to see that so many had arrived already, but he greeted them all with his usual wide grin as he made his way towards an empty seat across from Medea and set Captain on the table in front of him. He didn't dare risk sitting too close to Calista for the time being, although he DID still have a favor to ask of her.
Wand out, he summoned his mug and filled it with his usual blend of tea before taking his seat properly where he began sipping on his tea while drumming on the table's surface with his other hand.
BAKED GOODS?!
"I never turned down a baked good," he said to the Muggle Studies professor. Although he was really looking forward to perhaps receiving some more brownies from Miss Adams. Those had been out of this world.
Taking another sip from his mug, he turned his attention to the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. "I've started that book you gave me. Learned a whole lot already," he said with a boyish grin. "Did you know that ferrets are often referred to as nature's clowns?"
Which really did mean that she had helped him pick out the perfect pet. He had been voted Class Clown after all.

Good, he managed to find the staff room with no problem and even made it on time. Braith observed that there were quite a few of the faculty already present but it appeared that the meeting had not started yet. He gave a collective nod to all who were there as he stepped inside the room. "Afternoon, all.." Now, where to sit? Was it assigned seats like in the Great Hall?
He soon decided that it was not as there seemed to be no real order to the arrangements. So he took a seat next to his former instructor, who was sitting near the Divination professor. He finally worked out where he knew the woman thanks to Josephina refreshing his memory. He'd have to catch up with her after the business portion... oh, were those cookies?
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Kirby wasn't late was he?? He had stepped back down to his hut briefly and got caught up in doing a lost count of lifting in front of his mirror. In fact his entrance also brought with him a sweaty stench into the room, but he brought crate of Honey jars with him too. Did he count it right and get correct number. One for each, but two the Blondo Astro Professor because he scared the pants off the scrawny guy at the feast.
Not wanting to sit too close to anyone because of stench, and well size. He stood against the wall "Trade you a jar for one of those sweets." He directed towards the Muggle Studies lady. Yup...still not recognizing her, though it maybe on the tip of his tongue.
Taking the staircase steps two at a time Leo quickly made his way down to the ground floor for the staff meeting. If he was late, he was late. He just had lost track of time in the library. Leaving Wilhelmina and Madonna alone felt like a test. Leo feared what he’d see when he got back.
Entering the staff room he murmured a cheerful "Good day everyone." As his gaze swept over everyone already seated around the table. Not knowing where to sit Leo opted for claiming the empty seat next to Braith. Plopping his rump down into a chair Leo drew in the lovely swell of freshly baked cookies. "Who has baked? It smells delicious."

Cosgrach made his way to the staff room in his secure, unhurrying steps. 'Late' wasn't in his book, so he didn't worry about that. At worst, he would miss lovely Annie's opening words. He could do with that. He was maybe late, because he couldn't decide what to wear: his black, classy robe or muggle suit? Black, classy wizard robe won at last. He put on a classy muggle perfume too and once arrived at the staff room, knocked once on the door, bowed with his head to whoever looked at him, greeted everyone with a "Good afternoon," and sat next to the librarian. He was probably going to need the man soon, so he had to make conversation with him. But for now, his eyes were solely on Annie and note how lovely she always looked.

It was the start of a new term, start of a new position, and now the start of a staff meeting. Cece entered the staff room without saying anything to anyone. Seeing that the room was already full, she opted to stand against the wall, the wall opposite of meathead the groundskeeper. She didn't need him trying to knock her off her feet, the way he had tried pushing her out of her seat at the feast.
Looking around the room she noticed a few staff members still missing. Good, at least she wasn't the last one to arrive. Their fearless leader couldn't blame her if the meeting got started late.
She also noticed the cookies on the table. Really? Why did all the snacks around this place have to be unhealthy sweets? Did no one around this school believe in healthy snacks, like fresh fruit. You could never go wrong with fruit.
Eh, whatever. Could they just get this meeting started? The sooner it started, the sooner it would be over.
literally mentions everyone, mostly Callie, Pierson and Fina
˝ EagleBrain ♥ Creeperdoodle ♥ Raven Dor ♥ Berry ♥ ˝ Team House Elf
Flipping her planner to the back, ready to note down the minutes, Seren looked up and beamed as Callie joined them. "Oh yes, please do," she grinned to her friend, patting the table beside her. "How was your summer?" she asked while they waited for others to arrive.
Pierson too, joined them at their end of the table - it was nice to see it filling, you could never count on students to do the same, most taking a seat anywhere they pleased, some as close as possible, others as far away as possible. Oddlings. "I'm well thank you, and yourself?" she asked.
It didn't take long, and soon the room was near full. Medea and Fina both received bright smiles and warm welcomes, but the peppermint humbug cookies pretty much stole the show. "Peppermint?" Seren echoed, rising from her seat with grabby hands, "you know my weakness so well, Fina," she mused, helping herself to one. "Thank you."
Hand and mouth around her cookie, Seren merely nodded a welcome to those who came soon after. Ab, Javy, Airey, Braith, Mr Muscles, Leo, Cosgrach and Cece... were they missing anyone else? Tiara! The Quidditch Official wasn't yet present. Oh, and Sophia of course...
Munching her cookie, Seren took up her self inking quill and neatly documented the date and time at the top of her page.
Callie, Seren, and Annie were the only ones here so far but at least the Herbology Professor started talking because if not the Headmistress was bound to try and make her talk about something else. "Oh my summer was okay. A few rough patches of course but overall I had plenty of time to relax and prepare for the new school year." Rough patches for sure but they could talk about that later since others would be joining them soon. "How was your's?"
"Good afternoon Pierson. I'm doing fine, and yourself?" Callie smiled at the Charms man and his greeting. And there was Fina. "Ooh don't mind if I do." The Ravenclaw Head snatched up a cookie and began to munch on it as she waited for the others.
Medea came in and took a seat not beside her as usual but across and slightly diagonal. That was okay. She nodded in greeting and then went back to her cookie. Wait, actually she had something to read. The blonde pulled a piece of folded parchment out of one of her many skirt pockets and began to read it as she waited for the others to come. Each of them were acknowledged with a nod as she read when they entered, Botros got a bright grin though, because he was Abraham.

Ah, beginning of term meetings. Actually, Tiara had been surprised last year at the lack of meetings to attend. Although, perhaps that had something to do with the fact that she wasn't, strictly speaking, a professor. Maybe there were more meetings for those who taught lessons.
Either way, there was one today and she was expected to attend. Traipsing down the hallway, Tiara paused to read the sign on the staff room door. Interesting. That's new since I was here.
The noise inside was that of a fairly large group. Hand in front of her, the official pushed open the door and noted that she was by no means the first one present. Which means I have hardly any choices of seats. She had been hoping to sit by Calista, as they hadn't really had a chance to finish their conversation at the Feast. Oh perfect, there's a seat by her!
As she made her way across the room, she said, "Good afternoon, everyone," to the room in general. There were too many here already for personal greetings. She headed a seat near Calista and Abraham. Dear me, Abraham is getting old. I hope he makes it through the year alright. "Abraham," she said, tapping him lightly on the shoulder to get his attention (in case he couldn't hear her, of course). "It's delightful to see you back this year. Good holiday?"
Moving towards the chair now, she adjusted her robes and settled in for the hopefully not long meeting. Turning to face Callie, she saw that the woman was reading, so she lightly touched the top of her hand in a friendly manner. "Calista, how is your term starting out?" she inquired. "And is the cookie any good?" No use eating a mediocre cookie.

It was only a few moments after sitting down did she have to turn to see just who else had arrived to the staff room already. Was kinda nice to be the one turning around to greet someone this time, without all those gazes pointed at her because of lateness. And cookies were involved! "You bake, Phina?" she asked, smiling towards the Muggle Studies professor as she sat in the seat next to herself.
Maybe when she got her tea she'd try one...
Or after everyone had arrived. Flashing a smile towards Botros, she was a bit surprised when one of the new professors sat right there. Next to her. The one that wore the lovely cravat from before. "Zdra- ahem... Hello, I mean." Oh good, more people entering. Awkward greeting fail could be forgotten.
Another one of the new professors, and the larger one, the serious one, as well as many faces she knew well; Airey, Leo, Cece, Seren, and Tiara. She smiled to them all, and nodded to a few as she reached over to take one of the freshly baked peppermint humbug cookies. They looked too good to pass up. Yet her interest in whatever Callie was reading was cut off from something that equally perked her curiosity.
Oh? Ferret facts! "I...did not, no." Taking a sniff of the cookie, her gaze lingered on Airey. "Vot else did that book say?"
fine, nobody sit next to me. *huffs* *sits at the head of a table so there* :P

Right then, just about everyone was here... except for Bellaire, of course. That woman always knew how to make an entrance, didn't she? But maybe she had a good excuse. She did have a grandson to care for right now, after all.
The redheaded Headmistress leaned forward and took a few peppermint cookies, as soon as Josephina offered them. Naturally her mouth was full of cookie when the majority of the staff entered, and not wanting to seem rude or mannerless, she was resigned to merely greeting them all with nods. Oh well, they all had their own friends to sit by.
Hmphh. She was fine out here all alone in left field. Fine fine, just fiiiiiine. Was this how Botros felt at the feasts?
The redhead summoned the pot of tea to the table and scooted her chair closer to the group, so she was something like the head of the meeting. Once that was all taken care of, and her own cup of tea was poured, Annie rose to begin the meeting.
"Greetings, again. Hope everyone is settling in and is ready for the start of lessons." She smiled around genially. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. After all, we do have some funds left over from the EBWEQBSC, and although I'd like to trust the Board of Governors to invest them wisely.... well, they don't have the best track record."
Yes, she did still hold Hops Lagerty responsible for the theft of all their funds two years ago. But that was another story.
"Now, onto our only real order of business, so far... the House Ghosts have suggested we hold a School Spirit pep rally, before quidditch starts and all that. Thoughts, comments, questions or concerns with hosting said pep rally? The Grey Lady suggested the dungeons to me," she pulled a face, which clearly showed what she thought of that, "but then, that would be the favored place of ghosts."

Oh, were they starting now? She should probably actually not chat all the way through the meeting then, yes? The former Ravenclaw zipped her lips, as it were, and made herself comfortable.
Don't hesitate to ask... Well, Anastasia had said it herself. "Excuse me, Anastasia," she said as the woman paused for breath. "I noticed when the school brooms came back that they are a touch out of date." As in they were most likely purchased back in 2063.. at which point they had been 'gently used' by a family with 5 small children for a decade. "I was wondering if there was a way we could trade them in, " to a museum, "and procure some newer models in better condition."
As for the rest of what the Headmistress was saying, yes yes that all sounded just fine. Tiara nodded along in assent. Though the dungeons were certainly not the first place that came to her mind when thinking of 'peppy' places, she understood why the ghosts would want a rally down there.

There was actually quite a lot that the book said. Or well, had printed in its pages that he had read since this book did not talk like some of the others in its collection. Not unless he charmed it to do so while he was rolling the lint roller around the office to pick up all that fur. Not to mention the life lessons and sometimes reminded him of The Tales of Beedle the Bard his mother had read to him growing up. Only with ferrets.

But he was unable to respond to Medea due to the staff meeting officially coming to order. He offered an especially soft golf clap at the mention of their being some funding left over, because YAY this meant his salary was back to being normal, right? No more budget cuts or anything? He was just going to take the Headmistress' pleasant appearance as a sign that all this was true.
His got that sparkle in his eyes and his posture straightened with interest at the mention of a pep rally. He could also appreciate the irony of holding them in the dungeons. Finding cheer in the last place you would expect it? Sounded like the ultimate meaning of pep to him. "I think it is a stellar idea, dungeon and all. With the right spellwork and out of the box thinking we could really create something special. The dungeons also have decent acoustics for any cheers or songs that perhaps the ghosts would like to teach the students."
His eyes drifted downwards to his fish tank. He remembered a game that him and his mates had played once. Called it Kiss the Squid or Hug the Whomping Willow back then and it was more of a dare among the boys in the dorms. Every April Fools abouts they would write down the name of one of their dorm mates and put it in a jar. The one who had the votes had to either try and kiss the giant squid or hug the Whomping Willow. Maybe....his paused his thoughts and briefly glanced around the table...it could be the professor with the most votes would have to kiss his bass. And hopefully that person would be Calista and then Captain could be human again!
Only he kept this to himself for now and just gave the whole pep rally concept two thumbs up. GRIN.

Botros found the size of the groundskeeper very normal. Being big was not an oddity for men, and it made more sense that the man worked with earth. He actually had a runic proof that this was normal. The man received a greeting bow of the head like the rest.

School Spirit pep rally. Botros scratched his bald scalp in agreement to this. It was a fun way to unite the whole school, yes. In the dungeons though? He didn't like the dungeons, but he understood where the Grey Lady was coming from, and Airey's explanation made the idea seem tolerable. Specially about the acoustics. "The dungeons sound alright, with the right spell work we can make them less dark and gloomy." He'd happily apply some runes here and there too, for longevity of said spellwork.
As for activities. "I'd like to see some activities involving the staff along with the students." His eyes twinkled just a little. "To lower that student-teacher barrier, get ourselves out of the formal attitude with the kids. I think it'll help us get through to them in later time, quicker and easier than the disciplinary way." Was it obvious that his wife handled their kids in a disciplinary way while he spoiled them?
The time for small talk and idle chatter abruptly drew to a close as Annie stood up to bring order to the meeting. Quietly Leo poured himself a cup of hot tea and snatched up a cookie from the tray as Annie got down to business even though they were one staff member short. Sophia had not arrived yet.
Leo pondered if he should send her a message when his attention was taken up fully by what Annie was saying. They were no longer poor and actually had some funds leftover from the EBWEQBSC to spend or rather invest wisely. Tiara petitioned for new brooms, or at least trading away the old ones for newer models. A not unreasonable request since many of the school brooms had been repossessed by the goblins, when it came alight just how grave Hogwarts money problems were.
Leo’s eyes widened slightly in surprise when he heard the request coming from the house ghosts about holding a school spirit rally preferably in the dungeons. With Airey’s and Abrahams ideas in mind though it seemed like a do-able idea. "I think it sounds like a wonderful idea to hold a school spirit pep rally even if the dungeons aren’t might first choice of location. I can understand why the house ghosts would want the rally to be held there though and with Airey's ideas we could make the dungeons more special and cheerful." Looking over at Abraham he asked "What kind of student & staff activities do you have in mind?"

Good heavens, Sophia never tolerated being late and here she was, running a tiny bit late-ish for the meeting. No matter though she had a very good excuse, so really excuse her. She pushed open the staff room door said good morning and took her seat.
"Sorry I got held up." And now she'd sit and catch up. She wasn't that late so she knew it wouldn't be too hard to catch up.
