That's right folks, come on in a Gobstones match between two of your favorite Hogwarts houses is taking place and you don't want to miss it or the prime seats up front! The room that plays host to the Gobstones matches has a few rows of raised seats along each of the long side walls, leaving plenty of room in the middle for the players to shoot for the Jack Stone.
Find a place to cheer on your house or whichever house you want to win because these players may not be brawny Quidditch jocks (or they might just be) but they still deserve the support!
The benches in the Great Hall were pulled to the side, serving as a viewing area. For those of you who did not find a seat, you may stand close by, just make sure not to touch or interfere with anything.
OCC Note:Magical Soul, the rest of staff and I (Nordic Witch) are going to do our best to keep an eye in this thread as Matches progress, although it is no longer a moderated thread. Remember all SS School RPG and site rules apply here. Thank you very much for watching!

It was Gobstones time!!! And Seren wanted a good seat right up front for this match. She was eager to see how her Lions would fare against the Badgers.
Dressed in red for the occasion, she claimed her seat, one leg crossed over the other and waited patiently for the students to assemble and the match to begin. Her knees bounced as she tapped her foot excitedly.

Dressed in red, as was the usual when it came to these sort of things, Airey made his way to the viewing area just as Leobald started the match and resisted the urge to ruffle the Ravenclaw Head of House's feathers by shouting about seeing a bald spot from up here. Spotting Seren, he made his way over towards the Herbology professor and plopped himself down. "Hello, Seren," he greeted, rubbing his hands together to get some of the chill off of his finger tips.
"YOU'LL GET IT NEXT TIME, MISS MESSER!" he cheered on the first year as she took it upon herself to throw the first Gryffindor toss of the match AND the term. "Well played, Miss Abbott!"
The second toss of the match had the astronomer on the edge of his seat wondering if Miss Valentine and manage to put enough UMPH into it, especially against Miss Abbot who seemed to be a natural at gobstones.
"Stellar to see first and second years giving it a go," he mused to his colleague.

"Airey, for a moment I thought you weren't going to make it," she replied, eyes taking in the red. They must have been a sight for sore eyes, vibrant red to bring some House spirit and cheer. Red was a delightful colour, once you got used to it. Her heel was still tapping, even as the match began and the stones were rolled. Seren applauded between shots.
She was still too focused on observing that her cheering was yet to kick in, so she let Airey take care of that. He was the louder of the two of them. Plenty big voice to compensate for her silence.
"I couldn't agree more, and it's such an understated game... it'd be nice to see some of the others give it a go sometime." Would do them some good, take away from their loitering and mischief-making time.

He managed to chuckle lightly after her remark, but truth was that he really ALMOST didn't make it down. Research had gotten the better of him. New research and not the sort he was supposed to be doing. Probably a bad thing that he had become somewhat obsessed in another branch of astronomy when he had a deadline to meet. Oh well, nothing coffee and redvines couldn't fix. They certainly helped when pulling all nighters to get things done. But the redvines made for terrible straws when it came to coffee.
Seriously. Gross stuff.
"Surprise!" he cheered. Or something. Whatever. He was here now. "I missed the last match unfortunately. I hear that...Slytherin won, yeah?" He had heard it was a close match, but other than that he was out of the loop.
"Do they make practice sets?" he asked. "Might be worth investing in one for the common room. Give the lions a bit of an edge with extra practice." Or maybe he needed to give an lecture on the physics behind motion and momentum in regards to gobstones...along with a brief reminder of Newton’s Laws of Motion. It was really all 'simple' calculations in the end.

Well, she had been told that gobstones was an alternative "cool thing" to do, so here she was. As she finally found her way to the match she saw that there were only two professors there. Oh yeah, this was looking REALLY cool. Either way she knew her sister was giving it a go and she was here to cheer her on. "Hello professors." Upon a closer look she noticed it was her head of house and the dancing man. Cool.
The first year plopped herself down. "GO ANGEL!!!" she hollered. Ahem. So this wasn't a sporting event, but she was going to cheer like it was anyways. "You use those brains." Heh.

Surprise indeed. Shaking her head, Seren turned her attention back to the ring. Seemed as though Candice and Angel had some tough competition, but the Badgers were well seasoned, even if one of their competitors was new. Still, she applauded. "Roll 'em Gryffindor! Keep it up Miss Messer, Miss Valentine!" she cheered. Show them Badgers what Lions were made of.
"I believe so, I didn't make it either... you know how it is..." too distracted by the greenhouses to really spend too much time elsewhere.
She continued watching with great interest, though it didn't thrill her to see that Hufflepuff were asserting their dominance so early on in the match. "You know... that's not a bad idea... we should look into that." And by we, she might have meant him. It was his genius idea, and she still had a to-do list as long as a Devils Snare's tendril.

Alas, they weren't the only ones to come and watch, excellent.. and even better, it was another Lion. "Aubrey, so good of you to make it," she welcomed, figuring she was here to support Angel. Though... use her brains?

He would have to make the effort next time...and not get so wrapped up in his own research and hobbies that he missed them. Especially since there was no quidditch this term to support students and, as selfish as it was, done his speciality suits.
Leaning back in his seat a bit, and frowning just a little as Miss Valentine's toss was twarted by Miss Abbot's, he simply nodded his head in reply. "Not a clue where one would get that around here. Surely somewhere in Hogsmeade has them," he pondered out loud as he thoughtfully tapped his chin with his index finger.

And he was confused for a moment. A brief moment. But still confused and thought for a moment that the Miss Valentine down playing in the match had somehow transported herself to the stands. Still working on that whole...telling them apart.
"Good day, Miss Valentine," he waved as his attention turned back to the match.
Part science? ONLY part. He was amused. "I always found that some simple calculations in my head in regards to my stone increased the probability of success rather significantly. So technically, using one's brain is a legitimate cheer," he interjected the two's conversation and would have gone on had it not been for the smelly yellow gob being sprayed in their direction.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! HIS SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUIT!

Gobstones sets. Practice sets. She couldn't think of where either. "I'm sure Leo or Ab could point us in the right direction." All things considered, they were the ones who would know, no? "Or we could always order it from Wiseacres."
The game wasn't going in their favour, despite the efforts of Candice, Angel and Bay. In fact, considering how skilled Leah seemed at the game, it was no wonder the Badgers were well and truly in the lead. She chose not to indulge the Astronomer in a war of words and opinions. She was convinced the sport was only part science and part practice with a hint of chance.
Seren did however, duck and lean to the side in an effort to miss the spray of gob. Ugh. UUUGGGHHH. It was disgusting stuff, and it was supposed to hit the players, not her! She wiped her sleeve at a patch that landed on her robes, it was sickly, but could be dealt with later. Candice was having her shot!...
Leaning forward in her seat, she watched as the first year rolled her stone toward the jack. "Bravo!" she cheered with two thumbs up as she saw now close it got. It was a fantastic shot.
Finding that her arms shot down to her sides almost involuntarily, Seren hunched her shoulders forward. It was chilllyyyyyyy. Feeling her teeth begin to chatter, she shoved her hands deep into her pockets and kept her arms pinned to her sides in an effort to trap some of her body heat in the folds of her red robes.

The first year smiled at her head of house. "Thanks professor, I wouldn't miss a chance to cheer my sister on." Or any friend or Gryffindor for that matter. Her good friend Adi was playing as well and as much as she wished him well, he was playing for Hufflepuff, and she didn't want that house to win.
She didn't miss the confusion that flashed across the Astronomy professor's face. It would take people some getting used to that the sisters were identical. A smirk played across the young lions lips as she listened to his explanation about how brains WERE indeed part of the game. "What he said." Yup, she was totally getting at that. "Of course practice does make perfect." It was true for her when it came to the sports that she played. What was that, that just came flying at them? "Cool!" She inspected the strange substance that made a new home on her robes. This game was getting more interesting by the minute.
A shiver went down her spine all of a sudden and she felt like the temperature dropped ten degrees at least. "Brrrr... I wish I would have worn something warmer."

Zander knew he was running late to the match, but better late than never, right? The third year ran as fast as he could as soon as he remembered that Gryffindor was playing today! Oops. He reached the viewing area to see a few Professors and a student already there. Hmmph. With Quidditch cancelations, Zander thought more students would show up to watch Gobstones? Maybe it was just because it was so early in the term? Hopefully the game would catch on. Annnnyyyywayyys.
Zander looked around at the other viewieeees. "AH What did I miss?!" He half asked/ half exclaimed in between his breaths. Next time he'd have to set an alarm or something.....

UG...THE SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELL. Cringing and pinching his nose with one hand, he removed his wand with the other and cleaned up the area immediately surrounding him before standing up to inspect his suit. Oh sweet solstice, there was some on his arm and left trouser leg. NUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Trying his best to magically clean his suit, he would be bringing this one by the muggle drycleaners this weekened for sure, he took Seren's silence as her understanding that he was correct. Logically speaking, of course. Grinning towards the Herbology professor, he turned his attention to Miss Valentine when she naturally agreed with him. "I hope you practice enough that you choose to participate in the next Gryffindor match," he encouraged the first year. "I am sure that you and your sister would make a fierce pair." Twins had that sort of special link. He was sure it could be a great asset to Gryffindor in these sort of competitions.
Attention back on Seren now, he simply nodded. He needed to go speak to LeoBALD about something anyway so he could just add that to the check list of topics.
"Good day, Mr. Adair," he waved to the young man as he appeared. "Just Gryffindor making quite the comeback thanks to the efforts of Miss Messer!" He puffed out his chest quite a bit as he watched the first year battle it out against the tag team that was Hufflepuff.
And then an icy chill shot down the astronomer's spine and he hugged himself to keep his body warmth from escaping. Merlin, who left the window open? "Wooo, if I wasn't awake already that certainly woke me up," he chuckled. Like splashing cold water on your face.
Blue eyes back on the match now, and still standing and shivering slightly, he clapped loudly as Miss Valentine gave what looked to be a very valiant toss.

Oh a Gryffindor comeback! That was definitely nice to hear. Wait, what was this? GRYFFINDOR IS IN THE LEAD!? The young lion was caught up in all the excitement and without thinking it through he turned to his Professor and screamed, "AHHH WE'RE IN THE LEAD NOW!" Wow, who knew Gobstones could be this competitive. And interesting. The rest of the student section must be filled next match. This stuff is intense. "GOOOOOOO GRYFFINDOR!" Zander did his best to project his voice. So yes, the young lion was shy all around, but ah competition just brought out his wild side.
This was so much fun.

This was so much fun.
The match was certainly getting interesting now, between Candice and Angel it was fast swinging in their favour. Demelza served to add some experience to the team, and definitely made an impact on the outcome of the game. Very nice shot. Very nice. Seren applauded as the Lion's gained momentum. "Angel's picking it up very quickly, did you play the muggle form very often?" she asked Audrey, curious to know if the Lioness had some sort of experience in the sport. Of course she 100% agreed with Airey on that point, "He's right, you should give it a go, it might be a skill you both share." And if they had it, why not use it?
Her eyes were back on the intense match as Zander appeared in the viewing area with them, she shot him a quick smile and a wave as Airey filled him in. In the end she was too swept up in the sport to really take note of anything that was being said anymore. But one thing she did catch onto, was the fact that they were winning. "We are!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands together again as Cris and Candice rolled their stones again.
Intense!
"Keep 'em rolling rolling rolling Gryffindor!" ..... just not rolling too far. Ahem.

Zander was so excited about Gryffindor's sudden lead that he almost missed this next shot. Uh-oh. Looks like Hufflepuff got this one. He waited for the scores to be announced and NOOOO. A TIE!? "Oh no, this is going to be a close match," he could just feel it in the air. Gryffindor was neck-and-neck with Hufflepuff now. One wrong move and their team could go tumbling down.
"IT'S OKAY GRYFFINDOR, WE'LL GET THE NEXT ONE!" The heated competition really impassioned the young lion because he was practically screaming now. "ROAR ROAR GO GRYFFINDORRR!!" He screamed just as the next stones were rolled.

Angel was doing really well, and she was so proud of her sister. She suddenly stood up and shouted. "Let's do the wave." She threw her hands in the air and brought them back down. "Whoooo Gryffindor." AJ hoped that everybody would join in, but she was enjoying herself either way.
Thie first year smiled at the two professors. "Maybe I will give it a go next time. Maybe the twin thing will confuse the other team." And then they lose, that would be very convenient if you asked her. "I've never played ma'am. I'm more into sports." Real sports that is. "I may try this out though since Quidditch was taken away." Not that was something that she wanted to take part in. She was used to getting told no here. No Quidditch AJ, you can't get a house elf AJ, Unicorns don't make good pets AJ. UGH! What was the point of being magical?
Oh look, there was another lion. "Hey there. I'm AJ!" He seemed cool enough and who knows maybe she would make another friend out of it.

Zander had been so focused on cheering and watching the match that he totally missed the other lion that was cheering along side him. "Hi, AJ," he said softly. "I'm errr, Zander," he gave her a small smile. D'aww she looked so small. Must be a firstie. "GO GRYFFINDOOOOOOOR!"
Oh no. It was the final toss. Both teams were at a stand-still. The score is tied. This could go either way. It was literally anyone's match. This was so frustrating.
Wait for it.... Wait for it.... WAIT FOR--
"NOOOOO!" and Hufflepuff got the points. Awwwwwh, but they were oh so close this time! "It's okay Lions, we'll beat Ravenclaw," Besides Gryffindor was up with house points at the moment, so even if they didn't get high rankings in Gobstones they still had a chance to come out on top. No biggieeee.

At this point the astronomer had all but forgotten about the chill in the air as things really started to heat up in the match. It was back and forth and back and forth and OH SWEET SOLSTICE A TIE!? Holding his breath, he watched as Miss Valentine gave one last valiant toss to try and bring Gryffindor a victory, but alas. Mr. Strand's toss was just a little bit better this time around.
"WELL ROLLED GRYFFINDOR, WELL ROLLED!" he cheered as he stood up, just as Old Man River had suggested they do, while clapping. And yes, some extra applause for you as well, Hufflepuff, for your victory.
Turning his attention back to Seren and the two students, he grinned and nodded his head. "Ravenclaw is quite the tough opponent as well, but with team work and practice... victory will belong to Gryffindor. I hope the two of you decide to give it a go." If not then he certainly looked forward to cheering with them in the stands next time.
Since he was already on his feet, Airey decided to capitalize on the opportunity to dismiss himself. "If you will excuse me, I have some prep to do in the astrophysics laboratory," he said, offering them all one last salute before making his way out of the viewing area.

Having read that Professor Botros needed help finding his Remembralls, Cris made his way down to the Gobstones Viewing Area. Since Professor Botros along with Mr. Kitredge had officiated their last Gobstones match, Cris figured that he would first start his search here.
Getting down on his knees, he began looking under the bleachers because if a Remembrall was to fall out of the Professor's pocket, that would be the most likely place it would roll under.
Aarrgh!!..candy wrappers? Why didn't people throw their trash in the appropriate trash bins provided. Reaching in, Cris picked up the wrappers and pulled them out. Guess he could help do some trash clean up while searching for those Remembralls.
Look for something red, Cris, he told himself. Having been out here that long, Cris assumed that it would most certainly have turned that color by now. So he continued to search.

Adi had made plans to meet Cris so they could go on a Remembrall Hunt and their first stop was the Gobstones Viewing Area. That made sense as Botros recently moderated a match there.
Stepping into the Viewing Area, the third year scanned the place looking for any signs of Cris. But the boy seemed to have not arrived as yet. Not wanting to waste any time, he decided he would get started in the meanwhile. Randomly selecting a patch of bleacher, Adi bounded over scanning the parts of the floor that were in plain sight. But he wasn't watching properly where he was going and as a result he tripped over something and went sprawling face first.
WHAT in the world had he tripped over? Adi sat up and as he rubbed his hands which he had stuck out to break his fall, looked for the cause of his fall. He blinked. A pair of feet? He edged closer and poked them. "Watch where you're sticking those, buddy.''

Cris felt something bump against his feet and then the sound of someone falling. Totally forgetting that he was under a bleacher, Cris immediately got up, only to hit the back of his head against the bleacher floor...almost knocking himself off.
Literally seeing stars, Cris crawled out from under the bleacher, rubbing the back of his head. Hearing someone tell him to watch where he placed his feet, Cris grumpily turned around to confront the speaker. It was Adi.
"Hey my feet were out in the open. I can't help it if you didn't see it, dude," Cris told the boy. "Look what you made me do," Cris told him rubbing the tender spot. Then he relented. Now wasn't time to argue. All he wanted to do was find one of the remembralls Professor Botros had mentioned he had lost.
"Let me guess, you're here to look for lost Remembralls too. Wanna work together? With both of us working together, we should be able to find them soon enough," Cris suggested to the younger Hufflepuff.

"Good point,'' Adi said, folding his legs so he was sitting cross legged. "I was busy looking everywhere else except in front of me.'' It seemed Cris had hit his head. "Oops. Sorry about that but you should be more careful.'' Hehe.
"Yes, Remembralls. Have you had any luck as yet?'' the third year asked as he he glanced around. Hey, on the floor he had a way better view. That would explain why Cris was under the bleachers. "Let's get cracking then.'' Adi grinned and still on his hands and knees crawled off in the opposite direction of Cris. "I'll let you know when I find any.''
And so the search continued. Come out, come out wherever you are, Remembralls.

"Sup Zander." Awww man, just like that the Gryffindors had lost. AJ needed to go check on her sister, and make sure that she was alright. Adi had played a really good game, and she should congratulate him even if it meant that her house had lost.
Professor Airey was leaving too. "Maybe I will next time." She was still thinking about that. "I guess I should be leaving as well. Bye professors. It was nice meeting you Zander."
The first year walked off in search of her sister.

Cris waved his hand at Adi's apology. "No harm done. I should have watched where I was placing my feet. As for my head, I have plenty of knocks on it. It'll be fine in awhile," Cris turned back to look under the bleachers.
"So far no. I'm trying to remember where Professor Botros was sitting during the match. Do you remember?" Cris ducked his head out to look questioningly at Adi.
