NOTE: Fatigue points ONLY need to be used when you are physically attacking someone, or avoiding a spell. All other maneuverings around the hall do not need to be accounted for.

A referee (Professor Flamsteed or Dakest) will be assigned to your duel and present. They will only interfere if there is need, including foul play, serious injury or unacceptable or illogical use of spells.
OOC: Each duel must be completed by no later than November 30, midnight GMT-6 (OOC). Remember that a duel ends when one dueler has lost ALL magic or ALL health points. Please make duels a minimum of 3 posts each.
If you have questions, please ask. Also, if for some reason you cannot complete or start your duel, please let both me and your partner know. We will work something out.
Remember: duelers MUST keep track of their own points as they go. At the top of their post (in the tag line) they must include their current standing of points, as they are at the BEGINNING of that post. At the bottom of their post, they must include a 'spoiler' tag, including the spells which they've cast (and the directionallity of the spell, so the opponent can easily reference the potential damage to themselves), the spell(s) that have affected them (if any) and their own final Point Standing for that post.

Sixth place wasn't so bad. It wasn't. It could have been worse...right....? There...were more than 6 other students who got grouped in the Jinx category so...so...technically even if he lost this duel, he had nothing to be ashamed of because he wouldn't be placing DEAD LAST no matter what.
It was a comforting thought; one the little boy would cling to for all it was worth because David Truebridge was a genius that actually knew how to cast spells.
Lightening didn't strike the same place twice and in that same breath it was unlikely he'd pull a second win in less than a month. There was just no way so he had to come to terms with this as early as possible. Lower expectations, avoid disappointment. It was the stance he'd taken with his wand. She could work when she wanted and when she didn't...he would just run. No big deal. Blaise might have wished Davie good luck but he didn't want him thinking he meant that he NEEDED luck if he wanted to win--because frankly that's where his mind would have gone and yeah......so the little boy simply bowed, turned and counted out the ten steps in his head.
Mentally he was preparing himself for the moment he would turn around. Davie had nothing to worry about. Months ago, he might have just lunged at him and taken whatever would come as a result but Davie was good people and the urge to deck him had never risen after that night in the RoR. Kid might have been worried about looking stupid but having others watching his others duels....he was long pass that point and was just trying NOT to go unconscious.
At the end of the ten, the boy turned sharply, uttering the first spell that came to mind--which just happened to be the cornflake skin spell. Don't even ask how he remembered it.

"Blaise Blaise Blaise." Davie walked into the duel shaking his head but smiling a little bit at his former enemy and current friend. "Good luck today, mate." Blaise might have been quiet and focused as they walked their paces and bowed, but Davie was loose and limber and feeling confident. He wasn't OVERLY confident, since it wasn't like he was dueling for first place, but he was feeling alright. He liked Blaise, he knew the other boy's strengths (Muggle fist-fighting) and weaknesses (the subjects he'd skipped) so he was prettttttty sure he'd be able to pull off a win today. "Whoa!" David took a step to the side as a sudden spell came WHOOOOOOSHING past him. That was fast. Were they starting already then? Why did he think Blaise was going to be easy to beat?! "Cornflake skin spell, eh Blaise? I thought we were friends!"
That's right, David was going to try to distract him with a little talky talky while he cast his next spell in retaliation. "Incarcerous! You don't treat your friends to a breakfast of Frosted Skinflakes!"

You wanted the truth? He wasn't ready for this duel (was he ever?) and he wasn't sure how he was going to pull this off. By some miracle, a spark of light had left his wand and shot towards Davie but even then, how could he have been sure that if it had actually hit him it would have worked at all?
"In all fairness," He started, "that spell might not have done a single thing to yo--" There was rope flying at him. Sweet Merlin where did it even come from????
Oh right. Davie's wand. This was still a duel. Right. Right. Right.
The young Gryffindor toppled over under the force of the ropes that seized and tackled him to the floor as it would seem. Well...he wanted to say that was unexpected but to be honest, he saw it coming shortly after raising his wand, yelling 'protego' and realizing nothing was happening. The kid was doomed to these ropes the moment they left his partner's wand.
Blaise wiggled around on the floor, trying to find some way of loosening them. Depend on his wand to cut them? FAT CHANCE. He'd have better luck of a dragon swooping in to lend him a bloody claw so NO THANK YOU he would just wiggle around like a flobberworm until something happened.
"Friends don't TIE friends up either, Davie. It's just shoddy etiquette."Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle.
"How do I get out of these things?" He was allowed to tell him? Right? It wasn't like this was a test and he was trying to sneak a peep at his paper--Davie would let him see his paper though, yeah?

Blaise might not have thought he was very good at magic, but Davie was 100% sure he didn't want to be Blaise's test subject for the one spell he knew. He didn't even KNOW if finite would would work on one's skin. It would be a scarring experienced to be sure. "You couldn't have tried an easier spell first?"
He sighed and took a step closer to Blaise, then hesitated as he was SURE the Gryffindor was going to send something back at him. But when nothing came right away, Davie let out a small chuckle. Then another. "Yeah, sorry for trying to teach you a lesson. Here, let me help you get up at least..... Levicorpus!" Oops, had he said that aloud? Well he WAS helping Bellaire up...
But the Ravenclaw was too busy chuckling to say much else.

He was upside down. Tied and upside down and kinda dizzy and oh yeah, upside down. This was just brilliant. Bloody fantastic and he was reminded anew of exactly what he liked about magic; absolutely nothing.
This was most certainly not how one helped a friend. Perhaps a trip to the library would prove effective when this was all over. Davie needed a reminder if this friendship was to continue because CLEARLY going red in the face as all the blood rushed down there was not what one would typically classify as 'help'.
It took a bit more wiggling before he finally felt the rope loosening, though whether this was actual effort or the spell wearing thin, he didn't care to know. Blaise was able to free his hand for all the good it would do him. What spell could he honestly cast right now and what could it honestly do for him? It wasn't like his spell bank was low on knowledge. On the contrary, he knew LOADS of spells. Now ask which ones he could actually cast. Go ahead.
Brown eyes glanced to his quill and notepad floating along the sidelines just waiting for the next thing. It was taking this all down. Wonderful.
Quite the story it would turn out to be, him dueling upside down the way he was. No doubt his quill would make him out to be a miracle worker, defying the odds and adversities. Huh. He kinda liked how that was starting to sound and raised...lowered....--really it depended on how you looked at it--his wand and cast a hot air charm. If nothing else it could at least be distraction. Hopefully.

"Heeeeeeheheheheee," was pretty much all Davie said, in a laugh-wheeze that kept him from seeing Blaise doing anything with his wand. All he felt was a bit of a hot breeze around his collar, which he tugged away from his neck with a little fanning. Naturally it didn't occur to him that maybe the heat had come from Blaise?
All laughter aside though, Davie wasn't totally heartless, and he didn't think it would be fair to NOT help Blaise. He could at least help him out of the ropes. "Here, hold still, and prepare for a bit of a hard landing," he said to the Gryffindor, aiming his wand at him very, very carefully. "Diffindo!"

And now he was being laughed at--yet another thing he'd become accustomed to thanks to the shoddy piece of wand he was obligated to work with. Good thing he had a plan. Over the summer he would wear his mum down. Kid was prepared to pull out all the stops to ensure he didn't return to Hogwarts with the same wand ever again.
The boy huffed, obviously put off by the fact his spell did next to NOTHING--but don't get him wrong, he was pretty put off by this whole hanging tied upside down thing too. Yup.
Um. Define hard landing. Blaise looked to his partner and even though he'd stopped wiggling he was still more than just a little uncertain about this whole thing. A hard landing? It was probably right up there with being half exploded...wasn't it? He did brace himself though and found out why just seconds later when the rope fully loosened and he found himself crashing to the floor.
"Ooowwwwww..." The boy rubbed at his head, wishing the floor was more like the playground--cushioned. That was more than a hard landing. Merlin. "Er...thanks?" His hand still moved to tenderly rub at his head and the disappointment was slowly setting in. Falling head first and the wand manages to make it out alright. Of course. How typical. She was a surviver. The spiteful sort that would not be done away with.
Now where were they? Oh yeah. Duel. "Aguamenti!" Running thin, that's what he was doing.

Oof, that was kind of a rough landing. Davie winced in sympathy for Blaise, and shrugged off his thanks. "Just remember to do the same for me, if you ever see me tied up, k?" He really wasn't a fighter, he was realizing. He didn't even try to duck or anything when Blaise shot water at him. That was probably one of the Gryffindor's best spells, and Davie figured it would be good for him to get a hit in.
"I like Aguamenti too," the Ravenclaw admitted, pushing his wet hair out of his face so it stood up like a spiky mess. "Here's a spell you should learn.... Colloshoo!" The Stickfast Hex! Char was really good at that one. Hopefully it would work even though Davie basically announced it before he cast it.

He didn't know whether to be stunned or kinda happy that Davie would trust him to cut him down should he ever be tied up. Stunned. Maybe stunned was the right reaction because on the off chance his wand decided to do any form of magic, it didn't always do the magic HE wanted. Still, if Davie was confident he could get him untied, he would, one way or another--most likely through muggle means. Ahem. "Definitely. I'd never leave you hanging." Unless he was the one to tie him up in the first place but why would he ever need to do that?
Blaise was all attention the moment Davie suggested he learn a spell. He didn't think he'd actually bother with the practice element but what if he needed to read up on it later?
Only thing was, after his friend cast, he realized he DID know that spell. It was one he'd cast at Rooney in his last duel. What did that do agai--whoa! Blaise rolled suddenly, having already been plopped on the floor. He KNEW what that spell did and after being hung and tied, he didn't fancy being stuck to the ground too. "I tried that spell before!" He beamed proudly as he steadied himself. "No idea if it worked on account of Rooney blocking it though."
Shakily the boy got to his feet. "I used this one too!" He added before taking aim once more and casting what he hoped would be green sparks at Davie.

"Appreciate it," Davie nodded seriously, as though they'd just struck some kinda Diffindo deal. Oh? Blaise had used that one before? He beamed back at his friend. "Good job! Maybe next year we should practice our spells on each other, so we'll know if they work or not?" Like with no blocking or dodging being allowed? It would probably be painful but they both needed the practice, to be honest...
He blinked a little bit as Blaise announced another spell he'd used... green sparks! As soon as Davie saw those coming his way, he dived completely to the floor. Ouch, but he didn't fancy getting sparked by green sparks! Those weren't as harmless as Aguamenti.
Still on the floor, Davie suppressed a giggle and quickly but quietly cast a spell that might give Blaise a laugh: "Titillando!" Sneak attack! (Sorta but not really, plus that one would just make him giggle.) Davie would have cast a cheering charm if he knew how to!
