He watched her study his palms, wondering what she was thinking. He had never spent so much time thinking about his hands, or the hands of anyone else. "I think you've got it. Yes, deep lines and squarish palms for me." Asher listened to Ella mention her brother and thought that must be why she seemed to nice to him. Most of the older girls didn't appear care much for the first year boys.

He watched her pull out her parchment and wright their findings down. "Stinson. My last name is Stinson." He glanced one last time at her palms. "I don't believe your lines are very deep. At least they aren't nearly as deep as mine. And, they are much smoother. Maybe because they are water hands and water is smooth?"


He took a moment to copy down the same notes on his parchment.

While the teacher was talking, Sarah was examining her thumbs. So having such long thumbs was not bad after all. It used to drive her made as her thumbs looked so stretched.. but that meant she was ambitious. This was probably based on statistics, so maybe this kind of diviniton was not so bad.

Sarah stood up and picked up her notes. Her eyes looked around the room for a partner. "does anyone want to be my partner?" she asked. It would be funny examining people's fingers yet she could use it for her characters when she wrote, like if she had to describe a charecters hands or something.

Eliza was still looking over her hand when Professor Elwood said they needed partners now. She looked around the room to see if anyone looked to be by themselves still, until she heard a voice. Turning to see who it was, she saw Sarah and walked over to her. "Hey Sarah! I'll be your partner." She pulled out her notebook and read off some of what she thought about her own hands, holding them out for Sarah to see as she did so.

"I think I'm either an air or a water hand because I have long fingers, and my palm...I'm not sure. I guess it's ovalish." She was still considering her thumb, though she was pretty sure it was on the longer end. Which was weird because she was a slower and more thoughtful person. She peeked at Sarah's hands and tried to size them up. "What do you think about yours?" she asked curiously.

Ella glanced up and smiled at the ickle badger. He was adorable and definitely reminded Ella of Caleb, her little brother. It made her miss him even more, actually. "Brilliant. We're pretty much experts at this palmistry thing," She said jokingly, letting his hand go. They were doing a good job, though.

"Asher Stinson. I won't forget that, promise." And she added that to her notes.

"Smooth palms, huh?" The sixteen year old said thoughtfully, staring at her hands. "I bet you're right about that." Seemed like a legit assumption to Ells.

Now that notes were done, Ella glanced at the first year and said, "Would you like to bring up the notes to Professor Elwood and I'll grab the materials for the next task?"

"I'll do it," Mo hopped out of his seat and scurried up to the front of the room. Yes, he was awfully obliging today, especially considering who his partner was. It didn't seem worth a fight, and Lex was behaving today...

So basically they were going to be just fine today, right? No arguing or getting off task or anything.

He grabbed the materials from the front of the classroom before bringing them back to Lex's desk. "Here y'go."

Professor Elwood had been double-checking the number of supplies she had stack on her desk and vaguely watching the students as they partnered up. They seemed to be doing the hand type identification rather well and it seemed like they were close to finishing and ready to move on. If not, they would need to hurry to catch up.

"Okay, I know not everyone has determined their partner's and their own hand types but if you could do that quickly either together or on your own along with listing two to three reasons why you've decided that on your parchment that would be great. Once you've done that grab the ink pad, rubber stamp pad, and a glass slab for yourself and your partner or if you don't have a partner one set for yourself. Be sure that each person has a glass slab."

Great did they all have those things? "What I'm going to have everyone do is read the hand that tells what the person was born with, meaning what characteristics that person had from a past life or by some divine power or maker." Or really any type of action that led to each of them being here today. "So we are going to make stamps of our hands by pushing the rubber pad into the ink, and then pressing our hands against the pad to ensure we don't have too much ink and then making an impression on the glass slab." The Professor took her hand, held up her bangles before pressing it onto the ink covered rubber pad. She then pressed it lightly to the glass slab for a few seconds before lifting it up to show them the perfectly left behind hand print.

"Everyone understand the process? If so how do we decide what hand tells us what we were born with? Well for males it is believed that the left hand is the born with hand and for females its the opposite meaning it would be the right hand." After she had dropped that bit of information on them she flicked her wand at the board and a picture of a hand appeared along with a numbered item:

"Once you've made your hand print I need you to interpret either your partner's heart line or if you don't have a partner or for some other reason wish to do your own hand, read your own heart line. Please record it on your parchment." Calista knew that it was a lot of directions all at once but she was positive that they were capable of following them correctly.

Nerida let out a sigh of relief yes she got a partner!! I'm Nerida Eventide by the way I don't think we have met yet." Yeah she was sure about it, she had never met the boy before. "So...Got any ideas on what type of hand you've got?" Because she was still trying to decide on hers. She looked down at the notes she wrote before taking a look at her hand.

"I am not sure about mine, cause my fingers are shorts but I don't know about the deep lines." She then held out her hand for him to see. Hopefully they could work together and sort it out. And also do the same for him. Hearing the Professor...Opps took her longer then she had expected to find a partner then.

Asher paused as the Professor gave further instructions. He turned to Ella, "I'll the supplies and take up our parchment." He jumped up, not wanting her to have to get up, and grabbed all the necessary items before taking them back to where Ella was. He was starting to get really interested in what they were doing.

After prepping the ink pad, he pressed his hand in it and placed it on the glass slab. "Now, it's your turn." Asher studied his hand print, focusing on the heart line. His was rather short, but started right under his index finger. It was straight, unbroken, and didn't touch any of the other lines on his hands.

"What does yours look like?" He asked as he started to write down the information about his heart line.

BLINK.

He was behind. Okay this was... not a good idea.

Trying his hardest not to panic, Alec sat up straight and tried to look over the heads of the students, trying to find someone who wasn't partnered up yet. They could still carry on with the first activity for a while, yeah? And then go on to that hand printing one. Because, let's face it, that hand printing one looked REALLY cool. And... kind of dangerous because of hair reasons. He did NOT want paint in his hair.

Hair!ruffle.

Shaking his head, he frowned and stood up. A feeling of mixed awkwardness and uncomfortable-ness settled in with the sixteen year old as he cleared his throat. Because this was going to be awkward. What if no-one wanted to--

"HULK!" ... Was that too loud? "Hulk, do you want to partner up?" Should he mention that he'd give her ice cream afterwards or...?

Lazy. Alice was it. And that meant moving was loads of effort for her, so she was just going to stay put until someone approached HER. That was okay, right? Someone eventually would? If no one did, she'd just make Scany be her partner- that was why she sat by him- but she didn't even need to, it seemed. "Sure, Superman. You want to figure out my hand type first?"

.. mostly because she hadn't taken notes and would just quickly jot his down while he wasn't looking. Alice stuck her hand out for him to take and grinned a toothy grin.

His turn.

SHE SAID YES!

... That... sounded different than it was meant to. Shuffle.

Nonetheless, Alec let a grin spread across his face and picked up his things before heading over towards the Gryffindor who... was sitting near someone else. The Slytherin dude that was going out with Penelope whose name Alec didn't really know.

But... Hulk. Alec sat down on an empty seat and opened his journal to the notes on the hand types. "Sure! Erm... just give me a minute..." He placed his hand underneath hers, his eyes occasionally flicking between the hand and the notes. It was probably a good thing they weren't observing lips or something. He really didn't want to imagine what West or Ells would say about that.

...

"I think you've got a Water-- ... no... wait..." Frown. "See, you have long fingers which, I guess, is good for holding onto your Beater's bat, yeah?" Was it? Or was he just talking gibberish? "So I guess that could be water or... or..." Pause. Observe. STARE... in a non creepy way.

"You've got an air hand! YEAH! Air... like Quidditch. Perfect!" Nodnod.

Notes. Seriously they took way to long to write and it was because of that, that Nessie was kinda behind with everything going on. But she had half heard what the Professor said and what she did know was that she needed a partner.

Maybe too late for that? Or was there someone not partnered? Hmmm.

The Hufflepuff scanned around the classroom with a pout, realizing how far behind she actually really was. She'd missed out a whole step and that really wasn't good considering the year she was in, but catch up. If she was fast at that she'd surely be fine...just not today, because she couldn't work at her own pace she needed someone to work with her.

So anyone was as slow as her and needed a partner? Anyone?

Tobias had been keeping quiet since his last answer had been so disastrously wrong. He'd been completely serious but noooooooooo it had been wrong. But that was fine. He'd been sitting staring at both of his hands since he'd answered that even through everyone else answering and then partnering up. Now he realised he was lagging behind. Oooooops.

Glancing around in a minor panic, worried that there would be nobody to partner up with, Tobias saw the Head Girl. Perfect; Nessie seemed to think he was cute AND she'd answered just like he had... so that was perfect.

Looking around all shiftily, Tobias picked up his parchment, ink and quill and then sloooooooowly began to sink lower in his chair. Soon the top of his head cleared the desk and he hand completely disappeared from sight.

A few seconds later Tobias appeared in the seat next to Renesmee this time rising up from under the desk until he was sat comfortably in the chair.

Master of stealth.

"Partner?" he piped up suddenly, giving the head girl a GRIN.

While he was examining her right hand, Alice started copying his notes down with her left one. Oblong.. what did oblong mean? These notes weren't even making much sense, but she jotted them on her parchment anyway, waiting patiently until he was done deciding on her hand type. "Air?" Long fingers were good for gripping lots of things. Broom handles, quaffles, snitches, bats.. eh. She'd take it.

Overturning their hands so his palm was on top, she began examining Alec's. "Your fingers are short.. ish.. your palm is kind of square.." That meant fire, right? But it wasn't longer than his fingers, so not fire. "And the lines on your hands are really heavy set.. oh, Earth. Like the ground Seekers usually crash into after Quidditch."

Encouraging.

Sarah was glad that she had a partner and examined her partners fingers. They did look like that. "well" said Sarah examining her fingers again... "my fingers were long" which made it great to play piano... "umm.. my palm is more squarish... well, it is definately not oval" maybe it was? she examined her palms again. "I think I have an air hand." she finally pronounced.


Sarah immidiately got up, "I will get the supplies for you!" she told Eliza and with quick strides returned moments later just as she said. "Do you know how to stamp?" she asked. Sarah had had a stamp set when she was younger... she used to use it when she played teacher-teacher or librarian-librarian. Stamps were awesome. THe last time she had used her body as a stamp was at some muggle official place or another where you made finger prints and afterwards thye gave you smelly things to wash it off.

"Air!" he said, nodding at her. He wasn't too confident on this but he wasn't going to tell her that. Who knows, maybe having an air hand helped with biting things too. He could see the connection. Maybe. "And if it's not that then... it might be water. But I don't think water and Beating go hand in hand." Oh HEY! Did he make a pun? Was that it? Is that how it's done? GRIN.

But now it was Hulk's turn to do the examining which meant that his creepy staring was over. Silently relieved of this little fact, Alec tilted his head and watched as the Gryffindor tried to determine what his hand type was. Hopefully she wouldn't be as confused as he had been about--

BLINK. Did she just say crash?!

"That's... nice. I hope this doesn't mean I'll crash after my next match..." Frown. "But I think that sounds right!" Apart from the crash bit. ... Moving on... "Now we just need to record this and... move onto the hand prints, yeah?" He was kind of glad he was working with Alice on this who knew how much he liked to care for his hair. It was an important thing to note when paint was around. Just saying.

BLINK. How had Tobias just poofed to sit next to her like that? He couldn't apparate yet, could he? And even if he could there wasn't a chance he could do that in Hogwarts. Sneaky little kiddo, but CUTE ADORABLE little kiddo. HIS CHEEKS. She was quite excitedly squeeling in her head, but nothing other than a smile showed on her face as she turned to give the boy a nod in greeting.

He wanted to partner up? Exactly what she needed. "Yeah, sure kiddo." She returned a smile to his grin. Did she mention he was adorable?

If they both were behind, which she assumed he was, they could both catch up. Buut what had the Professor said. She needed to repeat in her mind which was pretty difficult considering her attention was mostly on Tobias' cheeks. She wanted to pinch them. But nope. Divination first. She shook her head and focused.

"So, you want to write about my hands and I'll write about yours?" Seemed fair and she was kinda curious to see what cute things this ickle could say.

"Awesome!" Tobias responded cheerfully setting his notes and quill and ink down on the table so he was ready to write down what he needed to as soon as he was ready to do so. "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I dunno what mine is but I can probably work your one out."

Tobias had never really LOOKED at anyone else's hands before, so this was bound to be interesting. He held out his hand for Nessie to see and waited to see hers.

Mainly he was looking forward to the bit where they actually did the reading and stuff, but this seemed exciting too... he really wanted to know what kind of hand he hand. Toby gave the head girl a grin.

THAT HAND. So small and ickle and just *INER SQUEE* Working with ickles was just the best thing ever. Reminded Nessie a lot of her almost five year old brother at home. But his hand, what kind?

Hmmmm. They were small for sure, maybe a little squarish and his fingers they looked long, they looked almost around the same size as his palm...or maybe not, but they looked long. Air hand for sure. She scribbled that down on her parchment. Good thing for quidditch or she wouldn't have remembered his surname.

Whoops. She had forgotten he needed to see hers. Finishing off notes with her right hand, she gave him her left. He could see, yes? "Just try your best." Encouraging smile for you, Kiddo. She figured hers out earlier in the lesson, so she'd know if he was wrong or not, but her hand was almost a bigger yet girlier version of his.

It felt weeeeiirrrrrd having someone pay such close attention to him. Good weird. But still weird. He managed to hold back a giggle as she watched Ness examine his hand and then peeked as she wrote about it. When Nessie held out her hand, he peered at it.

It kind of looked slightly like his, except his hand was obviously smaller. And it was upside down from his point of view. But still...

Glancing at his notes about establishing hand types that he'd written earlier, Tobias quickly narrowed down, feeling all Sherlock-y and everything. Nice.

"Okay, I think I got it..." the Hufflepuff nodded, reaching for his notes and writing what he thought as quickly as he could before he forgot it. And he wrote her nickname but no big, right?

Finishing his last point, Tobias looked back at Nessie and grinned the grin that everyone seemed to love. "Okay, what did we have to do next?"

Punny. Alice offered him a small smile. "I haven't used a bat since the game against staff, though." She kind of preferred doing things with the quaffle to hitting bludgers, actually. Better ways to injure players had been found. Like biting. "Don't crash, you might mess up your hair." That was definitely a reason to be careful.

There were plenty of reasons why she adored Alec Summers, one being that ice cream was always present around him, but the one that was most evident today was that he was practically taking ALL of her notes for her. Did he know that? He'd actually only been obligated to write about her hand, not his, too, but she copied down his conclusions again without argument. Who was Alice to tell him he couldn't do classwork for her? That would be rude.

She made a few minor adjustments to his notes on her own parchment.

"We can grab ink and stuff now."

Lesson number one: Don't try to be funny. Especially when your name is Alec Blake Summers.

Alec grinned and ruffled his hair, secretly glad that they were talking about something Quidditch related. There were far more awkward conversation topics they could be talking about and the last thing he wanted to do was make this awkward. "Really? That's funny... Beating seems like your thing," Or was that more biting than beating? ... BLINK. Mess up his hair? "I'll try my hardest not to!" Especially since the state of his hair was involved.

So... they were done with that first task, yeah? See, they could get things done, even if they started late. "Awesome! Erm... I'll get the supplies then?" Gentlemanly-ness. He had that. Hopefully. The sixteen year old gave the Gryffindor a grin before heading up towards the front. He grabbed two of each of the items, grinned at the Professor because she had given them ice cream and headed back towards the brunette.

"I hope you like ink!"

Pause.

Worst. Second greeting. Ever.

Ella looked up at Professor Elwood and listened carefully to directions, scribbling what was written on the board down in her notes before looking over at Asher. She smiled a little when he jumped up, not given the chance to reply. That was nice of him to go for their things.

"Thanks for doing that," She said cheerfully when he returned, eyeing the materials curiously. The blonde was quite curious about her own heart line and eager to check it out.

After watching the first year stamp his hand on the glass, the blonde took her turn, prepping the ink pad first and then stamping her right hand. She pressed carefully down on the glass, wanting to get an accurate print so she could get a better reading.

Observing it carefully, she noted that her heart line started below the index finger and had small lines crossing through it. Hmm.

"Mine...looks like this," She announced, holding up her glass slab. "What about yours?"

He was going to get the supplies too? Alice grinned back at him elatedly and waited for Superman to show up back at the table with supplies. She was just going to marinate in this lazy feeling, okay? It was awesome. Alec Summers was awesome. It'd been decided.

.. ink?

"I.. guess?" He was still awesome, it was okay. "We can just both take our handprints and then you can read mine first?" Sounded good. She pressed her right hand against the ink covered rubber pad, squishing it around a little before lifting it and smushing it against the glass. Had that come out right? Alice pulled her hand off and examined the handprint, deciding it was fairly decent before waiting for him to do the same.

Actually.. while they had ink..

She stuck her finger on the pad again and made sure it was really inky before lifting it up and tracing lines on her cheekbones, like eye black.

Did she look awesome or what? Yep, Summers, she DID like ink.
