Default Divination Lesson One (Tasseomancy)

Divination Lesson One

The beginning of term was upon them and even though the first week or so had already passed and everyone was practically settled in, the first Divination lesson of the term had yet to happen. Today was the day though and the trapdoor to the classroom was open and the ladder was lowered.

Professor Elwood sat excitedly at her desk by the chalkboard awaiting the students. The room was set up like it usually was, a few seats around little tables among the risers; the windows opened up to allow what slight breeze there was to flow in. What other point was there to be in a tower classroom?

The cutbacks the rest of the Castle seemed to be having didn't seem to have effected this room, at least on the surface. Go ahead and take a seat while you wait for the Professor to start the lesson.

Lesson Progress:
* Lesson Begins and Question #1
* Answer to Q1 and Question #2
* Answer to Q2 and Beginning of activity

**The lesson has now STARTED. If you post your student entering now it will result in a POINTS LOSS. If you'd like to join, just rp your character as if they've been there the whole time.

Tasseomancy...

Nerida listened as she jotted down some notes. Three types of cups, Zodiac, Playing Card, and Symbol Cups. Putting her quill feather to her nose, Nerida slowly started to think, what was it. Remembering what a zodiac cup was, the blonde raised her hand and said These cups contain zodiacal and planetary symbols. The cup normally has planetary symbols, while the saucer has astrological sign symbols. The placement of these symbols allows the reader to combine astrology with the art of reading tea leaves...Tasseomancy.

Mika was LOOKING at him all funny, and Mo looked back with a little frown. And there was further footsie happening, and cute as that was, it was just NOT the time for flirting. Not in front of the pretty professor, and not when Mo was trying to defend her mum's honor and stuff. He shook his head at her. "Knock it off," he whispered before giving Kaiden a furtive glance.

Ahem. Professor Pretty was talking again, and he raised his hand. "The Playing Card cups are also sometimes known as the Cup of Knowledge. They have little cards printed on the surface so that readers can make the leap between Tasseomancy and and Cartomancy, which is a lot less subject to interpretation."

The blonde approached the chalkboard and wrote down a few things as she spoke. "Like many of you said the technical name for reading tea leaves is Tasseomancy or Tasseography, which we learned comes from the french word for teacup. Which makes a lot of sense because of the mediums we will be using." Nod, right? Everyone knew they would be using cups?

"Two other things I would like to elaborate on that a few of you mentioned is the fact that coffee and even wine can be used to do the same type of readings. Wine is by far the least used form of Tasseomancy, focusing mostly on the Italian peninsula and the Greek archipelago, but is rare in today's world. The coffee readings find their origins in the Middle East and were, mostly likely, the first form because of the evidence of cultural selective borrowing the early European civilizations had with Middle Easter trading societies." Whew...lot's of history there. "Reading with tea leaves in the way we are going it began in Medieval Europe with fortune tellers using molten metals, and eventually tea after trade with China began, to predict futures." That was the ancient history of it all. There were rarely many developments in this field because everyone tended to look to the past and continue doing it the same way.

"Someone brought up the point of the different types of cups that can be used when practicing Tasseomancy. There are three 'types' called the Zodiac, Playing card, and Symbol cups. Please pick one and tell me and the class a little bit about them." This information could be helpful.
Callie...Callie. No Callie? The look she had gotten from the woman after she had called her that didn't seem...to be er - what's the word - welcomed? Or something of that sort. Beezus cleared her throat, figured it wasn't really that good of a thing if she called the woman by her first name - it's not even really her first name, more like a nick - during class time so no.....nada...she'd stop calling her that. Right.

Not that it lessened her fondness for the Professor now. Or the subject. She, after all, passed her OWL on this one. She liked Divination now, what do you know?

History.

Lots of history was being talked about here. And the origins of this art. Surprisingly, Beezus was listening and she had even taken that information up seriously.

She have read over how Tasseomancy is practiced a few years ago. Back when they still had a centaur teaching them Divination. She'd gone over the subject because her classmates said that it was what they'll practicing the next day. Turns out, they were actually Moon Scrying. But, because she had read up on it.....it supplied her a fair decent knowledge about what Professor Elwood was talking about right now. So...kinda a blessing in disguise too.

She raised her hand up and answered, "The Playing card cups are one type, Professor Elwood. It is sometimes known as the Cup of Knowledge. As Alec have mentioned....it links Tasseomancy to Cartomancy." Alright. "These cups carry within their interiors tiny images of a deck of scattered cards, either 52 cards plus a joker, as in a poker deck, or 32 cards, as in a euchre deck." Oh, and let's not forget.... "Some sets also have a few cards imprinted on the saucers, or the saucers may contain brief written card interpretations." Will they be using those? She kinda hoped so.

So they would using tea. Sky had figured as much, but one could hope, right? And since there were only three different types of cups, everyone was already starting to repeat answers. So she just sat quietly and took notes.

Seriously.

Was there something wrong like a loose leg or something? She wondered – and as she glanced to see if any other odd things going on in the room her other table mate grabbed her attention. Well, sort of.

Her eyebrow arched on its own accord as she noticed Mo just staring lazily at Professor Elwood. Aw, that was cute…sort of, and sort of annoying. Why can’t a guy look at me like that? she felt herself think before squashing it down. Her eyebrow that had just returned to its normal position raised again as she noticed the look Mo had shot her. He was grinning at her – at least he wasn’t being all creepy and all that.

She was still a little weirded out that the moment she had thought about people looking at her one did. She would have to inquire about Mo’s latent psychic abilities later – because clearly, there was only one reason. He was obviously telepathic. She was certain of this.

Her eyes went momentarily large for a moment as she realized there were thoughts in her head that she didn’t want him to know she was thinking…like he had a really nice smile – and how Kaiden had bouncy hair…and she really liked his hair and both of their smiles.

Oh no.

Merlin.

He knew he must know!

She needed to dissuade those thoughts – but deep down she knew the most definitely telepathic boy would know she was lying. She was so bad at the lying thing she always thought about lying and lying to telepathic was impossible because of that. Her eyes had gotten bigger and bigger and bigger in her panic.

She only calmed down when Professor Elwood began to speak once more.

Professor Elwood had been listening to the students report their knowledge and quick research on the different types of cups that could be used in Tasseomancy.

Her attention was caught at the quick disappearance and then reappearance of West Odessa. Now he was waving his quill around. He must have just dropped it.

Before Elwood could go back to listening to the other students she noticed a bit of movement and hushed whispers going on at the table. "Excuse me, Miss Johanson, Mr. Yarborough, and Mr. Branxton. Is there something wrong?" She looked at the three briefly. If the movement was because one of them needed a drink of water or to use the restroom they could leave quietly and come back.

"If not, I'd like to continue the lesson." She looked at them one more time and went back to her lesson.

Huh. That made sense. Also? Ella really wanted some tea right now. Really really. Thirsty badger was thirsty.

Anyway, back to the lesson. Three types of tea cups and Ella was meant to explain one? She'd go with the Zodiac ones, she guessed. Raising her hand, she waited to be called on before speaking. "Professor, the Zodiac cups have the symbols of the planets and those of the zodiac. The inside of the cup has the planetary ones and the saucer part has the astrological ones." Mhm, it did. "I guess there are also variations of the pattern and where the symbols are located helps the reader combine the astrological stuff with the Tasseomancy stuff."

And that...was a lot of talking. She'd just listen quietly now, thanks.

Like those who enjoyed using things as a crutch. Yes...I've read my cup and saw only GOOD things...I must stop trying at life because everything awesome is just going to happen for me...It was rather ridiculous...because there WERE people like that.

Dylan shrugged, though, carrying on with his answer to the next question. "I like the zodiac cups, ma'am."...but only because he was a proud Gemini...and got into that stuff some. "The saucer has the symbols for the astrology aspect...like the animal or thing it represents...and the inside of the cup has those funky symbols that define the planet aspect."

When Elwood went into details about the words Tasseography and Tasseomancy she just smiled. That was awesome. Tea cup. No wonder it was such a cool word right? She thought as she just listened. She just leaned forward and began to scribble notes about wine and coffee readings – that was awesome right?

Raising her hand the girl decided to teach people about the Zodiac cups. ”Well, Zodiac cups are really interesting because they contain the planetary and zodiac symbols in the cup” she smiled. ”So painted in the cups would be the planetary symbols, and on the saucer you would find the astrological signs and symbols painted on – the symbols allows you to combine astrology into the art of reading the tea leaves.” she smiled.

She was proud about this wasn’t sure she’d gotten it all right but heck she was proud. Not to mention by the time she had finished describing the cup she had officially calmed down.

Overall this cup allows for the desired combination of astrology with tasseography."

An interesting cup for sure.

Let's not question it.

She flipped from page to page until she ran right into one of them. The symbol cup. "I'll just add to what my pseudo!sister Kat said. It does have the symbols on the inside, usually with anything from a dozen to fifty but they use the most common ones and they usually come with a booklet...I'm guessing for clarification I guess...?" She looked up at the Professor with eyes soaked in curiousity. "Is that the reason Professor? To make sure people don't misinterpret?" Seemed legit.

They're usually on the inside of the cup, but if you get 'em in sets, they can appear on the outside or the saucers." Did those ones relate to anything else, though, like how zodiac and playing ones were to Astrology and Cartomancy respectively?

No? "I think they just relate Tasseomancy to Tasseomancy, and not to any other special thing, because they just reference the best known symbols from this form of Divination." This cup was simple. Alice liked simple and not branching out and things like that. Easy was best, yeah?

Then he heard the other question the Professor asked the class. Kace remembered reading the symbol cups before class. "Professor i know a little info about Symbol Cups. The Symbols can be many things, including people, animals, and inanimate objects and they are usually inside the cups or saucers."

The symbol cup was a rather self-explanatory one but she was glad the students didn't shy away from it. "You all gave the Symbol cup its worth with your answers. Like the name suggests, these cups are decorated with between a dozen and fifty of the most common symbols that can be found in tea leaves, and like Miss Cambridge said are often supplied with an explanatory booklet. The symbols are also on the outside or inside the cups and on the saucers in some sets."

She nodded and continued. "The Symbol Cup is by far the easiest cup for beginner's to start with."

Yes, Sarah did think a saucer was used to catch falling tea and make it easier for Sarah to lap it up.

Playing card cups were kind of a funny subject seeing as the last lesson she had taught the previous term was on Tarot cards. "The Playing Card Cups or Cups of Knowledge." Callie smiled at Marcus and Beatrice, "are much the same as the symbol cups but instead have pictures of 52 cards plus a joker or 32 for a different type of deck. The card pictures also sometimes are place on the outside of the cups or on the saucer."

Different cups? West put his hand up.

"Can't you use a plain cup as well though? Like it doesn't have to have symbols or special signs on it or anything like that. I mean, in a way, isn't it the lazy way out to use one that has all the stuff on them already? Like, if people want to...." West paused, "... preserve the noble art, shouldn't they want to do it in like... its purest form? And let their inner eye see what its supposed to see in the dregs without being influenced by pretty pictures on china?" Another bright smile. Just a genuine question over here, professor.
"Excellent point Mr. Odessa." Callie had learned from having this particular Slytherin in her lessons that he was not always a fan of the Noble Art but he had a certain knack for bringing up very interesting and in this case extremely correct ones.

"Everyone, did you hear what Mr. Odessa just asked? He is wondering why we bother with these fancy cups with images displayed all over them when we are supposed to be focusing on the images left behind by the tea itself." She paused and looked around the room. "He is right. These other cups are helpful for certain readings but in my opinion and the opinion of many diviners, you will get the most accurate readings on your own with a plain cup." Elwood had already mentioned a few times the importance of reading one's own tea leaves rather than with a partner because they need to be concentrated on themselves, how was looking at images made by someone else any different than those other distractions?

"All these other cups are nice and fine in their own respect but we won't be dealing much with them today on account of the school's cut-back and the fact that...we don't have them." She threw up her hands causing her bangles to jingle loudly. Calista was obviously annoyed. "But this opportunity will allow us to start the subject with this clarity that a plain cup will give us."

The blonde Professor walked over to her desk and retrieved a box that was on the floor behind it. She raised it up and placed it on the desk's surface. "The cups we will be using today are ones supplied by the school on account of the selling of all the china." They surely have noticed by now all the dishes being gone, well it effected her stores too. She held one up to show them. They had been shrunk down to allow for the same amount of space as a normal tea cup and were charmed to not allow the students to be burned. "Because they are disposable I will be giving you the option of doing your reading today in a plain and clear cup or if you wish to make your own symbol cup, because if you do it yourself the distractions will be limited as opposed to a store made one, using the symbols in your textbook. Come on up and grab a cup for yourself and then either wait for further instructions if you plan to use a plain one or you may begin decorating and adding your symbols with your wand or quills." She waited by the cups for them to begin working.

OOC: The cups choice is up to you. If you chose to leave the cups be and do a 'plain cup' reading, just post grabbing your cup and then sitting back down having made the decision. If you plan on making your own cup then use any photo-editing or creating program to do so on a cup like this and include it in your post.

Well.

Heeeheeeh. He made a mental note to tell Theo about what he saw under that table because it was funny. It definitely was. But class was continuing. He listened carefully to the instructions and instantly had a question. Another one. Of course.

Hand up.

"Professor, won't the shape of these cups effect the reading though? Like that little edge bit in the bottom, it'll catch the tea leaves in it and also the material its made of, won't that effect how much stays in there as well? I mean, teacups have like a gradual sort of rounded shape in the bottom, I know we have to make do with what we have, but is there a way we can smooth out the inside of these cups?"

Beezus tilted her head towards the trio that had been called out by the Divination Professor, two of them are her chickadees. What in Merlin's name were they doing? They better not get into trouble.

When Professor Elwood spoke up again, the brunette turned her attention back to the woman and listened, even went about and took note of some important points she had mentioned about the types of cups used for Tasseomancy. She was half-expecting they were going to use Symbol Cups since it was the easiest one for beginners.

But no, they were going to use plain cups....to preserve the noble art of Divination in its purest form...as West Odessa had said it.

Okay, she was cool with that.

Plain china was still good, right? Porcelain and.....WHAT THE....

Beezus jaw DROPPED. They were utilizing red plastic cups? Because the school sold ALL the china? This. Was. Not. Happening.

But it was.

"Holy snitch." Seriously? They were using disposable plastic cups for their readings? It was preposterous. And it was making her head hurt.

She did, however, went up to the front and took out one from the box then quickly went back to her seat. She wasn't going to do anything with it. Heck, she didn't even want to laid eyes on it. It was frustrating her. And she was just getting annoyed again with the whole cutback thing and the fact that they were going through a lot of hassle because of it and most especially because the students were still not informed what had started this.....predicament.

So, Beezus sat there, waiting for her peers to retrieve their cups, for Professor Elwood to give them further instructions......with a frown.

That was a lot to know about tea reading stuff. Like, he thought it was mostly just drinking the tea and looking at things. But the cups were cool. Raising his hand he said. "Well, there is the symbols cup. They have twelve or more images inside that usually appear in the tea leaves. I think they can be decorated on the outside too."

Mika didn’t know what was going on. She of course wasn’t the one dealing with the foot nudging and had no idea what was going on. She just saw her friend frown and cross his arms like she didn’t even know what was going on.

He sat up again in a hurry and sort of waved his quill at the professor. Just dropped his quill. No big deal.

Ahem. Professor Pretty was talking again, and he raised his hand. "The Playing Card cups are also sometimes known as the Cup of Knowledge. They have little cards printed on the surface so that readers can make the leap between Tasseomancy and and Cartomancy, which is a lot less subject to interpretation."

What was with this? The girl just frowned, furrowed her eyebrows and then gasped. Oh no. She hadn’t done anything. How could she know off something that she hadn’t been doing? She just frowned and glanced at the table before muttering. “Oh gosh I was right he is telepathic…” because that was the only sane answer but on the off chance it was something else she whispered over to him.

”I’m not doing anything, just taking notes.” she pointed at her note book and leaned forward, as she did so she pulled her leg backward and looped it around the chair leg which was somewhat visible by the edge of the table.

SPOILER!!: Zodiac Cup Answers

"Good, yes the people who gave answers about the Zodiac cup are all correct." She started to tick off the things they said on the board as she reiterated them. "These sets do contain both zodiacal and planetary symbols. Like you said the interior of the cup contains the planetary symbols, while the saucer has the astrological sign symbols. Overall this cup allows for the desired combination of astrology with tasseography."

An interesting cup for sure.

SPOILER!!: Symbol Cups Answers

The symbol cup was a rather self-explanatory one but she was glad the students didn't shy away from it. "You all gave the Symbol cup its worth with your answers. Like the name suggests, these cups are decorated with between a dozen and fifty of the most common symbols that can be found in tea leaves, and like Miss Cambridge said are often supplied with an explanatory booklet. The symbols are also on the outside or inside the cups and on the saucers in some sets."

She nodded and continued. "The Symbol Cup is by far the easiest cup for beginner's to start with."

SPOILER!!: Playing Cards Cup Answers

Playing card cups were kind of a funny subject seeing as the last lesson she had taught the previous term was on Tarot cards. "The Playing Card Cups or Cups of Knowledge." Callie smiled at Marcus and Beatrice, "are much the same as the symbol cups but instead have pictures of 52 cards plus a joker or 32 for a different type of deck. The card pictures also sometimes are place on the outside of the cups or on the saucer."

When Professor Elwood spoke up though her face immediately reddened because she liked Professor Elwood. She just glanced at the table and her notes. She just muttered an apology and glanced in confusion at her tablemates – what had they done?

She was just glad points were not lost for the whisper wars. So they were using solo cups for class today. Wouldn’t they melt? And well, obviously that was accounted for right? She just sat there in silence and glanced at the cups. Finally when they had the chance to she got up and walked to where the cups were.

When she was up there she sent Professor Elwood an apologetic smile. “Sorry about earlier I honestly have no idea what was going on over there” it was the truth she was as confused as anyone could be in a time like this. “Thanks for the cup” she smiled as she grabbed a cup and practically skipped back to the table.

Back at the table she immediately sat down and began to work on finding the symbols she wanted to use. She just glanced though the book and couldn’t really decide what to use. So she glanced at the cup once more. She was too distractable today maybe, maybe she'd do the normal cup? She had no idea yet.

Sonea stared unbelievingly up at the professor, she had expecting so much from this lesson and now she discovered that this class had also been effected by the financial problems! “No way!” Said Sonea shocked while she looked at the teacher and next at the plastic cups. She didn’t liked it, but she understood it that the food was bad on Hogwarts, she also understood it that the things outside the classrooms where cheap, but she was NOT happy that she would work with cheap stuff inside the classroom! Her parents had paid for her to be here!

The young girl was still not happy with it, but she knew that it would be stupid to cause a scene not, in the middle of the class, also knowing that the teacher could do nothing about it, she was probably also frustrated with all those problems! And because Sonea had no cup for her own she had no choice and took a plastic cup out of the box and sat down again.

Blue EYED Pig!Girl, Mo, West and what's-his-face. SHUUUUSH. She was trying to further develop her education here and if you lot don't knot it off, she'd start throwing pieces of parchment at their heads. No joke. She already had little balls rolled up and ready to use as amo sitting on her desk.

Plastic cups?!

But that was laaaaame. Lamer than lame. China looked some much nicer and more Divination-ish. Ammiriiiiight or ammiriiiiight? Plus, West had a very valid point. But Blue got up and picked a red plastic one. It'd be easier to LIE about her images if no one else could see what the tealeaves were.

Kimothée Chalamet • The UWU Agenda • Once Baby, Now Trouble • All Growed Up

Kat was taking notes of whatever the others were saying. She was trying to make sure she wrote down everything she heard just as long as it was related to the topic they were discussing now. You know, stuff about the zodiac cup, the playing card cup, and the symbols cup. All written down neatly in her journal (although it was starting to get untidy because the answers were coming in fast). Once she was done writing them down, Kat placed it aside to listen to Professor Elwood.

PFFT. All the china gone. Honestly Kat didn't need to be reminded about that part, but okay then. She had far worse situations to handle, like the dirtiness in the Slytherin Common Room. Now that was something she wouldn't tolerate. She was definitely fine with the spork and the paper plates and that stuff, but you can never have an alternative to dust.

Anyway, the blonde went over to take a cup from in front and went back to her seat. Yeah, she was waiting for instructions. So they were going to read tea leaves from this cup? How... interesting.

Blink.

Mika was being weird with Mo, even she didn't miss that. No use threatening to smack her now--even if that is what she told her to do when she started being weird--because she was listening to the Professor talk about the cups and such. She was also too busy taking notes, see how that works? So yeah Mika, what Mo said, knock it off.

Lex dropped her quill and looked to the Professor...plastic cups again? She was starting to hate those things. They were always there, every meal and she had started to associate them with terrible cooking.

Now they were using them instead of regular tea cups. Would it still work the same...? Eh, you'll never know 'til you try.

She hopped up and did some small bouncing steps over to collect a cup. It got a funny eyed look from her before she headed back to her seat. Decorating...no. This was plenty good.

Yeah she couldn't say too much about either of the three types which was clearly because she didn't know much. Instead she remained quiet and took out some parchment to scribble a few things down, that she felt necessary. After that she just listened to everyone, including the professor and once again went back to scribbling. She stopped midway when she looked up to see what cups they'd be using for today.

Mellow. Plastic Cups. Just really? Frown. She was seriously concerned about the school's state but knew she couldn't do much besides help when she could...and not go to Bunz about it either...because that ended up being disastrous.

With her slight frown remaining she stood up picked up a cup and returned to her desk just looking at it. Yeah she was old enough to be over that decorating stage, she felt it wasn't necessary and she wasn't that arty either...well not with drawings that was.

Kommoto raised his eyebrows. This school was really failing, wasn't it? messy dorms, and a garage sale for the china. He gave a rueful half smile as he thought about it. "Welcome to Hogwarts, the only place where we'll promise you the moon, and give you Red Solo Cups." he said to no one in particular. He grabbed a red cup, and left the clear ones alone. Someone else could have those. He'd take the solo cup.
He took up his quill and began doodling on the cup. A sword and shield soon developed, and a staff came on soon. He continued doodling, until he was distracted by the professor giving more instructions.

Theo didn't notice what Mo, Mika and Kaiden were doing until the professor mentioned it to the class. He raised his eyebrow at them all, but wasn't really bothered at all. Trying to learn how to tell the future heeeeeeere....

He missed the next question, too, because this was just too hard. Thankfully, they were moving onto the activity now.

The Slytherin got to his feet and picked up a plain cup, then sat back down. He was a little bit confused as to which symbols he needed to decorate his cup with. Did it really matter? He started tapping the side of his cup and waited for further instruction.

They were using Red Solo Cups? They had no china? Kace heard from Belle they used china for future readings. He was really look forward to it but i guess the school was having issues right now.

Then he heard the professor explaining the types of readings you could do and then took notes on them all. He needed to learn as much as he could. He couldn't decided which activity to do...whether he wanted to draw or use a plain cup....

He eventually decided to get a plain cup. He wasn't a good artist and wanted to learn about the reading from the professor. He was still a newbie after all. He got up from his seat and got the plain cup and then went back to sit down and waited for instructions.

Minerva listened as they talked about each cup, it was super interesting. She was glad she had picked up that book over the summer, she might have to thank Ethan again for buying it later.

Listening as she talked about the cups, Min couldn't help but frown a bit. So all these weird things going on hit the divination cups as well. Well she couldn't say she was surprised. Disappointed...yes, but surprised.. no. Standing up she walked over and got one of these cups. She would take option A and do this in the plastic clear cup.

Decorating seemed fun, but she was never that great in art and this situation was starting to depress her a bit, so she just took her cup and sat back down waiting on further instructions.

Even their classes were being affected, Tag saw as he looked at the cups. He thought the classes wouldn't be affected, and just figured it would be with eating and getting into the common room. But, the problem seemed to be going further then that. Tag just shrugged at the cups. Sure, it was different from a usual class, but it wasn't as if cups like these were forgein to Tag. So, Tag went forth grabbed a plain cup, held it in his hands and went back to his seat and waited for further instructions.

Kaiden frowned over at Miks. She wasn't being very fun, and she was being weird with Mo. Actually, both of them were being odd, and he didn't even notice Odessa behind him. And then Mo was whispering, and even though he seemed to be talking to Miks, he felt the need to speak up, or well whisper back. "Not doing anything." at least nothing that concerned Mo. Right Miks? he thought nudging her foot once more. She did have a big foot though. That was weird.

The Profesor Lady was talking to them. Not about their answers, but their whispering and stuff. Quickly straightening and pulling his foot back, he shook his head. "Er, No, Ma'am." Nooothing to see here. He did jot down notes on each of the cup types. See, he was learning and doing class stuff. Plastic cups? seriously? What was wrong with this school? Getting up, he grabbed a cup and then dropped back into his seat, ignoring Miks and her apology. Looking at the cup in his hands, he shrugged and sat it down. He didn't feel like doing arts and crafts.

Anywhoo...

The blonde scribbled down some notes about cups and such before going up and grabbing one for herself. Deciding she wasn't much of a symbol drawer, Ells decided to leave hers plain and so she sat back down and drummed her fingers quietly on the table.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Scribble, scribble, scribble. Jory's hand practically flew over his book as he made notes about each of the cups. He looked up at the Cups Professor Elwood was indicating. He was disappointed they were not using fancier cups but a cup was a cup and it would get the work done if the Professor was comfortable using them.

The seventh year got up and took one of them before returning to his seat. He decided he would not decorate it. He wasn't very artistic anyway. Yup. This cup was fine just as it was.

Mo jumped significantly when he heard West's voice right behind them, and then Professor Pretty was there giving them the stink eye. HIM. THE STINK EYE. It was... well down on his list of most heartbreaking moments so far this year, but it was ONE OF THEM. He gazed up at the professor in confused distress before giving West an absolutely wounded look.

Why had he done that? Was it now his mission to make a public spectacle out of his dislike for Mo?

"Sorry, Professor. We're all jammed in here and someone keeps kicking me. It won't happen again." Because he was going to sit on his feet and not talk to anyone until the class was over and his future was Seen. Saw. Something.

”I’m not doing anything, just taking notes.” she pointed at her note book and leaned forward, as she did so she pulled her leg backward and looped it around the chair leg which was somewhat visible by the edge of the table.

When Professor Elwood spoke up though her face immediately reddened because she liked Professor Elwood. She just glanced at the table and her notes. She just muttered an apology and glanced in confusion at her tablemates – what had they done?

It seemed like decorating a cup would be a lot of bother, especially when he wasn't sure he wanted to use the guides provided on those cups. It would be better to do it the real way, with a plain cup. A plain plastic cup? Sigh.

He was about to rise when once again someone nudged his foot. Mika was looking all innocent, but that was enough. Why was she still trying to get his attention when they'd almost gotten into big enormous trouble? Mo shook his head at her and left to retrieve a cup without another word to Mika OR Kaiden.

He went with the clear plastic cup, figuring that it might be interesting to look at the sediment from all different angles. Heading back to the table, Mo passed by Mika and Kaiden and dropped down to sit with Blue. She looked serious about this class and he really REALLY didn't want to get into trouble.

curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog

Tucker had been taking notes quietly in the back, having decided that the best way to catch up in classes was probably to just sit and be quiet for a while until he felt like he was on the same playing field as everyone else. He let out a sigh though when he realized that they were using those tacky red cups to do readings with. If only he knew they needed cups, his mum had a ton of teacups left by his father before he died that he was sure needed a new home! Not like Gabi used them anyways. She was a coffee girl at heart.

Regardless, he walked up and grabbed the cup, deciding that it was probably best to just do a plain cup reading rather than draw fancy symbols on it. Plus he didn't want any ink getting in his tea or whatever. Gross.
