In the end north side of the street of Diagon Alley, sandwiched between Quality Quidditch Supplies and an intersecting alley that leads to Knockturn Alley, sits a small building made of light grey stones. A peal of small bells made of gold tinkle together in a rather quiet unison as the glass door of the shop opens and reveals the stationary supplies store, which is brightly lit thanks to the front glass window that allows sunlight to filter inside the shop. The smell of the store is a surprisingly pleasant combination of wood, old parchment, ink and, shockingly enough, scented candles.
Every single inch of the store seems to be crammed with shelves full of the artifacts sold at the shop, and though it might look and sound messy, the place is surprisingly organized, and whatever item that costumers might be looking for, can undoubtedly be found easily; rolls of parchment, stationery sets, quills made of the most unthinkable and exotic feathers, and every imaginable sort of decorative paper -– you think of it, and this store has it. Inks are the place's specialty, and as such, here you'll find ink of every colour and style that you could possibly imagine.
Behind the tall and smooth wooden counter, the shopkeeper can normally be found. With a frown on his forehead, the shopkeeper is usually busy sorting through piles of parchment, which would be stock orders, bills, magazines, or just plain letters that have been addressed to him. This is the place where you come if you are in need of help, or to pay for the items you wish to acquire at Scribbulus Writing Implements.

He really should have stopped in here more than once in his six years at Hogwarts and then he may know where the ink was. Patrick turned hearing a familiar voice, "Hey Maeve!" He laughed a bit at her question. She remembered that he often went back to his grandparents. WOW. "Uh yeah, been spending a bit more time with my parents since the cup is going on this summer. I do have to head back next week for a bit."shut up shut up shut up Patrick
Wait there was stationary designing? He wasn't sure what that entailed but he figured it might be fun. "Well I was looking for some ink, but stationary doesn't sound bad, my mom might like some..." he laughed.

Maybe it had been to soon to be out and about like she said, but Chloe just wanted to be out of the house so she just smiled at him, "England now that Germany isn't in it." Not that they ever had a chance, since it was obvious they didn't even make the final 16.
Hearing a smaller voice ask her about painting she looked over and smiled, "What are you painting?" Maybe that wouldn't be a hard task for her to do. Though before she could get an answer the door opened and a very familiar person walked in. Chloe put her head down feeling extra self-conscious, "Hey Keenan, how's summer going?" She had gotten over her crush, but it still didn't mean she wanted to look cute in front of the boys at school, plus what if she forgot something so simple like she had been doing since the bludger.
Keeping half an eye on Avalon, and the other half of his eye on the door meant he hopefully saw everything. And he did. "Hello there Sir. Would you like to decorate some stationary?" he asked, as the young man walked in. Otherwise, yes, he was there to supply all of the school things.
"I'm just making my own design on this sticker," she said, holding the plain white sticker up. "In Nigerian and German colours. And maybe one in purple," she grinned. "I like the glittery paints. What do you want to make?" She knew all of the things they could make, because she helped her Daddy set it up. So she could explain it all if anyone needed help. And then Avalon spotted a boy joining the girl she was talking to. Maybe they were friends at the school Avalon wasn't allowed to go to yet. But in three years she was going to go and she couldn't wait. She already read the first few pages of Hogwarts, A History, but she wanted to experience it for herself. "Are you doing some painting?" she asked the boy.

Ray saw the door open again, admitting another young man. Slightly older, and he appeared to be looking for something. "Hello, might I help you with something?" he asked.

Putting aside, for the moment, the daunting realization that, just as she was beginning to master the pencil, Aoife was going to have to learn to sketch not only in ink, but with a quill instead of a pen, where was the magic? Where were the coloured pencils enchanted to never dull? Where were the old looking tomes of blank paper, that would never fill up so she could spend her life sketching and jotting down ideas and never reach the end? For that matter, where were the non-magical old looking tomes. They had those in the dark ages, didn't they? Parchment was grand for homework, but for sketching, Aoife preferred a book, and she preferred gorgeous journals and sketch books that were works of art unto themselves over store bought cardboard back eyesores. The kind you find on Etsy that are quare expensive.
She could sell Mam on a pricey, but gorgeous leather bound tome if it was enchanted to never run out of pages...

Yet, there was something oddly satisfying about the way doodles looked with various muggle pens that you just couldn’t get with quills and ink.
Picking up a brown leather notebook, he quickly flipped through it checking the quality of the paper before adding it to the growing collection of things in his arms. This in its self was a strange feeling. Having the ability to shop for whatever he wanted without worry for the cost was something that he’d long forgotten so to be able to now, after all this time, was a bizarre sensation. And yet, here he was, arms full of writing utensils and a notebook, ready for his new start in a different country across the sea.
Turning to purchase his items, he couldn’t help but stop as he noticed a younger black-haired girl looking somewhat lost in her own thoughts. Hesitantly, he walked over deciding to check if she was okay. After all, she was quite young to be in here on her own. “Uh... Excuse me, are you okay? Can I help you with something?” he asked in a quiet, warm voice, not wanting to startle the poor girl.
Looking up as the door opened, Ray saw a young lady, and moments later, a young man walk in. He was just finishing adding a drop of ink to a custom order mix, about to ask if she needed assistance, when the young man got there first. He smiled to himself, knowing that indeed there were helpful people out there. Adding the lid and swirling the ink gently to mix the colours, he then set it back into the cabinet behind the desk and headed over to the two. "Hello there," he greeted, "is there anything I can help either of you with? We are running an event at the moment if you would like to design some of your own stationary." It might appeal to the younger kids mostly, until the older students realised that it wasn't just bold, bright paints, and messy glued papers. There was enough to satisfy all ages.

Heart heavy, Odaline was not going to be able to purchase any of the leisurely items that she wanted for school. But it didn't mean that she couldn't look at them and it definitely didn't mean that she couldn't take them without asking and without paying. If she was quick enough and able enough. Just a quill or three and some ink. It wasn't much.
But if she ended up scraping coins together for food until September 1st, then she did not have the money to spend on these things.
Turning to purchase his items, he couldn’t help but stop as he noticed a younger black-haired girl looking somewhat lost in her own thoughts. It took Aoife a moment of awkward pause to realize the weirdly concerned voice behind was, in fact addressing her and not some scared babby as the tone of his voice would suggest. She turned, slowly, looking back over her shoulder at the speaker, confirming it was her this muppet was speaking to. Aoife scrunched her eyes slightly, as if to ask Are you an idiot? You could count the years older than her this lad was on a single hand.
"I'm fine, t'anks. Grand." She set the bottle of ink she'd been looking over back on the shelf without looking back. Before her hand fully left it, she felt it teeter on the edge, before falling forward, and in a start managed to catch the bottle just as it slipped over the edge. Aoife returned the bottle more securely on the shelf. "All good, see?" It was half for the boy's benefit, half for the shopkeep that was making his way over.
She turned to the shopkeeper, about to say the same response she gave the boy, but stopped. "I was curious if you have any fancy leather journals t'at might look as if t'ey were some old tome? Preferably unlined pages, and possibly enchanted to never run out, no matter how many pages you fill up?"

Ooops??? She kind of had quite the memory when it came to certain people whom she crushed on. Ah, the cup - it was all ANYONE was talking about and honestly, while she LOVED to go to the games at Hogwarts because of Emma and Anna and Chase and Patrick and Beth, to name a few, she couldn't really care less about the games themselves. Truth be told, she found it rather boring to watch, but she liked to support her friends and they did give inspiration for some art pieces.
"Ah bummer. I'm not going abroad this summer," she said quietly, biting at her lower lip. "My aunt ... I guess had some sort of emergency? She wasn't there when I got home but she said the flat was paid for through the end of the year so at least I got that?" Guess she figured since she was sixteen now or something. But hey, she had a whoooleee flat to herself, which even though it was only two bedrooms it was still kinda nice. "They had a sign. Stationary designing for the quidditch cup --" oh and there was the shopkeeper.
Nodding at him, "Yes please. Is it a contest or ..." Just curious how it worked?

Smiling at Maeve he realized that she was an occasional watcher of quidditch but he remembered she said she didn’t like watching. His smile faded as he heard she wasn’t going abroad at all. He thought he remembered her saying how excited she was to go spend the summer with her Aunt. He was lucky that his grandparents and parents let him float between their two families. “I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t end up going with her. I’d have been spooked if I came home to an empty house.”
His parents let him do what ever he wanted for the most part now that he was almost 17. He was way more mature than his brothers at this age. “At least you can do what you want?” he said trying to find the silver lining but knew that it wasn’t enough. He smiled weakly, “If you ever want a homecooked meal or some company you’re always welcome at my house. I think I’m kind of worrying my parents with how many friends don’t come over to our house.” He laughed knowing it was not funny at all.
Turning to the shopkeeper, “Oh can you point me in the direction of the inks and I’ll participate in the stationary stuff with her then find the inks I need.” he smiled politely as he answered.

Oh, he was just in for regular stuff, well that was alright she guessed, but wouldn't it be more fun to have interesting things? Maybe it wasn't and she'd be the only one in school with her own made stationary, Chloe thought about this for a moment and her thoughts were jumbled which started to frustrater her so she just looked at Keenan when he spoke, "It's been alright, had a bit of an accident at the U17 game a few weeks ago so I've been on the mend since." No, big deal, at least she wouldn't play it as one. "What have you been doing that has made it so busy?" She hoped it was at least something exciting.
Hearin the younger girl say about German colors did catch her attention though and she looked between Keenan and her before smiling and grabbing his arm. "Come on let's entertain her for a bit. " She looked at the younger girl again before sitting near her, "We'll paint with you. I'd like to have something neat to take back to school, especially if it has German colors. Maybe Keenan could make us something fun too."
Giving him a grin she hoped he'd be a good sport about it.

When she mentioned about getting an accident, his expression turned and showed a worry. Goodness, that's why he's not a fan of sport especially Quidditch. "Oh, I hope it wasn't serious." That's the only thing he could say. She seemed good now, though. Probably it had been resolved. When Chloe asked about what kept him busy this summer, the fifteen year-old just laughed bitterly. "I have work at my father's restaurant." And it was NOT fun seriously. The only thing that he enjoyed was getting paid and probably did hang out with several fellow kitchen crew members who all of them were older than him.
Keenan didn't say any word when the younger Ravenclaw grabbed his hand and mentioned about entertaining the shopkeeper's girl for a while. Well, he wasn't that busy though but this was his only day-off this week and probably would be available to shop for school supplies sometime later. "Okay." Eventually he agreed on her idea, it wouldn't be that long he hoped. There were some other things he needed to get and also he wanted to hang out reading at Flourish and Blotts.

She grinned when he agreed to sit and paint, she might be over the crush, but she still liked Keenan and was glad to hangout with him. As for the quidditch accident she just shrugged, "It was bad, but I'm healing. Magic can fix up bones pretty quick. Most of the ones in my face healed quick, it's just a concussion that has been taking its time healing." She felt kind of dumb talking about it since she felt like it was kind of her fault for getting distracted, even though she did think it was the snitch at the time.
"Oh your dad doe that too? My mum has me help teach some of the summer camps at her dance studio, but I don't have to this year because of getting hurt. I'm just basically at my house. She let me come out here for an hour since she had to make the trip for some things." Being in Germany they didn't come this way often, but she was hoping she'd be here all summer now she was saying maybe next summer.
Starting to design her notebook she grabbed the colors. "Are you going to the World Cup?" She knew he wasn't into sports much, but everyone was going at least she thought they were so she hoped maybe he would.

Ray smiled with a nod. At this young man's age, Ray was into calligraphy and mixing inks, creating special blends. But he knew he was the anomaly. But he was here for school supplies of which there were many! Taking a mental inventory of what he asked for, he went off to get the items requested; Standard parchment - a dozen, Standard Quills - five, Black ink - one. He wrapped the ink in some tissue paper, and bundled the quills together in another roll of paper, before storing them in a paper bag. "That comes to 1 Galleon, 13 Sickles, and 24 Knuts," he tallied on the register.
Dipping her paintbrush into the water to wet it because that made the paint slide easier, Avalon dunked it into the yellow paint and did a wavy line on the bottom third of her sticker. She was going to start with the lighter colours because she knew her dad got a bit upset when she mixed dark colours in with the light ones.
She offered a happy smile to the girl who wanted to paint as well. "What's your names?" she asked the two older kids. She wasn't paying much attention to there talking about jobs and summer holidays, because Avalon didn't understand. But her ears perked up at mention of the under 17 team. "Do you play quidditch? for Germany?" she asked the girl, awe in her eyes.

But if she ended up scraping coins together for food until September 1st, then she did not have the money to spend on these things.
But oh... how she wanted them...
Seeing another young student, but still not sure whether she would be from England or not, Ray headed over towards her. "Hello Madam, is there something I can help you with today? We have some stationary designing activities in the back room if you would like to design some of your school things." He was going to be offering everyone, even adults because craft design had no age limits, really.

Turning to the shopkeeper, “Oh can you point me in the direction of the inks and I’ll participate in the stationary stuff with her then find the inks I need.” he smiled politely as he answered.
Ray shook his head and said "It's not a contest, no." But he realised he missed an opportunity to host a contest. "It's just a little event we're hosting for people to have a go at designing some things the way they want them. Rather than ordering in notebooks and inks in already made styles, we're letting people do it themselves."
And about the inks, Ray gestured the area of the wall with the inks lining it. "Just over there Sir. And if there's any other colours or blends that aren't there that you would like, we can mix some for you. Unless you want to have a go at mixing them yourself over there," gesturing the design area. But the standard coloured inks were all there, along with a whole assortment of other types of inks.

Aoife's face lit up. It didn't matter that those journals weren't offered yet, because he had clearly liked the idea and was going to make it happen! She nodded furiously. "I will! And I can owl you any new ideas t'at I get?" Aoife always had ideas. Always. And she was willing to share with anyone that could make them a reality.
A small astonished gasp escaped her as the various leather journals floated over. She knew magic was real, of course she did, she was just after getting her own wand, but that didn't mean she was used to seeing it much at all. And so, the sight of any sort of magic amazed her still with no end in sight. "T'at's...t'at's..." She pulled her wits about her finally and after a small hesitation, plucked the largest of them from the air. "T'is one will do." She glanced over to the design area then back at the shopkeeper and added, poignantly, "For now."
There was only one more matter to discuss. "Em...I've never used quills before. And..." She dropped her voice a little, "I don't know if I can use t'em. I'm a leftie...and, em, wet ink and all...my brother keeps telling me I will fail because my assignments will be smeared and unreadable..." She glanced up at the shopkeeper with pleading eyes. Surely, she couldn't be the only left-handed witch.

Ray noticed the young lady's face lighting up. "Say... are you heading into your first year?" he asked. He was sure his awe at magic had disappeared after being at Hogwarts for a few weeks. He nodded, one firm nod, "I would appreciate your input." Certainly, considering she had given him the idea. "What is your name Madam? I'm Ray." Since they were consulting on a fantastic idea, they might as well know names.
Pleased that she was happy with the selection of leather notebooks, he magicked the rest back to their positions. He listened with a serious ear to her concerns and nodded. "Well we sell muggle pens if you'd like to take some of those, just in case. But I can show you how to use a quill and not smudge it." He headed over to the area where he kept the quills and inks, and from them he plucked a standard quill and a rigid nib, which he swapped over on the quill. "Left handers need a more rigid nib, because of the way you write the prongs would tend to open up more easy and spill the ink. A rigid one will prevent this." He unscrewed some standard black ink and dipped it into the jar.
"However you usually write can easily be adapted to prevent all that smudging. If you position yourself wrist over the top, or underneath, it's okay. You just want to train yourself out of dragging your hand over your writing if you do that normally." And some people did, he knew. He was right handed, so showing her some of the techniques felt a bit awkward. He positioned his arm over the top of the work, writing across the page and keeping all contact clear from dragging over the ink. He positioned it underneath, which kept everything clear from dragging. Then he demonstrated the different angles of the paper, showing how it could be ever so slightly tilted either way, or tilted so that he was writing vertically, both up and down depending on whether the wrist was positioned on top of underneath. When he was done he emptied the ink from the nib and passed it across to her. "You try now. Dip it into the ink and have a play. Don't worry if you smudge, we can clean that up."

"Okay." He handed 2 galleons to the shopkeeper. "Can I keep them here for a while? Looks like we're going to hang out with your daughter." Keenan didn't mind hanging out with little girls because he had a little sister and he loves Kiara. So yeah, he's used to it even though his little sister had grown a bit and shared different interests with him.
The Ravenclaw turned to Chloe and tried to manage his straight face when she talked about her injuries. Concussion, blergh. It sounded quite painful and not fun at all. "Ah, I see. But at least you're healed now." Because his fellow Ravenclaw looked good and all healed. "Just started this year, actually." The work, he meant. "He said I should do that for life experience, or something like that." Perhaps his father wanted to say how the world is cruel and he had to work his butt off to earn something, even though he hated it. Thanks for the life lesson, Dad.
When she brought up whether or not his family would see the match, Keenan just shrugged. Ava did ask them about this because she could get them tickets, but he was not a fan of Quidditch, and crowds. "Probably not." He still had works to do and even if it was his day off, he probably would rather to spend it by finishing his Millennium Falcon Lego or reading.
"I'm Keenan, and this is my friend Chloe." He said introducing himself and Chloe's. "What's your name? And what are you painting here?"

She grinned at that. "Yes, I suppose I could do what I want. I mean it's different from being only eight years old without a parent or guardian. I'm sixteen now and I guess... she trusts me." She nodded. "I'd like that. And if you want to like ... come by some time... It's pretty much reallll close to the water which is amazing in the summertime." Even with the chilly English weather, it still got warm enough to enjoy the beach.
Glancing back at the shopkeeper, she nodded. "Oh, okay. That'd be nice." She could use a new sketchpad and having one be personalized would be rather nice.

Ray processed the order, and paper-clipped the receipt to the bag, a warm smile spreading on his face. "I certainly can, Sir."
Avalon listened to their names. "Hi Keenan and Chloe," she said. If she said their name out loud it meant she'd remember it. That was a trick she learnt from her mum. "I'm Avalon."
She looked at the sticker she was painting, and dunked her paintbrush in the water to clear it of yellow paint before adding red. "I'm making a sticker of the German flag because my mum is from Germany, and I'm going to do a Nigerian flag because my dad is from there, and then I want to do a purple one because I like purple." She painted a red stripe in the middle of her sticker, making it bold, before once again cleaning the brush in the water and adding black. "Are you going to do something? It doesn't have to be Quidditch related."

Ray showed the young man and lady to the design area, indicating all the craft supplies and plain stationary they had there. "If you want help with colour changing charms, or any other little spells I'm here to help. But you might not need any help, of course." He wasn't good at guessing ages but they certainly didn't look like they were just starting school. But perhaps they were still under seventeen.

Ray had been almost startled by this young lady's reaction. He raised his hands up in a similar fashion to her, and said "Hi," not knowing if she was... waving?
But seeing the nod, he smiled and indicated towards the back with his head, hoping she would follow him. "We have a lot of plain things. Notebooks, stickers, parchment, stamps and the sort. You can decorate those with paints, or ink, coloured paper, glitter... well, whatever you like really. Or we can help you mix some inks together to make a custom colour. It's all in celebration of the Quidditch World Cup!"

Sighing as she walked in she knew that she needed to find some new ink for her receipts and some sealing wax for when she sent out her orders. She glanced around collecting her bearings about her. Looking left, then right, she tossed her hair over her shoulder and took off toward the left wall. First task was to grab the ink. "Everlasting ink....everlasting ink" she kept mumbling under her breath as if she would suddenly forget the two things on her list.
Pursing her lipstick covered lips she began looking for the Everlasting ink. After spotting the pot she began looking for a coral ink to write on her black item lists for mailed orders. She had to keep everything on brand. She kept looking around for the coral afraid that she would have to stop the shopkeeper just to ask.

It was all a bit quiet once Hogwarts went back. So it was ever so nice to hear the bell tinkle as someone walked in. Having put down a quill he was using to write the custom-made business cards, he saw that the customer had already picked something up. "Good day there Ma'am. Might I be of any assistance?" he asked.

If there was one things Ellura always seemed to need was new writing implements. Whether it was loosing a quill or abusing it with her writing, it seemed one of her most common stops within Diagon Alley outside of the Prophet headquarters...and maybe the Leaky with an interviewee...was Scribbulus. Today was no different, the reporter stepping into the very familiar shop to look around. Sure she had her favorites, but that didn't keep her from wandering around a little in curiousity. One never knew if she might find something interesting or new.
OOoo...definitely some of that tealish colored ink. For personal use of course.

Victoria turned at the voice of the shopkeeper. Smiling even though she felt terrible asking for help finding the color she needed she knew she'd rather have people ask her questions at Malkin's. So she took a deep breath, "I'm looking for a coral ink that will work well on black paper if you have any."
If there was one thing Tori did not want to be it was a nuisance. She would hate to bother the shopkeeper and keep them from doing their job. She knew how busy their jobs could be and didn't want to cause trouble. But.... She really wanted to have that coral ink because sending it from her spot in the States would be ridiculously hard.
Her head whipped around when she heard the door jingle and another came into the shop. She wondered what exactly they were looking for. They looked way more comfortable in the shop than she felt she looked.

"Hmm," Ray said, pulling a hand to his chin which he stroked in thought. "Hmm. I do not have any ready made coral ink that would write on black paper. But..." he paused to head back to the counter where he pulled out a few things; white ink, orange and pink, glittery inks, and black parchment, with one of his trusty quills. "Do you want it to have a glittery sheen to it or would you rather a plain coral?" He got out a few glass dipping jars and dabbed a few combinations of the inks into each pot, then mixed it gently with a little metal stirrer.
With his quill, he dipped it in the first one and wrote on the black parchment. The white allowed it to show up, whilst the mixes of oranges and pinks changed it to a bit more of a coral colour. The first one showed up well, but the second needed a bit more white, and then some more of the orange to make it show up nicely. The third one had a shimmer to it. "They all seem to hold up fairly well in this instance. Would you like to have a play with them and see if you want any darker, or lighter?" Perhaps this dear customer didn't know this, but mixing inks was one of Ray's passions.

The bell tinkled again as another customer headed in. He gave his current customer a quick nod, excusing himself, before heading over to her. "Good day Ma'am. Is there something I might be able to help you with today?" he asked.

Tori watched as he moved behind the counter and started grabbing pots and such. She was so captivated she almost forgot to answer him when he asked about a glittery sheen. "I'm not opposed to a glittery sheen," she trailed off amazed at what he was doing.
Her eyes lit up as he showed her the mixtures. They were all so pretty how would she ever choose just one to use. A small gasp escaped her lips, "Oh? Can I?" she asked quietly, "it wouldn't be too much trouble would it?" she would absolutely hate to be a bother. But, she just loved inks and writing and couldn't pass up the chance to play with custom made inks.

Ray felt quite complimented by her enthusiasm. Yes, seeing the customers enjoy inks just as much as he did was a very nice feeling. None of these muggle inventions, the keypads and such, although he did enjoy a good tapping session at a typewriter. But he preferred the feel of a good quill with quality ink. It was partly why he hand wrote everything. He got out some different tester quills, and more black paper for her to try, just in case she ran out of room. "Have as long a play as you like. We can tweak the ratios until you think they're perfect." His goal in this shop was for customers to leave feeling happy with their purchases. No, not just happy. Ecstatic. Excited! Yes, excited to get home, rip into the packaging and try out their stationary.
"Our custom inks are 8 sickles and 13 knuts, but they also come with a six month warranty in case the mixes don't hold up." Most of them did, the vast majority. But there were the very rare mixes that just didn't seem to stay mixed very well.
