Default Rules & Expectations

Professor's Promise to Students (OOC):
Hi guys! I'm Alayna. I RP Sabel Dakest, your DADA Professor!

Please make sure you take the time to read the following rules. I know they're a little wordy, but they are important. They are here to make sure that we are all on the same page, and can have the utmost amount of fun without too many hiccups or drama.

I thought I'd start the rule thread with a quick little promise/disclaimer to you all, so that you know where I as the author behind Sabel, is coming from.

I'm really excited to be able to RP with each of you, and I will do my absolute best to do so with everyone that shows up for DADA. Please do understand however, that I work full time and have a busy schedule, so you may have to be patient with me while waiting for responses. If I happen to miss you (as I am hardly perfect and make mistakes), please do not take it personally. Just PM or VM me, let me know, and I will fix it :-)

The sole purpose of this class, and the SS RP is to have fun! So let's do so, yes? Keep in mind, however, that all site rules apply and SS is family friendly, so be respectful of others that are on site. If you have questions about the rules, please ask myself or another mod. None of us are scary, promise .

While having fun, please do remember that Sabel is not me, and I am not Sabel. He may react harshly or strictly or be ubber happy, but it is all IC and not reflective of me (Alayna). I will not bring any personal issues, or favoritism, to the RP table. IC and OOC matters will be kept separate and handled separately. Please do not criss-cross them in your lovely brains either. If you are concerned about something, please do not hesitate to bring it to my attention right away. Please, don't stew. Stewing is no fun.

That all being said, have a quick read, ask any questions and have fun!!!
Both Sabel and I look forward to interacting with you all :-)
~Alayna

Text Cut: Classroom Rules from Professor Dakest (IC)

DADA Classroom Rules:
- First and foremost, be courteous and respectful. Respect what we are here to learn, respect yourself, others and magic.

- Do NOT take risks. Risks have consequences. There's a reason you must sign a waver to attend this class, and it's not for permission to pull stupid stunts or show off.

- Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT use any Unforgivables in my classroom. NO exceptions.

- Safety is key. Always be safe.

- Do NOT start practicing until I give you the go-ahead.

- Be punctual.

- Don't speak out of turn. Hand raising is preferred. Loud, screeching noises are only appreciated in life-or-death situations.

- Don't pick fights. There are school grounds for that if you must.

- Pranks will be returned in kind. I have my ways of finding out who-dun-it, and ways of returning the 'favors'. Word of advice, don't do it.

- Food is a choking hazard in this classroom. Leave it outside in the hallway, or donate it to Professor Quigley the next floor up. (And no, chocolate doesn't help with casting a patronus charm).

- Wear comfortable, practical clothing. I'm not fond of robes, and you'll rarely see me in them, so I don't expect the same of you. If you like robes, all the power to you.

- If you break something, don't fret. It can be fixed. If you dislodge some stone from the wall, I hear Professor Flamsteed is running short on his rock collection. Donations will be collected at the door.

- Try your best and do your best. I don't expect perfection.

- Lend a helping hand. Teamwork has it's rewards.

- I like questions, and rarely consider anything a stupid question. That being said, be mindful of the questions you ask. If you have burning questions about Aurors, Dark Wizards or the best sticking charm to glue someone to a chair, I have an office for that. Please make use of it.

- Read and abide by all classroom and school rules. Pretty simple.

- You've got two strikes. I'm not telling you what they are or how they work.

- Most importantly, don't die.

Text Cut: Rules from Tazenhani (OOC)

General Rules from Tazenhani (OOC):
- All SS RPG Rules and SS Rules apply at ALL TIMES. If you have questions about any of the rules, please ASK. I'm not scary, I swear :-)

- Please understand that Sabel is IC and simply a character, and while I (Alayna) am the author, I am NOT him. Please don't confuse the two of us, or IC versus OOC consequences. If you have concerns, please come speak with me (via PM).

- Please do not edit your posts unless you are told by a Professor or a mod. Proof-read and consider your post, before submitting it. I'll know if you did edit, and you are unlikely to earn any brownie points for content editing (minor format changes are fine). If you are concerned about your post and you REALLY feel you have to edit it, please PM me. This will only be considered in extenuating circumstances, so please do NOT abuse this. :-)

- Please be original with your posts, and don't copy-paste answers from the internet/anywhere else. It is taking someone else's hard-done work as your own. Be original :-)

- Don't feel you have to get every answer right or do everything perfectly. Be realistic, and please don't god-mod. Like the rest of SS, DADA is about having fun, and exploring the strengths AND weaknesses of your character, not about being amazepants at absolutely everything.

- I enjoy unique, creative answers very much. So have FUN!

- Do NOT RP the effects of a spell on another student/character. It is fine to RP a spell leaving a wand, but it's effect and whether or not it hits the other student is up to them.

- It's true, injury may happen in this classroom. But posts of excessive violence or gore will NOT be tolerated, as per site Rules. Also, the ONLY 'weapon' you are allowed in this classroom is your wand. No exceptions. Posts breaching these two simple rules will be immediately removed.

- Feel free to jump into the lesson at any time! If it's already started, and you are late, just hop on in with the current activity as if you've been there the whole time. Please don't RP your character walking into class late, otherwise IC consequences will follow.

- Most importantly, remember that this is a game, don't get stressed or worked up about the homework or the assignments. We are all here to have fun. :-)

- If you have any questions, just ask me. I'm more than happy to answer them :-)

Text Cut: Homework & Assignments

Homework & Assignments
Any homework and assignments will be posted at the end of class, as well as up on the Noticeboard.

Both are OPTIONAL, and there is no penalty for not doing them. House points will be awarded based on effort, creativity, uniqueness and to some extent correctness (depending on the context of the assignment/homework).

Even if you have half-completed homework, feel free to send it in. You won't get full points, but you will still get something :-)

Please submit all assignments/homework by PM to me, Tazenhani, before the deadline. I will take homework up to an hour past the deadline (as I know the internet can be a fickle thing), but anything later will not be accepted.

When submitting your homework, please ensure you follow the guidelines below:
  • Title your PM with the Subject, Class (and number), and Student Name
    • i.e. DADA Homework #1 - Mary Lou
  • Include the following information at the top of your PM, BEFORE the homework submission.
    • Character Name
    • Year
    • House
    • Username
    • Member ID Number
    • Chosen homework assignment (if there is more than one option given for homework)
  • Please submit your homework assignment under a 'textcut', 'spoiler' or 'quote' tag.
  • If a homework/assignment requires multiple posts, please link ALL posts in your PM. I, unfortunately, don't have time to hunt them all down.
  • ALL classroom and site rules apply in homework assignments.
  • Have FUN!
