Once again, it's early morning. Same as the past few lessons had been, though the light was significantly fainter what with the winter months and all. So rolling out of bed might have been harder, eating might have been slower and venturing to the classroom might have been more effort than it seemed worth. Especially when the classroom was divided right down the middle with a cold, stone grey wall. A single wooden door had been placed right in it's center. Of all the things, this hardly could have looked like anything exciting or worth an early morning rise, it was just that type of wall.
What perhaps saved the classroom were two odd things. The first, a large, round bowl-type structure right beside the bowl, filled with the queerest colored water. It was a pale blue, and reflected light as if it was coming from the bottom of the bowl. Sabel stood close by the bowl, looking rather serious, as a Defense Professor might.
The second odd thing, or perhaps more remarkable, was that if one looked up they would find that the ceiling seemed like it was moving. If one looked closer, they would be able to discern that the movement was not the brick or the boards, but snitches. Hundreds of them, milling above, some zipping back and forth among the others.
There are however, no brooms or ladders or really, anything that looked like it could fly.
Just a bowl and a serious looking Professor.
There are however, benches available for sitting if one is tired of the floor.

Why she was subjecting herself to this?!
Reagan, who never really excelled at anything pertaining to Defense, found herself toddling off at the announcement of DADA. Dressing warmly, since the coolness seemed to cling to her bones as of late. To be honest, she assumed she was coming down with something; the common cold or something.
Anyway, here she was...entering Professor Dakest's classroom and peering around at the stark furnishings. Just benches for sitting, a very ordinary wall...and a bowl?...Rea almost turned herself right back around and left...
...but...
...she didn't...
"Good morning, Professor." While still warm and pleasant, her greeting held none of the bright exuberance that usually came from Reagan Penrose. After getting that out of the way, she parked herself on one of the benches and waited for further instructions. It looked like it was going to be very intriguing, at least.

Early morning classes! Adi thrived on those, you know. He had already had a quick jog despite the cold, already had his breakfast and was shuffling extra happily along to the DADA classroom. Annnnd in he went!
Wait... WOAH!
What's with the wall? And the bowl like thingy? Annnnd the serious looking Dakest? The man look like he could do with some Laughing Gas. Ehem. This Hufflepuff had enough grins and good mood for everyone though. "Good morning, Professor! Interesting set up here.'' Also, were those snitches up there? This was going to be a super duper interesting lesson, yo!
Adi padded off to a bench, flopped down and waited for his classmates to get here. Oh, hi, Ravenclaw girl! (Reagan)

Noelle yawned and rubbed her eyes as she trudged into the DADA classroom. It was too hard to get out of bed these days. The warm covers were so inviting and the cool flower did not want to touch her feet.
But somehow, and with much help from the dorm mates who had her well being in mind, she made it out of bed, clothed, and to breakfast before class. She still wasn't woke up though.
Seeing the strange bowl, with Professor Dakest beside it, Noelle didn't even wonder. Her mind wasn't awake yet. She gave a small wave and a smile to the professor as she sat on the floor. Normally, she would have been googley eyed at the professor, but she was just too darn sleepy to at the moment.
Pulling her legs up and taking her wand out, she waited for class to begin.

As energetic about morning classes as his boyfriend was, that's how unpleased about them Benny was. He just wasn't an early morning person, even when he had been caring for dragons during his internship in the wee hours of the morning. The cold and the level of light certainly didn't help. The Gryffindor had done his best to appear content as he made his back up to the DADA classroom after a hearty breakfast and hot chocolate for energy.
And then there was the layout of the room when he arrived. What in Merlin's beard? A wall...and...were those snitches? Was he even registering enough of reality to be able to make it through till the end? "Um...morning Professor," Benny greeted, trying to push past his confusion and anything else. And then he made it towards the bestie. Surely Adi would understand. "Hey..." he said, sitting down beside him on the bench?

The penchant for holding lessons at what practically seemed like dawn hadn’t quite met with Brooklyn’s approval, not yet. She doubted it ever would, as she walked up to the DADA classroom after a quick breakfast, still idly braiding her hair just to keep herself busy. Therefore also keeping herself awake, as well as making sure that there was at least one thing out of the way. For some reason she felt like DADA might be the second most dangerous subject regarding her hair after Potions, and yet she honestly enjoyed both subjects. It was what kept her from contemplating dropping the subjects once she could. That and the professors were tolerable, if not downright pleasing to her. Compared to the weirdness of some of the other lessons this term, it was just normal annoyances here. Like the early morning classes.
Finishing her braid as she stepped inside the classroom, she flicked the end back over her shoulder as she glanced around. Not many people here yet, and the room seemed smaller. Probably because of that wall that had suddenly appeared, but she knew better than to question that. Along with the active ceiling, which only reminded her of some diabolical version of her father’s training camps. It was ten million times easier to just focus on everything else, also known as the professor standing there near the wall. “Good morning Professor Dakest,” she greeted him, tilting her head slightly as she looked at the bowl near him. “Is that a Pensieve?” She just wondered. And she made her way to a so far empty bench to perch there, waiting for the lesson to start.

It went without saying these days that if it was not explicitly stated in some rule or another for a particular class that shoes and socks were mandatory, that Daxton would not be seen dead in them. He padded his way barefoot into the classroom, slipping his ever-present earmuffs off his ears so they hung about his neck - mostly he needed them for the corridors, loud as they got - and immediately surveyed the classroom.
The movement up by the ceiling stole Daxton's attention at once, and he stopped in his tracks to stare for a few moments, tracking what was up there. Though the Ravenclaw had a minimal interest in flying, Quidditch, or indeed any kind of sports, he knew exactly what these were. Snitches were rather fascinating, and it was a shame they were associated with that stupid game.
After he had had his fill staring up at the ceiling, Daxton lowered his gaze again and took in the wall that made the room now half the size as it once was. He squinted at it in suspicion; something was likely behind that, and it was impossible to deduce whether it would be a good something or a bad something, though it was wisest to expect the latter. He glanced for a moment at Dakest, then turned his sights to that bowl, giving off a strange blue light that danced over the professor and the wall nearby. His curiosity piqued, Daxton stepped forward in his silent way, approaching both bowl and professor and being quite overt about attempting to peer into the bowl and inspect its contents.

Angel was totally looking forwards to this lesson, the Professor was one of her favourites and she had been studying the Patronus Spell, which reminded her she needed to speak to the Professor about that, the sad demeanour that had been on her face the last lesson was gone and now she was bubbly and happy. She was glad she had spoken to that Astronomy Ghost, the next time she saw her she would totally thank her.
Angel walked into the room and looked up after hearing noises, this was just so confusing what was all these little things up in the air, she couldn't wait to find out. "Morning Professor." Angel gave him a smile before she went and sat on a bench and waited to see what the lesson was about.

It was early. Early, kind of dark out still, a bit chilly and had she mentioned early? Sleep deprivation was seriously becoming a thing with her lately. Over working and pouring all her focus, time and energy into everything else was happening more and more. What was said was it wasn't even the year of her OWLs...what was to happen next term? Thankfully coffee was very much a thing for Hady without it's use she would probably be dead on her feet.
Stepping into the room she noticed first a few of her mates were already here as well as the Professor. "Morning Professor Dakest," she greeted quietly with a small but firm nod of her head while making way to sit not on one of the benches but on the floor in front of one. Yeah the floor was just fine for her, she'd spent enough time on it lately to have grown used to it. Being her ever observant self she had noticed the wall which she wasn't sure how she felt about as of yet, the strange bowl which she didn't appear to worried about AND the things flying around close to the ceiling. Snitches. Where they going to have to catch them or something today?

It was early, and annoyingly so, BUT... he had heeded the class notice's warning, and had made sure to sleep well. So here he was, freshly woken, showered and fed, ready and rearing to go. One thing he was very glad for, was comfortable clothing, which meant, NOT his school uniform, those had a way of itching at the collar, a restricting him from properly raising his arms, then again... he might be needing a bigger shirt.
"Morning, Professor," he greeted Sabel with a nod, as he gathered centrally, though hanging back somewhat. Other's that he knew received a nod from him too, though he was keeping his words more or less to himself for now.
Just WHAT were they doing today? He looked between the bowl apparatus, the wall and door and the ceiling of... were those snitches?

Ava was always early for DADA class and any dueling meeting. Yes, she WAS. But today, she's almost late just because she couldn't find her necktie. Why oh why her necktie had to vanish in the morning of her favorite class? But thankfully she had the spare one, and then rushed to have some quick breakfast and... to the classroom.
But apparently she wasn't late yet.
"Good morning, Professor Dakest." The Gryffindor greeted him as she entered the classroom. She did notice the strange things in the classroom. Hmmmm....

The cold didn't seem to affect Jet as much as it should, and as the girl walked into the classroom, her expression was unfazed by the sight. She looked at the wall then at the bowl-type structure and gave the professor a nod. "Good morning, professor." She greeted him before stepping towards the benches.
It was only then that a noise made her look up and notice the snitches. Intriguing.Still looking unfazed, the fifth year took a seat next to no one in particular and waited for class to start.

Was it just her or had it been much harder than usual to get up this morning? Norah arrived at the DADA classroom a little out of breath, her hair piled on top of her head in a messy bun that she hadn't had the time to brush out. That was a secondary concern, obviously. She thought her bun was very nice, and even if it wasn't, having time to eat breakfast was always more important. Life without breakfast would be unbelievably difficult.
She smiled and waved at Professor Dakest as she entered. "Morning, Professor." She considered asking what they'd be doing today, but decided it'd be much more impressive if she could figure it out by looking around the room. Dakest would be so proud, right? Riiiiiight? Deductive reasoning had to be important for Defense stuff. A thorough inspection of the room informed her that her deductive reasoning needed a biiiiit of work. A funny layout and snitches? What was up with the wall? She gave up and took a seat on one of the benches, fiddling with a curl that had escaped her bun and fallen onto her face. Dakest could explain. Deductive reasoning was highly overrated.

After not participating much in the last dueling club meeting, Evie woke up with a new spirit, determined to do better in class today. Class participation, of course, was not optional anyway. After letting out quite the lengthy yawn, the seventh year walked into the classroom, her eyes focusing on the wall and the door, and the bowl, the professor, and, a moment later.... the moving ceiling. She paused just inside the doorway and focused in on what the ceiling was made of and instead discovered hundreds of little snitches fluttering around. She imagined the ceiling was still quite normal behind all the little gold wings.
How curious, she thought to herself as she walked further into the classroom, hugging her arm to her chest. It was a cold, dreary morning and she was still having a hard time waking up. "Good morning, professor," she said as she passed by him. Evangeline decided to stay standing in hopes to stay more awake and alert.

TOO. EARLY.
IT WAS TOO. EARLY.
Letting out a yawn, Phillip trudged along the corridor and into the Defence classroom. He wasn't about to miss THIS lesson. Defence, you know. It was bound to be GREAT and USEFUL and only became his second-favourite subject so far. So missing lessons wasn't an option, in his mind. But the idea of staying in bed sounded MUCH more appealing than sitting in a classroom that had.....
............. uh, a GIANT WALL DOWN THE MIDDLE?! Not even a INTERESTING looking wall. Just........ a WALL.
The boy scrunched up his nose and turned his attention towards-- OH! HEY, that BOWL. "HEY, Professor! Cool bowl!" He even tried to peek inside it JUST to see where the light was coming from as he walked by. CASUALLY, you know. But then, before long, his eyes found the......... weird ceiling. It looked normal enough apart from the fact that it looked like it was MOVING. It looked as if there was something UP THERE. Something like--
UH. Noelle? Sitting on the FLOOR? When there were BENCHES over there? Phillip made his way over towards the Gryffindor before plopping down next to her and giving her a gentle nudge. "HEY, sleepyhead!" She looked like she wanted to go back to bed, did she know?

Olly's belly was nice and full from his breakfast. But not [I]too[/I full to the point of feeling sick for the lesson. Pleasantly full, so his stomach would not be grumbling during the lesson. Because that would be bad.
What? A wall. That wasn't usually there, was it? Olly walked over to the wall and stood in front of it, staring right at the door. Were they going to get to go through it? What was the point of there being a door if they couldn't go through it? Or maybe something was going to come out of it. No matter what happened, Olly was going to be first in line. He hadn't even looked up at the ceiling, he was too busy staring at the door.
"Good morning professor," he greeted. He glanced toward the man for a moment before turning his gaze back toward the door. He was not going to sit down. He was going to stay where he was. Staring at the door. If something came through, he would know about it.

Okay, just for the record, getting out of bed was ALWAYS hard for Zander Adair. And a cold morning such as this one was absolutely no exception. But here he was, hair still kind of sticking in every single direction... Still stretching and yawning as he made his way into the room. Whose idea was it to put the DADA classroom so far from Gryffindor tower in the first place? Because they were horribly biased and it was a very horrible move. Just sayin'.
As for the contents of the room... Strange. Very strange. Zander gave the Professor a small nod, opting not to say much as it was the morning and also his focus was drawn towards the bowl. The Gryffindor chose not to approach it, but he did eye it suspiciously. If it was what he thought it was... Zander wanted absolutely no part in it.
NOPE.
Thanks.

It was always such a struggle to get out of bed for early classes, yet here Paulina was. Standing outside of the door, she wiped the sleepiness out of her eyes and gave one last yawn. That out of the way, she stepped inside. "Morning, Professor."
She wondered what was going on with the classroom but was too tired to question it. Professor Dakest would explain everything in time. Giving her friends waves, Paulina headed over to a bench and took a seat.
This morning Dante had missed breakfast and did not get much sleep and now he was more indifferent an cranky than usual. He entered the classroom and only cared for the benches so he could sit down.
Which is basically what he did. He slowly made his way over to a free bench and flopped onto it.
There, sitting down.
Now if only this was a study session or whatever. Then he could nap.
But alas, he could not do that.

The next student's reaction to the snitches was slightly more satisfying. Sabel knew he wasn't the only Professor that liked to, and admittedly tried, to get a bit of a rouse out of his students. Today it seemed he was falling a bit flat, so the bit of bewilderment was welcome.

The bowl of water got an unreadable look from him. Little did they know he was thinking twice about this whole thing, and thought right then and there about kicking it over. But a reminder of why he was doing this was all he needed to keep both feet planted on the floor.

At the moment, it looked the same as it did from a distance. Just water with a light ebbing up from the bottom, making the depth of the bowl rather hard to discern.

It was only then that a noise made her look up and notice the snitches. Intriguing.Still looking unfazed, the fifth year took a seat next to no one in particular and waited for class to start.
Or perhaps it was just one in a few. Were roofs full of snitches and random walls normal things in Hogwarts? He paused at that thought. Supposedly, everything weird was normal in Hogwarts, and if one wanted to over generalize, with magic too.
"Ms. Wolford."
SPOILER!!: Norah

Then there was Kittredge. One of the ones who made him feel a bit uneasy about this whole thing just by being herself. Sabel let out a breath and nodded. "Morning."

And then there were students like Shacklebolt, who Sabel had less concern for. But then, maybe he was getting things backwards. Time would tell.
"Shacklebolt." Interesting choice, standing, but he wasn't going to question it.
SPOILER!!: Phillip

Had he mentioned how early it was?
Alright, so the look on Romalotti's face had been the best one to the classroom set up. It almost appeared as if he had walked right into the wall. It made Sabel smirk just a little bit. And he was curious enough to have a peek at the bowl. Sabel wouldn't stop him, not unless he got too close. Curious first years.
"Mr. Romalotti."

What?
And then there was this one. Sabel didn't even know what to make of the kid. It was almost as if there was a magnet between the boy's nose and the wood of the door. For a moment, Sabel just blinked at the Slytherin.
Finally, when it was clear that the kid wasn't about to budge an inch, Sabel let out a bit of a noisy breath. "Mr. Thomas-Borzekowski, if you could please take a seat. You'll get to look beyond the door soon enough."
SPOILER!!: Zander

NOPE.
Thanks.
Then there was Adair, a kid who understood distance a bit better than most. The Gryffindor got a solemn nod and a knowing look. What with the way the boy was eyeing the bowl, he would bet a handful of jelly beans that the kid knew exactly what it was.
SPOILER!!: Charlotte

Mornings were the best and DADA mornings were even better!
All solemness dissipated from the room however, with the arrival of the one and only Kettleburn. How did she manage to be so awake at this hour? The kid was a non-stop train of energy. It was a wonder she didn't drop her parents with fatigue.
"Ms. Kettleburn. Morning."
SPOILER!!: Paulina

A more tempered arrival. He could handle that. "Ms. Holiday. Morning."

There, sitting down.
Now if only this was a study session or whatever. Then he could nap.
But alas, he could not do that.
And it seemed the last student in the class was much less awake than the others. Perhaps Kettleburn could sit beside him and liven him up. "Mr. Barrington. Morning."
So, that was everyone was it? The classroom door got an eye for a long minute before Sabel flicked it shut with a quick wave of his wand. Then, his attention went to the students. Another moment of silence before he stepped away from the wall and the bowl of water.
As if the snitches and the bowl of water and wall didn't exist, Sabel stopped in front of the class, clasped his hands together and eyed each of his students. "As I'm sure all of you have experienced, one of the most difficult and perhaps frustrating things about magic - besides the question of whether you can cast a spell correctly or not, or at all - is whether your spell hits your intended target."
One of the snitches decided to flutter down lower, buzzing about the students before it made it's way up to the Professor and got a wave away by his hand.
"Aim, is obviously very important, but sometimes it's not enough. Sometimes targets move too quickly or erratically to get a good shot in. What method or spell could you use, to ensure that you have a better chance of hitting your target?"

OOC: Heya all! Lesson has begun. If you haven't yet posted, please feel free to participate Just would suggest not posting arriving late
Looking for one idea per student if possible Doesn't matter if they overlap. Feel free to be creative!
Class will resume either in 24 hours or 48 hours, depending on RL. I will try to get to it in 24 hours

Henric raised his hand,"We can always try to bind the target using the Incarcerous spell so they won't try to get away?" He offered. He used this spell before during the ancromantula attack last year. It did help to hold the target down only for just a moment.

What method or spell could you use, to ensure that you have a better chance of hitting your target?
Hmmm.....
The young lioness thought for a while. Then she raised her hand to answer the question. "I agree with Charlotte to use the freezing charm, and also I think full body-bind curse also work." She said.

Only after settling herself had Reagan suddenly heard the quiet rustling from up above. Not that she could clearly make out whatever was causing the sounds...See, Rea didn't follow Quidditch and even when she did glimpse SOMETHING glittering and fluttery, she still didn't make the connection.
Hmmmm.
Professor Dakest's first question gave a bit of insight, however. Was this going to be similar to the Centaur seminar? With targets...and target practice?
"Not that I would use this spell since I view it as an extreme measure...but the Stunning Charm, or Stupefy, could also work, professor." Reagan had never personally been stunned, but she could imagine it would cause the stunnee to have a massive headache upon waking, if it was used on a person.
Usage on animals? UTTERLY UNTHINKABLE.
