This half of the classroom is the same as the other, save for a few benches, chairs, boards, bricks and hidy holes that have been splattered about. It appears like the obstacle course has been moved into this half of the room.
And up above, as you enter, the snitches are all buzzing, waiting. As soon as the door closes (after the last student steps through) the snitches suddenly begin their attack.
How many can you stop? How many can you ward off?
Be quick on your feet and mind. They are fast!
---------------------------------
OOC: Heya all, so pretty simple:
You may start on the activity. Use Persequoris, other spells and your environment to stop the attacking snitches. Minimum of three posts please. You MAY Rp for the snitches, but please no serious injury or damage - the snitches would only bruise, if even.
This is for 1-3 years, and any 4-7 years who don't want to participate in the killing curse activity.

Ava watched Professor Dakest demonstrated how to combine the offensive spell with the Persequoris one. And that was cool. She couldn't help to try it by herself. And then he announced that the class would be divided into two groups. The younger students and older students. She slightly envied that the older students would talk about the killing curse.
Well, at least she had a chance to try the homing spell.
As the man had instructed, the young lioness then walked to the next door with the other students from 1st-3rd years. WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! SO. MANY. SNITCHES. AROUND THEM!! And she needed to get them as much as she could.
GAME ON!
Gripping her wand, she tried to use the homing spell. She made a line to the side and then flicked her wand forward. "Persequoris!" But then... nothing happened. Ugh! Tried it once again? "Persequoris!" She cast the spell again with a deep concentration and the right wand movement.

Davie STILL wanted to learn about the killing curse, and he was determined to do so, but apparently that would happen later if at all. For now he was going to TAKE DOWN THESE SNITCHES dundundunnn.
First Davie was obviously going to cast a shield charm. "Protego!" he cast confidently around himself. Now come at him, snitches! Next he waited and focused on the lower-flying ones, his wand out and at the ready.
As one came at him, Davie hurriedly tried to remember the spell to slow its progress. "Impedimenta!" he cast awkwardly, following it up with a hesitant, "Persequoris!" Did he do that right? It LOOKED right, like the snitch was flying away a bit more slowly...

Okay snitches.... Let's do this.
Noelle kept her eyes up at the snitches as they fluttered above her. She held her wand tight in her hand. Her eyes flicked across the room, deciding what her first move would be as soon as the snitches started moving.
Then the door closed.
ATTACK OF THE SNITCHES!!
Noelle did the only logical thing she could do. She ducked behind a chair as a snitch flew at her. Another one came at her side but she moved behind the chair so it wouldn't get her. Okay... Homing spell. Homing spell.
She needed her Cinna...
But Cinna was a seventh year and not here to help. Noelles eyes searched the classroom for Sabbie, hoping he wasn't being pummeled. She needed to try the spell.
Noelle pointed her wand and did the movement that Professor Dakest showed her. "Persequoris!!" She yelled and saw a snitch that was coming for her twitch........ But that was it.
Chloe was unprepared for snitches to attack her. Actually, she didn't think there was a way to be prepared. It was the nature of the exercise. It didn't mean she liked it or appreciated it. The whole thing made her feel a little ill.
When she walked into the room they swarmed around her. Instead of being a witch and using magic her knee jerk reaction was to cover her head. She didn't want anything to bruise her or hurt her. But after several minutes of this she finally decided to emerge from her defensive strategy and perhaps try her hand at offense.
She strained out and drew her wand trying not to flinch at the wings flapping in her face. Once she was ready, which took a few more breaths, she managed to try the spell, "Persequoris!" And it didn't work.
--------------------
OOC: Forgot to say, that if you use just the Persequoris spell, you can assume that if it hits the snitch, it gives it a 'zap' which puts the snitch out of commission
If you have any questions, please ask. Sabel may pop in if help is needed. Class ends Nov 5, and I'll start wrapping us up the morning of, and it will close closer to midnight .

Daxton was annoyed, and that was putting it bluntly. They could not learn about the Killing Curse, but apparently everyone else could. He was twelve, and that was only two years younger than the younger fourth years, who apparently had the option of either snitch hunting or staying behind and learning about the curse, and what difference did two years make? He was not a baby, but being a first year, everyone seemed to treat him as such, as though he could not handle that sort of subject matter. This was just stupid.
The only positive to this situation was that they were now cordoned off from the rest of the class, and without adult supervision. No prefects either, assuming that the eager-to-please badged students would all be staying behind. That meant the perfect opportunity to have a little fun in lieu of learning the interesting stuff, and getting to use the pensieve. Perhaps, also, on the way back through the classroom, Daxton could quickly peer properly into it and see the memory, assuming the bowl would still be there.
For now, though, Daxton had something else in mind. Where was- thunk!
Snitches really did move very fast. Daxton had barely had time to register the sound of one approaching him, the gentle buzzing of its wings. There was no way he could have seen it; it smacked right into the back of his head.
He whirled, one hand going to the back of his head to look for the culprit. A snitch, obviously, impossible to discern from the others. Daxton kept his eyes on it as it doubled back to ready for another attack, and he pulled his notebook out of his pocket. This time when it approached, he drew back the notebook in the air with both hands, and gave the snitch and almighty WHACK! It careened off, smacked right into the wall, and Daxton grabbed it out of the air and shoved the still-struggling snitch into his pocket. It was almost satisfying.

And it's still not working. DAMN!!
Merlin, this spell was very difficult. Ava kinda hoped that Professor Dakest or anyone could teach her properly how to use this spell. But the Professor was in another class, and it seemed like the third years also useless. So... there's no other choice. She had to master this spell by herself, Okay. Try again, Burton!
She took a very deep breath, focusing her mind to cast the spell, thinking about the snitch and knocking it off with the homing spell. Then she tried to cast the spell again, making a line to the side with her wand and flicked it forward. "Persequo.... OUCH!!" Some snitches started attacking her. Thank you, snitch. You ruin my concentration. Ava then cast the shield charm to protect herself. And tried again.
Concentration... Deep thinking... More focus... More intent... And... "Persequoris!" She cast the spell again. And it WORKED!! There's a snitch that knocked out because it being hit by her spell.

Sabbath was one of the last to arrive in the snitch hunting room as he'd been held up, still running the lap around the classroom that Professor Dakest had given him as punishment for sleeping in class. He'd made the lap though, under duress, grumbling all the while.
He would've much preferred to stay and learn about the killing curse and really resented the fact that he was constantly being patronised. He couldn't understand the age restriction, clearly some kids were more mature than others of the same age. Ob-viously, age was an inadequate demarcation of readiness. Even still, he exited the room, following the others, his eyes flicking towards the pensieve. Later, if he got the opportunity, he'd try to peek in there and see the memory.
Right now though he had a more pressing issue at hand, because he'd been asleep all lesson he hadn't learned the defensive spell to protect him from the attacking snitches, so although he had his wand out, he was a sitting duck as he entered the room.
Fwoomp, fwoomp! The snitches dived at him, he was getting pummelled. He crouched and ran toward the nearest bench, crawling under and positioning a chair to defend himself.
He saw Nells a short distance away also protecting herself with a chair. She was attempting the newly taught spell. His wand still in his hand, he crawled over to her getting hit by snitches on the way. "Ugh! Nells, oomph! Quick! Teach me the spell. Bah! What's the incantation? mmph!" He winced as yet another snitch hit him as he reached back to grab his hat that had tumbled from his head. He scrambled in with Nells behind the chairs.

Hmmkay so assuming his shield spell was still holding up fine, Davie was going to just try out the homing spell. He waited for a snitch to come zipping down at him, then quickly drew his wand in a line and a flick.
"Persequoris!" Awww yeah, bam, that snitch was zapped and out of commission! "This could be a good way to get rid of flies," Davie commented casually to Ava, since she was nearby.

Olly had ran through the door almost as soon as it had opened. He had been keeping his eye on it, after all. He'd said he'd be he first one through so he had to stick to that. Plus he knew that there was no point in stalling; he was not going to be allowed to stay for the other lesson anyway and he didn't want to miss the fun. So far the only people in the other part of the room were his fellow first years. Cool. First year party! A party where they got attacked by snitches.
"Perquorsis." No. "Prese...Porso..." No and no. What was the incantation again? He'd practiced it several times when instructed, but it was a weird word. Hard to say. Oh well, technically he did not even need to use it. But he would have to use something. At the moment, he was just standing in the room. And many snitches seemed to think he was a good target. When the first one smacked into his arm - hard - Olly winced and took cover.
He dived under a table, hoping the cover above his head would ward off some attacks by the snitches. He reached for the nearest bench, pulling it close to him so it could shield him from one side. All he needed was three more and he could hide out for the rest of the lesson. It was a perfect plan, obviously.

"I should tell my mom, this is gonna be useful for her,"She winked at tried to cast the spell again with a full focus, intent and deep concentration. "Persequoris!" Line to the side and flick forward. And another snitch was zapped and out of the commission.
"Have you tried to combine the spell?" Ava asked to him. Maybe now it's a good time to try it. Like Professor Dakest had demonstrated, she tried to combine the impediment jinx with the homing spell. "Impedimenta Persequoris!" She slashed her wand, made a circle, and then the line and flick forward.
And.... Fail.
Another try wouldn't hurt, right? "Impedimenta Persequoris!"
Still nothing. Merlin, this combining spell was kinda difficult, huh?

Obviously, attempting the spell to take down the snitches was not going to happen, as it simply was not going to work. And, as Daxton did not feel like making a fool of himself today, he was not even going to try. The notebook method was working just fine.
Not that he was using it right now. The first year had his notebook at the ready, rather than his wand, yes, but was currently swiftly circling the room and snooping up a few of the snitches that had been zapped out of commission, and adding them to his pocket with the still-struggling snitch from before. Why was he collecting them? He was not entirely sure, only that he wanted them and fully intended to leave with as many as he could scoop up.
But the snitches were relentless in their attack, and it was really starting to get on Daxton's nerves, not that the situation had not immediately began to grate on his nerves the second he had stepped through that door.
Dodging around the obstacles, Daxton held his notebook, ready. When the next snitch came flying at him, he swung the notebook as hard as possible, aiming for one of the many other students that was running around this part of the room and sending the snitch right in their direction.

"Yeah, why do anything like a Muggle when you're a wizard?" Davie chuckled and zapped another fly with the persequoris spell. He HAD tried combining the spell, but he still wasn't 100% sure it had worked... it had LOOKED like, but maybe he was just being hopeful...
Davie zapped another fly and got an idea. "Do you want to try it on me? It's not hard." Look, he'd show her. "Impedimenta! Persequoris!" And the snitch that was zig-zagging toward the ceiling was followed by his spell and then slowwwwwed down. Yup, it worked!

The actual spell he used was not super important, right? They had only learned the tracking spell because it would be helpful in hitting a moving target. But did the spell itself actually do anything? It was just a tracking spell, wasn't it? Or had he misunderstood? That was likely.
Olly figured he should probably do something, rather than just sit under a table for the rest of the lesson. But he did not want to get hit with a snitch. And he didn't know how to do the tracking spell. So it should be interesting to say the least.
He waited for a moment, watching the snitches fly around the room. As one of them came close, he readied himself. He was crouched on the ground and leaped. Olly grabbed a snitch in his hand. Well, it couldn't hit him but he still had to do something with it. He stepped on the wing with one foot so it couldn't get away, and held his wand out toward the snitch. But what kind of spell was he supposed to cast? Technically none of them would actually do anything to it. But what was considered correct for the purposes of this activity?
"Stupefy." The spell hit the trapped snitch and he heard a small dinging sound. Did that mean he'd done it right? Tentatively, Olly lifted his foot. The snitch did not fly toward him, but instead flitted lamely off to the side. Alright then.

She watched there was a snitch was getting hit by her spell and immobilized. "YAAAAAY!!!!" She couldn't help but jump excitedly and hug Davie.
"Yaaaaaaay, you did it!" David cheered on Ava, surprised that the girl he had just dueled was hugging him in DADA class. But maybe it wasn't that strange, because they were both firsties and friends. So he hugged her back gently.
As for him, as he caught sight of Olly trying out the stunning spell, Davie decided to do the same. He focused on one zipping snitch, watching it so intently that he almost didn't realize when it nicked his ear. Davie turned and continued to watch it, then when he was ready, cast, "STUPEFY Persequoris!!!!"
BAM. The snitch fell to the floor, stunned. Fantastic!

Taking out his frustration on whacking these things was turning out to be the best decision Daxton had made all week, which was saying something, as most (if not all) of his decisions were good ones. He had collected more snitches now too, snatched one out of the air (it was hardly difficult when they were pelting themselves right at him), though had all but run out of pocket space for them, so the majority of his concentration went on beating the snitches into submission, one by one.
Thwack. Another one down, smacked off into who knew what direction. Daxton had given up aiming altogether, and was now only focused on hitting the snitches as hard as possible.
Which was alright for a while, but soon all Daxton could really think about was missing out on the more interesting lesson on the other side of that door, while he was cordoned off in here with the children. With another thwack, he smacked at an incoming snitch with his notebook, and sent it right at the door, just to make extra sure that those on the other side of it would know his displeasure. He was tempted to go give the door a good kick too.

The Snitches were buzzing and SO WAS PHILLIP. This looked like it was going to be an INTERESTING activity, okay? OKAY.
But, even so, a part of him was a little upset that he wasn't going to be sitting in the other room, having that discussion about Killing Curses. It sounded like an even more interesting discussion and he wanted to hear what Dakest had to say about it. And what he KNEW about it.
Bottom line: it sounded interesting. Mh--
Snap went the door. And ATTACK went the Snitches!
Phillip froze on the spot as he watched the tiny golden balls that looked innocent enough suddenly FLY TOWARDS HIM AND THE OTHER STUDENTS IN THE ROOM. MERLIN! It was as if everything he'd learnt and been told had flown straight out of his brain as soon as the snitches started attacking. The first year was just staring at the snitches AND at the other students that were trying to defend themselves. UH.
And then he heard it: Persequoris.
Right. Yeah. He was meant to be using that spell, wasn't he? Clearing his throat and dodging CLEAR of an oncoming snitch, he raised his wand up towards it and yelled, "Perse...... Persequa........" MERLIN, Snitches, WAIT FOR HIM. "Persequoris!"
The result? Nothing. If anything, the snitch coming after him only looked angrier, if that was possible.
Whether the snitches pelting the door had alerted him, or there was some other reason, Sabel's voice came through from the other side of the wall. "Alright everyone, feel free to start wrapping things up. Finish your practice if you want."
On cue, the snitches began slowing and the wall had begun to turn transparent. It looked like ice, melting slowly from the top. Students could now see into the other room, where Sabel turned to the pensive, retrieved the memory and stored it in a vial, which he tucked safely in his pocket. The water got poured out and quickly cleaned up with a wave of his wand.
The wall was less than a few inches high now, though the snitches stayed on their appropriate side of the class. The door itself had melted away.
"Good work today. If anyone needs to speak to me after class, I welcome you to. I'll be in my office." Anyone being mainly the one's who'd seen the killing curse, but it applied to those who likely had burning questions about the pensive as well. "There are chocolate frogs in a bowl outside the door for all of you. Please, help yourself."
The one day he allowed chocolate. The one day.

OOC: Heya all! Soo lesson is wrapping up. Feel free to finish your practice and get your posts in. I'll close this thread in about 9 hours from this post.
If you have questions for Dakest, feel free to ask. Otherwise, class is officially dismissed
Thanks all for a great last lesson!! <3 (PS while this is the last 'official' lesson for us, you can assume that as the term is not over, there would be more after this )

Another snitch zoomed toward Olly. He ducked, but reached up and snatched it out of the air. That was one way to stop them. Unfortunately it was not something he would really be able to do in an actual fight or something. But for the purposed of this activity it was fine. Snitches weren't hard to catch when they were flying directly at you.
He held the snitch with one hand and gripped his wand with the other. "Stupefy." What would have happened if he'd hit himself? Would he have knocked himself out. As hilarious as that would have been he didn't need to worry about it. He hit the snitch and dropped it to the ground. But before he could grab another, they stopped fighting anyway. Oh, end of the lesson.
CHOCOLATE FROGS! Olly ran directly toward their location and grabbed one. He always welcomed getting candy in class.
Taking out his frustration on whacking these things was turning out to be the best decision Daxton had made all week, which was saying something, as most (if not all) of his decisions were good ones. Ay Ay! Sabbath cried out. Sweet Merlin! A snitch had shot him on the butt, making him shoot forward and bump his head on the chair he was hiding behind. Although, he'd been sheltering there with Noelle, there wasnt really enough room for them both and his posterior had been woefully unprotected. One of Daxton's deflected snitches had hit its target, Sabbath's butt !!
Oh, that was it!! Class was about to end but he wasn't going to miss his chance for a parting shot. Sabbath scrambled out from his hiding place, grabbed a board and a few disabled Snitches from the floor.
He had to hand it to Daxton, he was an odd kid, but he had nouse, the deflection method worked and Sabbath now had two vendettas to settle.
He threw the first snitch up in the air and smashed at it with the board sending it hurtling straight towards Phillip.. "Cuddle up to my bestie while I'm taking a snooze in class! Don't think I didn't notice, buddy! he sneered at Phillip, cop that!.
Sabbath launched a second snitch at Daxton, he needed payback after all. His butt was still smarting.

That was it?! Class dismissed?! And Professor Dakest didn't even tell them how he'd enchanted all these snitches to turn from their Quidditch-loving selves into regular monsters!
Davie was definitely grabbing a chocolate frog or two on his way out. Plus he was going to visit the professor's office, finally. He shook his head at Sabbath's antics on his way out the door. That kid was always so weird and vindictive....

It would have been impossible to miss the declaration that the class was 'wrapping up', even as absorbed as Daxton was in venting his frustrations. As the snitches started to slow, he afforded the door and, by extension, the wall, another look, only to see them disappearing. Just in time to see Dakest emptying the pensieve.
Another surge of annoyance went through Daxton, this one stronger than the last, and he could only watch as his one opportunity to view the memory disappeared right into the professor's pocket. This. Was. Stupid.

Sabbath launched a second snitch at Daxton, he needed payback after all. His butt was still smarting.
Distracted by his own indignation, Daxton might have missed the snitch that was sent towards him by Sabbath. As it was, his attention had already been drawn by his housemate's sneer. It had been directed at another student, and Daxton had known there was no way it was concerning him in any way, but sometimes he enjoyed watching drama unfold between other people. Especially if he was unlikely to get drawn into it.
But, as he turned to look, he caught sight of Sabbath turning towards him... and sending a flash of gold his way. Whether it was sharp reflexes or very quick thinking, Daxton reacted at once. He held up his notebook and - thwack - deflected the snitch by swinging it with all his might, sending it hurtling off into the midst of the classroom.
Daxton's instinctive response was to attempt revenge at once, but he refrained. There would be plenty of chance for that; they were, after all, dormmates, and there were a great deal of methods to get his payback. When, of course, they were not under the watchful eye of a particular professor. A professor that Daxton was known to, and had managed to get himself in trouble with before. Still... it was tempting.
But he did nothing, only afforded Sabbath a stare, not with any particular emotion or expression.
