In the corridor outside of the Charms Office there is a small alcove where you'll find a drop box made of Impossibly marvellously and magically marbled metals. A slit in the front of the box is wide enough to drop a note or a letter through, but not wide enough to get a hand in, though it seems there is no other opening on the smooth metal.
This is where you can sign up for classes, drop any note you have for the professor and ask any questions you might have. Professor Schirmer encourages her students to make use of the mailbox rather than visiting her in her office. If you want an appointment to see her, and it is not urgent you should make use of the mailbox. Please don't chat too much in this thread. Professor Schirmer would prefer it if you didn't loiter around the mailbox, or examine it too closely. She'd hate for you to get your hand stuck in it.

Please have your character leave notes or questions here, unless it is urgent or you have permission ooc to post in the office. You will receive a response via PM to any questions your character has.As of term 30 you MAY post at the office to knock, but please be aware that if it isn't important or if the professor is busy, she may turn you away!

Minerva loved the professor's mailing system. It was so nice for things like what she wanted to say. She quickly put the parchment into the box and headed on her way.

Dear Professor,
I hope you had a wonderful summer. I am very happy to be back for my second term and I am looking forward to your class this year. I still have my cute metal badger from the eggs last term. I carry him with me everywhere. I just wanted to stop by and let you know if you ever need any extra help please owl me or just let me know in class.
Minerva Wheatborn
SPOILER!!: PM'd reply
Miss Wheatborn,
My summer was pleasant. I believe its more important for a student to enjoy their summer breaks however so I will return the sentiment and hope your summer was also pleasant. I'm glad you still have your badger. You did well in the assignment last term and I am looking forward to seeing your efforts this year, and watching your skills develop further. I am sure I can find something for you to help me with. perhaps you can clean and restack my bookshelf for me. If you would like to do so, come to my office at your leisure and I will explain what it is I need to be done.
Professor Schirmer

Alyssa walked up to the mailbox of Professor Schirmer's office. She liked the Charms Professor muggle way of receiving mail. Alyssa quickly slipped her note into it and walked away.

"Hello Professor. Believe it or not, but this is the first time that I'm actually coming here to visit your office. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed your classes last term and that I'm looking forward to attending yours again this year. I still have the silver horse you gave me. Everyone at home loved it and of course since I was flying back to the States, I believe that it did bring me home safely. Anyway, I was wondering whether you needed help preparing stuff for class lessons or anything outside of that? If you do, I would like to volunteer my services. You can always let me know after class or send your Patronus to find me. I still wish I could do that.
Best Regards
Alyssa Potter
SPOILER!!: reply
Miss Potter,
I'm glad you've found your horse charm useful. If I need any help at all I will be sure to keep you in mind. However, I highly suggest you do not stress yourself out too much this term, school is hard enough without taking on an extra workload. I also suggest you continue working on your focus and intent, and hopefully your Patronus will come along nicely by the time you reach your OWL year.
Professor Schirmer.

Isabelle was making rounds to most of her teachers and had seen that you were to write Professor Schirmer a note so she had gone back to the common rooms to write one to her. Now she was back with her note to the professor and dropped it into the mailbox.
SPOILER!!: note
Dear Professor Schirmer,
I hope you have had a wonderful summer. I have had a great one, but am excited to be finally coming back to Hogwarts for my final year. I am extremely looking forward to more great Charms classes this year. I hope that I will be able to make the most of your classes this term and learn a lot. Also I was wondering if you would be needing any help at all throughout the term. If you do please feel free to send me an owl, or contact me some other way. I would love to be able to help you out, especially if it would help me with my charmswork. That would be an extra plus.
Hope you are doing well,
Isabelle Dupont
SPOILER!!: VM'd reply
Miss Dupont,
I'm glad you enjoyed your summer and I will be pleased to have you in my NEWT level classes this year. I'm sure you're well and truly up to the challenge, but if you do need any advice or extra practice you are more than welcome to come and see me in my office at your leisure. I am quite sure I can find a few ways for you to revise for your exams and hopefully have fun at the same time.
Professor Schirmer

Sierra strolled down the corridor, a piece of parchment already tucked into her hand. She'd changed her mind about this three different times on the way over, but now the door to Schirmer's office was lurking right in front of her, and it was almost like it was taunting her to come inside.
She took a careful look down the corridor. She wasn't going to do this if there were people watching. Finally, she stuffed the piece of parchment into the slit of the mailbox and jerked her hand away so quickly you'd think she'd believed there was a grindylow inside.
...and now, it was time to wait.

Professor Schirmer,
I don't really make office visits often, so this sort of thing is pretty new to me. However, I've been debating on asking you something for a while now, and I think I'm ready to ask you now. I think. I'm not the most public of people, but I think I can manage this.
Thank you,
Sierra Greingoth

SPOILER!!: VM'd reply
Miss Greingoth,
I must admit I used to stay away from the professors myself as a student, I suppose because I couldn't imagine what they could offer me and I always thought that if I were a professor I would not like to be bothered incessantly by children with petty concerns. However, as a professor I find that I do not mind making myself available to deserving students, so with that in mind you are more welcome to come and visit me at your leisure.

There, he had stayed up all night working on this six line of parchment the evil woman had assigned him. He hoped she was happy because he wasn't. He was tired and had to read through not one but three text books. He was sure he was done for the rest of the year.
He dropped his assignment in the mailbox and quickly walked away. Didn't want her popping up and asking him about the spells he was suppose to be practicing.

The difference between Charms and Transfiguration
A charm is a spell that you put on a selected object to change what the object does or how it behaves. Transfiguration though seemingly similar to charms changes the core appearance of the object. Another notable difference between the two is the fact that with transfiguration you can seemingly conjure something from thin air, while with charms an object is usually needed to perform a spell on. Some examples of charms are; hover charm, cheering charm and the engorgement charm. All these alter the behaviour of an object in some way. Examples of transfiguration spells are; Avis, Duro, lapifors and the match to needle spell.
