Care of Magical Creatures Homework II: The Pygmy Puff Project Diaries
The Basics:
Your task is to take care of the pygmy puff you have worked with today in class, whether it is your own personal puff or one belonging to the professor. Take the puff back to the castle with you and take good care of it for roughly the next week (ooc: until the next lesson). You will need to feed it; record what it eats and doesn't eat; groom it; bathe it (if needed); discover its gender; give it some exercise; entertain it; introduce it to other pygmy puffs; and of course observe all of these behaviors in detailed diary entries.
For full credit on this assignment, you will need to record five separate entries, spaced out and posted here, with each diary entry linking back to at least ONE RP post in the school. You have up until the start of the next Care of Magical Creatures class to complete this assignment.
Any questions, feel free to PM BanaBatGirl. But remember, do NOT PM your entries; post them in the above linked thread as you complete them. Good luck and have fun!
This assignment will be worth up to 20 points.
How to Keep a Diary:
Think of the Egg Journals you had to complete in Charms last year. In this thread (i.e. below this post), you must post your Pygmy Puff Project Diary. Each person should make one post. When you have a new entry, you should edit your post by clicking the edit button on the post you already made.
Title your post with your character's name and the name of his/her pygmy puff. The template below should be used for your character's diary:

SPOILER!!: *meep*
Class was only dismissed hours ago, but I feel like to properly chronicle my time with Momotaro II I need to start from the very day I received him. I used to have a pygmy puff, Momotaro, but due to some differences of opinion between him and my cat...well...I couldn't keep him anymore. So, he currently lives with one of my brothers. Needless to say, this assignment does have me a little worried seeing as Walnut is very territorial.
Immediately following class, Momotaro II took to liking being perched on my right shoulder - never the left. I am not sure the reason for this exactly, but as long as he is cooing I know that he is happy. I went to the Great Hall for dinner and had a really hard time keeping him on my shoulder and not in my bowl of pumpkin soup. So, I eventually gave in and let him have the soup...but all he wanted to do was take a bath in it. I know that pumpkin is full of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, but I thought that that was only when you ate it. I guess that Momotaro II knows something that I don't.
After dinner, Momotaro II and I headed back to the dorms where all I wanted to do was relax but, as I expected Walnut was not pleased with him being there and a mild disaster ensued. Don't worry, professor, Momotaro II is perfectly fine and managed to wedge himself under my dresser to avoid Walnut and his claws and came out with nothing more than dust caught in his fur.
So, a dusty pygmy puff will result in an unhealthy pygmy puff, so I took the little guy back to the common room and decided to brush him over at the study tables. A lot of hair was removed from him, so I suppose that with spring on the way in another month that shedding season is approaching. That, or the he was just really stressed out over what had happened in the dorms. Momotaro II also that that the clump of fur was another pygmy puff and got really excited. Does this mean that pygmy puffs are social creatures? I'll have to try and set up a play date with someone and their pygmy puff. He seems to miss being around the rest of the herd already.

SPOILER!!: *meep meep*
Momotaro II's fascination with pumpkin soup continues. I am starting to wonder if that pygmy puffs, just like humans, have their own individualized Amortentia. All creatures have their likes and dislikes, those scents that we are more drawn towards than others, but not even Walnut is drawn to catnip in the same way that Momotaro II is to pumpkin soup. At lunch, I ate a soup based in regular chicken broth, nothing out of the ordinary, and Momotaro II had no desire to dive into it. At dinner, it was back to pumpkin soup for me and, well, Momotaro II didn't even wait for me to put my spoon in it.
So, I cut dinner short and headed straight to the girls' bathroom on the second floor to attempt and give him a bath. I used Scourgify and some other simple charms previously, but nothing beats a good bath, right? I have a special pet shampoo that I bought for Walnut over the summer. It's primary purpose is for fleas, which I don't think Momotaro II really has issues with, but it was probably a better option than using regular soap. Animal skin can be very sensitive when it comes to such things.
The bath itself was an adventure. Bubbles everywhere and nearly loosing Momotaro II again when he really just ended up nearly floating out a window while being trapped in one of the soap bubbles. One thing is for sure, life with Momotaro II certainly is never dull.
Momotaro II is sleeping my pillow fast asleep as I write this and he sort of twitches every now and again. I wonder what he is thinking about, since it looks like he is dreaming. Walnut often twitches and purrs in his sleep and this seems to be the same thing. Do pygmy puffs dream? I honestly think if they do that Momotaro II is dreaming about being in a giant bowl of pumpkin soup.

SPOILER!!: *meep meep meep*
Yesterday I spent the afternoon in the common room with Momotaro II and some of my fellow Gryffindor's pygmy puffs. Turns out that he wasn't really feeling all that lonely, at least not for pygmy puffs of the same gender. I was able to confirm that he was a male though - and not just because of his squeaking and puffing up at the appearance of a female pygmy puff in the common room. I...don't really ever want to see that bit of Momotaro II again, so I am not going to go into further explanation right now.
My main purpose for writing this entry isn't because of the discovery of THAT on Momotaro II, but due to the events that happened at dinner. Momotaro II hadn't been eating much recently, so I was getting concerned that he was maybe sick. Everyone else's pygmy puff seems to eat and eat and eat, but Momotaro II is very fussy and particular about what he puts in his mouth. I suppose I should be thankful for this.
Anyway, at dinner he ate the entire Gryffindor house table out of sugar cubes and also show a particular fondness for shrimp. This got me thinking a bit, so I headed to the library for a bit of research. I always thought that Momotaro II's coloring was similar to that of a flamingo's, but I never put much thought into it after that. That is, until he started eating only shrimp at dinner tonight. Flamingos can come in many shades and colors based on their diet because they tend to eat things that contain pigments called carotenoids. One of those is brine shrimp. While Momotaro II was not eating that sort of shrimp at dinner, he was eating shrimp that contain similar pigments. Not only that, but he also tends to favor watermelon and carrots. There are beta-carotene in carrots and lycopene in watermelon that can also cause coloration. Could this be what gives a pygmy puff its color?
I am tempted to feed him other things that contain different chemical properties to see if his coat's color changes, but I think he would resist that and I am not entirely sure how to go about performing this sort of experiment properly. Maybe something to look into later.
So, I attempted to feed Momotaro II other foods that contained different pigments - more purples - to see if his coat would change color any, but it didn't work. In fact, he wouldn't even touch the other food. So, shrimp and sugar cubes it shall forever be for him. Unfortunately, with all that sugar intake Momotaro II began becoming a little more round and...pudgy than a healthy pygmy puff should be. This also meant that I wasn't being a very good owner and giving him the exercise that he needs.
I suppose it is sort of cruel the manner in which I gave him his exercise, but I knew that Momotaro II would be willing to chase after a sugar cube. I do the same thing with Walnut, tying feathers to a string and then dangling it in front of him. So, I did that with a sugar cube and ran him around the Gryffindor common room first, then one of the corridors, and then eventually at the suits of armor for about 30 minutes each time. Daily dose of 30 minutes of cardio is best I've read.
I really need to be careful and not spoil him. That is one of the dangers of having a pet, you WANT to spoil them and do too much. I'm afraid I have done that with Walnut, which is why he has become rather lazy. Hopefully it isn't too late for Momotaro II. I just can't let a day go by without giving him some sort of exercise...and I need to lay off on the sugar cubes a bit as well.

The Adventures of Pixie the Pygmy Puff
Entry 1: February 5, 2077
SPOILER!!: Getting to know Pixie
I must confess that even though I got Pixie as a Christmas gift, I haven't really gotten to know her too well yet. I don't know too much about Pygmy Puffs even now, and I've never had one as a pet before. But I'm hopeful that by the time this diary is done, I'll be very familiar with Pixie as well as great friends with her.
I've noticed in class that she seems to be shier than some of the other Puffs, but she still has a personality of her own. She definitely doesn't care for Pygmy Puff bowling, though she still managed to knock a lot of pins down and make me feel proud of her.
I had noticed her shaking wildly after the class, and I took her up to my dormitory, carefully holding her in my hands. I hummed to her and petted her gently and that seemed to calm her down some. So now I know that if she gets upset by something, I can calm her down by doing that.
When she was sufficiently calm, I brushed her hair so that I could get out all the dirt and other bits from her fur. She took it very well. I then took her down to the Great Hall so that we could get something to eat for dinner.
She agreed to behave herself, and I fed her a bit of mashed potatoes. She seemed to like it. But she didn't like the look of the piece of tomato that I then tried to give her. She refused to eat it, so I gave her more potato instead. I will try to find more foods that she likes later on, but for now I know that if nothing else, she likes mashed potatoes.
While Pixie was good during most of dinner last night, she did decide to bounce into my Pumpkin Juice just after I poured some for myself. She got juice all over the table, my plate, and my clothes. Pixie seemed to enjoy it a lot; apparently Pumpkin Juice is fun to swim in AND yummy for Pygmy Puffs.
Since she was now dirty as well as not wanting to leave her new swimming pool, I quickly left the table carrying her in her new environment. I knew that the only thing to do now was give her a bath or she'd be soaking wet and smelling like Pumpkin. Sticky as well I reckon.
After heading to my dormitory and getting me shampoo -- I have to remember to pick some up for Pixie -- it was a trip to the Girls' Bathroom, and bathtime for Pixie!!
She does not like baths. At all.
The whole time I had her in the sink, she splashed around in the water while making these horrible high-pitched squeaking sounds. She tried at least one time to get away from me. Petting her didn't do much to calm her down. Though I will say that she fared a little better while the shampoo was being lathered on. I don't know why, I just know that she quieted a little and was less frantic in her escape attempts.
Bathtime finally finished and Pixie all clean, I dried her off with a washcloth and snuggled her into me. It had been a traumatic experience for her to say the least. I deemed it to be her bedtime after that, and headed back to my dormitory.
Today is a better day for Pixie. I took her out to the Courtyard and sat with her on a bench, stroking her fur while she hummed. I know now that Pixie is a female without a doubt. I realized that her fur while fluffy, isn't as fluffy as some of the other Pygmy Puff's I've felt before in Diagon Alley. I remember learning in class that males are fluffier than females. Add to that the fact that she has a pretty darn high-pitched squeak, which is a characteristic of females as well.
So Pixie is thankfully a female. A good thing, as I wouldn't want to have to come up with another name for my lovely pet.
SPOILER!!: Pixie meets Squeakers/Tries another food
Pixie had a very lazy day yesterday afternoon in the Courtyard, so today I decided that it would be a nice idea to give her a tour of the castle since this place is to be her home until Graduation.
I started down in the Dungeons, and had made my way all the way to the first floor corridor when I literally bumped into Zayden. Pixie went flying and landed on the floor, where she started squeaking like crazy. At first I thought that she had injured herself when she flew out of my hands, but that turned out to not be the case.
Zayden had encountered a Pygmy Puff recently and the Puff decided to follow him around everywhere. Said Puff is also a male (I determined as much for myself by the fact that he's brighter than Pixie and fluffier. He also doesn't have a squeak as high-pitched as Pixie). Both Pixie and Zayden's Puff, Squeakers were going absolutely crazy over each other. There was a lot of bouncing around and squeaking, and I told Zayden that I don't want Pixie having any babies now.
I have my eye on you, Squeakers.
Asking Zayden for a cupcake because I was starting to get hungry, I soon departed with a frantic Pixie and made my way back to the Common Room so that I could eat my snack. All hopes for a tour of the castle have been postponed for the moment.
Pixie was still freaking until the moment she saw the cupcake. I could tell she was curious, so I broke off a piece and offered it to her. She seemed to really like the icing, but wouldn't touch the cupcake. I can add icing to the list of foods she likes. And I suppose cupcakes to the foods she doesn't care for.
SPOILER!!: Pixie meets Nurfball/We get some exercise
Pixie definitely seems to have a certain appeal to the opposite gender.
She was in the middle of enjoying some more of the icing from the delicious cupcake Zayden gave me when something happened to cause me to almost have a heart attack right then and there.
A giant ball of fluff leaped at my poor Pixie and knocked her to the ground before it started to bounce around her while making squeaking sounds. Clearly it was another Pygmy Puff, and I soon realized that said Puff belongs to Alyssa. Since she is one of my friends, I didn't mind in the least the bouncing and the squeaking. The two Puffs seemed to be getting along amazingly.
I made the observation that Nurfball seemed to be a male based on his lower-pitched squeaks. An observation that was solidified when he decided to bounce on top of my sweet Pixie.
Of course Alyssa grabbed her excited Puff and reprimanded him. I snatched up Pixie and saw to my relief that she was okay. No harm done, and we figured that he might possibly have been trying to breed with her. We have no idea how breeding works with Puffs, but still... it's rather interesting and unsettling.
I have my eyes on you as well, Nurfball.
After saying goodbye to Alyssa and Nurfball, we headed off to bed to get some sleep after an interesting day. Imagine; she made two male friends in one day!
Today is not as interesting for Pixie, but she did get some exercise and a nice treat as a reward.
I had packed away some of the remaining cupcake from Zayden in a bag. I planned to use it as an incentive to get her to jog with me. Placing the bag in my pocket, I grabbed Pixie and headed down to the Pathways with her.
After setting the excited Puff on the ground, I proceeded to take out the cupcake and scoop some icing onto my finger before putting it back in my pocket. Jogging away from her, I let her bounce after me while making sure not to go too fast for her. We covered the whole circuit before finally stopping.
Pixie got the reward of licking yummy icing off of my finger for being a good girl.
Since yesterday was an exercise day for me and Pixie, I thought that today would be a great day to give her a small personal concert. It was a fitting ending to this assignment I feel, and she enjoyed it a lot.
I belted out some Adele to her, and I think that later on I'll add some more Adele songs in other concerts. She needs to be brought up on Adele. Adele, and Bon Jovi. But just as long as it's not LMFAO I think we are all good. I just need to make sure that she stays away from Zayden when he's in charge of the music.
Anyway, she loved the little concert I gave her in the corridor, and she bounced and squeaked when it was over. Clearly Pygmy Puffs like being sang to just like humans do. Or at least mine does. I now know another way to make her happy.
I really learned a lot about Pixie through doing this diary. Through taking care of her and observing everything. I know some of the foods she likes now. I will discover more later on and add them to my list I am making for her. I know that she likes when I pet her and hum. She likes when I sing. She hates having baths.
We have started to bond, and she doesn't struggle in my hands so much now unless something startles her. We are more comfortable with each other, and she even has licked my hands from time to time, and I don't mean when I have cupcake frosting on them. I think this is a sign of affection, like how cats and and dogs do.
Our relationship is changing now and Pixie is changing. She is becoming more social as she has made more friends. She seems to like the idea of making friends, and I will try to get her out with the other Puffs as much as possible -- as long as they have good intentions with her. I still don't want any baby Pygmy Puffs roaming around Hogwarts, and I don't think I'm going to want any baby Pygmy Puffs for a while.
I like the idea of this diary as it helped me to get to know my lovely pet some more. I think that I will try to keep up with all this as best I can even with the upcoming NEWTS. I will make time for my sweet Pixie.

TITLE: PROJECT NERFBALL: THE SECRET FILES
Entry 1: February 5th 2077
SPOILER!!: Hello Nerfball
Today we got a chance to work with Pygmy Puffs. I found my cute little friend, Nerfball. I've never had a Pygmy Puff as a pet before mainly because they are such cute little creatures and I'm known to be kind of rough with things that are fragile. But the Professor seems to have enough of trust in us, so here I am with Nerfball. We learnt alot of stuff while we were in Care of Magical Creatures Class. We learned how to figure out the gender of a Pygmy Puff plus what it likes to eat, although I still having trouble figuring out what gender Nerfball is. But I hope that by the time I have to return Nerfball that I'll know whether he's a she or she's a he.
We had fun playing the bowling game, although Nerfball was a little bit over enthusiastic when I told him to knock down as many pins as possible in exchange for my nose boogers. He knocked down every one of them in our lane, INCLUDING all the other lanes!! I managed to chase him down but that was so embarrassing. I have to say though that Nerfball definitely seems to understand what I'm saying to him/her. There's intelligence inside that tiny head of a Pygmy Puff. Anyway, I brought him up to my girl's dorm room where I decided to clean him up after all that rolling around on the floor. He/She didn't seem to like water. I wonder is it because it's afraid of drowning. Anyway, he fell in the waterbowl but thank goodness I was able to fish him out immediately. One thing I also know. He loves to be rubbed on his tummy because he fell asleep as I was drying him up. That's all for tonight. He's fast asleep right now.
I noticed that Nerfball was feeling a little gloomy. I suspected that he/she was feeling lonely and missing his/her other friends, so I decided to look for my housemate, Nessie, who had a Pygmy Puff of her own. I was lucky that she was sitting in the Common Room and that Puffles was with her. I introduced Nerfball to Puffles and they played together. They must have been having fun because they were squeeking alot. It was then that I noticed that they both made the same low tone squeek. I knew that Puffles was a male.
But I still needed firm confirmation of his gender which I found out later when Amelia came in with her female Pygmy Puff, Pixie. Nerfball went absolutely beserk. He was squeeking and rolling aroun with her. He actually at one point started bouncing on her repeatedly. I quickly had to grab him before he ended up hurting Pixie. Is this their way of procreating? I will have to ask the Professor when I report my findings to him. But one thing I definitely know for sure now. Nerfball is definitely without a doubt, a male Pygmy Puff.
Today I decided that since we were having breakfast, that I would try feeding Nerfball more food to see which ones he would eat, and which ones he wouldn't. He seems to like all the food that we humans like to eat. In fact, I think that Pygmy Puffs will eat anything...except for paper. I first thought that he would like it but he ended up making a spit ball out of it and almost hit a Hufflepuff girl with it!!. Thank goodness the spit ball missed her. I gave him two new things on the list, breadcrumbs and raisins, and he did seemed to love that too. So I added it the list that Taylor and I had created during our Care of Magical Creatures class. As for the grass, dead rats and worms, I will try to see whether Nerfball will eat them, if I can find some at the Creatures Sanctuary when I go there tomorrow to help take care of the creatures there.
Well today, was the day for me to go work in the Magical Creatures Sanctuary. I heard that Professor Williamson had recently acquired a lobalug which was now living in the pond out in the Sanctuary and the Professor needed help taking care of it. So I decided to go there to first see what it looked like and then second to feed it.
While I was checking in the food bin supplies, I felt a movement in my jacket pocket. I reached in to find...guess who...Nerfball. The last time I checked on him, he was sleeping in my sock drawer. I guess he must have woken up and sneaked into my jacket pocket while I was getting ready to come out here. Anyway, I figured that since I had him there, that I would finish up on the list of food that he would either eat or not. I first introduced him to a worm, which he definitely ignored. Is my Pygmy Puff acquiring a higher class for taste and is getting picky about what he eats?
Anyway, I decided to try feeding him a dead rat. Yes, I know that a rat is larger than him and that he would most probably want to eat it but I still had to eliminate it off my list. Well I frightened the heck out of Nerfball when he saw it, and I felt really bad about it. So I decided to go back to small stuff. I fished out a handful of dead bugs, and he definitely seemed to like it because he started humming his low hum which always tells me when he's happy and satisfied.
Well I had one more thing to feed him. Grass. He ate some of it but refused the rest. I'm not sure whether that's because he was full from eating too much or that he ate grass but that it wasn't his favorite. Anyway I'm done with test feeding him now, unless he pounces on something that is not on my list and eats it. I have more or less figured out what he does and does not like to eat.
We are coming to the end of the week. This means that soon I will have to return Nerfball back to the Sanctuary. During this one week, I have learned so much about him. What he likes and doesn't like. How much he loves to play with his friends and how differently he acts with males and females of his kind. I also learned that Nerfball has a very, very long tongue, because while I was taking a nap earlier, I felt something moving in my nose. I woke up to find a tongue that reached all the way to my sock drawer!! It was Nerfball looking for nose boogies. I never knew how long Nerfball's tongue was until now. How does he keep that all rolled up inside him? Anyway I gave him what he wanted. I still had the sniffles, so I blew into a tissue and gave my snot for him to taste. Yech! I will still never get over how disgusting that is.
Anyway, I've discovered that Nerfball really doesn't like to get wet. I wonder Pygmy Puffs are somehow related to cats, because cats don't like getting wet too. I will need to ask the Professor about that. I brushed Nerfball which he seemed to like a lot because he started humming his low hum. As I sat on the bed, brushing him and playing with him, I got really sad because I realized that, even though it has only been a week, I was growing to love having Nerfball around. I admit I started to cry, and Nerfball seemed to sense my sadness, because he climbed up to my face, poked my nose with his and licked my tears away. It was then I decided that I would ask Professor Williamson whether I could keep him. I asked Nerfball whether it was okay with him, and he seemed to agree. So here's hoping that the Professor will agree too.

A Cloud Amongst the Stars
Entry 1: February 5, 2077
SPOILER!!: introducing everyone
Even before going to Care of Magical Creatures today, I'd thought about getting a pygmy puff, so meeting Nuage during the lesson was really interesting. Honestly, I'm curious if I can convince Professor Williamson to keep it, but at least making sure I take good care of the little pygmy puff is a good first step. I'm not letting hate potion get anywhere near it, though. Bad experiences, and I'm already rather attached. Of course, there's the matter of my cat, too, so that was the first task I wanted to make sure I got done. Nuage didn't seem hungry yet or anything, so it seemed like good timing to introduce the two. I still remember what happened last term when I got my tiger during the Charms final, after all, and I didn't want a replay. Nuage isn't quite as resilient as a charmed metal tiger after all, so Lyra's claws might do damage.
Anyway, for the most part Lyra hasn't left my dorm this term, so that was the place I was going to look first. Plus, that way Nuage could see where it is going to be staying for a while, so it worked in more than one way. The puff seemed happy, humming the entire climb up to the Ravenclaw common room while perched on my shoulder, but things got more worrisome once we arrived and I verified that my kitty in fact was on my bed. I didn't think anything would happen while I was there to supervise, but Nuage didn't know that. The humming raised in pitch, almost sounding panicked, as soon as puff eyes met cat eyes, but I tried reassuring it that nothing would happen. Of course, I didn't exactly know that, but Lyra's usually pretty good at listening to me. All she did was sort of smell Nuage, look at me, and then return to her sleep. I petted Nuage a little, calming it down again, but in any case I think everything is going to be alright.
I can't neglect my studies, even if I'm also supposed to be learning more about Nuage and how to care for it. Eventually I'll need to figure out if it's a girl, but right now History of Magic comes first. I'm fairly certain it is, anyhow, but I'll really investigate later. In any case, I'd thought about leaving Nuage in the dorm with Lyra, as I'm fairly certain my cat won't hurt it. That wouldn't be really caring for it, though, so I decided to bring Nuage to the library with me. Besides, if it's really (sort of) my pygmy puff, it should get used to me reading and studying. I do still have exams to worry about, even if NEWTs aren't until next term. At least it seems to like riding around on my shoulder, as the humming doesn't seem to stop. That makes me happy, even if sometimes it reminds me of what was said last term when we studied the hate potion in Potions. When Professor Lafay said pygmy puffs will love you as soon as you pet them, and had offered them to test the potions on.
Anyway, I got to the library with Nuage safely, then went into the shelves to look for a specific book, pygmy puff still on my shoulder and humming. Amusingly, I think it knew that we're supposed to stay quiet in the library, though, because the humming got quieter as soon as we were inside the stacks. I found the book, and ended up just sitting on the floor to read it, puff still on my shoulder. It seemed like that wasn't enough, though, as soon I found it sneaking down my arm and then it sat directly on top of the library book so I couldn't see the page I was reading. Apparently Nuage has a bit of a dust allergy, too, because it sneezed as soon as it settled on the book. That's interesting to know, as I didn't know pygmy puffs could have allergies, but anyway, I made a deal with it. That it would let me study for a while and then I would play, and it actually seemed to listen, even though it crawled back into my lap as soon as I picked the book back up. Another note: Pygmy puffs know how to compromise.
After I decided I'd had enough studying for the day, I realized that I hadn't eaten since breakfast. Plus, Nuage hadn't eaten either, and after making it sneeze with library books and not paying any attention other than petting it while I read, feeding it would be as good an idea as feeding myself. Especially as so far the only food I'd seen Nuage eat was some of Lyra's cat food, therefore figuring out more that it liked would come in useful. Plus, maybe I could once and for all decide if it is a girl. I'd thought it was, but between worrying about my cat getting along with the pygmy puff and then studying, I had sort of forgotten to really investigate. Food first, though, so after returning the puff to its perch on my shoulder, we headed down to the Great Hall.
Once I got to the Ravenclaw table, Nuage moved to the table as I got food for myself. Then, I started going over what I knew about pygmy puffs, and my own specifically. The color, the fur length... I couldn't quite use tongue length as a signifier, as I hadn't really seen Nuage's tongue yet, but that quickly got remedied. Apparently pygmy puffs like mashed potatoes, as Nuage rolled right onto my plate, into the middle of the mashed potatoes I'd served myself, and started licking. I wasn't about to eat them myself after that, so I let her continue licking while I finished the rest of my food. (Yes, by then I was pretty certain that Nuage is a girl puff) But, after that, it was time to head back upstairs. At least potatoes aren't very messy, as for the most part I could just flick her fur clean with my hand as I fished her out, but I'll probably need to give her a bath soon. For now, though, I think it's time for more homework, and then bed.
I'd thought I'd gotten all the mashed potatoes off of Nuage, but it seemed I'd been mistaken. I wouldn't have thought pale lavender could hide mashed potato, but apparently it can. In any case, I woke up to find Nuage trying to snake her tongue around to eat little bits of dried up potato, and that was not alright with me. Pygmy puffs might be fine with eating old food, snot, any of that, but I didn't want Nuage doing that. Instead, I decided she needed a bath. I've never given a pygmy puff a bath before, but I have given Lyra a bath. Hopefully Nuage wouldn't be quite as upset by it as my cat always is. I guess I'd find out, because I wasn't about to continue letting her eat old food off her own fur.
Taking Lyra's shampoo with me on my trek to the bathroom, everything seemed perfectly alright until I tried putting Nuage in the sink, which I'd already filled with a few inches of water. she tried climbing up my arm, but on a second try, I got her into the water. She wasn't exactly happy, though, and I had to keep her from trying another escape attempt while I retrieved the shampoo bottle. She seemed to like once I started rubbing shampoo into her fur though, as she started humming again. Maybe she just thought I was petting her. I don't really know, but after that things went fine. I rinsed the bubbles out, getting the icky food particles out along with them, then dried and brushed her until she was all sparkly clean and pretty again. I'm definitely going to try and not let her get into my food again, anyway, but at least bathtime wasn't as difficult as I'd expected.
A week definitely isn't enough. I feel like I understand Nuage more, and she understands me, but I still wish I'd be able to keep her. We got through adventures with food (I still won't let her near mashed potatoes if I have some on my plate. Although I'll feed her little bits of them.), bathtime, stress with worrying if Lyra will accept her... All of it has gone perfectly fine, but I feel like I could understand so much more if I got to keep her for longer. In any case, today was another day for us to just explore, get some exercise. I'd hoped to find more people with their pygmy puffs, so Nuage could socialize with her kind again, but it seemed like everyone was in hiding. Nuage didn't care, happy and humming on my shoulder like always. I think she really likes it there. I don't know if she likes curling up behind my hair or what, but she's usually humming when I have her on my shoulder. There's something she really likes about being there.
Anyway, I was going to head outside, get some fresh air and let Nuage get some too, but I stopped at the hourglasses for a moment. I showed Nuage which one was Ravenclaw's, and just kind of talked to her a bit, mostly about how I still think we can manage to win the House Cup. I think she understood me, too, because the humming changed for a moment. It was almost like she was reassuring me, letting me know she believed that it was possible too. I'm not sure, but at least that's what it seemed like. The humming went back to normal after the moment was finished, in any case, and we headed outside for a walk. At least I know she's happy with me for now, and maybe for longer. Even if she has to stay with the others in the sanctuary for a bit, which will be good since that means pygmy puff time. I'll always remember her, and I hope we'll be able to find each other always.

[The Adventures of Flippert]
SPOILER!!: squeeeky clean, Feb, 12th 2077
I discovered that Pygmy Puffs are very independant creatures, well at least Flippert is because when I took him into the bathroom today, he managed to wash himself in the sink, and even pushed down the plug by himself. He also found his own water to drink from the tap as I washed my hands. Its like I don't even have too feed him or take care of him, Flippert can do it all himself. Im only needing to feed him things because of this assignment!
He is a bit of a showoff. I wanted to get him involved socially with some other Pygmes puffs but it turned out that no other Slytherins had one on hand! But I did discover that pygmy's have the same colour saliva as their fur! I never read that in any books, so I think it may be a new discovery. Because I mean, wizards don't of tend see pygmy spit cause their tongues are like little tubes inside of their mouths. And pygmy's don't seem to drool or spit that regularaly, and the mouth tube is so small it would be so hard to see inside of. So I conclude that Flippert needs some social interaction, and pygmy's have coloured spit. Slytherin Common Room Girl's Washroom

SPOILER!!: Run to the light, Feb 13th 2077
After my failed attenpt to get Flippert to socialise, I took him down to the secret passage.
He was able to run to the end of the passage and back in one minute and twenty eight seconds. Im not sure how long the passage was, but when I walked down there it felt like I was walking forever. Maybe the passage had a spell on it that makes it seem like it is longer then it looks (well it is secret). Or maybe Pygmy Puffs are naturaly really fast runners. They would have to be, because they are so small and light, plus in the wild they'd need to run away from predators. Although not many Pygmy Puffs live in the wild anymore because us wizards want to keep them as pets. Secret Passage

SPOILER!!: Ducky Duck likes chocolate like MEEEEE~
After the CoMC lesson i had forgotten about taking care of my Pygmy Puff to be honest! I had also forgotten to take care of the egg we had last year in Charms....that had been charms right? But i had only forgotten about him...her...it... for two days so thats not long!
My Pygmy Puff is named Ducky Duck because ducks rule and since Professor Murdoch forbid me to take care of the ducks at the pond i decided to name my Pygmy puff like that. i'm a geniousgenios genius! Ducky Duck has grey fluffy fur and is super adorable!
So a few days after class i decided to take Ducky Duck with me to the study tables. I was a little behind on my homework so i tried to concentrate on it. I had orginally planned to check what Ducky Duck likes to eat in the Great Hall but it seemed i found my answer at the study tables already. The chocolate i had taken from the Great Hall was food that Ducky Duck liked and it literally attacked me to get a piece!
Another day passed and i found out that Ducky Duck not only liked chocolate but also lettuce, apples and pudding. I wonder if it doesn't make it sick though...
But it seemed that Ducky Duck is in good shape and doesn't get sick from the human food. Today i decided to take Ducky Duck with me to the library. I sat down in one of the comfortable chairs at the back by the window and my Puff was sleeping on my lap. It was super adorable! While it was sleeping, i thought it would be a good time to check what the gender of Ducky Duck was because i hadn't found it out in class. I found out after a few minutes that Ducky Duck is a female. Which i thought was weird because i always thought she was a male.. But apparently females have darker colores and mine is grey. When she squeakes she lets out high pitched sounds unlike the low humming from a male and she isn't as fluffly as the males but she is still very fluffy to me~

Getting to Know Barnabus: A Pygmy Puff Study
Entry 1: Friday, February 5th 2077
SPOILER!!: Warming up to eachother
After meeting Barnabus in Professor Williamson's pygmy puff lesson, I knew we shared a special bond. Barnabus, like me, is not a trouble maker. He behaved himself in class even though I knew he was itching to join the other pygmy puffs in their mating calls or uprising attempts, whichever it was. Barnabus also worked well with the other pygmy puffs in our bowling group, showing that he is a social being. He didn't even put up a fight when another puff in the group was appointed captain. Instead, he worked hard to knock down as many pins as he could. I was proud to have him as my temporary puff.
After class, I decided it would be nice to take Barnabus out for some fresh air. We headed down to the Courtyard to spend some time getting to know eachother. On the way there, I noticed that Barny likes it best when he's riding on my shoulder. He sits upon my shoulder like it is his throne, just watching the world go by. He never looks as happy when I'm holding him in my hands or putting him on my head, something I'm wary of now that I know some pygmy puffs pull hair. I wanted to note his preference for transporatation so I can make him feel more comfortable while he's staying with me.
When we got to the Courtyard, I decided to take out some chocolate and have myself a snack. This seemed to excite Barnabus and I was curious to see if he would like some too. When I placed the chocolate near him, his tongue immediately went for it! He really enjoyed it and I couldn't help but feel a kinship with him because I too have a sweet tooth. This experience taught me that Barny loves chocolate but I plan on keeping him healthy while I have him so this won't be an everyday treat.
Lastly, while we were sitting in the courtyard, I started to pet Barnabus on the top of his head, gently. While doing this, I heard a faint sound, kind of like purring. Then, Barny appeared to be getting sleepy and relaxed. His little eyes kept opening and closing, the way a human's would when they are ready to go to bed. It was adorable. I assume that this petting action was the cause of his sleepiness and will have to further investigate whether or not this is an appropriate way to get Barnabus to sleep. I will look into this more at a later date.

SPOILER!!: Food Tasting
Barnabus and I have been getting along really well since the class where we met. He seems quite comfortable with me and has been my constant companion. I decided it would be wise to figure out some of the things that he likes to eat and went down to the kitchens to gather different types of food. I decided on a banana, a cookie, a piece of broccoli, a cookie, a pickle, and a piece of chicken. I thought this was a varied enough selection. Bringing the plate back to the Hufflepuff common room, I had Barnabus do a little taste test. I was eager to find out what his preferences were for food, not that I had high expectations, he does eat snott afterall.
When I set Barny down in front of the plate of food, he immediately went for the cookie. This was interesting to me because I already knew he liked chocolate and this further supports my idea that he has a sweet tooth. After the cookie, Barnabus was introduced to the banana. He seemed to question the fruit at first, eying it suspiciously. After a few minutes he did try it though, seeming to enjoy the taste. I was glad because a pygmy puff living on sweets alone cannot be healthy. After the banana, Barny tried both the chicken and the pickle. He enjoyed both without having much of a reaction to either. I guess these are foods that he tolerates but neither are his favorite. Lastly, I wanted Barnabus to try the broccoli. This is where we had a problem.
When I set Barnabus down in front of the broccoli, he was not at all happy. He rolled his little body into a bowl and took off, towards the other side of the room. I was startled by this and took off after him. I can't help but wonder if he only dislikes broccoli or has a general dislike of vegetables. I cannot say I really blame him on the broccoli issue though. It's not my favorite food either. I will have to investigate the vegetable issue further in the time we have left together. One thing is for sure, Barnabus can eat a lot.

SPOILER!!: Bathtime with Barny
After all the food tasting I had done with Barnabus, I started to notice that he was smelling like pickle juice. I, enjoying pickles greatly, did not mind the smell at first but eventually I could no longer take it. I decided that it was time to give Barnabus a bath, unsure of how he would react to the experience. I used only water and a wash cloth for this, not wanting to hurt him by using soap or shampoo. I wasn't sure if his body would react well to either of those. It was clear right away that he was not a fan of the idea as he became very nervous, shaking and squeaking. I tried my best to sooth him but it didn't work.
After placing Barny into the water, I noticed that he continued to be upset. He didn't seem to like being in the water so I placed him on my hand and then into the liquid, trying to calm him. This didn't work so I did my best to move quickly, washing his body by scooping handfuls of water over his head. Once I removed him from the bath, I towel dried him and he did not seem pleased with me. I can't help but wonder how pygmy puffs get clean when they are on their own. Perhaps they use their tongues like cats and dogs do? I'll have to read up on that to find out. All I know is next time Barnabus needs a cleaning I'll need to find a different approach.

SPOILER!!: Playdate with the Puffskeins
Since the last time I made an entry, I felt it was important to let Barnabus do some socializing. He seemed kind of bored with just me for company and I thought since the barnyard was now open to students, I would bring him there and let him play with the puffskeins. I think he was excited about this because when I talked to him about it he kept making lots of squeaking noises. So much so that several times I had to tell him to quiet down, didn't want a detention after all.
When we got to the barnyard, Barny continued to squeak and it was becoming more frequent the closer we got to the puffskeins. I noted that this behavior was quite similar to the behavior of the pygmy puffs in class when they were around eachother. I took it to mean that Barnabus knew he was in the company of his own kind and he was happy about it. I didn't really know how the puffskeins would react to him but I knew they were in the same family of creatures and figured it would be good to see how they reacted to one another, that's when I placed Barnabus into the pen with them.
Immediately, Barnabus attracted the attention of the puffskeins. The larger puffs began to hum rather loudly and at first I was startled by this. I didn't understand their reaction and wondered if I had done something wrong by placing Barny in the pen with them. Barnabus seemed at ease though, humming along with the rest of them and even approaching the largest puffskein. I wonder if that one was a female, especially since pygmy puff females tend to be larger than the males. I had a mini heart attack when Barnabus seemed to disappear into the puffskein. I thought that maybe "she" had eaten them the way guniea pigs do to their young sometimes. Luckily, after a minor freak out, Barnabus appeared again. He was simply cuddling with the puffskein, perfectly content.
I think that this experience in the barn taught me a lot of things. First, I learned that Barnabus is quite brave. He approached the larger puffskeins with confidence and they seemed to accept him. I also learned that maybe pygmy puffs need to be socialized a lot because he seemed much happier among other creatures than he is with just me. Next, I learned that mating season is probably approaching because Barnabus seems quite smitten with the large puffskein in the Barnyard. I think I'll have to make it my mission to find him a pygmy puff he likes though. I don't want the puffskein to crush him or anything. Hopefully I can introduce Barnabus to more creatures with the little time we have left together.
---------------------- Entry 5: Saturday February 13, 2077
SPOILER!!: Gender facts, a play date, and reflection
After seeing how social Barnabus was with the puffskeins, I decided it would be entertaining for him to meet another pygmy puff. I met up with Logan at the Topiary Gardens and his Puff, Cap, met Barny for the first time. The two seemed to like eachother as Barnabus squeaked wildly at Cap and Cap came over and snuggled up against Barny. It was like they had been friends for years. I think that Barnabus is a particularly friendly puff because he genuinely seems to get along with most creatures that he has encountered, even if they don't like him. That was the case with my owl Jasper who I really think wanted to eat Barnabus. Good thing I stepped in...
When I was letting Barny and Cap play, I was able to share some of my knowledge about pygmy puffs and how to tell their gender. I told Logan that he should look at the brightness of his puff, the fluffiness, the size of the puffs body, and even the length of its tongue. I also went as far as to mention that one could search for the parts of the puff but I don't really want to get into that. I can't imagine going on that kind of search. It would be incredibly uncomfortable for me and Barny. In any case, I was happy to share what I had learned with Logan so he can use the information if he wants.
I'm pretty sad that Barnabus and I will have to be saying our goodbyes soon. I feel like we've become really close in a short time, bonding over our mutual love of sweets and socializing. I also think that Barny was nice company because his disposition always seemed to be positive, even if mine was not. I do think that my relationship with him kind of changed along the way. At first I felt like he was a little buddy of mine, he was so cute and precious and I just wanted to cuddle him. As time went on, I felt myself acting more like a mother to him. I was more concerned with his behavior and wanted to keep him safe and healthy and clean. I guess my mom would be proud of how I've been acting but me, well I'm not ready to be a mom yet! It's hard work! I also can't seem to get past the fact that Barnabus enjoys eating the things that live inside my nose. I can't even explain how yucky it makes me feel and I swear I would die if I ever woke up to find him feasting on boogers! That is something we will continue to be at odds about. One thing is for sure, I'll miss the little guy! I hope I can continue to visit him and watch out for him. I did become quite fond of the little fella. I also would like to see if he pursues his love of the large puffskein that he met in the barn. I know he would like to see her again...Ultimately, I had a lot of fun doing this assignment and learning about pygmy puffs and how it is to take care of them!

When a Squeak Is Said
Entry 1: March 3nd, 2012
SPOILER!!: A sleeping match
I had just gotten Squeaky from COMC, it was an honor that the Professor trusted us much to take care of animals outside of class. I had named my pygmy puff Sapphira Eventide or James Eventide, I ended giving her the nickname Squeaky, because she squeaked so much. Squeaky and me came to the conclussion I would only use Sapphira/James when I got mad at her. I noticed that Squeaky had pale green fur and that her squeak was super high, so she deffinetaly wasnt a male, she was 100% female! Squeaky's behavior had changed from when she was in the class then when she was with me. She was more comfortable and a bit less hyper in the class, now she was curious and hyper. Squeaky and me ended up seeing who would fall asleep first....I am sad to say I lost, she beat me big time!
Im finishing this before she wakes up, so I can feed her right when she wakes up.

SPOILER!!: Cauldron Cakes and Pumpkin Juice-Squeaky's food
I took Squeaky to the Ravenclaw Table to give her some food. I had remembered some things that Alyssa had said that Pygmy Puffs liked, I tried giving Squeaky some black pudding but she didnt like that. While she sat on my shoulder I got myself some food, Cauldron Cakes and Pumpkin Juice. I had gotten out a little cup from my purse and had gotten some Pumpkin Juice in it for her. When I had set my Cauldron Cake on my golden cake, I didnt expect little Squeakyto become Pygmy Ninja...She had somehow crawled down my shoulder without me knowing and ended up eating my Cauldron Cake. She had finished the Pumpkin Juice I had given her in her little cup and I was happy to see me and my Squeaky had something in common- our food taste, Cauldron Cakes and Pumpkin Juice were also my favorite things to eat too. When it was time to leave the table, Squeaky had eaten 2 and 1/2 Cauldron Cups and 10 little cups of Pumpkin Juice. I was happy to have something as cute as her...
Well I have to go and keep a watchful eye on Squeaky, shes moving around on the table now.,

SPOILER!!: Squeaky likes getting wet
By the end of eating the Cauldron Cakes, Squeaky was covered with chocolate! I took her to the girls bathroom ready to get her clean...I knew I had to do it fast because Pygmy Puffs dont like water. I had filled up the sink and begun washing Squeaky, when the soap fell out of my hands. Lets just say Squeaky wasnt there when I stood up. I searched alll over the entire Girls Bathroom, I knew she couldnt have gotten out, so I didnt worry about that, I mean how could she, she couldnt open a door could she? When I had returned to my sink there she was. She was swimming to be exact! It was a nice suprise to see a Pygmy Puff liking water, it was easier then I thought it would be. I ended up scolding her, I even used her real name, Sapphira. I know it wasnt really something to scold her about, but honestly she could have gotten hurt! She looked cute and all with the chocolate in her hair but she looked even prettier without the chocolate, just her light green fur.
Lets hope she doesnt try to go swim in the lake with the Giant Squid...
Signed Nerida Eventide (:
SPOILER!!: Meeting the family puffies and trying some fruit!
I took Squeaky to the courtyard to meet my brothers pygmy puffs, Kaven and Coven. Kaven and Coven immediatly went all flirty puff on her (squeaking like crazy and fur puffed up), and at one time she escaped into the water and lots of time climbed on objects and plants. When my sister, Sarassi arrived I introduced Squeaky to Saraphine. The two girl pygmy puffs seemed to hit it off like two teenage girls. After they had gotten to know each other, I began to start an excercise. I used four strawberries and four mini-mangos for the reward for the first excercise and then kept on repeating the excercise but this time with Blackberries, Blueberries and Raspberries. I learned that Squeaky doesnt like Mangos and Blueberries, but she does like raspberries and blackberries and strawberies!
Shes taking Kraven's strawberries now..
I have to go and solve this problem...

SPOILER!!: day one
I like to think that I know my pygmy puff very well. He's purple. And fuzzy. And I know he's a HEEE because he agrees with me. Besides, his name is Kent, and I'm pretty sure that's a guy's name. Anyways, it's been a day after the whole lesson thingy and Kent is doing fantabulously... other than the little fact that he STILL eats snot. I tried feeding him chocolate this time, instead of putting him in the bread basket... but the chocolate melted. And he didn't lick any of it. Not even the chocolate ON him. Do you understand how weird it is waking up in the middle of the night with a pygmy puff's tongue up your nose? Psht. It gave a whole new meaning to midnight snack. I wonder if Kent would eat boogies covered in chocolate... hmm.. I'll have to try that some time.
So Kent was on my head again. Today he decided to roll off of it. It wasn't fun. Especially since I trained him practically ALL of last year to balance on my head. Not my shoulder. The king of all pygmy puffs can't be COMMON and sit on a shoulder like every other pygmy puff. He was unique. Of course, Professor, you copied me so now he isn't so special. I now have to teach Kent how to do CARTWHEELS or something EPIC on my head. Maybe I can teach him how to sing. Can pygmy puffs sing? I think that I'll let Kent sleep in the chocolate basket tonight. That way he might eat some of the chocolate... ewwwwh... Clarke is totally trying to lick the chocolate off of Kent. I have to get Clarke before he does it... or he'll get sick. And probably Kent as well. I wonder what chocolate fur tastes like. Don't wanna try it. I'll find a firstie to try it some time.

The Amazing Adventures of the Amazing Minnie
Entry 1: February 8th, 2077
SPOILER!!: meeting and naming Minnie
I brought my pygmy puff up to my dorm right away because I was excited to get to know it better. I had yet to find out it's gender because I hadn't figured it out during class. Once we got to my dorm I experimented by giving it some chocolate. It accepted right away by shooting a very long tongue out and grabbing the chocolate. Based on what I learned in class I concluded that it was a girl, and this lovely girl pygmy puff liked chocolate. I plan to stock up on chocolate in the future for her.
Next I decided to give her a name and began spouting off a bunch of different names, Puff, May, and Minnie. I wasn't exactly sure what her name was going to be yet. She began to jump up and down, or more bounce, at the last name I said, Minnie. I have decided that her name is Minnie. Minnie the chocolate loving pygmy puff. Hopefully I will be able to take her to dinner today or tomorrow and find out what other types of food she likes. Hopefully Minnie will eat some healthy food because I don't want a super unhealthy pygmy puff.

Text Cut: Naming and starting to feed
The first day with Lavender was fun. It is such a sweet and cute Pygmy Puff! It doesn't make a lot of noise and doesn't give too much work (at least for now), which is good! I decided to name it Lavender because of its color. It was the first thing I noticed about her (it's a girl, I found that out in class) and it was what made me pick her. Lavender is a pretty flower and this Lavender Pygmy Puff is really really cute, so I figured that was a good name for her!

Today I took Lavender to have lunch with me. She really eats almost everything (exept for lettuce, she didn't like it at all), but she seemed to have a sweet tooth! It has eaten everything sweet I offered. Althought she didn't dislike salty food. I guess Lavender is not picky with food, which is also good. She's turning out to be an awesome and easy-to-take-care-of pet!
I had a Transfiguration assignment and decided to take Lavender with me to the Students Garden to pick some flowers to put on my vases! We had so much fun! I'm glad Lavender likes flowers as much as I do. Now I'm sure she loves the name I chose for her! She is a really quiet Pygmy Puff, but she made a lot of noise while we were working, so I figure she liked it a lot.
Oh, and the list of things she eats is still growing!
Well, Lavender didn't seem to like taking a bath all that much, but it was quiet and a good girl! I told her that she would feel all nice and clean after the bath and she agreed and behaved. After it, she was indeed all fluffy and cute and both of us enjoyed it! (I think...)
Last night we had our own little party in the girls dormitory and the Pygmy Puffs joined us! Lavender taste a couple of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans and loved them all. Probably even the nasty flavoured ones! She wasn't picky and ate all of the ones I offered her. I guess that means she can eat pretty much anything then! She doesn't care about taste. Maybe she cares more about the consistency of the food instead of the taste?
Also, it was the day for her to socialize. She got to know Laura's, Ella's and Carigan's Pygmy Puffs. Lavender seemed to be quite lazy and didn't feel like walking around to meet them, but I think she enjoyed herself!

The Adventures of Boy; the Pygmy Puff
Entry 1: February 6, 2077
Text Cut: Getting to know...It.
I chose a violet-ish colored pygmy puff. It kind of looks a bit more blue-ish, but I think I'm color blind. Anyway, it's really laid back and chill. A bit too much if you ask me. I decided to start my journal a day after the lesson. I was at the library and took...Boy with me. He'd been sleeping the entire day, so I figured, if most things bored him, then maybe he'd enjoy the library like me.
When we were at the study tables, it just slept. I really tried to interact with it, but all it did was turn around and continue sleeping. Then, when I became to persistent, it bit the eraser off my pencil and...ate it. Is it safe for pygmy puffs to eat erasers? I don't think they're toxic. After that, it just went back to sleep.
I still don't know the gender, so I'm swinging it and assuming its a boy...for now.
Entry 2: Date
Build on the first entry and explain how you've been looking after your pygmy puff. Try some of the things mentioned above, such as discovering your puff's gender or dietary habits.
Entry 5: Date
Build on the previous and explain how you've been looking after your pygmy puff. Have you two bonded any? Made any progress? Changed any? Be detailed, as you will likely be asked to share these observations in class as well.

The wondrous ways of Hendrix the Purple Pest Pygmy Puff
Entry 1: Feb 5th
SPOILER!!: This
Hendrix is a small pygmy puff, roughly the size of a pocket sneakoscope. Her fur takes up most of her mass, as I examined her in class the main part of her body doesnt seem to be any bigger than a mouse. Her fur is a shade of deep purple, which was one of the darkest compared to the other pygmy puffs in class. Given that observation plus her less aggressive behavior in comparison to other pygmy puffs leads me to believe that Hendrix is female.
Although I noticed how this particular pygmy puff has a tendency to horde, given how she tried to "lasso" every bowling pin with her tongue, collecting them as she rolled along across alleys. She may also have some difficulty following instructions but then perhaps this was due to confusion and might behave better when she is not surrounded with so many pygmy puffs.
She also seems to be quite observant and helpful, like she helped me leaf through the pages of my book while I was reviewing. Scratch that. She was trying to eat the pages of my book.
Hendrix seem to have a preference for places where she would feel secure. During the last class she would always bury herself in the pockets or folds of my robes. When I was doing homework I noticed how she loved to position herself between corners of walls or windows or at the bottom of this large vase I was working on. At this point I cant tell if its a nesting habit indicative of certain female species or if its really part of the nature of any Pygmy Puff.
Or maybe its defensive behavior. She seems to be doing this too whenever I catch her being naughty.
I have not attempted to give Hendrix a bath but today I learned that she doesnt like water. She was squeaking her little lungs off when she ended up in a vase full of water (her own fault I might add) but given this case any attempt at cleansing and grooming will have to be done by other means that doesnt involve drenching her in water.
And I think she understands the concept of revenge.
From what I have observed of Hendrix diet, she will eat anything, as I have fed her my cockatoo's usual treats of nuts and dried fruit without much complaint. But I have noticed that she has preference for soft diet, as she tried to seek out certain things that wasnt even offered her-- like the pages of my book, and today I learned she has taste for a dozen long stemmed water lilies. She eats pretty quickly too, as I am sure I have not taken my attention away from the flowers for more than a minute when I have returned to it and she was about to finish off the last stalk.
And at this point I'm pretty darn sure she has problems with understanding the command "No", "Stop" and "Dont do that".
Hendrix has good recollection of past events. That is the only logical explanation I can think of when she decided to break most of the vases I had just created. Although in appearance the vases didnt look anything like bowling pins save for the fact that they were slim and stood in rows. I dont know anymore. Forget not understanding commands, I think she just purposely does her own thing regardless of what I say. Which makes this particular pygmy puff to be rather stuborn headstrong.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
