You are making your way down to the Hogwarts grounds, about to enter the barnyard only to find the doors locked. Instead a familiar sign just points in the direction of the play pens. Walking towards the pens you find Professor Thompson and Fuller in one of them, surrounded by bright fluffy, bouncing creatures squealing away past the chalkboard. The two Professors in front of the board wave at you to come on in, the gate's unlocked. Welcome aboard.

Oh, yaaaay. They were going to get to play with the little fluffball Puffskeins. That made Lux happy, because she had never had one. Raising her hand, she gave Professor a little information on the creatures. "Well, they are scavengers and eat lots of different foods. They are also easy to take care of."
Beverly inwardly grinned. They were classified as XX and not dangerous at all. Unless you were allergic to fur then...total loser with a capital L. Too bad she couldn't rise on her toes to get a better look, it'd hurt and no one wanted a crybaby when there were cute little puffskeins around.
Raising her hand at the question, Beverly winced, but ignored the cruel stretching feeling. "Puffskeins, they hum when they are happy and eat their owner's bogeys while they sleep." Ha. She said bogey!
Sophie smiled at her bestie when she came to stay near her and turned to the professors when the class started. She wasn't that interested in the creatures, but the Chaaarms they'd be learning that day.
But the first question was about the animals, so ooookay. "Weren't Pygmy Puffs generated from them?" ...Generated, Sophie? Eh, she couldn't think of a better word. But Puffskeins were a bigger version of Pygmy Puffs, weren't they?
...And they were very bouncy as well, which made Sophie chuckle as she watched them.

Puffskeins, hmm? Mo tugged on the bright pink shirt he'd somehow managed to scavenge from the bottom of his trunk (comfortable with his masculinity, thanks) and made faces. Tame. Boring.
It was like they were all too old and weary to handle anything more dangerous. Bummer.
"I think they're pretty much completely tame, sir. They'll let you do whatever... manhandle, throw them, cuddle them, use them as a replacement Quaffle. Not fussed at all by it."

So, they were going to be taming puffskeins?
Was that the same thing as training them? Because Rhodes had only been in the play pens with the creatures for a few minutes, and already she was tired of them. Tired of looking at them bounce. And tired of their squeaking. If they were going to be training them to stop those things, then perhaps the lesson would be fun. It depended on the way they trained them, after all.
There may have been an evil little glint in her eyes as she staaaaared at the annoying bouncy creatures, but as soon as she heard the question from the Professor, all her attention was on him. A fact about the puffskein?
She didn't really know anything about them. And after seeing them up close, she didn't want to. "They're probably the most abandoned creature. I couldn't see anyone wanting to keep a pet that sticks their tongue up everyone's nose for too long." Ewws go to you, dorm mate who brought that fact up.
Eww.

So they were going to be working with the Puffskeins. Awesome. What did he know about Puffskeins? At least one fact? Hmm....that they get into everything...and can cause chaos in a train by climbing up your arm and sitting on your head? Did that qualify? Sander thought to himself as he remembered his first Hogwarts Express Train ride from King's Cross back at the beginning of the term.
Sander laughed to himself even as he raised his hand.
"Professor, Puffskeins are classified as XX. That means they are harmless and can be domesticated. But that doesn't mean you can take your eyes off them when they are out of their pens," Sander gave his answer before glancing over at the Puffskeins again.

Oh. Puffskeins. Irritating little balls of noise made sense now.
She paused to look around for West... where was he? Didn't he know he had to come to this class? They'd made a deal and all. After scouring the pens for a glimpse of her boyfriend and coming up with no results, Alice directed her attention back to the question at hand. What did she know about puffskeins? Hmm.
"One variety of puffskein has fangs, sir. Think they're wizard bred."
They also hummed when content, so these ones must have been damn ecstatic.

It was Wednesday, of course Schuyler was wearing pink.
More specifically, she had a hot pink crop top (showing off belly button piercing yes) and NEON yellow skinny jeans. She was like one of those two-tipped highlighters, yeah? Pink on one end and yellow on the other.
The brightness was fun. Everyone being bright. It was like going from black and white to extreme technicolor. But apparently this aspect of class was being overlooked so that they could all focus on those playpenpals. AKA puffskeins.
"Also known as Mogwai. When they're sprinkled with water, they get these odd warts and turn into ugly, gangly, green creatures." Strange.
Wait, no. That wasn't right. Was it? Old person condition was taking a toll on Schuyler, yes. What was this, dementia?
Michael noticed Rhodes not too far away from him and he gave her a wave. He needed to talk to her a some point. Not a conversation he was particulalrly looking forward to either.
But it was going to have to wait until after class seeing how they were now expected to answer questions about Puffskeins. He raised his hands in the air. "They like to pick people's boogers with it's tongue and they hum when they are happy."
Leah loved animals, and she did know quite some facts about Puffskeins. Some were already mentioned by other students, and soon she did not have a lot to say.
"Many people keep them as pets, because they are so CUTE AND CUDDLY!" Leah could not help but squeal. She hoped to keep one but a kneazle and an owl was enough for an twelve-year-old.

I don't know where Cutty had found it, but that day he'd managed to locate a pink python shirt and was wearing it to class.
Merlin help me.
Anyway, he'd recognized the animal, because that was what Jolie was. The pet his mother intended to share with him, but really the two of them shared the bigger bond and Cutty wasn't bothered by this in the least. Merlin, Jolie was a pest. Always sticking her tongue where it didn't belong and making strange high pitched little noises. What was more annoying was the way his mother fussed over the thing.

Cutty's eyes widened and his brows raised as his little mind raced with plans of what he was going to do over the summer. Jolie was gettin' a bath so help him. Jolie was getting a bath!
He still wore his inspired expression as his hand was raised into the air and he responded to the question posed by the professor. "They make great pest control, being that they're scavengers they'll keep your home spider and insect free."

Roaming with Puffskeins? Seriously? They needed to BLIND her with all their PINK just so they could play with little balls of puff and fur? Un.Be.Lievable.
Alexa watched the little things bouncing about, reminding her that her cousin had maybe 10 of these by now. Was it 10? Eh, she'd have to ask Dax. But then, did it really matter? By the time she got to ask class would be over and this topic would no longer be relevant to her. Lex blinked back into focus at the Professor's question.
Something she knew about them...."Kneazles prefer them almost as much as they do Pygmy Puffs. I dunno why though. I think they're easier to catch."
Maybe Felix liked the challenge? Possible.

Ian listened to the answers generated by his classmates. He'd not dealt with or studied much about them and so he didn't really know anything about them. Hearing the answers of his fellow students, he was kind of glad. Granted, dried mucous is organic, but still kind of gross thinking this creature was cleaning them out of the nose. Blech! And then there was the name. I mean the fuzzy things are kind of cute, but puffskeins? sounds like skin made out of fluffy things and that wasn't a really pleasant thought, was it?
Caelen watched the puffskeins as they bounced about the pen. THEY WERE SOOO CUTE. And she wanted one now. Maybe to terrorize rockwell when he was doing stuff and to be her own personal little fluffy playmate. Because they were soo cute and... bright. Like really bright colors. Which made it double awesome. Because being bright and being totally cute was a double whammy. Like her! The shorter girl was cute and pretty smart and totally not conceited at all. NOPE.
Wait, question was being asked. Caelen regretfully turned her attention away from the cute little creatures and thought of a fact about them. There was nothing intelligent she could think of. But in the interest of talking and answering questions, the girl with the braid decided on something unintelligent.
"Well, they're obviously bright." AND SOOO CUTE. But more on that later. "And a lot of people said something about them being completely and utterly harmless and calm, besides the bouncing." Naturally hyper creatures, yes!

Puffskeins.
Sophie roamed through the nooks and crannies of her mind in search of one or two things she knew about the creature. She tried to block out her classmates' suggestions, because the distraction was causing her to forget whatever she knew about Puffskeins. Besides that, she wanted to come up with something different and not just agree with somebody else.
Anyway...
Remembering a few things, she raised her hand. "They're a modified version of the Pygmy Puff," she said. "Oh, and you'll know when they're content, because they'll hum."

What did she know about puffskins? Well. Not a lot. She hadn't really read through her care of magical creatures textbook recently. She had learnt a lot from her Aunt Iliana. Who had once been a teacher of creatures. So. That made sense that she should know about puffskins. But she had been a little bit distracted this term. By getting old. And other stuff.
So. Now she needed an answer. Hmm. She bit her lip, before raising her eyebrow. "They are... puffy?" Because well. It was in the name right?

Thompson and Fuller, ah yes, that certainly rang a bell in Toby's mind. He grinned at the professors and gave them a salute, before going on watching the happy balls of fuzz bound around the playpen until the class started. AHA. Toby knew they were puffskeins. Score.
At the question, Toby raised his hand.
"They're adorable," he said, matter-of-factly, a grin still on his aged face. "And I guess they like it when people around them are wearing bright colours? Like maybe they think we're one of them, or that we're friendly, 'cause they like colours?"
Maybe? Maybe maybe?

"Excellent. As some of you have mentioned, Pygmy puffs, along with the illegal fanged versions have been bred from Puffskeins themselves. Whilst pygmy puffs remain minature in size, Puffskeins have been likened to being a garbage bin, with their intake and not being as discriminatory with their choice of food." Meaning, "They have the tendency to get large whilst maintain their enthusiastic and bouncing behavior." Cue the Puffskeins still bouncing around and a few resting. "Only of course, for a shorter amount of time.."
"So how do we prevent them from becoming the size of the castle? Through some vigorous exercise, of course." There was a catch though, "As obedient as Puffskeins can be towards their owners, they do have a mind of their own and often need the extra push to do what is needed when all they want to do is eat and relax." Letting that sink in first, "Any guesses on how we can make them? In legal terms."

Already quite familiar with how Pygmy puffs tended to very much do whatever they wanted, Sander assumed that their larger cousins would most likely be the same in nature. Sander wracked his brain, thinking of possibilities in which one could maybe convince these fur balled creatures to do things his way. He came up with a few but decided to share one with the class.
Raising his hand, Sander shared his idea with the rest of the class.
"Professor, maybe we can try talking to and reasoning with them. I know that sounds dumb, but I've noticed that it seems to work with other creatures. They may not be able to understand what we are saying but I'm sure they can recognize gestures and the tone of voice. We can even try bribing them. Do something I want you to do and I'll reward you...with lots of boogers,"
...yes the reward system always worked. It applied to both humans and creatures alike.

Interesting. Adi had not known that a Puffskein could be stubborn at times. Wanting to eat and relax sounded more like laziness, though. Hehe. He raised his hand to make a wild but yet educated guess.
"There's perhaps some sort of charm we use to get them motivated, Professor,'' he said.

Puffskeins were cute.
Ella agreed with that fact and considering many of the other ones she knew had already been mentioned, the Head Girl had stood quietly, listening and watching the creatures with interest. Could they cuddle them soon or?
Getting them to behave and not get super large? Ella would have said exercise first. That way they'd be too tired to get into too much trouble and could work off any of the junk they liked to eat. That had been mentioned by Professor Thompson already though. Sad days. Didn't he know it was hard for them to think these days?
"Pair them up with a more well behaved puffskein. They'd have someone to play with so they could get lots of exercise, they'd need to share food which means they wouldn't get as fat, and perhaps an older puffskein could be a good influence on the younger, more unruly ones." Yeah, little whippersnappers.

Seeing her friends arrive for class, Alex greeted them. She returned Sander's wave as he went off to speak with the Professors. "Hi guys", she said to Bay and Lux as they approached her.
When class began and the Professor asked about puffskeins, Alex remained silent. Sometimes she found it better to just listen. Her classmates had a great deal of information to share and she took careful notes on their comments as well as the Professor's.
When the next question was posed, Alex thought about it. How do you get someone to do something they don't want to do? Thinking of an answer, she raised her hand.
"You could try using positive reinforcement. Every time the puffskein does something that you want them to do, they get a treat. You would give them something that they really like. Then if they do what you want consistently, you cut back on treats to every other time or every third time.". Alex didn't know if her idea would work with puffskeins, but maybe it would. If that didn't work, you could always try the Confundus charm.
