Sana walked into the Park with the working sheet in hands. The park atmosphere was inviting and encouraging. She stood besides the stream for quite sometime before start her practical work.

She passed the snakes one by one, picked the Black Mamba ,finally for her practical.

Equipped with the Dragon hives gloves, she was watching and touching it cautiously.

Agie groaned as she walked in. Now she had to actually examine the snakes. This would be terrible. She placed on her gloves, the moment she entered the park.

She hesitantly went up to where all the snakes were and tried to find the least nastiest of them all. If that was possible.

Sana likes it smooth and shiny black skin. It looked like a large hosepipe. She moved its body without disturbing it too much to study the snake. It looked like undisturbed so far for her good time. She knew that it was highly vemomous but she put the snake on the sandy floor, cautiously.

She looked around for a second to see if Prof. Fabian was around anywhere. But it seemed that he had not arrived yet.

She returned to her work casually, conjured a measuring tape to claculate the length of the snake. Once she did, she noted down the measurement on her work sheet. Now the gender..but by the time snake started to move....boy....quickly. She jumped a bit by the sudden take off of the snake.

Sam walked through the gate and saw snakes. Excellent. She loved any animal. Snakes were just cool! Danny would be so jealous! She noticed an older girl working with a black snake. She loved animals, but she had a hard time with names. Walking toward the girl, Sam put on a friendly smile.

"Hi. Um, what kind of snake is that?" she asked curiously. She slipped on her dragon hide gloves and hoped the girl invited her to partner with her. She seemed to know what she was doing with her snake. Sam had no idea where to start.

When Tag entered the Creature Park 61 and read the instructions, he nearly died of ecstasy. This was his focus class, and every week it seemed they were working on another of his favorite creatures. To Tag, all animals were his favorites. However, serpents held a special place in his heart. He'd been collecting them since he was eight.

Pulling on his worn dragonhide gloves, Tag strolled through the pebbled area, eyes fixated on the ground and noting the various species. He knew all of them. Choosing which one to write about was going to be the difficult part.

Edie nervously walked towards the snakes. She could feel that her hands were sweating inside her Dragonhide gloves. The garter snake she had chosen was quite big and Edie swallowed in fear.

"Here's goes," Edie said to herself nervously

Amelia entered the park nervously, looking around for a familiar face. No - she was not scared! Honestly, the sixth year grew up with two older brothers; a bunch of serpents did not scare her. The thing that scared her was the fact that she felt absolutely clueless about the creatures, and she thought she might fail.

She took a deep breath, holding her exercise sheet as she slipped her dragon hide gloves on. She then saw a familiar face in the distance; okay so she didn't entirely know the boy, but she recognized him as the Ravenclaw Quidditch captain. As he appeared to have some clue what he was doing, she walked over to him and hesitantly spoke to him. "Mr Captain?" she asked, "Er.. I was wondering if you might be able to help me figure this out?"

Juniper stared about her as she walked into the park. Her worksheet was gripped in one hand, and with the other she was attempting to pull on her dragonhide gloves, a very difficult task. With a sigh, Juniper tucked the worksheet between her chin and collarbone as she pulled on first one glove, then the other. There. Now all she had to do was pick a snake to examine with Issy.

She looked at the snakes. There were long snakes, short snakes, fat snakes, skinny snakes. Just like in that one Dr. Seuss book that her mother used to read to her. Juniper grinned and looked intently at a Madagascar tree boa. That one looked interesting. She stowed her worksheet in a pocket, not caring if it got wrinkled or not, and picked up the snake. She showed it to Issy, her partner.

“Is this one okay?” Juniper asked. She really hoped that Issy would not be particular about snakes species.

"A snake is a snake is a snake..." said Issy warily.

She wasn't exactly... afraid of snakes. Just... cautious and curious. They were fascinating creatures but they also had the ability to kill her in an instant, too. And that was a terrifying reason to keep her distance from them.

Ugh ugh ugh.

"Let's just... get this done with."

Death was such an inconvenience.

Tag was deeply engrossed in whispering to small green tree viper that had curled itself around his finger, when he realized he was being spoken to. "What's that? Figure out? Oh. . . " He shook the viper gently from his hand. "Sure! I'll help you. Here, pick a color. Or whatever looks interesting. I"ll get one for you and we can feed it a mouse." Tag sounded entirely too excited about that part.

When Sana was trying to catch snake, she heard a new sweet voice near her. Ofcourse a bit vibrant. She shhhhhhhhhed.."Just a second.." she spoke under her breath. She was lucky this time, and caught the snake by his head, fortunately the creature was not in its full speed capacity.

"Now...this's Black Mamba, very fastest in the world and highly venomous.." she told the younger girl and asked, "Wanna play with it?" she laughed slightly.

"I cannot believe I am doing this", Liz thinks as she walks up to the fence pulling on her dragon hide gloves.

"Well, that one looks kind of pretty," she says as she opens her book, I wonder what it's called. Oh, it's a Calubrid...no that's it's family, it's a Mussurana.

"I'm so glad I studied conjuring last weekend," she thought as she conjured up a tape measure. There has got to be an easier way of measuring this snake, and getting close to it...

Hmm I wonder if Stupefy would work..."Stupefy!" It did work! At least now I won't need to worry about being bitten...

Wow, just under 6 feet long! Liz squeezed at the back of the neck to see if any venom came out holding a bottle under the fangs, but discovering the venom came out of 2 fangs in the back of the mouth!

"This is awesome", Liz thought. As she continued to take notes furiously.

She went over to the bucket and grabbed a few mice, and laid them in front of the snake. "Renervate," she said. The snake awakened and started to eat the mice.

This class really did teach her about snakes, and she wasn't as frightened of them anymore! "I guess I just needed to know more about them...

Sam watched as the older girl tried to recatch the snake. She wondered if she should try to help. But figuring that since she knew not much abotu snakes, it would be safer to let the more experinces person handle it. As she caught it by the neck, Sam grinned. "That was awesome!" she squealed.

Sam chuckled slightly as she asked if she wanted to play with it, hoping the girl was joking. "Where did you learn to catch a snake like that?" she asked the older Hufflepuff. "My name is Sam by the way." she said intorducing herself.

Excelsior looked around at all the different species of snakes, he had never seen so many in his life. Surprisingly, he wasn't afraid of any of these creatures but rather curious, he knew that most snakes were rather docile creatures who only attacked if they were provoked or frightened. But which one to choose? Everyone seemed to be interested in the black mamba, he could understand that choice but he thought he would study a different one, the female ashwinder. Carefully he approached the small reptile, not wanting to frighten her or make her nervous. "These snakes are really beautiful," he thought to himself. "There," he said, gently stroking the snake. Of course, he was wearing his dragonhide gloves just in case, but there didn't seem to be any opposition. He picked up one of the mice from the bucket and set it down for her, and she began to eat the mouse. He carefully watched the way she consumed the mouse, knowing that he would have to write about this process in detail. This was actually quite fascinating!

Juniper stared at Issy with incredulity. A snake most certainly was not a snake! Well, a snake was a snake, but not with the meaning that Issy implied. No two species of snakes were alike, they might look similar, but still!

"It's not just a snake, Issy, it's a Madagascar tree boa," Juniper said matter-of-factly.

She sighed. For now they just had to fill out their worksheets. That would be simple enough. They already knew the snake's species. Now they had to decide if it was a boy or a girl. That required a wand. “Issy, can you conjure stuff? I'm pretty sure we need a probing device and I don't know how else to get one. I can't conjure yet,” Juniper said quietly, both so that no one would overhear them and just because she usually spoke quietly.

Chuckling, Issy tucked back a loose lock of hair. Oh, Juni and her little nature obsession. She knew more about animals than she did humans, it seemed, and while Issy was impressed, she also was kind of saddened. Because Juni was a really nice girl and if she would only talk to people, she'd see they were nice animals, too.

"Snakes, Juni, are snakes. They all have the power to kill me and that makes them... intimidating." Not scary. Intimidating.

She couldn't help, though, but be secretly amused at the matter-of-fact manner that Juni had clarified the species in. It was cute.

"Probing device? Why can't we just... you know... use our wands?" She shrugged lightly, making a face. "I mean... it's long and thin. Do you think it would work?" Looking around the room, she tried to see if anyone else was... probing their snake.

...where did they stick the probe anyway?

"Just so you know... you're probing."

Rhiannon entered the park and saw the other students gathered around the snakes. Heading over, still feeling the warmth on her face from her blush as she had run out of class, she looked around feeling lost. She had no idea what species to choose. She didn't even know what she was supposed to do once she chose one. She was truly starting to panic. And she never panicked in a class environment. It was taking all of her self-restraint to keep from abandoning the class altogether.

She glanced around at everyone else, wondering if there was any way she could partner up with someone who might be more sure of themselves in the situation.

Juniper shrugged at Issy. Her friend might not appreciate nature as she did, but that was not her problem. Issy’s loss. Juniper even was careful enough to ignore Issy's use of her nickname. Juni. Juniper didn't think the name fit her very well.

“Use our wands?” Juniper’s quiet voice was skeptical, but Issy had a point. What good would a wand be anyway? It seemed to be the simplest solution, so she nodded. “Fine. And of course I’m probing. You don’t know how, do you?”

Gleefully, Juniper pulled her wand from her pocket. Using it, she probed the snake with utmost care for its feelings. She did not want to hurt the poor snake, after all. She felt sorry for it, to be truthful. It had not asked to be collected and transported from its home in warm, sunny Madagascar to cloudly and rainy Britain. And not even to be well-treated. The poor snake had to be subjected to students’ untrained learning. Who knew how it would be mistreated after Juniper and Issy finished observing it kindly? She did not even want to think about it.

“It’s a boy,” Juniper finally told Issy. Her wand really was not dirty after being used for a probing device – thank goodness it was the right size – but she wiped it on her robes for good measure. “Now we have to decide if its venomous or not.”

Rhiannon finally resigned herself to having to do the practical by herself. She writes her name on her paper before starting. Going over to the enclosure, she finds a reasonably small snake, whose coloring strangely reminded her of Hufflepuff. An Eastern Ribbon Snake. Reaching her hand in, she picks it up gently, and looks at it. Speaking quietly, she says, "You're a pretty little thing, aren't you?" The snake looks back at her calmly, as if it was as fascinated by this large blonde creature as she was by it.

Lightly feeling along the length of the snake, she tries to tell its gender. Eventually, she comes to the conclusion that it is a female, due to its docility and the fact that it almost seemed like it might be pregnant. Tilting her head, she speaks to the snake again in a whisper. "Are you gonna have babies, girl?" She examines the snake further to answer the other questions on her worksheet, measuring its length, and then puts it down to see how it moves.

Walking over to the mice, she picks a small one out to feed to her snake. Placing the mouse a few feet in front of her snake on the ground, she sits down a short distance away to watch it feed, writing down everything it does.

Dia grinned widely, looking around for a serpent to study. Putting on her dragonhide gloves, she spotted a healthy-sized red tailed boa and quietly made her way over, offering her gloved hand to the beautiful serpent to signify that she was not food. She picked it up gently, first determining if the creature was too aggressive or not. As it was quite placid, she went on with her studies in silence.

The seventh year took a gentle (but firm) hold of the snake's head between her pointer finger and thumb, holding its jaw in place. She conjured a probing rod and probed the serpent, quickly writing down afterwords that it was male. She then vanished the probe and carefully took a firm grip on the snake's lower jaw with her right hand, as her left was preventing the snake from striking at all, and opened the snake's mouth. Yes, she already knew that red-tailed boas were boa constrictors, and therefore were not venomous, but she would never pass an opportunity to study the serpents further. After a moment of examining the constrictor's fangs, she let the snake close its mouth. "Sorry about that, mate," Dia said apologetically.

Measuring a live snake accurately with just a tape measure or such is practically impossible. She tried to straighten the creature as much as she could without hurting it and then proceeded to conjure a very long string, which she measured and then compared to the snake. Copying the results down on her parchment, she placed it next to her and wrote a few inches of parchment on the way it moved. Hopefully later, if there was any spare time, she could sketch it.

Grinning wider and making her way over to the mice, she picked three of them up and inspected them first before giving them to her snake to make sure none of them were diseased or anything. Dia set them down and let them scurry for a little bit, the snake curving back into strike position and tracking them before the rodents walked right into their doom. It had always fascinated her the way that serpents ate, particularly constrictors, as they struck and constricted their pray at a breathtaking speed. She noted this quickly on her paper, continuing to watch the serpent eat.

Rebecca walked up to the snake enclosure and slected a snake, looking at the snake she memorised it's markings and picked up a Practical Excercise sheet, filling it in as she went along, then finally finishing she placed the sheet in a pile, she smiled at the professor "Done professor" she looked around "Would you like me to help other people professor?"

Snakes. Shel grinned as he walked into Park Sixty-one, finding himself surrounded by snakes on all four sides. Wicked! Care of Magical Creatures he loved and, if possible, snakes even more. His love for animals, especially the wilder ones, had always made his mother sigh.

Out of frustration or terror, that he still had to figure out.

He pulled on his protective, dragon hide gloves as he entered, somehow feeling as if they were . . . hard. Harder than usual, that is. He shrugged, and glanced around, wondering which species of snake to pick.

This should be interesting.

Qaz had been dragging her heels...quite literally. She did not like snakes. She had already spent enough time with snakes to last her a lifetime, but some times you just had to take a long, deep breath and deal with it. After all, there was no way that this could be worse than the rattlesnake roundup held every summer back home.
Time to prepare. First thing she had to do was put her hair in a ponytail. Then she stuck a pencil in it. Qaz reached into a worn leather satchel that she had been carrying and pulled out a pair of knee-high leather mocassins. It had taken her over a month to make them. She had really enjoyed working with the deer hide. It feel so soft, but she knew that it would stand up to most snakebites. She took her shoes off, put them in the satchel and put on the mocassins. She laced them up nice and tight. No wiggle room for fangs to grab hold. She pulled out her dragon hide gloves. They were heavy and stiff. The last thing she pulled out of her bag was a snake lasso….just in case.
So, she squared her shoulders, took a deep breath and entered the the enclosure. There certainly weren’t as many snakes as she’s seen at the roundup, but there was a large variety to choose from…many more than she had imagined. This had caught her off guard. She stood for several minutes trying to decide which one to pick. Land or Water. Venomous or not.

Tori walked into park 61 and looked around at all the snakes. She then walked over to her left where there were a group of snakes she would look at to see which she would work with. After a few minutes she picked the eastern hognose. Picking it up carefully even though she knew it to be not venomous thus the reason she had chosen the snake.

Tori set it down and started to measure it. It was quiet easy do to the fact the snake liked to play dead. It would stick it tongue out and lay limp. After she measured it she concluded it female do to its large size. Tori then walked away but quickly came back with a frog in her hands. She then set down the frog and watched the snake eat it.
