Hermione and Ashley went to their House Common Rooms tired and hyper. For the moment, Draco was long forgotten, Until the next morning at breakfast.
One thing Hidehollow had that Hogwarts didn't, was non-assigned tables. You could sit anywhere. So it came as a shock to Hermione when Draco approached them.
"Um...c-could I sit here, Hermione?" He asked, hesitantly. Hermione stared at him, then nodded. Ashley managed to hide her excitement well. Draco sat down tentatively next to Hermione.
"Morning Draco! How'd you get here before me?" Sam plopped down next to him. "I was awake before you."
"Just beat you to it Sam. What's up?" Draco said, and passed the pancakes over to him. "Say, these are good! What are they?"
"Pancakes. And really good ones at that." Ashley munched. She poured more maple syrup on the pancakes. "Have some bacon too."
"Thanks." Draco took some, and gave the plate to Hermione. Hermione just couldn't believe it. She was actually having a decent conversation with Malfoy! AND he called her Hermione! This was a new thing.
"Schedules! Here they are!" A tall, lean professor came walking up and down the tables. "Grab a schedule before your books!"
"Oh good, we've got Flying now." Ashley got up. "Let's go!"
"But...I know how to fly already." Draco started to say, but Sam hushed him.
"It's also tryouts for the quiddich team. It should be good. I'm trying out too. Maybe we'll both get on it!"

Hermione, Ashley, Draco, and Sam all went out to the Quiddich field. Draco felt right at home at once. There was a line of broomsticks on the ground. memories flashed towards him, but he beat them off. He was making a new start. The professor strode out into the field.
"Each of you stand beside a broomstick. Let's go now, only have an hour." The students filed in beside the brooms. "My name is Professor Gremlie. Now, command it to leap into your hand. UP!"
Cries of 'UP' were heard ringing through the air. Draco's broom went straight into his hand, and, to her suprise, so did Ashley's. Hermione and Sam were still pleading with their brooms, when Gremlie spoke once more.
Sorry, I'm gonna have to finish this tomorrow....

After the lesson, Draco, Hermione, Sam, and Ashley headed off to Potions. Ashley and Draco were excited about how they were the only kids in their class who knew how to fly. Hermione and Sam tolerated their bragging.
Ashley led the way to the Potions classroom. It was located near the Infirmery. Hermione could only imagine why. They found seats in the large, airy classroom, and set up their cauldrens. Hermione was very conscience of Draco, who was quietly setting up his Potions things next to her.
BAM! The door flew open. Standing in the dorrway was a little witch, standing a possible 5'0". She pattered across the room and sat at the desk.
"I am now taking roll call. Please settle down and take out your Potions ingrediants. Ashley Dursley."
"Here." Ashley called, and proceeded to help Sam get his things out.
"Hermione Granger."
"Present." Hermione said. Name after name was called.
"Heather Killby. Draco Malfoy. Janet Millstone. Samuel Montel." All present and accounted for. She sighed. "Good. Everybody's here. Now, to start things off right, and to get you all into the swing of things, I'm going to ask for a simple potion. Then tomorrow, we'll work on new material, alright?"
The majority of the class murmered approval. "Good. Now, if you all would be so kind as to whip up a Sleeping Draught." She waved her wand, and the instructions were on the board. "You have 30 minutes. Begin."
Students rushed to fill the order. Draco worked silently, focusing on his work. Hermione kept waiting for him to tip something in her cauldren, or push her, or tip her whole potion over. But to her suprise, nothing happened.
"Hermione, can I borrow your measuring cup? I've lost mine."
"Sure Sam." Hermione absent-mindedly passed her cup over.
"Hermione, watch out!"
"What?" Hermione looked at Ashley to see her whole cauldren fall. "Ah!" It was going to fall on her! Suddenly, an arm thrust itself between Hermione and the cauldren. The cauldren was pushed into it's rightful position. Hermione's wide eyes met Draco's.
"You've got to be more careful Hermione. Things like this can be bad, especially if the potion's toxic."
"Th-thanks Draco." Hermione stammered.
"No problem." Draco turned back to his potion. Hermione just stared at him.

Hermione heaved a huge sigh after class. Ashley and Sam were still laughing about her near accident. Draco just kept walking, listening, and putting in his two cents here and there.
"....so anyway, what were you thinking about?" Ashley asked Hermione.
"I wasn't. I was just....my mind....was somewhere else." Hermione stumbled over her words.
"Hmm...." Sam said. He quietly used Legilimacy. Hermione's mind opened up. He saw Draco flying through the air, a grin on his face, his muscles rippling underneath his firm, smooth skin.
He also saw how Draco had treated Hermione, and the hiddin messages that Hermione picked up, but never processed. How Draco didn't hit Hermione back when she socked him one. How he hated touching her because he couldn't control his feelings for her. Sam stopped there. He didn't want to look anymore. "Whoa."
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Nothing." Boy, did he have things to talk about with Draco!

After Potions, Draco looked at his and Sam's schedules. There was nothing.
"Uh, Sam? What does that mean?" Draco pointed to the empty space. Sam glanced at it.
"It means we have a free period. Which actually means, I show you around Hidehollow. You still don't know where everything is exactly, right?"
"Yea, I guess." Draco admitted. "Where to first?"
"First, the Owlry. You have an owl, right?"
"Yea. But I never knew-"
"Where is was!" Sam laughed. "Seems almost like a waste to have one if you don't even know where it is."
Sam led Draco down hallways and up stairs. "The owls are kept closer to the surface, so they have an easier time getting in and out. The school owls are allowed to be let out at night, because they're trained, see? But let an owned owl out, and they'll be gone in ten seconds."
"I see."
"Yea, so to avoid the private owls from getting restless, we have personal owl tamers who escort the owls on a 30 foot chain, so they are allowed to fly, but still not be totally free. That way, we don't get into trouble with their owners."
"But what if they don't want you to do that?" Draco asked, curious. He was sure he didn't want his owl locked to a chain.
"Well, you can always let it out yourself. Saves them alot of trouble. Here we are. Were you paying attention?"
Draco wasn't. But he was now. Because, standing in front of him was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
"Oh, I'm sorry, was I bothering you?" She asked, in a voice as light as silk. Draco couldn't speak.
"No Candi*, you're fine. I was just showing Draco the Owlry. He's new here." Sam said. "Oh, Draco, this is Candi Halley. Candi, this is Draco Malfoy. He's from Hogwarts."
"Wonderful to meet you Draco." Candi said, her voice soft and gentle. Draco could barely breath. Her hair was as dark as chocolate, and waves rippled down past her shoulders. She wasn't tall, but she carried herself in a way that made her seem that way. Her eyes were a deep brown, and glowed with health.
"T-the pleasure is all mine." Draco stumbled over his words. Candi gave him a weird look.
"Um, Sam, I'd better go now. Nice to have met you Draco." She walked gracefully past Draco. The scent of her perfume wafted in the air, trailing behind her. Draco's eyes never left her.
"Bye Candi. Draco....Draco?"
"....hm?" Draco said dreamily.
"Hey, DRACO! C'mon man, stop drooling over her! You're not the first, and you won't be the last." Sam shook Draco out of his catatonic state. Draco shook his head.
"Draco Malfoy doesn't drool over women, especially ones who get it all the time." Draco tried desperately to regain his composure. "Um...why are we here again? Where are Ashely and Hermione?"
"Never mind. We'll look at the owls another time." Sam started to head down the stairs. Draco followed, eager to get another look at Candi.

Hermione and Ashley took their period off above ground. Ashley showed Hermione the way into town, pointing out historical sights, and giving her the heads up on the town.
"Most people here treat students like royalty." Ashley said, leading Hermione past the bridge into town. "Most of them never finished school, and they know all about Hidehollow. Witches and Wizards come here all the time."
"But, what about secrecy? Won't they-" Hermione asked, fearful.
"Na, they're all good people. Besides, we have a Secret Keeper. The townsfolk know about Hidehollow, but they don't know where it is."
Hermione was impressed by the fact of the Secret Keeper. She never knew how hidden Hidehollow actually was. They entered the town, waving to people and window shopping.
"Oh, Ashley, let's go there." Hermione dragged Ashley into a quaint little shop filled with little wooden carvings, and doodads. Hermione picked up some things for her parents. They left the shop, talking and laughing.
"Hermione, we'd better get back. Hidehollow's got a curfew." Ashley led the way back to the school. On the way back to their dorms, they ran into a frustrated Sam and a tongue-tied Draco. "What happened?"
"Oh, Draco found a new amore." Sam said, rolling his eyes. "We've been trying to catch her all evening."
"Who?" Hermione asked, feeling slightly jealous, although she didn't know why.
"Candi Halley." Sam said. Ashley rolled her eyes.
"That primadonna? Oh, Draco, you can do better." Ashley said. Hermione remained silent.

The next morning was Saturday. Hermione awoke to blue skies, clearless and perfect for spending the day outside. However, a dark cloud loomed over just her. It's name was Candi Halley. Her potential good mood was gone in a flash, and Ashley couldn't understand why she was so upset.
"Hermione, what's wrong? The day hasn't even started." Ashley asked her over breakfast.
"I don't know exactly. I mean, I know what I'm mad at, but as to why I'm mad, well, I'm completely in the dark." Hermione took a muffin and bit into it. Banana nut. Her favorite. But it had no flavor. She tossed it aside.
"I think I have a good idea..." Ashley said slyly. Hermione looked at her, interested and....was that a flicker of fear?
"Oh yea? You tell me."
"Well, I couldn't help but notice how upset you got after Draco and Sam got back from the Owlry."
"It was because we had to leave the villiage early. That's all." Hermione said quickly.
"Oh yea? Sam also agrees with me, and we think it was because of Miss Candi Halley. Am I correct?"
Hermione turned away. Ashley grinned.
"Ah, I see. Hermione, don't worry. People fall for her every ten seconds. I timed her one time last year. Draco won't do anything stupid."
"But....I'm not upset over that." Hermione tried desperately to regain her composure. They left the table and headed up and out into the sun. "It's just...living underground...it's-"
"Hermione, don't start our friendship by lying to me. Please don't do that. Now, do you like Draco?" Ashley asked her straight out. Hermione hesitated.
"I....I...."
"Because I remember, in the beginning of the year, you told me he was scum, and shouldn't be given any consideration. And I've done that. But here you are, starting to fall for the same man you said to totally ignore." Ashley sounded hurt, and Hermione didn't blame her.
"Look, Ashley, I'm sorry. I'm trying not to hurt anyone here, especially you three. But...I've never hung out with Draco before, or seen him kind or loving and...caring before. This is all new to me. And I'm sorry for what I said earlier this year. It appears...for the first time, I'm wrong."
Ashley nodded, and the both of them headed off to town, laighing and talking about nothing at all.
Yes, I know, it's short, but I just don't feel like writing alot tonight. I'll finish Draco tomorrow, ok?
