Hello KellyBear. Thank you so much for another post. It was very short, but, I'm thankful for it. Poor Neville really did need to get to sleep, and wash away his wearyness, and his disappointment of the day. But, I wonder if the contents of the box from Luna might have been important, and looked into. I mean, Vermicious Knids, sounds like something you don't want having around you. But, the poor boy was too exhausted to do anything but sleep. Hope he doesn't neglect it in the morning when he first wakes up.

Ok, I have been HANDWRITING my updates as my keyboard at home fried (note to self: do not set a vase next to the computer) and had I but known I could update here from work, I'd have done so already! Ottery said he would type up my updates for me at the library and post them for me, and since I left them at home with him, I will ask him to do so tomorrow for me if he isn't able to do it today and starting Monday, I will begin updating here at work with whatever he doesn't get posted. He said he might get them posted today if he could, though. So I can use SS at work!!
Now, if only I coud use my brain at work, too, all would be well...

A soft thump near his ear woke Neville from a dead sleep. He groaned and dragged his pillow over his head, willing himself to fall back to sleep.

Several more balls of socks ricocheted off his pillow but he steadfastly ignored them. He was not going to wake up. He refused. He couldn't face another day like yesterday.

Seamus mercilessly yanked the pillow from his head.

"Mornin', mate. Ginny's looking for you." Seamus said cheerily before letting the pillow fall on his face. Seamus whistled jauntily as he left the boys down, ignoring the muffled muttering from under the pillow.

With a growl, Neville flung the pillow to the floor, sat up and swing his legs over the side of the bed.

Hang it all, he would have to get up now. He needed to talk to Ginny and she hated to be kept waiting. Dressing in a rush, he ran down to the stairs Common Room.

"There you are!" Ginny said, leaning against the wall at the foot of the stair. Neville started to mumble an apology but stopped himself. She'd woken him, after all, and he'd hardly kept her waiting five minutes. Stubbornly, he clamped his mouth shut, and walked slowly down the last few steps.

"You stood me up." Ginny said without preamble when he reached the bottom.

"McGonagall." He said and shrugged. "I need your advice."

"Is this about Luna and Hannah?" Ginny asked.

"I'm in love with her!" Neville said in a rush before he could lose his nerve.

Ginny blinked. "Who?"

Seriously the cliffie at the end? You're evil. I love the way you play it. I'm sure your readers will likewise appreciate the way you're dragging this out ... it makes it so much fun ... LOL

awesome...posts Kelly...and Ottery you are so right...she always has these cliffehangers!!!

Hello KellyBear. I read this last night, or rather early this morning right after it was posted, but I was toooo sleepy to stay awake and comment. Ah give em a break Gin! Ginny needs to have some understanding about patience. Poor Neville. He needs to stop letting people use him for a door mat. Loved this whole part. I hope you can post quickly to let us know who he is in love with. It's great to have you back KellyBear!

Neville rushed on, "I don't know what to do. I care about Hannah a lot and.."

"Hannah?" Ginny asked, looking a little disappointed.

Neville shook himself, "..but when she's around, none of that matters. How do I tell Hannah?"

"You have to be honest, Neville, with both of them."

"Both." It wasn't a question. Relunctantly, he nodded. "I don't suppose there is an easy way, is there?"

Ginny shooke her head. "Sorry, Nev. Oh! I almost forgot. Luna asked me to give this to you."

She held out a small bit of parchment.

Luna smiled to herself as she gazed around the Room of Requirement which now resembled nothing so much as a cozy garden nook, with brightly colored tapestries and garlands of flowers adorning the cold, stone walls. The floor was carpeted in soft green and a small cafe table sat in the center of it all.

Dappled light filled the room though there did not appear to be any source, and flute music played softly. Luna considered this. She preferred the harp but perhaps the flutes did suit the mood better? Deciding that it did, she checked the large vase of flowers for pixies one last time. Satisfied, she sat to wait for Neville.

Just as she began to wonder about whether the room could conjure butterflies, Neville burst in.

AN: Unintentional cliffie, lunch brea is over.

Hello KellyBear. Wonderful! I love it! I wonder though if... (well I won't say. Spoiled milk and all that.) Now that Neville is there, butterflies would complete the atmosphere. You all need to protest for a longer lunch break! Teasing. But, I love that you're giving us your time on your break. I hope you get to eat and rest a bit. Great post, and I'm looking forward to your next. Can't wait as a matter of fact.

Neville stopped short and looked around the room, wonderingly.

Luna stood with a smile. "There you are. I thought perhaps, after the awful day you had yesterday, you might need to relax a little. Would you like some tea?"

"Luna, I...we need to talk."

She had opened her arms to him but let them drop at the pained expression on his face. "What is it, Neville?"

Seeing the concern in her eyes, the lengths she had gone to in order to comfort him jelled his resolve. In two long strides, he crossed the room and enfolded her in his arms. In a voice husky with emotion, he whispered, "I love you. Oh, Luna, I'm in love with you."

Pulling back slightly, she smiled up at him. "I know that, silly."

Neville kissed her then, kissed her with all the tender passion in his heart. He felt awed by the rightness of it, then lost himself in her kiss.

All around them a multitude of butterflies burst into being, but it was a long time before either noticed.

I don't know how Luna could possibly pull back from his arms, but then, she is Luna. I notice she didn't pull out of his arms here though. And she hasn't even realized that the room could give the butterflies she was wondering about. But, we must give her allowances. She is busy at the moment.

Ginny sat down at a table in the library to study, wondering why she still bothered. This whole year was a joke as far as she was concerned, a sham. All they were learning this year was survival and that despite their lessons not because of them.

Still, Ginny had to believe that this would not last, that there was way for them to win and she didn't want to be behind when that day came so she continued to study diligently. With a sigh, she spread out her parchments, opened her History book and began to read.

"Ginny?" said a voice beside her, and Ginny looked up.

Maryan, a Ravenclaw in her year, stood beside her. She was looking at Ginny with a mixture of concern and sympathy that made her feel uneasy. What now? thought Ginny.

"Yes?" she asked instead, trying to keep her expression neutral. Ginny knew Maryan from a couple of classes they had taken together but as far as she could remember, they had never actually spoken. Maryan, like most Ravenclaws, was bookish and tended to spend a lot of time on her own. What reason could she possibly have to be worried about me? Ginny wondered.

Maryan took the seat beside Ginny and leaned close conspiratorily, "You must be so worried. I know I would be."

"Worried?" Ginny asked.

"Everyone knows you and Harry were a couple and that he didn't return this year. Yo must be dreadfully worried." Maryan said, looking, if it were possible, even more concerned than before. Ginny, however was angry.

"We were a couple. Last year. Past tense."

Maryan's eyes widened at that and Ginny noticed they were violet. How odd, she though. Maryan recovered herself and continued as though Ginny hadn't spoken.

"I have a..a gift..from my grandmother. It allows you to see your loved one, " Maryan pulled a smooth blue stone from her pocket and placed it on the table in front of Ginny, "I thought perhaps it would help you if you could see him again?"

Ginny looked at the stone in wonder. Just think how many people this could help, she thought. She thought about Neville worrying for his grandmother as her finger touched the cool blue stone.

Immediately, she felt the stone warm and an image appeared on the flat surface. It was Neville and he held Luna in his arms, kissing her.
A snort from beside her broke her concentration and she jerked her hand from the stone.

"You thought of Neville Longbottom?" Maryan's contempt was evident and Ginny remembered her anger.

"Thank you, Maryan, but I am sure there are many others who have greater need for this that I do."

With a scowl, Maryan hurried off, leaving Ginny secretly smiling to herself.

Hello KellyBear. I appreciate you sharing your lunch with us. What good did we have today? Actually I'm stuffed! Today is Steve and my 34th wedding anniversary, and he took me out to eat. What a nice surprise! So, I'm thrilled to just have your new post. Very nicely put. I didn't even think about that. I always just past that year at Hogwarts off as a waste of time. I agree with what's been said about 1st instincts. I don't think this girl is genuin. Something seems strange. Yes, something most strange indeed! I don't think Ginny needs to be associating with her. It sounds like she is someone wanting to find out information about where Harry is. Ha Ha! You didn't get the information you was wanting! Who are you spying for, or are you just nosey?!

And the butterflies, I loved the butterflies, and having him say Hannah when he meant Luna brilliant and a total misdirection ... I loved it. I gasped and was all WTF??!! until I realized what you were doing but then I had the benefit of waiting and having all the posts already up I can't help it, I pwn.

Neville pulled back and stared down into Luna's face. She looked flushed and happy, her eyes dancing. He was still shaken but he knew this was right. He belonged here with her. A swirl of color caught his eye and he glanced up and smiled. Butterflies danced around them in a kaleidescope of color.

"You have a way of making beautiful things dance. I've seen your mimbulus mimbletonia." The way she was grinning, he wasn't sure if she was teasing him or not.

"They just enjoy music."

She laughed and kissed him again. He felt he could definitely get used to this.

"Neville, there is something I have been meaning to tell you. I am worried about my father and I have decided to go home over the holidays."

Neville frowned. "It's not safe.." he began, but Luna cut him off.

"It's not safe anywhere."

Neville had to agree but he did not like the idea at all. Then another idea occurred to him.

"What if they don't allow us to leave?" he asked.

"I'll deal with that when it happens, if it happens, but I must go see about my father. You understand, don't you?"

Relunctantly, he nodded. He did understand. He was on the point of asking her if he could accompany her, but held his tongue. He couldn't presume that far. Still, if she asked, he would go. He just had to figure out how to get her to think of it...



An: The title has a double meaning. I have been spending my time on NANOWRIMO but I decide to re-examine my priorities and my priority is to write this story, so here we go. Hello KellyBear. I wasn't expecting a post till after Nano, but I'm thankful for it. Thank you for your time. How cute is that?! I'm so proud of Neville. I hope Grand is too. She better be. I loved all of the chapter, but this part ^ is my favorite. I can see Neville thinking ahead on this. Not a lot of guys would, but I really think he would. You write him very well. ALL of your writing is super! I'm still loving this story, and loving it more each time I read a new post for it. Thank you so much, KellyBear! We did have a great time. Ginny caught up to Neville in the hall and punched him playfully in the shoulder.

"Ow! What was that for?" Neville asked, rubbing what would surely become a bruise.

"Why didn't you tell me about you and Luna?" Ginny asked instead, grinning up at him.

Neville looked at her, confused, and wondered for just a moment if she had gone 'round the twist.

"I told you his morning, remember?" Neville looked at her uncertainly, and tried to edge away from her without her noticing.

"You said..oh, nevermind, I am just really happy for you." Ginny laughed and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

I will never understand girls if I live to be as old as Uncle Winifred, Neville thought to himself, still watching Ginny apprehensively.

"Do you know Maryan Sheriam?" Ginny asked, suddenly frowning.

"She's pretty, I suppose." Neville said without thinking, and had to dodge another punch from Ginny.

"What?!" he cried.

Ginny muttered something about boys that Neville was quite sure he was better off not hearing, then said in the too-patient tone mothers usually reserved for small children, "I don't trust her, I think she may be up to something."

"What makes you say that?" he asked, then frowned as Ginny told him what had happened in the library.

"I don't like it, either," Neville said when she finished, "it sounds a bit dodgy to me."

Ginny nodded.

"I think we should keep a watch on her. We can bring it up at the next meeting." Neville said, finally. So lost was he in his own thouhts, he did not notice Ginny nodding again and looking at him speculatively.

Hello KellyBear. I'm so happy to have another chapter to read! I love your writing style so much. I think you did us all a favor making Neville a main character in your story. It's a shame JK didn't develope his character very much, and the movies made it even worse. But, you do him justice. If he would think back to their conversation he would see why she was asking that question. This next part is just to cute! I love it so much! Ginny and Neville remind me of someone and I can't put my mind on it. I'll think of it though. Oh good! I'm glad they are suspicious of her also. "dodgy" is correct Neville.
Aha! I think I know who they remind me of. Ron and Hermione before they fell in love! Ron was a bit slow on the uptake to Hermione's theory's and sher'd get frustrated with him, and he was all so innocent of it all. So cute. And I'm not saying I think Neville and Ginny should get together, because I favor Neville and Luna in this ff. Neville and Hannah would have been cute also, but I think here it works better with Neville and Luna. Argggggggggggg I'm rambling. Love your story KellyBear. I'll be watching for your next post.
