Face full of web. FACE FULL OF WEB.

Standing just inside the doorway, Thornton Baines was frozen, able to feel the silky strand across his forehead and down his nose and, oh Merlin, it was on his lips. It was ON. HIS. LIPS.

The Ravenclaw was doing his very best not to freak out, but it was just such an unpleasant feeling and he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to brush it off with his hand. Of course, this enterprise was a complete failure, because now there was web on his face AND on his hands.

Maybe he'd just... stand here.

Wibble.

Janelle was actually early to class. That was good. She really needed to make that happen more often because that way, she would have time too chill before class started. Stopping at the little table, Janelle took a moment to make use of the lint roller. Once she was lint free, she entered the classroom.

And the point of de-linting herself was what? It was quickly replaced with cobweb ickiness.......everywhere. This was getting ridiculous. What was the deal with the spider webs? Janelle brushed off her clothes and face with her hands and tried not to be creeped out by the nasty feel.

Getting herself together, she turned her attention to the Professor. Hello Professor Flam.....steed. What was he doing? Janelle figured she'd get the answer soon enough. "Hi there", she said to her housemate as she headed to an empty seat. Taking a tissue out of her bag, Janelle proceeded to dust off her equally web covered seat. When it looked fairly presentable, she sat down and got ready for class to begin.

Of course there were those dratted cobwebs everywhere. Adi smacked his way through them, casting the non verbal Scourgify on himself and around him as he went. Really, it made no difference if he helped get rid of the webs. They just popped right back up. He was more convinced that THERE was an infestation of spiders around despite what he had told Professor Glendower at the Barrels.

Arriving a the classroom, he noted Thornton at the doorway. Awh. Look at the kid. The spiderwebs were obviously grossing him out. Adi didn't blame him. "Scourgify!'' he though, helping the Ravenclaw to clean up his clothing and face. "Thornton? It's alright. The webs haven't got you.'' Not saying a word about how they were gone, he ushered the boy into the class. After using the link roller, the Hufflepuff bounded his way into the classroom, keeping a look out for more icky webs. "Hello, Professor! I hope you're doing well. Nice box.'' It was yellow and all. Giving the man a cheery grin, Adi went off to find a seat, next to Janelle, actually.

He trusted Thornton was okay now. His eyes trailed over to the boy as he took a seat (after dusting that too). After a while, his eyes returned to Flamsteed. What was so fascinating with the contents of that box?

Damien had not expected the cobwebs to be literally covering every inch of the classroom, nor had he been expecting to walk right through the silky, sticky, gross thread, and because he had not been prepared his mouth had been open.

HIS MOUTH. SPIDER SILK WAS IN HIS MOUTH ON HIS TONGUE, HIS CLEAN TONGUE. WHO DID THIS TO HIM??? WHAT GOD HAD HE OFFENDED??

He stood there with wide, panicked eyes, his long arms held out in front of him and his body covered and cursed the heavens. To the side, he spied Thornton, helpful, chill dude, he would save him, wouldn't he? "Dhorn. my mowth... my Mowth... Spiwer webs. Hep Meh, bwo." He said, trying his best to keep his mouth open and not swallow any of the silk.

Oh DEAR. The messy castle syndrome was spreading, and Dot wasn't pleased about that. Even worse, it looked like more Thornton wasn't handling it very well either. Or worse, perhaps, than Dot was handling it. She eyed the lint roller dubiously before taking up Thornton's hand and tugging him into the classroom.

"Professor, are you sure you want your lint roller to double as a hairbrush? I've seen what it does to spiders, and I'm not sure this is a good idea." She had a LOT LOT LOT of long, thick hair, and she didn't want to have to cut a lint roller out of it. Too often, she had to cut things out of her hair.

"Sit down, Thorny."

"AchOO!"

Ugg...these cobwebs were getting crazy. And his sneezing went right along with it. A trip to the hospital wing hadn't even helped him and Benny was muddling through. Making his way into the classroom not even bothering to clean off, the sixth year just attempted to avoid as many as he could. "Hello Professor," he greeted, not sure the mess would qualify as a good day for most. Not him at least, between the sneezing and the reminding about cobwebs and spiders and the happenings of last term.

"Hey..." he greeted Adi after catching himself from sneezing the latest time. The few other students already there got vague acknowledgements. He took a seat beside his friend after half-cleaning it in vain and setting his stuff down. "Achoo!" It got through this time while he was preoccupied.

Sigh.

Okay...

WHY were there so many cobwebs in this school?! Kate was starting to feel like the place was getting overtaken by them, and soon, they'd be forced out of their dorms and classrooms and out to the grounds to get away from them. Kate swatted a few away from her, all the while closing her lips together as tightly as she could to avoid getting the cobwebs in her mouth.

"Hello, Professor Flamsteed," she said, but she had no idea if he'd actually reply to her. He seemed really curious about some box. Oh, well. Kate had learned that most classes started with mysterious things behind curtains, in boxes, or stored secretly in corners. Kate swiped a few more cobwebs off her seat and sat down.

COBWEBS IN HER HAIR!! THERE WERE COBWEBS IN HER HAAAIRR.

Lux was trying not to panic as she tried to get them out. "Ewwww. Ewwwwww. EWWWWWW." So gross!! What was with this castle and being so dirty all the time lately? ...Was there something wrong with the house elves? If something happened to them, Lux would NOT be a happy camper.

"Hello, Professor Flamsteed." Honestly she wasn't sure if he even heard her because he seemed so intrigued with that box. Well, she couldn't blame him because she was too. Curiously she stared at it for a moment before making her way over to her seat.

Adi, Benny, and Damien got waves before she resumed trying to get the cobwebs out of her hair. "Could someone help me, please?"

Hair emergency over here, people.

Had his... face just be scourgified? Thornton reached up and rubbed it a bit with his now web-less hand. Something about that spell oh his skin always made Thornton feel a little... over-scrubbed. Looking at the Hufflepuff, he nodded his head a bit. "Uh, thanks?" A towel maybe would have done the trick too... but well, at least he wasn't webby any more.



He'd barely had any time to consider taking his seat when he heard... well, he assumed it was his name, but it sounded like someone was pinching the person's tongue with their fingers. Turning slightly, he saw Damien in a predicament not unlike his own.

"I.. could try to fish it out with my wand..." like, just stick it in there and try to catch the string. But, Damien was significantly taller and so the younger student just sorta peered up at him.. would 'accio' work, he wondered?

His puzzling, however, was interrupted by a tug on his hand.



He allowed himself to be dragged away and deposited near a desk. Sitting dutifully at her command, Thornton looked up at Dot but didn't speak. This room was a mess. What were the house elves doing. Looking back over his shoulder, he felt terrible having left Damien with the web still in his mouth.

Maybe accio would work. Pulling out his wand, Thornton looked over at the older Gryffindor and cast. "Accio cobweb." Only, he hadn't focused nearly specifically enough. Which was why there were a whole host of cobwebs flying through the air, right at him.

"Oh cruppies."

Yuck...cobwebs! Henric brushed them off from his uniform with the lint roller provided. SERIOUSLY...had all the spiders in the world came to seek refuge in here? It was getting tiring to always put a self-cleaning charm upon himself every morning. He walked into the classroom to greet Professor Flamsteed with a smile,"Hello Professor, what's in the box?"he asked, curious as well. After staring for a few moments, he then went to find a seat at the front. He hoped it would be less webbier at the front than at the back. He waved his wand to clear any excess residue left before taking his seat. No lacey webby bum for Henric that was for sure ...

You better believe Toby was using that lint roller today. All these cobwebs were kind of completely ridiculous and every time he felt them clinging to his skin it made him jump about a foot in the air because he was a thousand percent certain that it must be a spider crawling on him. His heart was doing overtime and his life expectancy had probably dropped by about ten years with the STRESS of SPIDERS (on top of NEWTs too, AND the other, uhh... animal issues around Hogwarts). But he was managing to keep himself in positive spirits one way or another.

Not noticing the sign alterations, 'cause he'd seen it before every Astronomy lesson for the last seven years and never really expected it to be any different, Toby took a good long while to run the lint roller all over his uniform, even taking that extra time to awkwardly reach around and try to get his back with it. It didn't really work so well, and Toby ended up being all elbows and staggering off painfully into the stone walls as he lost his balance during the process, but luckily he hadn't exactly been walking backwards throughout the castle anyway, so he was already pretty cobweb free.

As soon as he stepped inside the classroom, though, he was assaulted by more cobwebs, which essentially meant he'd just wasted the last five minutes. He let out a small "eeep" and FLAILED, batting the cobwebs away so he could get to his usual seat, and shuddering at the horrible creeping feeling that was occurring.

FINALLY, Toby reached his seat, and dropped down into it after wiping it clean. He took a moment to brush at his hair and uniform with his hands again, trying to keep the grimace OFF his face. No spiders pls. Pls no.

"Evening, Professor Airey," he said at last, looking up towards the professor after blowing the cobwebs off of his desk. Toby had already opened his mouth to say something else, when he noticed the box and his brain stalled and, instead, he breathed in a cobweb that happened to be floating towards the floor, right past his mouth, from the ceiling. Toby FLAILED AGAIN, and immediately started COUGHING to try and GET THE SPIDER GRAPPLING LINE OUT OF HIS LUNGS.

Oh Merlin. Hopefully Airey wouldn't think he was being DISRUPTIVE, 'cause it had taken Toby a LONG time to get over that P.A.D. lesson. Mainly 'cause he was a dramatic little cinnamon roll but STILL. COUGHCOUGHPLS.

Abby entered the Astronomy classroom and got a face full of cobwebs and sighed this was a common feature around the castle what was going on and she used the lint roller on her robes and placed the lint roller back for the next student to use and made her way over to a desk and took a seat she was already had cobwebs about her so she didnt mind sitting on a cobwebby seat and said "Good morning Professor Flamsteed"

You know what AJ wasn't tired of? Cobwebs. It made her feel like she was constantly walking through a haunted house and who could be mad about that? Now if only she could find some actual spiders to add to her jar collection in her dorm. Her pet spiders looked like they were getting tired of each other. Some new faces were needed. As it was, she wasn't having much luck in that department.

There was a lint roller hanging from the ceiling. Nice. AJ rolled herself down, but she was pretty sure there was some cobwebs in her hair. If she didn't take the time to brush her hair before class, she wasn't about to take the time to lint roll it down either. What? A girl had more important things to do... like hunt for spiders.

A mystery box. Ohhh... AJ was intrigued. Forgetting for a second that her very own head of house had BETRAYED her, she walked over to him. "Can we eat what's in there?" she asked as she rocked back on her heels. Oh, and a little side eye for you, Airey because AJ suddenly remembered the point loss thing. Yeah, she had technically forgiven him, but it still hurt. If had not been for a missing Pebbles she most likely would have marched straight to his office and told him that he was being unfair. She was trying to let it slide. And maybe she hadn't fully forgiven him just yet.

A lot of the homies were already there. Adi, Benny, Lux and her sister Abby all got smiles and waves. She wanted to know what was in that box, but she didn't wanna get too close to Airey's suit because cobwebs would surely send him over the deep end.

Okay on his way to class, Zander had basically walked through a million and three spiderwebs. What was going on?! Did all the House Elves decide to quit or something? Or were the Acromantulas still angry about what happened last term? Because if they could all just forget about that forrest incident everything would be all fine and dandy, Zander was sure. Were these the tidal waves Professor Flamsteed had talked about? Because in that case... Oops?

As the Gryffindor approached the classroom he stopped outside to pick up the lint roller. It was pretty much routine now. After having questioned it for the past few years, he finally decided to just give in. Because apparently, with Flamsteed questions weren't very helpful 'cause they'd only really lead to more questions. Or more confusions. Or... Y'know, pretty much the same thing.

Except... The sign was different today? Uh.

Lint rolling his hair didn't sound like a very good idea... At this point he had finished up his robes by the way. But his hair? Uh. Then again... Last time he didn't do what he was basically told to do... Very bad things happened. And he didn't need his Head of House to get angry with him again... No more tidal waves, please.

So the Gryffindor began lint rolling his hair because Professor Flamsteeds sign said to do so. Except... The lint rolling didn't go on for very long because uh, the lint roller... It was... STUCK? "OOOOWW!" Tugging at the lint roller only tugged at his hair, which HURT. So um. Lint roller in hair and handle in hand, the Prefect walked into the classroom with a pained looked on his face. Ahem. "Uh, Professor..... I think you need to fix your sign... Also, there's a lint roller stuck on my head." That's it. He was going to get another haircut. And um, help please?

The state of the school had gone from bad to …BAD. It was a horror to make his way to his classes while battling the hanging webs that seemed to be everywhere. Occasionally there was a clear path because someone had cleaned it only to get through it again a minute later. His black hair had silvery streaks in it as the webs stuck to it. He had stopped using ninja moves when a web touched his face and only concentrated on getting to class. This time it was Astronomy and he was glad to be a Gryffindor this time for his common room was close by the classroom.

The Professor had been right about one thing. The House elves had to be part of this. Why else would they neglect their cleaning?

The worst part of this all was that he could NOT USE ANY CREAMS! The webs would stick on his face and hands even more if he did. He missed his face masks. He ignored the lint roller outside, no point, and entered the classroom. It looked a bit better than outside , possibly the professor had tried to clean up. Yoongi grabbed his phoenix wand and pointed it at the place he wanted to sit. He muttered an incantation and the seat was web free, then he pointed it to himself and repeated the spell. Feeling refreshed , he sat down and waited for class. Not bothering to help out others. If no one asked, he would not help, they weren’t helpless babies.

.......And then their Prefect walked in, with the lint roller stuck in his hair. Was he that naïve or? Naïve as he was, he was still a good guy who promised him to borrow his notes for his OWL studies. But he wouldn't help because the Prefect was already going to the Professor. Instead he watched with an amused twinkle in his eyes.

If there was one thing she was glad of… it was that she wasn’t arachnaphobic. Although she couldn’t remember seeing a single spider, in the back of her mind she knew they must be here… they must be in the castle somewhere as they were slowly but surely taking it OVER with cobwebs and silky strands and yup. Lets just say, right now, Marsha was happy to love all animals.

Walking into the classroom slowly, Marsha had her wand out in front of her. She didn’t really want to kill the spider’s homes, but she would like to get to class and without them all over her. So she moved some to that she could get through. Finally, being small was good for something. ”Hi Professor.” She called out, though she wasn’t sure if her Head of House actually HEARD her… he looked deep in thought… about a box. Surely he knew what was in it if it was for his class?

”Ouch, Zander that looks sore.” she called out as he tried to get Professor Airey’s attention. ”I’ll do my best to help you sort it?” Y’know… if he sat in a chair and she stood on the one next to it. What was with everyone being so TALL? Heh. He could always sit on the floor and she could sit on the chair… but then the cobwebs would be all over him… if they weren’t already?

Oh Gosh.

Maggie refused to use the lint roller outside the classroom. Because that implied that her clothes were dirty or, well, covered in lint. Which they were NOT. Thank you very much. She knew how to take care of herself. So once outside the Astronomy classroom, she didn't even notice that the lint roller was in fact NOT there. Nor did she read the sign.

Not that she would've used that lint roller on her hair. Like ????

She had noticed that the people walking in before her were complaining about the cobwebs. They were EVERYWHERE lately which didn't exactly put Maggie into a good mood. Luckily for her someone was right in front of her so she made sure to stay close so she would be shielded from the cobwebs. There was hardly anything that would be worse than having cobwebs in your face.

EW!

Once inside Maggie's eyes fell on Zander....and the lint roller in his hair. Wow. He was so dumb. Like. Seriously. She offered the professor a bright smile in greeting while walking past the two. Actually...wait....she turned and made her way back to where the Prefect and Professor Flamsteed were standing. "OH NO! Do you need any help with that?" The hair issue.

See, she was SUCH a nice person and-

HEY!

There was some little girl trying to RUIN her idea. EXCUSE YOU! Maggie glared at Marsha, turning her head to make sure Professor Flamsteed didn't see it.

No, girl, you are NOT stealing Maggie's thunder there.

Zander walked in and all eyes on him because he had the freaking lint roller stuck in his hair. Snort. She expected this to happen to a girl honestly. This was the exact reason why she did NOT bother rolling her hair. It was already a hot mess. Add a lint roller and she was looking at a buzz cut in her future.

Airey would understand? No. Of course he wouldn't, but perhaps he wouldn't notice? He currently had his own prefect stuck in it sooo it wasn't like she could use it anyways now. Not to mention it was pretty much a waste of energy. The cobwebs would be back.

Back to Zander. Everybody was offering help, but nobody was actually doing anything. AJ had to refrain from getting up and yanking it out of his hair. She thought about it. She really did. Instead she decided to have a little fun with him.

"Professor, Zander's hogging the lint roller," she said as she gave him a wink. Kidding. She was totally kidding. Zander definitely didn't want her kind of help. She was doing him a favor really.

No lint roller outside. So yeah, it hadn’t been used on Heather's clothes. Not that it would have mattered anyway, since COBWEBS. Seriously, the problem was getting ridiculous. Especially since she had to use the cleaning charm constantly just to get through the corridors. Vacuums. That's what the elves needed. It would suck up both the webs and the little web builders. Then again, muggle devices tended not to work in the castle so........

Anyway, Heather continued into the classroom using her cleaning charm. "I think thieves are afoot now, Professor Flamsteed, because your lin....." Then she saw the missing object in Zander's hair (plus two lint rolling buddies caught in the webs). "Nevermind." she finished, plopping into a seat, after giving it a good cleaning of course. Blech.

Sophie Brown didn't have a fear of spiders or cobwebs or anything else that generally encompassed those two terms, but THIS was a bit out of hand, even for her. Batting away cobwebs with every step she took, she ducked around them and avoided them as much as she could - of course cobwebs still clung to the rest of her body as she went, but for now, she just made sure her head was free of them.

Focusing on this task, Sophie hadn't noticed nor acknowledged the sign about the lint roller nor where the lint roller normally was as she hadn't expected any of it to be any different than it had been for years AND she always de-lintified before coming to class, but she DID notice the commotion geared around one Zander Adair. She stopped in her trek toward her desk near Tobes and peered through the cobwebs with curiosity - for a moment, she considered teasing him a bit, but... then she glanced up toward Flamsteed and thought better of it.

No tomfoolery in his class. But she DID give the professor a smile and wave of acknowledgement, but no further greetings from this Ravenclaw as the male Gryffindor prefect currently was the focal point of the room.

Instead, she ventured through the cobwebs and cast a cleaning charm on the cobwebs that had taken up residence on top of AND under her desk, then wiggled into her seat beside the seventh year Hufflepuff who, understandably, looked like he might perish from fear and discomfort - actually, by the look on his face, he seemed like he'd just been spazzing out over something, so... Soph offered up some encouragement in an attempt to ease his nerves.

"If I see a spider near you, I'll get it, okay? I'll be your protector." He knew well enough that Soph was relatively unfazed by spiders, so she assumed he would welcome her offer. She had his BACK.

After using her lint roller to get all of the lint and cat fur off of her robes, Penelope entered the astronomy classroom. Why were there so many cobwebs in here? It would take a lot more than one lint roller to clean that up. "Hello Professor Flamsteed!" Oooh, a box with a question mark on it? What was the box for? Penelope moved a little closer to the box, not noticing that a lint roller that had previously been tangled in cobwebs had become stuck to her back. There didn't seem to be a sign saying not to touch the box, but after what had happened to her in previous astronomy lessons she didn't want to push her luck. Brushing a few cobwebs off of a chair she took a seat and waited for class to start.

Norah stopped outside the Astronomy classroom to brush herself off with the lint roller like always, except apparently it wasn't there. But there WAS a prefect there, the Zander guy to be exact, which was probably 87 million times more exciting than normal lint rolling. A lint roller in his HAIR. If this was some sort of protest against normal hair brushing, then she was all for it. If you thought really long and hard about it like a grown up and how they find meanings in the weirdest things, then it was almost like getting a lint roller stuck in your hair was just like how TRAPPED you were when you had to brush your hair even though you really really really didn't want to. Man, this dude was a GENIUS. She stopped thinking in the adult-y symbol kind of way because it made her head feel like it was going to explode, but gave the prefect a thumbs up and a grin as she passed. Way to go, Zander. Maybe he wasn't as strange as his sparkle-hating tendencies made him seem.

She'd hoped the tangle of webs would be gone by the time she entered the classroom, but NOPE. Not gone. Very very much there. The fourth year's grin disappeared. Webs meant spiders and spiders meant all the bad things that could ever happen in the entire history of the world which meant Professor Flamsteed only got a dull wave that ended in a little spasm because ALERT ALERT A REAL LIVE BIT OF SPIDER WEB WAS STUCK TO HER FINGER AND IT WAS BADBADBAD NEWS. Waving her hand until the bit came unstuck, she turned to it down just to find MORE webs sitting on there. Uh. UHH. No. She was not going to sit down, thank you very much. Norah stood beside her desk and held her bag to her chest, willing Professor Flamsteed to do SOMETHING about the mess of webs with a close-mouthed stare because mouth opening could lead to horrid things too. A spider web in the mouth was probably even WORSE than broccoli, and if that wasn't a tragedy then the HUfflepuff really didn't know what was.

Janelle had organized everything and was more or less ready for class to start. When she looked up, she saw a familiar face making his way toward her. "Hi Adi", she said with a smile. As he sat down beside her, Janelle's smile grew bigger. "How are things going? Ready for another Astronomy lesson?"

Janelle wondered what Professor Flamsteed had in store for them today. He seemed really fascinated with that yellow box. Watching him was entertainment enough for Janelle and she tried hard to suppress a giggle.

More spider web, eww. Zhenya was frantically trying to pull it all from her face. They were just everywhere! She didn't really see a point in using the lint roller, but she did anyway. Surely she would just get dirty again?

Professor Flamsteed was there, busy with something? "Hello Professor," she greeted him, not wanting to disturb him too much. What was in the box? Zhenya was sure she would either find out soon, and if she didn't, it would probably all be for the best.

She pulled a tissue out and wiped down the seat and table before sitting down and pulling her things out.
