. ⌦ OOC things to keep in mind▸ All SS Rules and SS RPG Rules apply at all Astronomy threads at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS
▸ Please know the difference between In-Character (IC) and Out of Character (OOC). In-Character, my character is Airey Flamsteed. Out of Character, I am Pixie. Please don't confuse his actions with mine or take IC actions personally towards you as an RPer. ⇉ In Character Offenses will be punished in character. This means your character will lose house points, receive a detention, have their mouth magically removed, however Airey feels your character should be punished shall be done.
⇉Out of Character offenses will be punished out of character. Therefore, you the member, will receive a warning or infraction in accordance with SS site rules. ▸ Please do not change your answers or add any new information AFTER you've posted in the lesson. I will know if you do! I have ways. Changing your answer won't earn any points.
▸ If the lesson has begun before you post arriving to the class please do not think this means you cannot join! YOU CAN! Just pretend like your character has been there the whole time and jump in with the lesson - no matter what stage of the lesson we are at. Posting your character walking in after the lesson has started will either result in IC consequences to be determined by Airey.
▸ DO NOT just copy paste your answer somewhere form the internet. I will be checking. Use your own words, please.
▸ Remember that your character is a student which means that they are at Hogwarts to learn. Astronomy can be a very complicated subject and there are concepts and details that an 11-year-old, for example, should not know. It is OKAY for your character NOT to answer a question and for you to simply post them listening and taking notes. Creative and incorrect answers are also encouraged. Points are NOT given to correct answers only.
▸ if you ever have ANY questions on ANYTHING please do not hesitate to PM me, sweetpinkpixie.

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf It is important to remember that every school staff member has a different grading methodology that works for them and their particular subject. Here is how I go about grading lessons and homework for your reference:
Generally speaking, I try to keep my points divided 15 points for a lesson and 15 points for a homework (so there is an "equal" opportunity for those that don't have time to RP a full lesson).
It doesn't always work out that way if a lesson needs to be more involved, so there may be times where a lesson will be worth 20 points and the homework 10 points. ⌦ Lessons
With my lessons, the activity always counts for a majority of the participation. Anywhere from 5 - 10 points will be awarded depending on how many questions I have planned to be asked before the activity starts - although most of the time activities with be worth 10 points. Each question asked in class is worth 1 or 2 pt of the overall participation (depending on the level of difficulty of the question) and if you post a response to it, you get credit - whether or not the character actually answered IC. However, I may not give full credit depending on the content of the post - the more thoughtfulness and IC voice posts reflect, the better the chance for full points. As long as the question was addressed in the post (either with character's thoughts or spoken words), full credit will be given. I have been asked by some members before about why they didn't get full credit for lessons, and the most common recurring reason is because of direct copy-pasting from wiki or another internet site. In those cases the post may be awarded a 0 or a 1 depending, again, on the overall content. Just make sure you put effort into your posts and don't copy directly from another internet source and you will be set for full points. And, like it says in the OOC classroom rules above, correct answers and incorrect answers BOTH receive full participation points.
The same goes for activities. Each required post in an activity is worth approximately 2 points. As long as you stay on task (even if IC the student is struggling and whatnot) and are contributing and reacting to the classroom environment, then full credit is given. In summary: participation points are based on whether or not a member has included an IC response to each question asked and then completing the in class activity in its entirety. Thoughtfulness, effort, and IC voice are taken into consideration as well. If you show up and put in the effort play, you will be rewarded for sharing your time. ⌦ Homework
Besides the requested information listed in the OOC rules above, homework is generally graded in the same manner as lessons are.
The largest difference is that while I tend to grade lessons with an OOC perspective (like I am an outsider looking down on the lesson), homework first goes through an IC filter where Professor Flamsteed with grade for "correctness." After he "grades" a person's homework, I go over it with my OOC perspective and grade as well. This is why some people may receive 8/15 + 7 EC on assignments. A reason for this will be given to the member when points go in, but will generally have an IC explanation from Professor Flamsteed and then an OOC one from me [ in brackets like this ]. These "extra credit" points are awarded for creativity (despite incorrect answers), thoughtfulness, and to make sure that members are not "punished" for keeping homework IC.
▸ if you ever have ANY questions on how your assignment was graded, please do not hesitate to PM me, sweetpinkpixie.
