The desks were set up in an oddly ordinary fashion; straight rows, with individual tables and chairs respectively and a larger desk at the front of the room. Josephina was sitting on the larger desk, ankles crossed, as she half turned and was focused on evidently trying to pick up sticks with . . . another stick? Oh yes, the Arithmancy Professor has probably lost it.
Hardly paying attention as you entered the room, you should first notice the cursive handwriting on the chalkboard, which needless to say looked rushed:

Please take a seat and have your parchment and quill ready. Class will begin shortly.
OOC: This lesson was meant to open already, but due to working unscheduled this morning, *headdesks*. The lesson will begin in an hour or so. Please keep the chatting to a minimum; that's what the second floor corridor is for. =)
Class has begun. Please pretend as though you were here all along, <3

Oh, now this was a class she was looking forward to. Mostly because magic wasn't needed and it was all in the mind! That, she can do.
Making her way to the lesson, in a particularly good mood, the Slytherin entered the classroom, noticing the rather usual seating arrangements (thank Merlin) and then the Professor....
Huh. What was she doing?
"Good day Professor Hadley." she said quietly, her eyes flickering from the Professor, to the sticks, to the chalkboard...and then to the seat she mentally claimed hers. Hmm that one right there in the middle. That one was hers.

With an inward groan, Sierra Greingoth gently pushed open the door to the Arithmancy classroom and stepped inside. She'd already made up her mind that she was going to absolutely, positively, without a doubt, loathe this class. She just couldn't imagine sitting for hours on end and doing numerical calculations. She'd much rather be back in Charms class throwing water balloons or even Care of Magical Creatures class doing a three-legged walk.
She walked slowly to an empty desk and slid her way into it. She didn't stop to talk to the professor. The woman seemed to be preoccupied with some game involving picking up sticks with other sticks. Now if Sierra could do something like that all class period, she just might be a little more interested in the subject she was about to learn. Nevertheless, the woman looked to be a nice person, so she'd give her a chance.
Jacob walked into the classroom nervously, his brain taking in every detail, his eyes moving quickly over every inch of the room... it didn't seem like there were any maze walls gonna run into him.
His eyes finally fell onto Professor Hadley... "Hello professor" he said and then went on to ask the question that had been bugging him since the class was announced. "No Maze?" or random two's.
He moved to a seat, and took out some parchment and a quill
Luin walked into the class, excited to be in another first class. She was really enjoying everything, probably just a bit too much, she was always one who loved books and learning, and so this was just another way that she could put herself to good use.
She looked around, noticing there were a couple people in the class already. She turned to the professor and said, "Hello Professor." and then smiled and took a seat at the front of the class. bringing out her quill and parchment. She thought she would like this class, another very structured one, like potions, and she really did enjoy that. She took her book out as well, although she had already read everything that she could.

Arithmancy, a class Marie was sorta good at. Which is the only reason she was going to the class today. She still wasn't in the mood to be in classes but she had already skipped enough of them so she figured she better go to at least one this week.
Walking into the room she seen Evelyn and Sierra already there. Not in the talking mood though she chose to sit in the back of the room as far away from everyone as she could. After reading the instructions on the board she got out her parchment and quill.
Okay, now to wait for class to start... and get over.

The Slytherin lad strolled into the classroom, sparing a momentary glance at the Arithmancy teacher and called out "Mornin' Pro--"
And does a double take. Eh?.... what is she doing?
Tilting his head curiously on one side he slid onto the seat by the front-- practically directly in front of her, leaned in and whispers not so silently "WHAT ARE YOU DOING PROFESSOR?"
*beams*

Selena skipped into Arithmancy without knowing what class she was in before she saw the professor. Blech. She had entered Arithmancy... which meant a lot of numbers. Wasn't it too early for numbers? Still, she kept a smile on her face as she greeted the professor. "Hello professor Hadley, how are you today?" she greeted before she walked over to a desk and sat down. She took out a few sheets of parchment and a quill like instructed on the board and straightened it out on her desk. Something told her this was going to be a long lesson...

He'd say he'll come, right? That's why Treyen made his way towards Arithmancy. No promises made, though, Hadley already knew he wasn't particularly fond of the subject nor actually good at it.
But, either way, he was here. "Good day, Professor," he said, with a nod towards Hadley, and walked inside to take a seat.
Riley walked into the Arithmancy classroom and was happy to see that he wasn't late. He was actually one fo the first few people here. That was good, considering he had just made the last second decision of attending this lesson. He was pretty sure by now that in his sixth term he was pretty awful at the subject but might aswell get some learnin's when you could.
Nodding to the Professor who was.....playing opperation on sticks with stick...ooook, Riley headed into the center of the room in a desk where he was surrounded by Slytherins. Lucky him, they were nice people. He layed his books down and sat down in his chair waiting for class to start.
Lexi made her way into the Arithmancy classroom with her bag hitched up on her shoulder, heels click clacking on the floor ever so slightly. Taking a look around the room she made no effort to smile at anyone or acknowledge their presence. Why waste time on frivolous nonsense. She was there to TRY to learn. She plopped into the nearest desk from the door and dug out parchment and a quill. Sighs. Arithmancy was not her forte. At all.
Eino entered the Arithmancy classroom feeling rather discouraged considering the subject was so difficult and so boring, and his bed was so soft and warm. But he had finally dragged his body all the way to the second floor and into the classroom. He took a seat in the second row and began to set up his desk before he noticed the writing on the board. After he had already placed his parchment, quill, ink bottle, and textbook on the desk he looked up and read the instructions. "Dear me!" He exclaimed feeling as though he had broken a rule and returned his textbook and ink bottle to his bag. It only said parchment and quill after all, but he supposed how he would write without ink. He bid his lip and looked around the classroom. Maybe other students knew about a charm that made a quill write without the use of ink. He was very worried.

This was another class that she only attended because of who the professor was, and not because it was her best subject. So with a smile she bounced into the classroom and opened her mouth to greet the woman only to close it again. She was playing that game...the one she couldn't remember the name of! Not wanting to break the woman's concentration, she instead sent her a smile, and took a seat beside Treyen. "Hey, Treyen." He got a smile as well, but her attention was soon averted back to the professor and the nameless game. Was she any good?

Strolling into the classroom, with his bag hanging loosely off one shoulder, Patroclus grinned at the professor as he pasted her, "Morning Professor," he said brightly.
Finding a desk, Patroclus quickly followed the instruction that were written on the board; he took out his quill and ink well, unrolled a sheet of parchment and smiled. The smile was genuine, but deep down the boy was slightly nervous. Arthimancy like Astrology always ended up confusing the boy. He was much more of a physical learning, rather than numbers and codes.
But he tried and that was the best he could do.

Sebastian walked into the Arithmancy classroom. He finally noticed who the professor actually was and he mentally wanted to smack his head. It was the same professor who had seen him, Evan and Sophie in the corridor that one day. Hehh.. "Good morning, professor." He said with a smile and took a seat, next to Selena. "Hello short person." He said with a chuckle, taking out a piece of parchment and a quill.

Selena looked up from the doodling she was doing on the edges of her parchment when she heard someone call her short person. "I'm a munchkin, tall person, and I'm proud of it," Selena said sticking her tongue out at the abnormally normal tall person who ate... a lot. "Jealous of my height," she muttered under her breath as she went back to doodling on the corners. She drew a chocolate bar... hehehe.

Caroline walked into the Arithmancy classroom. she found a seat in the middle of the classroom. She took out her parchment and quill out of her bag and waited for class to start this was one of strongest classes and hardest. She liked it because of the challenge it was to her. "Good Morning, Professor" she said

Ah Arithmacy...a class that had two plusses going for it at least in Simon's book. One he was decent at the subject and two it was one on of the few classes he enjoyed where the professor hadn't changed over the summer. Stepping into the classroom, his bookbag on his shoulder, he spotted the professor and gave her a polite smile.
"Good day Professor," he greeted curious as to what she was doing but hearing the question already asked, moved to take a seat to await the class to begin.
Selina walked into the classroom and took her seat. She was interested to start this class, however, it had seemed to start later in the year than her other classes. It was an interesting class, but she did not know where even to begin here so she waited.
Right. So, Ellie was going to apply the same rule as she did with Ancient Runes, which worked perfectly; she'll come to the first lesson, if she gets lost, she won't come anymore. She could possibly be dropping a LOT of classes this term. But she really liked Hadley, so hopefully Arithmancy won't be on of them.
"Hi Professor," she smiled as she walked passed and took a seat.
Huh. So, she prepared herself to NOT be confused. It'll probably happen, anyway, but at least she'd have tried, right?

Emily entered the classroom, "Morning Professor" she beamed, she was looking forward to Arithmancy, it was a very interesting stubject. Emily took her seat at the front of the class and pulled out her parchment, quill and ink and set them down on her desk.
Looking around the classroom she was hoping that her friend Claire wouldn't be late to class.

Josephina had heard voices and feet enter the classroom, but she kept her focus on the task at hand, which was picking up sticks with another stick, which meant unfortunately, she didn't even look up to acknowledge those kids who greeted her and dared interrupt her game. Though the sound of something else was what cause her to break her gaze as the sticks all moved around.
"Ugh," she murmured under breath, as she turned to find the cause of the distraction.

"Miss Denver!" Josephina called out, as her eyes fixed upon the blond fifth year. "Five points from Gryffindor. I do believe I made a request to wearing comfortable shoes, explicitly no heels for the ladies." Nevermind the fact that she herself was wearing a pair of one-inch heels; but she was the professor. She was covered if she got injured from the heels, but if the students got injured, then parents might be having at her head.
Back to the class. Some of them she believe asked what she had been doing. "Playing a game," she answered nonchalantly. "Lesson will begin shortly ... we'll just wait a few more moments for those last minute stragglers. In the meantime, see if you can recognize what game I was playing." Cause now it was back to trying to pick up the sticks with the one stick . . .
