As you enter the classroom you notice that this looks exactly like a normal everyday classroom. Desks lined up in rows and Professor Sokolov up at a his desk in the front lounging in his chair. The only difference is what is written on the board behind Professor Sokolov would not be be found in any normal school. Runic Alphabet. That is what the students would be learning today.
Also each desk has a rune engraved in it. But that is for later.
Right Underneath Runic Alphabet. He wrote
No Assigned Seats sit where you please
Come in and lets continue Professor Sokolov trying to remember your name.
OOC: Hey Everyone! I will be moving in about 24 hours. Also while this is the OUR first lesson together it is not YOUR charrie's first lesson
Will still be moving on in 8 hours. Just Drama and couple answers

In time this one would learn too, then there would be no more rubbish talk about 'trying' and 'only needing some practice' and 'a little help goes a long way'. No thank you. He'd heard it all and wasn't interested.
"Considering these tend to be used to enhance magic and I don't intend to use that, I don't think I can find any applicability for these." Which was a shame. He didn't like learning things that would prove to be of little use to him in the long run.
Proper shame that was.
"But will you do enough to pass you OWLs. You will need to do not just bare minimum magic for those. Unless you plan on dropping out. But that is a conversation best left to your Head of House. Its still useful to learn the language even if you don't plan on using magic"
After those it was his choice and his education after all. If they don't really want to learn magic then there is only so much you can do

She knew all the galdrar ok? What was FAR more exciting than that was invoking the runes. WAAAY more fun. Speaking of, why not invoke the one of the galdrar on her desk right now? THAT would be fun! Yeah! While people were answering and the professor was talking and all that, Char got her wand out and used it to prick her finger, then watched her fingertip as the tiniest bit of blood began to well up. Yup.
Under her breath she murmured the galdr for kenaz, as she ran her fingertip along its carved length, letting the blood fill the groove.
kenaz kenaz kenaz
ku ka ki ke ko
kun kan kin ken kon
ok ek ik ak uk
kaunnnnnnnnn
And.... the desk burst into flames. Charlotte scooted back in a hurry but soon realised the flames weren't burning anything, but STILL. FLAAAAAMES. FIRE.
WAY more exciting than the textbook, professor!!!!

Wait! There was FIRE! Char had made fire happen, but it seemed to be safe? flames. It wasn't out of control or anything. It was settled strictly on the desk ...
.... but she needed to get a better look, INSTANTLY reengaged and curious.
"How did you do that?" She asked, dancing over to her friend's desk.

"I stuck blood on it and invoked it!" Charlotte said happily, and then followed up with an admission under her breath, "I got bored." There were certain subjects that were kind of way more fun when stuff was happening, but stuff never really HAPPENED, so she was sure Liv understood this. Char much preferred spellwork classes for this reason, and the hands on things like herbology and creatures. But RUNES COULD BE HANDS ON.

"I have Othola." The mispronunciation was an accident as Liv had never heard the rune's name spoken aloud, but her mind was already racing with glorious possibility! Would something similar work with the one carved into her own desk?! Though, she did remember the professor saying that different runes did different things.
What would HERS do?!?!
....and since Char had muttered that bit about being bored, Liv forced her own voice to drop in tone. "Show me how?" That would help her not be bored, surely!

And then it suddenly occurred to her that there was in fact a professor in this class and MAYBE he would get mad because, yo, her desk, it was on fire.
She peeked over the non-burning flames at the professor.
Um. Whoops?
Hi?
Viktor knew his class was going to smoothly. Questions being asked and Answers being given. But of course something had to happen and that was a kid starting a harmless fire. Viktor stared at the fire seeing if it was spreading or burning. But nothing.
"Miss Kettleburn. Would you mind extinguishing your fire like Mr. Asakura said. Nice work but we really don't need a bonfire right now. And yes they can help with achy muscles""
Well there goes what they would be doing to end the class. Though he did not expect her to use blood. As for the other one. Well he cant fault her for wanting to learn what Kettleburn had just done. Might have been helpful to kill the fire. But maybe he was expecting to much from Gryffindors. Still they had not insulted the class or threatening to leave.

Having completed her notes or well what she thought was needed for the Rune she had on her desk Hady had just turned her attention back to Sokolov. She was just about ready to get to work on writing down the chant that went with the craving on her desk when suddenly her desk began shaking. The surprise of it was only enough for her to drop her quill, in which she quickly picked. Hazel eyes turned to check out the desks near hers only to see that just one was doing the same. Brooklyn's. Hady gave her a curious look but said nothing for as quickly as the shaking had started it had also stopped. Odd.
Odd was normal around here though. Shaking her head slightly she decided to get back to work only to hear shouts. Sitting up in her chair she glanced around, eyes landing on a desk that was on fire. What in the world?!
Rather then put the flames out seeing as how they weren't actually burning anything Hady kept an eye on it. What had happened over there? Did it have something to do with the Rune craving or did someone set the desk on fire. She would watch it a bit longer and decide. Then came the professors direction for Charlotte to terminate the flames herself. Problem solved.
Hady turned her attention back to her work but was already distracted on what it was she was supposed to be doing. Therefore she turned her attention onto her notes she had taken.

He really was not in the mood.
Genny stopped at the door and listened to what Stony Professor had to say. There was roaring in her ears which was probably her heart, and she didn't find what he said soothing AT ALL, on the contrary it was even more provoking??? He was threatening her with points??? After what he did?? Hell NO.
She left the classroom and did slam the door behind her.
So much roaring in her ears and so much anger. What did people do when they were this angry??? Ugh.
Hold on just a second. Genny Tate was walking out?
... But that was Daxton's line.
He watched her go, looking lazily between Sokolov and the Gryffindor girl, and oh-so-casually ignoring the burning desk, because he knew it was just a matter of Charlotte Kettleburn Charlotte Kettleburning. The slamming of the classroom door barely even elicited a response from him, bar the slightest of flinches.
Not to be outdone - and because this lesson had already proved to be nowhere near relevant to his interests - Daxton got up out of his seat and followed Genny Tate out of the classroom, though with nowhere near as many Gryffindor dramatics as she had displayed. Not that he had any plans of catching up with her, but if it appeared that way then it was as good an excuse as any to take his leave.

What was happening? Carl looked up as he heard some desks shaking. Why would somebody do that... oh, they were not doing it on purpose. It was probably invisible Peeves pulling a prank or something.
Just as he was about to turn his attention back to the lesson, the Hufflepuff saw Miranda beside him, looking a bit confused. He could not blame her, this class was difficult for him too and he was a big Third Year. "Miranda? You okay? If you are stuck, I can try to help!" He said.
As Professor Sokolov spoke, Carl looked up at the board again. Galdrs. He had no idea what those are, probably because as the man said, they were not in the textbooks. The Galdr for Ehwaz really did look funny! So Galdrs were incantations for runes. He thought he understood.
He thought hard about a possible use, until... a Gryffindor's desk burst into flames. He jumped, then stared at the burning desk. Runes were indeed cool! Pretending not to see the small drama happening about putting the fire out, he raised his hand. "Does it bring success?" He said. After all, the rune carved into his desk, Fehu, was about prosperity and the like.
Miranda was watching all the excitement going on around the class as different things began to happen to the desks.. different things that must be the reason for the Runes carved into them... Whoa!... Pretty nifty indeed... and then Carl was talking to her and she was completely distracted....
" Oh... Hey. Carl... Ummm... Yeah... Having a bit of trouble understanding all of these different variations and things..." She smiled shyly as the third year boy offered his help. but nevertheless scooted closer to him so as they could talk more about class.
" I'd appreciate it, Carl... Truly... It's got me turned round that's for sure... "

Ok so apparently it wasnt an earthquake. Runes man was unperturbed... so its all good right? But Tenacius had to wonder when the Prof said that galdrs wasn't covered in their textbook.... because there's whole bunch of consonants and vowels strung together staring back at him on the page.
So how is he supposed to say his Rune thing?
.................
..........
...
You know what he's going with the book. Nothing wrong ever came out from reading a book riiiight?
So he starts "ingwaz ingwaz ingwaz
i i i i n n n n g g g g......."
.... Oh look Char's desk is on fire.
....................
..............
......
.... Profy man still unperturbed? Wow the grit on this guy. He should work for Customer Service. His dad would loooove that kind of guy that can get yelled at all day by pretentious busy bodies and still carry on.
Genny though? Not Customer Support material. Look she just walked out-- and took 50 house points with her
*silent groan*
-- but wait theres more. Apparently Grumpyguy (his nickname for Daxton) also got up and left.
"Uh.... class dismissed?" he's about ready to bolt too, since theres a couch in the common room has been calling his name for an hour he can hear it mmhm.

Char's desk was one fire. Char had started a fire and Livvy was now making her way over to it. Under normal circumstances, he might have scooted a bit closer but to be completely fair, he was sitting close enough to Char that he already had a good enough vantage point to see. No doubt she'd done it because she was bored and he wouldn't really say he blamed her--so long as the flames didn't spread and attack his quill and notepad. No wind blowing about, and the flames seemed harmless so he could relax he supposed.
Reluctantly, his attention swayed back to the Professor who was giving him the same talk he must have heard a million times. He could have told him he didn't care (as he truly didn't) or that OWLs didn't scare him or that he'd do more than the bare minimum when the time came but honestly...in his experience...if you kept talking they kept talking and the boy was decidedly done talking about magic so he gave a simple nod of his head.
Whatever you say Professor.
More interesting than whether or not he would attempt magic in his exams was Genny Tate. He wasn't sure what she was angry about, but he also didn't care. Hogwarts made people angry, all the time. Whatever it was, he was sure it was justified. Somewhat less justified? 50 points from Gryffindor. 50 was a lot, like a whole lot and though he didn't care who won the house cup, he didn't think he'd ever seen so many taken in one sitting for something that wasn't extreme like fighting or going into the Forbidden Forest or like messing with a Professor's office. This was definitely....new. Blaise remained silent, his quill scribbling away exuberantly despite his own indifference. A brow was raised as Daxton got up and followed suit.
Patiently, hands clasped on his desk, the boy waited for Ravenclaw to lose 50 points as well. Fair was fair, no matter how much he agreed with Daxton's actions and how badly he wanted to do the same.

So it wasn't a fake one. Nat nodded at Paige as she spoke, "I just can't find it in my... Oh" It was not in front of her on the board. So it had to be in her book. She sank a bit in her chair, maybe the lower she was the more invisible it would make her. Professor wouldn't call on her if she wasn't see able, right?
Jotting down what he said she looked in her book once more and this time found the stupid Rune. Oh ehwaz it meant movement like he said, but the horse part caught her eye. She loved horses and remembered how Alex once told her she should be a trainer or something with them. She took some time to write down notes and then tried to figure out the next part.
Gladr, but before she could even get to that point a desk was on fire.... She watched as the class just went to crazy. Desk was on fire, now a girl was leaving the classroom. What was everyone's issue?
With all the commotion she had forgotten what they were doing again. With a quiet voice and shaky hand she put it in the air, "Excuse me Professor. Should we try the words or what are we doing again?"

Azura was just sitting there, trying to figure out her runes when desks started to movie. She looked up at the Professor as he asked a question about Galdr's? The word was rather foreign to the girl and she tried to remember what she has heard about them..
And then there was fire.. And people walking out and she nearly groaned as Daxton left as well. There went points for Ravenclaw as well. She sighed softly as she went back to puzzling out the Galdr..
Cause uhh.. She didn't have much of a clue what was going on in this class anymore.

Having already retaken her own seat and allowing her mind to wander towards more inane topics, it jolted Liv when Tak suddenly stood up and began speaking at Char. To be honest, her feelings weren't all that hurt over the correction, as she was still learning and Char knew more than she did about Runes in general. Liv was bound to mess up names at first, and a good friend should always help you out; making sure you were saying things in the right way and not making yourself look silly.
...... But Tak's caring definitely had her grinning from ear to ear.
Feeling a wave of affection for her friend, the blonde pressed her face against his arm, grabbing for his hand ... only to tug him back down into his seat. It was all good. There wasn't anything bad going on. She was okay.
.... And Trixe got much the same treatment. All was well, Trixe!love. "He was just being protective of me." Surely being her BFF, Jenkins couldn't fault him for that.
......
.............
Also, why was everyone leaving the lesson? It wasn't over yet .... right? And Genny had just lost A LOT of points, too. She didn't care so much about that, as she knew the girl would earn them back. SHE HAD ALL THE FAITH IN HER FRIENDS. Yep.

Ravenclaw should lose double of that.
Slytherin should be AWARDED triple of that.
Hufflepuff gets zero.
That's how it made great sense to him. Like, LOOK. Skinny 'Claw guy was dipping, too, while Slytherin peeps were being polite and respectful--on the outside.

The girl was correcting Liv on how to pronounce the rune. Quietly he stood up and turned to the girl.
"Why are you worrying about correcting her when you just set a desk on fire? Just put it out and don't act like you know everything. "
LOLwhut?
Who was this smol Slytherin boy trying to tell her things? Charlotte was genuinely puzzled though because uhhh why wouldn't she correct her friend 4 lyf? If you said any magical spell wrong you could make bad stuff happen, and it was the same with runes. Was he threatened by her rune skillz? Poor thing, he didn't need to be! She would help him too! She was also puzzled by the 'act like you know everything' for several reasons, 1) wouldn't it be the best to actually know everything? Totally would. 2) She was PRETTY SURE she didn't know everything or act like she did 3) Her aunt Briony was right about boys being intimidated by girls with brains probably!
"Its not very nice to be rude like that you know. I'm helping her, Liv's my friend." The 'and who are you' remained unasked because this was CLASS. And yes, her magical fire was still merrily burning away.

Wasn't it COOL, Owen? She looked at him to check that he was also watching the awesomeness that was fire-by-rune and smiled at him encouragingly.

When Trixie rounded on the strange new slytherin boy, Charlotte just watched and nodded. Yeah! Chill out. Can't they all just get along? There was nothing bad going on here, and they had a fire to look at!

Just when he thought he was getting complete control back Daxton Prince had to follow Miss Tate's lead and leave also. He was more surprised he stayed this long than anything else. But at this point Viktor was thinking of just ending class anyway. So he was just a little early. Still he will be telling Hirsch about this. Why he had to tell Head of Houses and couldn't just do all this on his own. He did not know. But cant do anything about that now.
He saw Kettleburn extinguish the fire so that was settled. "If you two want to learn how to do that safely and with different runes you can meet me in my office whenever you're free. That goes for anyone else as well" Now Salander was asking if class was over. Which at this point he probably would not be getting their full attention anyway considering all that was happened. And now that he was getting asked what they were doing.
Sigh.

Echo knew that she knew the Galdr to her Dagaz rune she just had to find it in her book.... She couldnt find it in her book, it had to have been in here. Not paying attention to anything she heard that the class has ended.. "Oh Professor is it okay if i just stay and figure this Galdr out for my rune?" it was just killing her that she couldnt find her page..
Hearing students leave and packing up their things she looked up, yup class was most defiantly over, Shoving her face back in her book she screamed "YES!" she knew she saw it in her book.
Pulling her parchment over to her she wrote down the Galdr down

Still seated, still waiting.
No homework. No more of this...but still........nothing.
Just as calmly as he'd been, the Fourth Year raised his hand. "Will you be removing 50 points from Ravenclaw as well Professor? I'm curious for my story." He nodded in indication of the quill that was still busily scribbling away. "They've both walked out."
While he waited, he began packing away his things. Equality. At the end of the day, if they weren't going to have a lesson the least they could do was make it fair.

While he waited, he began packing away his things. Equality. At the end of the day, if they weren't going to have a lesson the least they could do was make it fair.
He figured most would be running out. But not Mr. Bellaire. What did he want. Well that is a surprise question and blunt one as well. Besides the fact it was an actual fair one.
"50, probably not, it was more for saying the lesson was useless out loud when i can hear it. I don't care if you think it just don't say it out loud in my class. Then for leaving. But you raise an excellent point. I just cant let him not lose points or would set a bad example."
He was but now it was publicly pointed out. Well it changes things. Even if it is Daxton. Now how much...25 seemed fair since its half of what Miss Tate lost. Mr. Prince was at least quiet and didn't slam the door.
"Just 25. Will that be all Mr. Bellaire?"

Kimi packed up his belongings and walked out of the classroom a bit sad that the lesson had ended early but he was looking forward to the next class already

The professor was moving on which was fine by Cassie. Galdrs. So that was what the focus of the lesson was going to be on. The incantations that could be used to properly make use the magical powers of the runes in question. The Ravenclaw realized that was what made the difference between what the muggles knew and what wizards did about them. Listening intently to the professor, she copied Ehwaz onto her parchment as well as the galdr that was soon written on the board as well.
Before she could think of uses however, drama erupted in the class. First, a desk on fire in front of a Gryffindor girl. Someone may have gotten ahead of things. And then not one but TWO students decided to leave despite points loss and who knows what else could potentially follow. The lion was being dramatic and Cassie had to fight the urge to roll her eyes, but a fellow Ravenclaw? Cassie looked to the professor to see what would be done and bit back a sigh when they were dismissed just when she wanted to continue.
Oh well.
She did make note of the offer for assistance outside of class as she got up and gathered up her belongings. “Good day, Professor,” Cassie said politely as she took her leave, moving with her classmates out of the room.

To be honest, being quiet and unoticed was sort of his specialty. Unless he stood up in the middle of the class to yell at someone. It wasn't exactly a thing he normally did. But the way the girl had spoken to his friend, it didn't sit right.
Glancing over to another girl who spoke to him, Tak rolled his eyes. "Shut up." No one could tell him what to do okay?
Only when he felt Liv's face pressed against his arm did he realize that maybe...maybe he had misjudged the situation. Eyes landing on Liv he frowned as she tugged him back to his seat. It didn't really...occur to him that Liv and the fire girl....and the other girl might be friends? Shaking his hand away from hers he sunk in his seat, thinking about things. "I don't care." He responded as the fire girl addressed him. And it was true. He didn't care if he was being rude. Or not nice. In his mind the girl hadn't been nice.
But it didn't matter now did it? Since Liv was friends with them and so he had spoken out for no reason.
Bitting his lip he turned his attention to the door as another student got up to leave. His eyes widened just slightly as he caught sigh of the boy before he was gone.
Maybe Blaise was right? Maybe Hogwarts did suck.
The moment the Professor dismissed the class Tak stood up and rushed out the door. He wasn't looking at Liv or any of her friends for that matter. Life was less complicated, and easier to understand when you didn't have friends.

The last of his things had been packed by the time the Professor was through with his response, leaving the boy a few moments to digest it before providing his own response. It made sense, logically, which worked for him. Like he said, he didn't care very much for the points or the cup but equality was a hell of a thing to start trampling on. There was no coming back from that. It was simply...the principle of the thing.
"No, Professor, that was all." He said, giving the man a solemn nod. His issue had been resolved. "Come on, mate, we can hit the kitchen before our next class." Now that they were released way early and all.
He was feeling like he wanted a sandwich.
Off he went.

Well, okay.
Olivia had been ready to proceed, eager to learn something else! Char had taught her that bit about blood and runes, and the Professor had mentioned runes for the healing of achy joints. Given how much pain her legs were in most days, that really interested her ...... but before they'd carried on with the classroom discussion, class had been dismissed.
Liv didn't really feel like she'd taken enough away from the lesson. And that was unsettling as she'd actually put her mind to participating today. BUT, well, he looked like his mind was made up.
Packing up her bag, the blonde looked around for Tak; hoping to have a word with him, but he'd already vanished.
Welp, hope he was comfortable with being chased.

IT WAS OVER? BUT... BUT... She had raised her hand, she had a question. A legit question about this stupid subject. SHE WAS TRYING!! What was even the point if he was just going to ignore people and end class without really doing anything?
"What a waste" That was proof, she was done. She shut her book and gathered her things. "Thank you for the help today Paige. We should hangout sometime." TRhe seventh year was nice and Nat always had free time on her hands now.
Heading out of class she didn't give the Professor another look.

Class was just OVER? And Char had set a desk on fire... which was SO Char, really, but instead of getting in trouble, she'd gotten invited for more lessoning? That wasn't fair, now was it?
And professors OUGHT to be fair. It was in their job description.
Was it? It should be. She'd write to her father to ask.
"Professor!" Katy waved a hand around, in spite of the fact that class was over and people were leaving. She stood and waved it HIGHER. "PROFESSOR, sir. If you're gonna be teaching people how to light fires, can you do it in class or invite everyone? I just think maybe I'd like to learn that too, and even though Char will teach me, since she's my cousin and she shares well enough, you should teach me too." That's all. Fairness.

Another Question. He was just going over the total points lose he had given just now but this was a fair question also.
"You will be learning how to light fires and other galdrs this year. Don't worry. And i did invite anyone who wanted to learn if you were listening. So sure if you want to learn then yes i will teach you. Study partners or groups are good too"
Since it seemed like Miss Kettleburn did have knowledge on the subject. Just stating a fact. He did not care about the cousin stuff. It did seem like most were wanting to learn.
Awesome.
Just next time he will have to show who is in charge.

Eyes still on her textbook looking over galdrs when her nose picked up the distinct smell of.... "Smoke?" she said aloud, blue eyes tearing themselves from the page because where there was smoke there certainly would be....
................fire.
Charlotte's desk was on fire.
UM UM UM UUUUUUUUUUUM.....wasn't there a rune that meant ice? Using that could..maybe kind of sort of fix the problem? Or just getting her wand out and casting Aguamenti would do the trick...but she was ALL the way in the back of the room and Paige was fairly certain that her spellwork would not reach all the way to the Gryffindor's desk. Nor that her aim would be accurate enough to actually hit the desk and not either of the two Gryffindors.
And the Slytherin boy had a point...and there was just a LOT going on right now that was making Paige's eyes widen like an owl's and all she could do to react was blink.
So much blinking.
And people were walking out.
And there was fire.
And apparently a selective earthquake earlier.
And she wasn't hearing Nat despite her sitting right next to her either.
O V E R S T I M U L A T I O N.
Oh but the fire was out now....and she was supposed to be doing...what again?
Oh right, practical uses of galdrs...which she had apparently missed the complete answer to with everything else that was going on....but at least she had found the one pertaining to the rune caved in her desk? Looked as though she was going to have a date with her textbook that evening. Sigh. But no thank you, professor, she would prefer to get comfortable with the theory before diving in to practical use. Or else it would be more than a desk that was set on fire under her watch, surely.
..................classed dismissed?
Blinking a few more times for good measure, Paige turned towards Nat as the girl began to leave. "Oh, yes, of course," she smiled, offering a small - but confused - nod because that had been a whirlwind of...something. Paige began to timidly pack up her things, her mind swirling with questions but ironically incapable of putting any of the thoughts to words.
So, in silence, Paige bowed her head towards the professor to thank him for his time and left the classroom.
