Oh, and now she was onto the phoenix tears. Riiiight, lets just continue on with wasting something as valuable as phoenix tears for a stupid, meaningless lesson. Well Marie wasn't going to do it.
And apparently neither was Evan. Watching him walk out the door after he cleaned up his work station Marie did the same. First she evenescoed what was in her cauldron, then scourgified it and put it in her bag. She then cleaned all her other items and packed them away. Once that was done she put the remaining ingredients back where she got them. "I will not take part in wasting something as important as phoenix tears just so you can make us drink a useless potion." she said as she walked back to her work station, grabbed her bag and walked out the door.
Holy Merlin, what had she just done? Walked out of a class that she was now protesting that's what she did. A class that was taught by her Head of House. A woman that could make her life miserable.
Oh well, no turning back now. What was done was done and that's all there was to it. Hecate merely shook her head. Why would you ask a question, only to leave before the question is answered? "For anyone who cares, the definition of chop is to cut into small pieces. As we drew the knife perpendicular to the strands of knotgrass, we chopped it. AND for anyone who didn't hear me the first time... WE ARE NOT DRINKING THIS POTION." Merlin. Quote:

Once it was ready, she carefully measured out one teaspoon of powder. She headed to the front of the lab walking carefully with the spoon. She swallowed and asked, "May I p-please have a phoenix tear, P-professor?" And well, she was curious about this step of the process, but should she ask? " And, Um, I was w-wondering why we add the t-tear to the bicorn horn b-before adding it to the p-potion?" "Yes," She said and added the tear to the bicorn horn. Quote:

But he couldn't. The prefect stared at the animated liquid, an obvious look of sickness on his face. Phoenix tears were so rare... so precious. One or two could save a person's life. This magical substance that could cure a person swiftly dying from a basilisk's venom, that could close a wound that would kill a man before a healer could help...
"It's a waste." The words were barely audible, his voice probably not reaching anyone not in his immediate vicinity. "Such a waste."
He didn't move from his seat to get the phoenix tear, nor did he make any motions to get up and leave the class. The cauldron before him continued to simply exist, the half-finished potion still in its metallic stomach.
He wouldn't do it. He couldn't. A slowly warming contempt began to boil in his stomach for those who would, and were, doing it. Did they not understand? Did they not care? People would DIE for these tears. People would DIE without them. He could have died. Hecate noted the prefect didn't come up. "If you aren't going to finish your potion, Prefect, then please clean your cauldron, and just observe the others." He could at least pay attention to the rest of the class. Quote:

Actually, it was a slight knock in the head, not hard enough to really knock someone out, but still! Pssh. Dangerous little Ravenclaw.
Cleaning her mortar and pestle, the Slytherin put the bicorn horn in and started to crush it. It seemed like it was taking forever to crush for some reason, but, a good imagination could always help! Thinking of it as a certain…someone’s…head, Evelyn finally got it to the right consistency before placing it on a spoon. This was…weird.
But, whatever the potion needed she supposed…
How did people remember to do these things? Actually, how did people even know what to do in the potions in the first place to invent them!? Just messed around with stuff?
Standing up, she went over to where the Professor was, keeping an eye on her spoon so she didn’t drop any of the crushed bicorn horn. Nope, she didn’t like dropping stuff. "Professor…ready for the phoenix tear." Phoenix tears. Hmm, were they really real? Or was she just saying that... "Here you are, Miss Flores." She said giving the Slytherin a tear.
"Once you are finished with your potion, bring it here." She pulled out a box. "I will check them and grade you." She said as she sat in her chair and pulled out an empty glass jar from a drawer. "Jarod, Crocker. Start picking up each leech one by one and place them in this jar. And be careful, they are hungry."
