Morag: Hello Sophie. Thank you so much. I’m glad you loved it so much.
Quote:
I loved this part. It's so nice to see Tom settling down and I think it's s cute to have a Young Tom! He always puts others before himself but I'm glad he's looking out for himself. He seems to take fatherhood in his stride!
Yeah, I’m happy to give him a life he can live for. He needs happiness too I think. And yes, I think fatherhood does become him. I kind of envision him to The Lion King Mufasa.
Quote:
Aww Harry, Dumbledore only wants whats best for you! It may not seem like it but for the long-term, he's looking out for you!
Ahh, yes, but it seems he always has ulterior motives.
Quote:
I think Harry needs some space, guys. I know your looking out for him but give him an hour to himself- he'll come round!
I think he’s pretty determined Sophie.
Quote:
Aww please don't cry Harry. Dumbledore and Ginny are here now, though, I worry that Ginny might be quite scared as she is still young, though, so is Harry
Yes, I agree with you whole heartedly, but, sense JK is the one who provided the story then I had to make the best of it.

My favourite thing about this post is the fact that everyone is looking out for Harry.
I love it too. I think it’s great Harry has such great friends who are loyal to him unconditionally. Thank you, Sophie, for reading and commenting.

Emily Black: Hello Emily. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Quote:
Awe, poor Harry I always felt bad for him because of all of this.
I know it right?!
Quote:
I wonder what he wanted Ginny for And what will he do now that Harry knows? Will he erase his memory? But that won't do much good will it? If he's got the memories Pomfrey gave him? Fantastic post, Connie! Please PAMS!
You’ll see tonight. You bring up a good point! Why would he erase his memory if Madame Pomfrey’s gift can just bring it back? Unless, if his memory was erased, and he took the book from him. Hmm, we’ll have to see. Surely there are things he can do. Thanks for reading and commenting Emily.

Miss Weasley: Hey there Katie girl!

Another great chapter... seems I say this alot doesn't it? Well, you can't change the truth, can you?
Thank you for that sweetie.
Quote:
I'm so glad that Harry finally stood up to Dumbledore! He may be old and look like he's going to blow away, but he still has to face-up to his decisions, as good or bad as they are!
I think he realized this, and maybe he’s going to fix things up as they should be. We’ll see though, he is unpredictable you know.
Quote:
I had to laugh when you had Dumbledore tell Ron and Hermione to stay put... when have they ever done what they were asked to do when it comes to Harry? I mean, they're just too nosey for their own good! I also enjoyed how you had Harry and Dumbledore disappear so quickly. You have to really watch that Dumbledore; he's a slippery weasel!
I think he told them that to give him and Harry enough time to disappear around the corner undetected. Yes, he is slippery! I wonder if he might have Fawkes waiting around the corner for him. Or maybe Dobby is there waiting. Or does he know some sort of magic nobody else knows?
You’ll just have to make it a Kiwi in your mind. It is a lemon to the end. Thank you for reading and commenting sweetie.

Thank you to each reader for staying loyal to us here. I hope you enjoy tonight’s chapter. Next week is the last chapter, and I am reserving the right to withhold the title. The Epilogue will be following the final chapter.

CHAPTER FORTY FOUR

Crookshanks Tells of His Past

Ginny nodded her head silently as she looked around the room she appeared in. This was not the head office, but a room without any doors. It did however, have a lot of whirring and whizzing gadgetry. Bright and colored lights made a dazzling display of intrigue and wonder.

There were windows, but the scene outside was not the Hogwarts’ grounds. One was looking into a room where there was a small girl and two much older boys playing Ring Around the Rosie.

Another window was looking into each of the common rooms, where it appeared that it was before daybreak. They were all empty, simply because all the students were in bed still.

Then there was a window with a swirling Quasar and a beautiful Nebula.

And lastly, there was a window showing the Headmaster’s office. A clock was on the wall with the hands going backward. She saw another clock with the hands not moving at all, and still another clock with the hands moving the way they are suppose to move. Calendars were hanging with years gone by and years to come. Ginny walked up to a calendar and looked at a date that caught her eye—“Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley’s wedding.” Her breath caught and she moved her eyes to the date. But, before she could see the date, Dumbledore spoke.

“That’s enough of a peek into what could be,” he said softly, his eyes twinkling and a sweet smile on his face. “Now, to the matter at hand, as you see, our friend Harry here has been waiting to be brought back to the present.”

Ginny looked at him then back to Dumbledore. “Sir, are we in a different time … zone … er …something?”

“Actually, we are in between time at the moment.” He watched her as she stared at him with her mouth slightly ajar.

“But, how can we be ‘in…between time’…Professor?”

He afforded himself a small smile, for he did love it when he was able to talk of his brilliance and not be boasting. “It’s simple to explain, yet inconceivable to understand if you don’t know exactly what you’re being told. For you and I at this moment, in this space, time is irrelevant, for we are not progressing into the future as we normally do, nor are we going in the past, as we never do. We simply exist in between. When we move out of this space, we will either be exactly where we were when we entered, or I can bend space and go either to the future or the past. It works on the theory of the Time Turners that are in the Ministry of Magic at this moment. Only what I have made is more precisely a Tesseract, a four-dimensional extension of a cube. Some refer to it as a fifth dimension.

Just as Ginny was gathered up enough to speak, Fawkes appeared with a very bewildered Sirius Black and Lissydove. They all stood there speechless and looked at Dumbledore. Then Sirius saw Harry and strode over to him. He put his hand on Harry’s shoulder, and then looked into his tortured eyes. The state of anguish and tears on his face worried Sirius.

“Albus! What is going on? What’s wrong with him?” He didn’t take his eyes off of him as he cupped the boy’s angry face in his hands gently.

“Harry has learned a great deal of information that he’s too young to understand at the moment. I can’t help him understand it either, or I would. I need to learn quite a lot more myself before I know enough to begin to act on it.”

“What is it we’re doing here?” Sirius asked.

Crookshanks spoke for the first time since he walked in the room behind Dumbledore with Harry.
“Please, may I speak?”

Dumbledore’s eyes went to the cat, and a new dawning came across his face. “My old friend, Tom! So, its Crookshanks now, is it? I was most sorrowful when you died with James and Lily. How is it for you then?”

Crookshanks turned into Jim. “If I may, Sir, this form is much more suited when I am to do much talking.” He held out his small hand to offer a handshake, as is common for some humans to do upon civilized greetings. This he did for Dumbledore, because he had just started to stoop over to pet Crookshanks when the cat transformed. Dumbledore lost his composure for a second and exclaimed in happy surprise, “Jonathon!”

“My name is Jim when I’m in this form. I am doing just fine, Albus. Thank you for asking. I am also just today, rather yesterday, a proud new father.”

Dumbledore hid his surprise quickly, shook the small boy’s hand and smiled friendly. “Oh, delightful! Congratulations then. I’m most pleased for you to join us then, Jim.”

Ginny, at first, when Crookshanks spoke, jumped in alarm at seeing him talking. She grabbed Sirius’s arm and was going to get behind him, but recognizing Sirius from the posters, except noticing she didn’t remember him looking so charming and gorgeous in the wanted pictures, backed away from him and stood behind the immobile Harry. When she recovered from the double shock at a talking, transforming cat and seeing Sirius, she looked back to Dumbledore and the little boy, Jim talking.

“All right there, Ginny?” Jim asked her. “I’m sorry for the shock to you, but we need to get on with this.” Ginny smiled slightly with one side of her mouth turned up. She only grunted her acknowledgment.

“I’ve been feeling, ever since I got to Hogwarts, an electric charge in the air, every now and then. I figured it was all the magic in the air. But it was most noticeable late into the night. The fur on my back would stand up most annoyingly. Not a whole lot of magic goes on throughout the night. Then I started getting bits and pieces of another memory of a previous life. The electric charge I’ve been feeling brought back some more pieces of my memory.

I was born in Camelot in the year 1890, and raised by a Great wizard named Merlin. Sometime close to 1920, a young knave stole and sold me for the price of a year’s rent and food for the family of the knave. The new owner killed me to keep me from escaping back to Merlin. This wasn’t a huge tragedy in itself because I was at the end of my thirty-year life span, only I didn’t have my master to bond with to retain my memory. Indeed, when I came back to life, I didn’t have a clue who I was and meandered around after I regained my freedom. I was living in the marshes during a time when magic, deemed evil was a most dangerous era to live in. Different times I was captured and I would always escape, but with much expense to myself. The nearest I can figure, is one hundred forty-four years I’ve lost and unless I lose anymore lives needlessly, my lifetime will expire around 2016. I should have lived through the year 2160. The reason I recognized the energy in the air, and figured out finally what it was, is that Merlin was working on perfecting the same thing as you have here, Albus. Only he just called it a Time Machine.”

“This is quite fascinating. Now what led him to work on this? Do you know, Crookshanks?” Dumbledore asked him with bright twinkling eyes.

“He said that whenever magic is used, time, in the form of energy, is dispersed. He wondered where it went. So he started experimenting with time.

His first experiment was with an enchanted rock to move twelve inches back and forth in a timed interval in a tube. He drew all the air out and created a vacuum. The rock appeared on the other end of the tube, then back to the first side again. It did this numerous times, until the tube imploded. From this, he gathered that when time is changed, the used energy has to go somewhere else. If it doesn’t then the energy builds up and starts pulling everything in around it till it implodes. He then decided that the world would implode if magic was continually used and the energy wasn’t displaced, so he decided that a parallel time had to occur, and that the displaced time went there. If it didn’t, then tears would exist all over the world, and to his knowledge, there weren’t any. So, he discovered that when magic is used, time is actually being bent. That’s when he decided that …”
