Ug...sorry my updates are taking so long...here is the beginning of chapter 2 and I will try to put up the rest in the next day or two.

Chapter 2: Crossroad (part 1)
Will you marry me?
It was a simple question really. It was so simple that Charles had practiced saying it over and over again in front of a mirror, in front of his friends at work, in front of the dog, in his dreams…but, he just couldn’t bring himself to ask Yukie. It had been a whirlwind of a year since he was first assigned to travel to Japan by the British Ministry of Magic. After his first report about muggle customs he submitted after his first two months in the country, he had been transferred to the Japanese Ministry of Magic Department of International Magical Cooperation. When he wasn’t at work, he had spent most of his time with Yukie. At first, he found her so simple, not being able to use magic and being completely ignorant of the wizarding world. However, after about three months of her being his personal tour guide and translator, he had come to appreciate her simple lifestyle where magic wasn’t necessary.
He put down his glass of whiskey on the table and leaned back in his chair. That was the problem though. She was a muggle. Charles took a deep breath before taking another sip. The Someya family dog, an female Akita named Hana, came up and sat next to his chair. “Are you worried too?” He laughed slightly as he reached down and scratched her head.
“Worried about what?” came Yukie’s voice from the kitchen as she carried a simple lunch of sandwiches and apple slices and set them on the table. “Are you having trouble at work?”
Charles smiled smugly as he took one of her sandwiches. She had no idea how much trouble work had been causing him. The week before, some wizard the next town over enchanted a suit of samurai armor to walk around and help him in his rice field. More than 50 muggles had seen this and, with how much Japanese love their cell phones, it was naturally all over the muggle internet and countless cell phones all over the country. It had taken half the Ministry to take care of the problem. Of course, he shared none of this with Yukie. As far as she knew, all the copy machines in the office had broken and he was the only one who knew how to fix them.
“No, work is going fine,” he replied taking a big bite out of his sandwich. At work, he got to use magic all he wanted without being afraid of being caught. Here, well, he had to be much more sneaky. It had only been about three weeks after he had arrived that Yukie’s father had approached Charles and told him that he knew he was a pure blood wizard. Charles had been taken aback by this fact, but Yukie’s father seemed to be overjoyed. It had actually been him pushing for Charles to court Yukie and he almost treated it like it was a business agreement. Yukie, being headstrong and willing to tell Charles off, had immediately captured his heart and it didn’t take them long to begin dating and it seemed like it took the two even less time to completely fall in love. Still, despite this unexpected happiness, Charles felt like his insides were eating him every time he tried to propose to Yukie. He knew there was something he had to do first.
“Actually,” he said as he stuffed the last half of the sandwich in his mouth. “I need to go out of town for a few days on a business trip. I’ll be back before you know it.” He gave Yukie a wink and she blushed slightly.
“I’ll miss you,” she sighed leaning on the table. “You know you are the only person who keeps me sane with my father around.”
“I am sure you can handle being with him just fine,” he chuckled leaning down to scratch Hana behind the ears. He finished his drink and rose from his chair. “I’ll see you in a day or two,” he said as he leaned down and kissed her gently. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Yukie smiled looking out the window for a moment. “Where…are you going?” But when she had turned around, Charles was already gone. She always wondered how he was able to vanish so quickly. It was almost as if by magic.
