"Well, look who we have here!" She beamed sarcastically.
"Lavender, what is your problem?" I asked her.
"Oh, I guess you didn't hear then?" She smirked at me.
"Lavender!" Dean said in a warning tone.
"About the baby?" She continued; I shook my head.
"Is everything ok with....with...it...I mean the baby." I was sure she was having us all on but I hoped for the sake of my niece or nephew if she was pregnant that everything was ok.
She huffed and rolled her eyes. "There was no baby!" I was correct.
"What!" I shouted. "You mean you...you lied about the whole thing."
"Well, not exactly."
"You better get your story straight!"
"Well, I assumed Dean would have told you?" She said, turning her head and looking up at Dean.
"Don't bring me into this!" He said backing away from us.
"Don't bring you into it? You were in it from the start. You started it!" She seemed angry at him. I didn't understand; how did this have anything to do with him?
"Can someone please tell me what’s going on?"
"You want to know something, back a few months ago, when you were with Dean, because you wouldn't let him do anymore than kiss you, he came to me, looking for some fun. We got drunk and woke up next to each other one night after a Quidditch match. So we met up in the room of requirement. We had regular meetings, every evening after dinner." She told me with a smirk.
"Is this true?" I looked to Dean who had a sorry expression on his face.
"I'm sorry Ginny. I was going to end it. I was so glad you did it first though. I'm so sorry."
"After all that grief you put me through once I broke up with you. I thought tonight we could maybe start over as friends, but now, I don't think that’s possible." I told him. I felt so betrayed. I could feel the anger boiling up inside me. One tear spilled out over my eye. This was too much to take in. "And what about Ron? All that about him being the father of a made up baby. You are so sick!" I spat the words at her. "You pretended that you had another life growing inside you. And even worse, my brother thinks he is the father of a child he knew he couldn't help conceive. You are a twisted, horrific little.... Grrrrr." Was all I managed to get out.
"Well, Ginny." She began. "I didn't know if anything happened between me and Dean and if we did, like do it, there was a possibility I could be preggers as I was due ...."
"Stop! Stop! Stop!" I said with my hands over my ears. But she continued. "However, as it goes, it turns out, I was just you know...late, and Madam Pomfrey confirmed for me, I am still pure." She smiled to herself, obviously pleased she clearly got her point across.
"So why would you blame Ron?" I asked as I thought it myself.
She nodded towards Dean and said, “Well, he’s not exactly a father figure is he? And then...”
"Wait and Ron is a father figure?" I butted in.
"If you'd let me finish..." Then she continued "... And there was also the possibility if Ron fell for the lie that he'd come back to me."
"Dream on Lavender. I'm out." And I turned on my heel and headed back towards my living quarters.
