Hogwarts RPG Name: Janet Lynn Gordon Fifth Year | Werecats are people too! Reader of Fan Fictions Miss Weasley: Hello Katie, Thank you so much for commenting. Quote:
Connnie!
It's a chapter full of love in all of it's glory! I loved the way you had Ginny slip-up while she was defending Harry. I love to see a red-head blush! The love relationship between Arthur and Molly is one of such strength, you can just feel it, and the relationship rekindling between Tom and Harry, although Harry doesn't know it, is heart rendering! Don't get me started on Ron and Hermione! Someone needs to hit that boy over the head!
Sigh... will Harry eventually learn about Tom's impotance in his past... I can't wait for the next chapter Connie. I'm hooked. Well done!
Katie
Umm, 2 n's in my name is sufficient. Ain't love grand? Ginny's slip up was cute. I love young love when they're so wrapped up in their feelings they don't know what's going on around them half the time. Mr. Weasley does wear the pants in the family. He just lets Molly blow off steam so she can deal with all her worries she takes upon herself. I did keep wanting to let Harry to learn who Crookshanks is, but wanted to keep to the story original line. Will they get to rekindle their relationship? I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait to find out. I think someone did hit Ron over the head. I think he's starting to realize he's thinking of Hermione more than normal, and it's been a hard blow. Confused, but still able to get angry over things. Maybe to get rid of the feelings he's getting for Hermione. Thank you Katie.
To all my readers who couldn't comment I'm glad you are still reading. I hope you enjoy tonights chapter. And next weeks chapter 23, "Harry Meets The Dementors" will be posted Thurs. or Fri.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Promise Not To Do What!
The next morning was total chaos! Percy was upset because his Prefects Badge was missing. He seemed to think he needed to interrogate everyone, instead of getting ready to go. Hermione and Ginny stayed up to late talking and giggling about love interests. They were moving along much to slow for Mrs. Weasley’s way of thinking. The twins were busy playing a joke on the cute chambers maid. It’s best not to be anywhere near their target area until after the joke. Ron was still upset about Hermione being upset with him, and yet going on as if nothing was wrong, but to glare at him when they made eye contact.
“If only she hadn’t bought that monster. Why does she act as though nothing happened?” He asked him, as he watched her.
“Ron,” he said distracted by seeing Mr. Weasley looking at him nervously. “Who knows the fathoms of women’s emotions, or the way their minds work? It’s just best not to dwell on those things. It’s impossible to reason out and you’ll go bonkers trying. So, you know, forget it and move on.” Harry was starting to go over to talk to Mr. Weasley when Ron spoke again.
“Yeah, all right. Wow, Harry that was bloody brilliant! Who said that?
“What? Oh, I think it was me.” He started walking away his eyes on Mr. Weasley.
“But, how do you know that stuff? It just rolls off your tongue.”
Harry took a deep breath and gave Ron his undivided attention. “Ron, it’s just the way they’re made. It’s part of their code. It’s in our code to be baffled over the way they are. Seeing us struggle makes them feel better about things that make them unhappy.
“But how do you know this stuff, are you taking some kind of special correspondence course in, Women 101?”
“Look mate, growing up with the Dursley’s, I wasn’t ever allowed to ask questions about anything. I spent all my time observing to get my answers. My Aunt Petunia was a spectacular study. She always cried over this one rose bush. I told her, “It’s just a plant! If it makes you so unhappy, chuck it out.” She turned on me with such hate I thought that maybe she was going to chuck me out the door! Then she said my name, (which I don’t think I’ve ever heard any of them use) took my finger and pricked it on a thorn. That made me angry and I was going to chuck the thing myself, but then it started getting all these flowers all over it. They were beautiful. I felt all warm and happy for some reason. My Aunt smiled, and though tears streamed down her face, she was happy. I figure somehow my Aunt got the bush and it had been enchanted with magic, and my blood, because I’m a wizard, caused it to bloom, even though it was out of season for it. All through the regular season for it, she took care of it. Then when it was the non-blooming season, she had me take care of it.”
“How does she get by when you’re at school?” Ron asked all envloved with the story.
“She doesn’t have it anymore. Uncle Vernon saw me tending to it once and saw the flowers blooming. He said, “I will not put up with your weirdness, trying to get your Aunt brain washed.” While he was choking me to death, the trash truck stopped to get the trash; he threw me to the floor, then grabbed the plant and pitched it in the truck. Although Aunt Petunia was depressed over loosing the plant, she was furious with Uncle Vernon and she reveled in how confused he was, and how he cowered around her from then on. See the point I was trying to make was, she wasn’t happy, until he became confused and cowered to her. The plant by this time had nothing to do with the way she treated him. Her anger abated when she became happy with his guilt and confusion.
So, anyway, let Hermionie revel in her glory, even though it’s at your expense. You are strong enough to stand under it until she tires of it, and misses your friendship. Let her see you do something nice for Crookshanks, it’ll speed up the process.” He patted Ron on the shoulder, and then went over to Mr. Weasley.
“Arthur, would you please go get the twins! Up there laughing and carrying on as if there’s not a thing in the world needing done today!"
"Yes dear, but, I need a word with Harry first.”
“Oh well, not to worry, we have all the time in the world, and I’ll get them myself.” She warned matter of factly, and started towards the stairs.
“I’ll get them dear“, he said wistfully looking at Harry, and going to the steps.
“And make them give Percy his badge!”
“Yes dear.”
“Where is Ron running off to?” she asked Harry with her hands in the air.
He swung around in time to see the heel of Ron’s foot going out the door. “I don’t, err he didn’t say anything about-”
“GIRLS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” She shouted at them even though they were sitting right there at the table eating, and enjoying a quiet sly conversation between just the two of them.
“Easy Mum, we’re all packed and our trunks are there by the door. We’re just finishing our breakfast.” Ginny answered with a sweet smile to calm her mom.
“And I was going to just carry on Crookshanks because I can’t bear putting him in that cage. He’s way too big for it.” Hermione explained quickly, hoping she wasn’t in trouble.
“Harry, dear?”
“My things are ready and at the door, and so is Ron’s he added calmly.”
In just a matter of minutes, Ron came in and put the skids on, sliding over to Hermione. “Here Hermione, I noticed the cage they gave you to keep Crookshanks in was too small for him. I can see why you don’t want to keep him in it. I got this big one for him, so you can carry him to the train and he’ll be more comfortable and everything. Not that I expect you to keep him in it, just to carry him in while we go to the train, I mean,” he stopped. She was smiling at him. He shook his head, red in the face. “You do enjoy this, don’t you?”
“Thank you Ron, it was very thoughtful of you to get this.” She was warm and the smile she had on her face this time was genuine.
Ron walked over to Harry grinning and giving him the thumbs up, so only he seen it. “Bloody brilliant, you really know your stuff.” He said quietly.
Now everyone was finally at the station getting ready to board the train. There wasn’t any sandwhiches made from home to hand out, but small handfuls of change for the trolly, and hugs and kisses.
Mr.Weasley put his hand on Harry’s shoulder. “Wonder if I might have a word with you Harry.”
“Yes, of course.”
Crookshanks dropped back to listen, and pretended to be visiting with a near-by tabby cat.
Mr. Weasley rubbed his chin and wondered how to begin. Molly was right in the fact that this would scare Harry awfully bad. Still, he needed to know.
“It’s ok Mr. Weasley, you don’t have to tell me about Mr. Black, I already know. I felt like a walk last night and when I was passing your room, I heard my name mentioned. It wasn’t hard to hear at all.” He said. “I’m sorry for listening, but I’m not sorry for hearing what I heard. Don’t worry I’m not afraid. I rather guess I knew all along. It’s just a strange feeling.” Harry was happy to see the relief on Mr. Weasley’s face. Mr. Weasley gave him a quick embrace and pounded him on the back. “I’m proud of you son. Now, there’s just one more thing. Promise me you won’t go searching for him.” Harry stared hard at him. “Please Harry! You’ve got to promise me you won’t go searching for him.” He was practically begging.
Harry was still staring hard at him. “I’m sorry Mr. Weasley; I was waiting for a punch line. Now, I know you’re not teasing, but, worse yet, you think I’m, in Ron‘s word mental.” He was tired of people thinking he was mental and he could feel his temper peeking. Seeing the desperation on Mr. Weasley’s face made him feel pity. “Mr. Weasley, have faith in my reasoning skills. Let me tell you how I see things. Vol-- A seriously evil wizard thought by many to be dead, wants me dead. In addition, another wizard powerful enough to escape Azkaban is at this very minute searching for me to kill me. Is my reasoning correct so far?”
“Yes, and thank you for not saying his name.”
“I don’t know what I could have done to evoke the wrath of them, but you can believe me when I say, I have no desire to go searching for either one yet. Not just for me, but for Ron and Hermione’s sake. They wouldn’t let me go by myself. On the other hand, and be honest with me here. Do you actually think that I’m going to run behind Dumbledores robes with my teeth chattering and crying how scared I am, if those evil murderer’s make it into the school? They obviously don’t care about killing innocent people, and the school is full of innocence. Dumbledore won’t be able to hide me. They will kill everyone they can to get to me. If they get in, “he paused and swallowed, “then I have to surrender myself to them. Then they’ll leave quickly to avoid capture. I am not afraid of this happening. I don’t want it to either, but I don’t worry about it. I won’t spend my life worrying about things, and hiding over things I don‘t have any control over. I’m all about trying to find happiness. What I’m terrified about is Dumbldore, and at least some of the other Professors dyeing, trying to protect me. That’s what makes me terrified. No, Mr. Weasley, I will not go looking for anyone who wants to kill me right now, and I will not be the reason for Ron or Hermione getting killed, helping me. However, I will kill Black, and I will kill Voldemort, if I live long enough to figure out how to do it, before they find me. Once I learn how to do it, I will go after them. You can count on it. They killed my family Mr. Weasley, they have it come’en to em, don’t you think?”
Harry kissed the tear on Mr. Weasley’s cheek, as any good son would have done who’s not afraid of his masculinity being in question. Mr. Weasley was left standing there wishing he had the nerve to find those two evil wizards and kill them himself. Then there would be no chance of having this wonderful young man taken away from them who love him dearly.
