No Sweet Dreams Tonight

Mrs Weasley walked over and opened the kitchen door, before calling to the others upstairs. Dinner plates began to appear on the kitchen table, as did platters of food and pitchers of drink in the center.
"Man, I'm hungry!" Tonks cried, as she began to spoon vegetables, pork and yorkshire puddings onto her plate. Indie giggled as she also took some pork and gravy.
"Dora, can you pass the vegies please?" Indie asked Tonks, prefering to call her Dora.
Nodding, Tonks passed over the tray of puddings, as the rest of the kids joined those already at the table.
Hermione and Ginny took their places on Tonks' left, Ron, Fred and George sat opposite beside Lupin, while Anton and Bella took their seats up by Scott, Mel and Paul. That left the seat between Indie and Sirius for Harry.
For some reason, Indie had never gotten on spectacularly well with Harry. They were both in the same year, and hung out around the same group of friends, but somehow they just didn't click.
"So Harry, how has your summer been?" Indie asked, as she passed the gravy down the table. Harry took the plate of pork Sirius had just passed him before looking up at Indie.
He smirked. "Perfectly lousy to be honest," he said, filling his plate.
Indie laughed quietly.
"Yeh,things aren't much better here either," she said, picking at her food. She found she wasn't too hungry at the moment.
Harry branched off into a conversation with Sirius and Lupin, while Tonks was making faces at Ginny and Hermione to her left. Fred and George who sat opposite with Ron were silently discussing something or other, possibly to do with their new inventions which Inde was yet to see.
Her siblings all sat at the top end of the table, talking quietly amongst themselves. Mr and Mrs Weasley were quietly and discreetly arguing about something or other.
That left Indie to feel pretty left out. She finished the small amount of pork she'd had on her plate, before pushing her chair out and standing. Tonks turned from Ginny and Hermione to look at Indie, a sad and confused look on her normally bright features.
"I'm going to bed," she stated in a montonous tone, not really talking to anyone in particular. There was a small incoherent murmur of good night from some, but many left Indie unacknowledged.
Before she could get out of the room, Tonks cried out.
"Wait!" she called, as she shoved her last yorkshire pudding in her mouth and stood up. She then began to follow Indie out of the kitchen.
Indie laughed, as Tonks gave an awkward smile while attempting to chew her food. They walked slowly and lightly up the stairs toward Indie's room, which was directly opposite to Tonks'. Unlike Indie, who shared with her sisters, Tonks had a room to herself.
"No, Indie," Tonks said, grabbing her arm lightly, "we'll go in my room. That way no siblings barge in."
She gave a slight wink, her dark eyes twinkling in the dim light, before opening the door and leading Indie in.
The room was a mess. Although, Indie couldn't say that her room was much different.
"So, why did you follow me upstairs?" Indie asked, sitting on the bed looking confused. It wasn't often anybody followed her anywhere, unless it was her siblings, but they seemed fairly distant tonight.
Tonks, who was attempting to straighten up the items on her bookcase, shrugged.
"You seem lonely these days," she said, "and since I'm an only child, I could use a little sister."
Indie smiled, and looked down at her feet awkwardly.
"Too bad you aren't going to be at Hogwarts this term," Indie said disappointedly, playing with the cord on her jacket.
Both girls sighed, as Tonks' hair faded from a vibrant purple to a slightly more morbid shade of grey-ish blue.
"You'll be fine," Tonks said, placing her hand on Indie's shoulder, "besides, you know you can always write. Or come and visit me astrally, whatever tickles your fancy!"
Laughing, Indie perked up a little, and Tonks' hair brightened once more.
"Thanks Dora," Indie said, "I'll be sure to write, and I'll dob on anyone who's being nasty!"
Tonks giggled. "Yeh, I'll beat 'em up for ya!"
Indie laughed out loud, the biggest laugh and smile she'd managed in quite some time. It felt good to have a friend like Tonks. She was an unlikely friend, sure. A newly graduated Auror who was 22 hanging out with a desperate little 15 year old.
Oh yes, Indie knew it was an odd pairing, but neither minded as they continued to laugh and joke on until footsteps were heard on the stairs.
"Sounds like everyone's off to bed," Tonks said, looking toward the door and the hallway behind it, "the party poopers!"
"Ha ha," Indie added sarcastically, straightening her jacket as she stood, "I guess I'll be off to bed then."
Also standing, Tonks walked toward the door with Indie.
"That's a good idea, otherwise your Mum will have my head for keeping you up all night," Tonks laughed, opening the door.
"Night Dora!" Indie exclaimed as she headed straight across the hall to her bedroom.
Tonks waved sarcastically, smiling brightly.
"Good night, Indie," she cried, "sweet dreams!"
Indie nodded as she walked through her door and over to her bed. Despite what Tonks had said, and the fun she'd had over the past hour since the meeting, she knew for sure she wouldn't be having sweet dreams tonight.
