“Is this what you spend your time doing, you know, opposed to homework?”
I heard her voice before I saw her, and it was strange to hear these words, when I wasn’t being told off. She’d sat down to my right.
“I’m really a genius, aren’t I?” I smirked at the girl who had spoke.
She had a light shade of brown hair, and her eyes were a deep sparkling blue. “I thought so.” She chuckled. “I’m Clarisa, from Spain,” she said, with a grin.
“I’m Sirius,” I said. “This is Remus, and James.” I said. “Oh, and that’s Peter.” I’d forgotten about him, as he looked pretty small, for some reason.
Remus and James both said hello to Clarisa, and Peter squeaked something that no one understood.
“Oh, and Remus here will just be dying to know all about your school in Spain and everything.” James added, rolling his eyes at this.
“Why do I get the feeling that you two aren’t as interested?” Clarisa smiled as she said this, looking between Remus, who seemed, like James said, dying to know, but restraining himself, to James and me, and we both just looked bored.
“They’re more concerned with the food and girls,” Remus said before either of us could say anything, and now he rolled his eyes at us.
“There goes our reputation,” James said, with a mock sigh.
“James, that is our reputation.” I said, going along with it. But it was true. Clarisa looked amused at our banter.
“I guess I might come in handy, then.” She teased lightly. Her long fingers ran through her brown hair, and she started to tell Remus about Spain, and about her magic school, and Remus looked like he was trying to memorise everything she said.
But even I listened, and felt myself get interested. If it had been anyone else it would’ve been boring, but it was more that I found myself interested in Clarisa talking, I knew I wasn’t really that interested in what she was talking about.
I could see, too, that James was having much the same reaction.
I wondered if there were Spanish Veela’s, but I knew that even if that were so, Clarisa was no Veela. It was not a charm that made her seem interesting, though she was beautiful.
After a while, she stopped talking and looked around at us. “I could go on about Spain forever, though, you guys should tell me about Hogwarts. I’m here all year, after all.” Clarisa said. “We’re in, uh, Gryffindor, right?”
“You weren’t told about it?” I asked. “Yeah, we’re all in Gryffindor, though.” By now the feast had started, and there was a pile of food on my plate.
“Our Headmistress thought it more interesting and exciting for us to find out when we got here.” She chuckled. “So basically I only know what I’ve read about this place, to be honest, I haven’t read very much.”
“I’ll show you around, and I can tell you all about it.” I grinned. She was the type of person that was easy to be around.
“I’ll remember that.”
“Remus can tell you about all the boring stuff, though.” I smirked at him, and I could see him shaking his head.
