Facinelli<3 RP Sweetheart They were to arrive a week from now and the school buzzed with anticipation. They were all excited to see who would come and for the ball that would occur after their arrival.
It was a few days after Dumbledore’s announcement and I was in the Great Hall with Remus because he had to do prefect duty. He was watching over the decorating.
Peter had gotten out of helping by saying that he had some work he needed to finish. Yeah, right. Like Peter was doing work. And James... He was pestering Lily. I didn’t understand it myself; Lily didn’t like him, so there wasn’t much point. But each to his own.
It turned out I didn’t really end up helping anyway, I’d cause more trouble than I’d be helpful, so Remus didn’t bother. I only wanted to make the suits of armor have sword fights with each. I couldn’t see anything wrong with that.
“It must be such a dilemma for you, Black.” I knew it was her before I saw her. It was not a good thing, I could always tell it was Kyla, and it was never a good thing.
“What are you doing here?”
“I might ask the same thing. No one in his or her right mind would put you in any responsible position. Though I don’t know how anyone in his or her right mind would be able to fall for you either, so there you go. But none of those girls are in their right mind.”
“What dilemma, anyway?” I asked, choosing to ignore her comment. She was just jealous.
“So many girls, it must be so hard to choose which one to cling onto you, for the ball.” Kyla said, full with sarcasm.
I smirked. “I guess you’ll just have to wait and see. But why limit it to just one?” I said, mostly for her reaction. It was exactly what I thought; her face changed into a look of disgust.
This conversation made something click, however. I know realized what Adry had wanted; she seemed to expect me to ask her to the ball, or something.
She could get most of any boy she wanted to go with her, so it was a very good thing. Adriana was the girl every guy wanted beside them, she was different, I suppose, but she was the prettiest you could find. I smiled.
“You are just... I really can’t stand you, Black.” She threw her hair over her shoulder theatrically, turning from me. It took me a moment to come back from my thoughts and the conversation, by which time Kyla had stormed off.
She was going, of course, to her boyfriend. Kyla was hypocritical; she was dating Ravenclaw’s prefect and Quidditch Captain. Mr oh-so-perfect. He was a prat.
“Hey, what’d I miss?” James asked, walking back again.
“Only Sirius and Kyla.” Remus said in such a way that implied this was a usual occurrence. It was true; I did always bicker with Kyla. But something about what he said bothered me; I couldn’t explain it, either.
James rolled his eyes.
“Are you going to keep trying, or will you find another girl to take to the ball?” I asked James, he knew I was referring to Lily.
“She wants to go with me, she just doesn’t want to show it, but she does, trust me.”
“She’s doing a pretty good job.” I said, a little bit skeptical. James always seemed to have faith in this theory but Lily far from showed it, it was the opposite effect.
I usually felt bad for him; he needed to get over whatever it was that he had for Lily.
